ULCER: Polish Death Metallers Join The Pulverised Roster

January 15th, 2011
by EvilG

Polish death metallers ULCER are the latest inductees to the expanding Pulverised Records roster. Formed in 2006, the young ULCER consists of past and present members from Blaze Of Perdition, Squashed Bowels, Deivos and Abusiveness. The band recorded two demos in 2006 and a debut full-length album entitled Serpent Trinity in 2007.

ULCER‘s Pulverised debut, entitled Grant Us Death, is currently underway with an expected release date later this year. Artwork and track listing to be unveiled soon.

Comments ULCER frontman D. (aka Sonneillon) of the signing: “We are proud to join the ranks of the well-known and respected label Pulverised Records. When we were searching for a label to release our new material, we wanted to find someone who not only can offer decent conditions, but also knows what death metal is about. We’ve never had an urgent need to release anything anywhere. We just needed a label that understands what we do, and to put it simply: Pulverised is perfect for us – nothing more, nothing less. It’s a privilege to praise death along with such great names as Desultory, Impiety, Interment, Master, Nominon and Tribulation, who are all  ravenous as hell. We’ll do our best to prove that we are worthy to be a part of this great label with our album Grant Us Death. Expect nothing but raging death metal inferno in its pure and classic form. ONLY DEATH IS HOLY!”

Added Pulverised Records A&R manager Calvin Chiang : “When we first heard two recently-recorded tracks from ULCER, it was very clear to us that these guys mean serious business! The raw essence of ugly-as-fuck, in-your-face ’90s death metal yet with thought-out [song] structures are all very much evident; but ULCER emits a certain darkness and morbidity that sets them apart. The band sent their raw mixes from the upcoming album Grant Us Death and just judging from these raw tracks, the new album will be an unbridled mix of violent and macabre old school death metal!”

D. (aka Sonneillon) – Vocals
Angelfuck – Vocals
LucaSS – Guitar
Mscislaw (aka Revenger) – Guitar
Kamil “Szwed” – Bass
Wizun – Drums

Nuclear Blast Records proudly announces the signing of ‘70s-style psychedelic rock band & disciples of analog sound GRAVEYARD from Gothenburg, Sweden.  Their new label debut, Hisingen Blues, is slated for a release in early Spring.

GRAVEYARD have issued the following statement about the their new recording contract:

“It feels great to work with such experienced and dedicated people as the Nuclear Blast crew.  Awesome!!  It’s a label that’s founded by old school tape traders that obviously are good at what they do, since NB is one of the few big independent labels that manages not only to survive, but to expand in today’s difficult music climate. Peace, love & chemical warfare!”

Andy Siry, Head of A&R at Nuclear Blast HQ in Germany states: “We are honored to be working with GRAVEYARD!  These guys are the most unique and amazing band the so-called retro rock scene has to offer, although GRAVEYARD are MUCH more than this.  Keep your ears peeled – GRAVEYARD is upon us and 2011 will be the year of the ‘YARD!”

Listen to the songs “Thin Line,” “As The Years Pass By, The Hours Bend,” and “Evil Ways” on the band’s MySpace page.

Debut full-length out now

MIAMI – Miami DIY stoner metal act, Shroud Eater, has uploaded a video trailer to the band’s official website in celebration of the release of ThunderNoise, Shroud Eater’s debut full-length record which hit stores on Tuesday.  The video features a preview of the brand new track, “Baying of Jackals”, and can be seen online now at:

The 11-track, self-released, ThunderNoise, is currently streaming in its entirety at:, where it is also available for purchase as a digital download, hard copy CD, and special CD/t-shirt bundle pack.

ThunderNoise is our statement of intent,” explains guitarist/vocalist, Jeannie Saiz. “It’s a ferocious labyrinth of music that we literally put blood, sweat and tears into.  We hope it consumes the listener as much as it did us.”

The track list for ThunderNoise is…
1. High John the Conqueror
2. Vesuvius
3. Cyclone
4. Shark Valley
5. We Are Beasts
6. Descent from the Summit
7. Oubliette
8. Baying of Jackals
9. Sinister Hunt
10. Hands that Prey
11. Pale Rider
ThunderNoise was constructed at Miami’s Relax Bro! Studios in July.  The album was self-produced by Shroud Eater with the help of Relax Bro! engineer, Raul Valentine.  The band tapped Scott Angelacos (renowned vocalist of the classic hardcore band, Bloodlet) and Jeff McLear at High Five Audio for mixing, while Nick Zampiello and Rob Gonnella of New Alliance East (Torche, Converge, Against Me) handled mastering duties.

ThunderNoise is the follow up to the band’s November 2009 self-titled debut EP, which Decibel Magazine deemed, “a mighty hurricane in Miami”, and the Miami New Times called, “soul-damaging”.
Artwork comes courtesy of Shroud Eater’s own, Jeannie Saiz.

After a month of recording in the sizzling Florida summer – in a warehouse with no AC unit to speak of – the group embarked on tour to lay waste to the eastern seaboard, passing through Georgia, North Carolina and up through New York.
The band plans to tour through Florida, up the east coast, and play a string of shows out west in the spring.
Stay tuned for more information on Shroud Eater and ThunderNoise.

