Invisible Oranges recently caught up with the former Pantera vocalist. Below is is awesome rant about the BP Oil Disaster. Read the complete interview here.
How is New Orleans doing now with the oil spill?
Anselmo: We ain’t seen the fuckin’ beginning of the repercussion. I think the tip is fuckin’ rearin’ its head, but how can it not? There’s fucking crude spilling out right as we speak here on this motherfuckin’ phone. What can I do about it? What can anybody really do about it? Go to the fuckin’ water and clean animals and birds? It’s not solving the fucking problem.
This right here, this knife in Mother Earth is [a] bleeding fucking wound in our planet, which in my book is God, by all rights. You got God stabbed in the fuckin’ heart. And it’s bleeding. We have not even begun to see the miserable ramifi-fucking-cations of this fucking particular disaster yet. Shit, hurricane season hasn’t really even moved in.
As a matter of fact, by the time the next year rolls around, everything on the Gulf Coast – not just New Orleans, but the entire… it’s not even a tri-state area; you lump Texas and everything into this fuckin’ thing, anything that can be affected by this Gulf – and you blow in fuckin’ oil all over the motherfuckin’ every standing structure… let a big hurricane roll through and blow oil all over every tree, house, car, fuckin’ animal, oh my god – and let it dry up for a fuckin’ week. Then flick a fuckin’ cigarette out. See what happens, with fuckin’ oil all over the place. This place will be torched faster than a motherfuckin’ box of matches, man, and gasoline.
OPETH TO RELEASEIN LIVE CONCERT AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL
PERFORMING “EVOLUTION XX: AN OPETH ANTHOLOGY”
“The remarkable Swedish group Opeth…[is] on a level where fantasy becomes art.” – The New York Times
New York, NY: As part of the ongoing celebration of their 20th anniversary, Sweden’s OPETH is releasing live footage and audio from the band’s recent performance at London’s famed Royal Albert Hall. In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, due out 9/21/10, is a fierce testament to Opeth’s continued success in the progressive metal community.
Twenty years and nine records into their legendary career, Opeth’s “progressively creative spirit” (ARTISTdirect) remains unwavering, propelling the band through the “Evolution XX: An Opeth Anthology” tour, which brought the Swedish titans to six of the world’s most unique venues, and now, with the release of In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, into the homes of their fans.
The performance at the Royal Albert Hall (recorded on the 5th of April, 2010) includes two sets, the first consisting of the band performing 2000’s now-classic, breakthrough epic, Blackwater Park in its entirety, and the second, a chronologically arranged selection of material from the rest of Opeth’s extensive catalogue, totaling almost three hours of music. It is, like the rest of Opeth’s greatest work, “purposefully warped in all the right places” (Decibel). The front cover artwork concept pays tribute to Deep Purple´s Concerto for Group and Orchestra, underlining the band’s longstanding love for their prog-rock roots.
Thinking back to the concert, frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt says “Opeth had a magical night playing the Royal Albert Hall. It was a dream come true, and now afterwards, it still feels like a dream. We got it all on film, and this, our third live recording and DVD might be my personal favorite. One couldn’t help to think of all the fantastic artists that played there over the years. Looking back at this night of celebration brings me fond memories of our 20th anniversary—this package is the delayed birthday present. Enjoy!”
The release will be available as three very special configurations:

Today, MORIBUND RECORDS announces the signing of HAERESIARCHS OF DIS. HAERESIARCHS OF DIS is a one-man black metal project currently residing in the woods of Lexington Hills, California. Formed by Cernunnos, the band produces underground black metal bearing avant-garde, ambient, and melodic elements. Imagery and lyrical content are derived from misanthropic and anti-Christian ideologies with undercurrents of Indo-European mythology. The band has three releases to date including the debut full -ength Overture , the Dis mini-CD of reissued older material – both on label Toadstool Enterprises – and the soon to be released second full-length Denuntiatus Cinis, set for release on October 12th through MORIBUND RECORDS
At once cacophonous and orchestral, dissonant and magisterial, raging one minute and reposed the next, amorphous yet firmly defined: HAERESIARCHS OF DIS’s Denuntiatis Cinis is an epic, envelope-pushing exploration of black metal aesthetics. The mysterious entity’s MORIBUND debut, Denuntiatis Cinis takes black metal down complex corridors, each turn more twisted than the next, challenging the listener’s perceptions of what “black metal” can comprise whilst ignoring the rulebook altogether. Forget “post-black metal” – remember HAERESIARCHS OF DIS.
