Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinnie Appice to be joined by Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande for a special tribute to the legendary Ronnie James Dio. Get your High Voltage tickets here!
Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinnie Appice will play a very special tribute to one of the greatest voices of all time at this year’s first ever High Voltage festival on July 24th at Victoria Park in London.
Playing the songs that made three generations of metal fans worship the ground Ronnie walked upon, the H&H members will be joined by legendary former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath man Glenn Hughes and Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who sings for power metallers Masterplan and has also released his own tribute to Ronnie in the past.
Geezer Butler: “It’s going to be a very emotional occasion. Ronnie loved his fans like no-one else I know – and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die because we all think we’re immune from this disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you.”
Tony Iommi: “Ronnie’s passing has left a huge hole, we hadn’t anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that.”
Video commentary from Iommi is below:
Proceeds from this performance will go to The Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up And Shout” Cancer Fund. For further information on the Fund and to make a donation please visit www.ronniejamesdio.com
The first ever High Voltage festival will be headlined by classic rock giants ZZ Top and the reformed Emerson, Lake and Palmer with the Metal Hammer stage featuring Down, Black Label Society, Saxon, Cathedral, Clutch, Opeth and many other metal heavyweights!

Dutch Blackened Thrash/Death Metal band ONHEIL proudly presents their new music video of “Nemesis’ Light Fading”, a song from their latest album “Razor”. Footage for the storyline has been taken from an upcoming independent movie, shot and directed by bandmember Amok. The rest of video shows the band playing in a one hundred years old electrical facility.
The video can be seen below and the mp3 can be found here.
More information about the music video:
The “Nemesis’ Light Fading” video is the first video from ONHEIL’s latest album “Razor”, released by German Record Label CYCLONE EMPIRE and produced at the FINAL FOCUS studio by Bart Hennephof (Textures) and Yuma van Eekelen (Pestilence).
The storyline of the video shows a man slowly heading for his demise. This footage was shot by ONHEIL’s bandmember Amok for an movie project done together with part-time actor Dkarn Tserinth, who is working at the “Arts & Culture” department of the City of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Amok comments: ”Don’t expect a clean Hollywood production, this movie is raw and real. Beside that, the project is ‘no-budget’ anyway..”.
Although the movie is far from finished and currently on hold because of Amok’s activities with ONHEIL, including appearences at European Open Air festivals as PARTY.SAN, METAL MEAN and OCCULTFEST, some of the footage is already used for the music video as it fits the lyrical content of the song Nemesis’ Light Fading very well.
In the past, Dkarn Tserinth has appeared on some of ONHEIL’s previous releases as a guest vocalist and lyric writer. He also has cooperated with Amok on several music and video projects and they were part of the defunct underground metal radio station MISANTROPAGANDA.
The band footage was shot in an old, unused, electrical generating facility of one of Holland’s oldest cities Dordrecht. The dark atmosphere and black painted walls of the building is the perfect scenery for ONHEIL’s music.
Short band biography:
ONHEIL was originally founded in the autumn of 1999. A few successful demos led them to the recording of their first official release, ‘The Threat’. This mini-CD was released in 2003 by the now deceased WAR CRY PRODUCTIONS.
After some troubled years spend finding a decent drummer it was the beginning of 2007 when the current line-up was formed. This line-up contains 2 lead vocalists and 3 guitarists, giving them more possibilities to perfect their own ‘Blackened Thrash/Death Metal-sound’.
In 2008 a new record deal was inked with German recordlabel CYCLONE EMPIRE and spawned ONHEIL’s latest album “Razor” in May of 2009. It was very well received by both press and fans getting extremely positive reactions and mostly high ratings. Often “Razor” was seen as one of the best albums of the year, yet not getting the attention it deserved.
Onheil is currently preparing themselves for open air festivals shows, including PARTY.SAN, METAL MEAN and OCCULTFEST. After the summer the band will hit the road to play club shows throughout Europe.
New addition to Witching Hour Productions catalogue is Non Opus Dei, originating from Olsztyn, one of the most interesting acts in avant-garde black metal genre. Several weeks ago band put final touches to their first new album in three years.
Recording session started in Bat Studio in Olsztyn where drums were recorded under supervision of Szymon Czech (Nyia, Third Degree) who produced the whole album. Later the band moved to his private studio to record guitar tracks. They finished work at Studio X recording bass and vocals, and returned to Szymon’s studio for mix and mastering. Album was entitled “Eternal Circle” and will hit the stores in September 2010.
“Eternal Circle” is 30 minutes of fast, unique, avant-garde black metal. On their Myspace page (www.myspace.com/nonopusdeipoland) you can already listen to the first song entitled “The Prisoner Of The Worlds”. On the lyrical side, the concept will be based on the theory of never-ending cycle which cannot be broken. The same cycle that Nietzsche was told by his Demon.
The band comments on new label and new album: “Our first album for Witching Hour will be underlining band’s legacy, and following the path once chosen. We knew exactly what we want to achieve and how to create such extremity as “Eternal Circle”. Soon after the beginning of composing we knew there will be no place for compromise. Ultrafast drums parts set on the Eternal Circle on its path. However this in not only blast-beats based fast black metal. We focused on the melodic aspect, and most of all on intriguing but consistent arrangements, on guitars playing unusual parts in interesting harmonies… “Eternal Circle” is also the summary of our own ideology and obsession on the concept of never-ending cycle.”

Kelly Garni (ex-bassist for QUIET RIOT) and great friend of the legendary and sorely missed Randy Rhoads (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE, Quiet Riot) along with Kelle Rhoads (Randy’s brother) have made a major announcement for fans across the globe. A museum dedicated to the legacy of Randy Rhoads is set to open later this year in Corona, California. The location was picked as it’s just a short distance away from Randy’s tomb in southern California. Randy’s polka-dot flying V is currently on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
Check out video of the announcement below:
Randy Rhoads was killed in a freak airplane accident while on tour in Florida on the morning of March 19, 1982.
As previously reported, 30th Anniversary Sony Legacy Editions of Ozzy’s first two legendary solo albums featuring Randy Rhoads – Blizzard Of Ozz (1980) and Diary Of A Madman (1981) – are due out in the fall.
“They definitely are coming out this year,” Sharon Osbourne told BraveWords.com recently. “They are coming out for (US) Thanksgiving and they will be on the market then. It’s going back to the original recordings with (Bob) Daisley (bass) and (Lee) Kerslake (drums). And there will be a lot of stuff that you haven’t heard before in the packages. Like certain conversations that were going on in the studio with the guys just messing around while the tape was still rolling. All of that will be added into it.”
Sharon also revealed that there’s also talk of some video footage in the archives with Randy Rhoads. “There’s two shows that we have in the archives that we are working on right now. Of course in those days, the tapes were like twenty minutes and then you had to change the tape. So we’re trying to clean it up, make sense of it. So we are working on it, along with another film we have of Randy. It will all be boxed together and it should be a great piece to have for a real fan. It will be an amazing piece.”