Shroud Eater is…
Jeannie Saiz – guitar/vocals
Janette Valentine bass
Felipe Torres – drums

Friday, January 14th 2011 marks the start of ACCEPT’s long anticipated “Blood Of The Nations” world tour. The new tour is named after the band’s highly successful and critically praised comeback album “Blood Of the Nations” and includes shows in 24 countries around Europe, North America, Canada, Latin and South America. This mammoth 80-show trek marathon commences tonight in Osnabrück, Germany at the Gartlage Hall.

Throughout all these shows, ACCEPT have once again confirmed to their large army of fans that they are indeed one of the most productive and dominant live metal acts on the international hard rock scene.

The live shows offered by the prolific line-up of Wolf Hoffmann, Mark Tornillo, Peter Baltes, Hermann Frank and Stefan Schwarzmann will offer an explosive mix of legendary classics like “Balls To the Wall” and “Metal Heart” mixed in with new hard rock highlights like the sensational “Teutonic Terror”, the hard hitting “Pandemic” and the colossal “The Abyss”. STRATOVARIUS – Jörg Michael Returns Timo Kotipelto Forced To Cancel Shows

January 14th, 2011

Stratovarius - Elysium

Stratovarius - Elysium

In an official message from STRATOVARIUS: “Some good news and some bad news. The good news is that we’re back on the road with Helloween. And Jörg Michael is back in his drum chair after his brush with death.

The bad news is that Timo Kotipelto caught some sort of bacterial infection. We suspect it was something from the backstage food in December, but we don’t know. Two of the other people on the tour had the same thing: A very bad dysentery-like stomach infection with vomiting and diarrhea, dehydration, also eventually had to go to hospital, etc.

Timo’s infection is stubborn and in addition to ruining his Christmas break, it has dried out his vocal cords. In his own words, he can’t sing a note at the moment. We are currently in France and so far we had to cancel playing in Paris and Lyon.

We are of course very sorry about this, and nobody is more heartbroken or frustrated than Timo himself. Apart from heeding the advice from doctors we are in touch with, the only thing we can do at the moment is to hope Timo gets better. We will ride the 1000 km to Bilbao tonight and hopefully we will all get some sleep on the nice smooth French motorways.

Check out  a short video about the Paris cancellation and some words from Jörg HERE.
The legendary Finnish melodic metal troupe are gearing up to unleash their thirteenth studio album, Elysium, in North America next week. Recorded at 5-By-5 studios in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland, the nine-track full-length will be released on January 18, 2011 through Armoury Records and features cover art by Gyula Havancsák.

A new webisode featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of “Blunt Force Trauma”, the sophomore album from CAVALERA CONSPIRACY — the project featuring former SEPULTURA members Max (guitar, vocals) and Igor Cavalera (drums) — can be viewed below.

“Blunt Force Trauma” will be released on March 29 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was once again tracked with Logan Mader (ex-MACHINE HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist), who co-produced the LP with Max. Logan also mixed the follow-up to the band’s debut album, “Inflikted”, which has sold 43,000 copies in the United States since its March 2008 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The brothers Cavalera co-founded SEPULTURA, the Brazilian metal band that redefined and established the genre outside of the U.S. and Europe. After Max exited the band, there was a rift between himself and his brother, one that was eventually repaired through the redemptive power of music. Some time had passed and Max and Igor were unable to resist the musical pull in their magnetic fields and their musical collaboration was renewed. The duo are back for round two with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY’s lineup is filled out by guitarist Marc Rizzo, who plays with Max in SOULFLY, and bassist Johnny Chow.

“Blunt Force Trauma” track listing:

02. Torture

03. Lynch Mob

An audio recording of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY performing a brand new song, “Warlord”, during the band’s October 11, 2010 appearance at the SWU Music and Arts Festival at the Maeda Farm in Itú (about 43.5 miles away from São Paulo), Brazil can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

In an interview with Triple J’s “The Racket”, Max Cavalera stated about the sophomore album from CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, “We recorded 15 songs, 13 being originals for the album, and then we did a BLACK SABBATH cover, ‘Electric Funeral’, that’s gonna come out on a Metal Hammer compilation in Europe. And we did a BLACK FLAG cover, a song called ‘Six Pack’. We also had a collaboration with Roger [Miret] from AGNOSTIC FRONT — he sings on a song called ‘Lynch Mob’ that we did together in the studio in L.A.; he flew to L.A. to do this collaboration. I was really proud because, to me, Roger is like the godfather of New York hardcore; AGNOSTIC FRONT is one of the pioneer bands of the whole New York hardcore scene, so it was like recording with a legend of hardcore. The CAVALERA album is really intense; that’s all I can say about it. It makes the first album sound like pop music.”

Regarding the songwriting and recording process for the new CAVALERA CONSPIRACY album, Max said, “I wrote a lot of the stuff and I sent it to Brazil to [Igor] in the form of a CD — like four tracks of the riffs — so that he would be familiarized with the songs by the time I got to the studio. And then I brought another CD with me, which was, like, newer songs I had just got done [writing] for the album. And everything else we did in the studio together — me and him there on the spot. I told him the idea of making a very intense album with some songs being only a minute and a half, so it’s a cross [between] MINOR THREAT and SLAYER and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY. So the idea was really cool — Igor really liked that — and from that point on, the album just grew and song after song, every day a new song came in. And I’m really happy with it. I think people are gonna be blown away when they hear it. I think it’s a pretty cool album.”