The full track listing for HAERESIARCHS OF DIS’ Denuntiatus Cinis is as follows:

3) The Respite

FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT is very proud to announce that we will be premiering the new MUNICIPAL WASTE music video for the track “Acid Sentence” off of their newest album, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE at booth #1736 at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con International. FANGORIA film crews helmed this gruesome video, which is sure to be a favorite with MUNICIPAL WASTE and FANGORIA fans alike.
“It seemed like a perfect fit,” says video director David McKendry. “The FANGORIA staff has always been huge WASTE fans, and when we heard they wanted to shoot a horror oriented video, we knew FANGO had to be part of the action.”
Bass player Phil Hall stated, “I have been a big fan of FANGORIA for years, so when I heard they were interested in producing a music video for MUNICIPAL WASTE, I was stoked. Just like any metal head, I am a fan of classic horror movies and who else would know that genre better than FANGORIA! I think the dark and gritty vibe of the new video fits the atmosphere of the song very well. I hope all the WASTE fans out there get a kick out of it!”
The song “Acid Sentence” is from the band’s most recent album, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, released by Earache Records. Based on the legendary serial killer John Haigh, the song/video center around a serial killer who bathes his victims in acid. The video was shot over several weeks in May and June of 2010 and features the band as well as plenty of FANGORIA style gore. The gore and body parts were provided by the world-renowned Dapper Cadaver, whose fine gore craftsmanship has graced TV shows like BONES and DEXTER.
Drummer Dave Witte on the collaboration- “It was a huge thrill to work with FANGORIA as they’ve been totally supportive to many artists over the years from Clive Barker to Romero and beyond, people who have uncompromising visions with their art and are pros all across the board. To me, as a fan and a musician, I couldn’t be more thrilled that FANGORIA wants to support what we are doing with our music.”
FANGORIA will debut the video at the FANGORIA Booth, #1736, at 3pm on Saturday, July 24th. After this, the video will play once every hour until the end of the event. Director David McKendry will be at the booth during the premiere to answer questions and discuss the video shoot. To arrange an interview with David McKendry, please email email@example.com

FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT: We know what scares you! For more information, please visit www.fangoria.com
Information on MUNICIPAL WASTE: Named by Billboard Magazine as one of the world’s “up and coming” metal bands, Richmond, Virginia’s MUNICIPAL WASTE have not only proven themselves worthy of the honor, but they have worked hard to become the undisputed modern leaders of the crossover genre. Founded by guitarist, Ryan Waste and vocalist, Tony Foresta in 2000, MUNICIPAL WASTE have gone from an underground sensation playing songs that incorporate elements of thrash metal, punk and hardcore (in the vein of DRI, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and NUCLEAR ASSAULT), to singlehandedly resurrecting a genre and finally defining it. Along with bassist, Land Phil and world-class drummer, Dave Witte, MUNICIPAL WASTE has taken its frantic, crossover-infused sound all over the world to high p raise from critics and fans alike. The band is still hard at work promoting their latest album, 2009’s MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. Supported by tours with LAMB OF GOD, headlining runs with the likes of BRUTAL TRUTH and GOATWHORE, as well appearances at major metal festivals the world over, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE has been the band’s best-selling record to date
After 4 great releases, Rorcal, swiss doomcore creature will release its new album in september : “Heliogabalus”.
Going right out of inferno, “HGBLS” is a 70 minutes song which illustrate the decadence of a roman emperor. This time Rorcal is going ways further than before, with crushing doom parts, including long hellish droning fields.
This album is scary, really aggressive, completely gloomy. Be sure, you never heard something like that, and you never will.
Rorcal is doom at its best, it’s like Hell on Earth. If you’re looking for something really extreme, this is exactly what you need.
Released by Cal of Ror Records (Lilium Sova), in partnership with Division Records (ASIDEFROMADAY, Kehlvin, Unfold, Vancouver…), this monolith will be presented in a A6 digifile, including 6 pages booklet, limited to 500 copies, hand numbered.
Expect something really slow, really doom and droning. In just a word : Hard. More than ever.
Sweden’s OCTOBER TIDE will perform at the 6th Annual Hell’s Pleasure MetalFest scheduled to take place this weekend in Possneck, Germany. The band is expected to play selections from their forthcoming new album, A Thin Shell, due in stores September 28. The performance marks the band’s first since regrouping in 2009.
Guitarist Fredrik Norrman says, “we are really exited for the first gig ever with this updated version of OCTOBER TIDE. Our last rehearsal sounded great and it feels like we are actually a band. And the old songs sound better-than-ever with Tobias’s vocals. So be there support OCTOBER TIDE and join us for beers afterwards.”
Decibel Magazine recently premiered the song “Blackness Devours” from A Thin Shell on July 8. Longtime fans posted positive comments to the magazine’s site confirming early on the growing excitement over the band’s first album in over a decade: “This really sounds promising.” “Sounds brilliant… Can’t wait for September!” “OCTOBER TIDE spirit is still here after so many years of awaiting.”
Formed in 1995 by then Katatonia guitarist Norrman and Katatonia/Bloodbath vocalist Jonas Renkse, OCTOBER TIDE quickly made a mark with two albums recorded and released during the years 1997 and 1999. Much of the band’s music was written during a short break up of Katatonia which later proved only temporary as the band would reform and continues today; their latest album Night of the New Day features work by Norrman. OCTOBER TIDE would not perform live during this short period of activity and few interviews with the members were granted despite praise from both media and fans. The band, until reforming in late 2009, would maintain a cult status throughout the doom/metal community.
OCTOBER TIDE currently features vocalist Tobias Netzell, drummer Robin Bergh, and guitarist Norrman. Guitarist Emil Alstermark and bassist Johan Jansson now join the group as they ready for the weekend’s performance.
Candlelight Records is distributed exclusively in the United States by Caroline Distribution, EMI Music for Canada, and Plastichead Music for the rest of the world.
Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage were just a few ways the metal community described Montreal’s hottest export DESPISED ICON as any of their live shows are a true lesson in violence. We’ll be touring most of the U.S. and Canada in September and October with our friends in Misery Index, Revocation and The Last Felony. Technical death metal act, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, have announced “Marée Noire”, as the title of their forthcoming EP which will be released in North America on September 14th. The effort was co- produced by Chris Donaldson, known for his work with Cryptopsy, with guitarist Chris Bradley and the band. It was mixed by Donaldson and mastered by Alan Douches (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Converge).
Bradley commented on the release: “’Marée Noire’ was written using a different approach than the preceding release. We wouldn’t start the writing process from the same point. Some songs were more structured by melodies while others all started from drums pattern. I think it makes the songs stand out a little more.”
Vocalist Elliot Desgagnes added: “The tones are a little rawer and it helped a lot that Donaldson and Bradley already worked together in the past. We were all on the same page and everything went well in studio. I really like the EP format. It’s easier lyrically to make connections between the songs and follow a thought pattern. We named the EP ‘Marée Noire,’ ‘Black Tide,’ in English, because I was writing lyrics on Absurdism, self fulfilled prophecy and corporations raping everything, when BP started to shit in the Gulf of Mexico.”
BENEATH THE MASSACRE will appear at the Heavy MTL festival later month alongside Slayer, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Despised Icon, Mastodon and more. The band has also announced a Canadian tour beginning in late August and wrapping up in early October, sponsored by JagerMusic Canada. They will be playing with Neuraxis, Ion Dissonance and others along the trek.
