Santa Monica, California, August 2, 2010 – – Black Tide will head out on the road this fall joining Bullet For My Valentine and Escape The Fate on their 31 date tour of North America. The tour kicks off September 16th in Wichita, KS at The Cotillon and also includes Drive A on the bill. See below for a complete list of tour dates.
Black Tide broke onto the music scene in a big way in 2008 with their fist-pumping, fret-burning, fast-paced metallic anthems on their Interscope Records debut Light From Above. The Florida based quartet is putting the finishing touches on their sophomore set which will be released in early 2011. The new album was recorded at Spin Studios in New York with producers GGGarth (Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against) and Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God).
Black Tide is one of a young, new generation of rock bands who are equally at home in the metal, hard rock, and alternative worlds as evidenced by their inclusion on various package tours – Vans Warped Tour, Ozzfest, Mayhem Festival- and as support for artists such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Escape the Fate and more. Lead vocalist/guitarist Gabriel Garcia, bassist Zakk Sandler, drummer Steven Spence and guitarist Austin Diaz immediately took to the road and to date has rocked over 300 shows in over 16 countries with over 1 million fans! Their debut, Light From Above, was released in March 2008 and garnered instant acclaim stateside with Rolling Stone naming the band one of the “Best Rookies of 2008” and “Metal’s New Teen Titans.” Spin Magazine went on to tap them as one of the “Next Big Things” and overseas Kerrang named them the “Best New Band of 2008!” Light From Above has sold over 100,000 albums and the band has had over 1 million views of their Youtube videos.

KAMELOT is back, and bigger than ever! Offering a glimpse of what is to come, they have unveiled the cover artwork for their highly anticipated 9th studio album, Poetry For The Poisoned. Check out the amazing artwork HERE.
The strikingly dark, beautiful artwork is from Seth Siro Anton. He sums up his experience in working on Poetry For The Poisoned: “It was a great challenge for me as an artist to visualize the music of this new KAMELOT masterpiece. Really difficult, as I had to combine a Fine Art aesthetic and technique blended with a really dark, melancholic, poisoned atmosphere. I am really satisfied with the final result; it’s definitely the darkest artwork for KAMELOT so far…. A sweet poison for the eyes that successfully addresses their new poetry of music.”
Frontman Roy Khan assures that Poetry For The Poisoned will both please the band’s existing following and expose the universe of KAMELOT to a whole range of new fans. “Poetry For The Poisoned is our longest and toughest production so far, but when I hear the result I know it was well worth the struggle,” he says.
Poetry For The Poisoned Track Listing:
1. The Great Pandemonium
2. If Tomorrow Came
3. Dear Editor
4. The Zodiac
5. Hunter’s Season
6. House On A Hill
8. My Train Of Thoughts

Debuting in North America on September 14, 2010, Poetry For The Poisoned will be the premier release on their newly formed label KAMELOT Media Group (KMG Recordings). For this momentous release, the band chose to team up with longtime allies Thomas Ziegler of DisManic Distribution/E1 and Gunter Ford of Knife Fight Media. Guitarist Thomas Youngblood states, “We are in a very unique and fast changing era for the music world; I am very excited about the new venture of KMG in North America. We have a team of experienced and passionate people working with us on this new release, which will be another step for KAMELOT and our fans.” Says Thomas Ziegler, “It was a lot of fun working previous KAMELOT releases, and I am very excited about the fact that the team is working together again. With our experience and energy and our new friends at E1 we will make Poetry For The Poisoned a BIG success!” Gunter Ford adds, “In these changing times, Knife Fight Media was created in order to provide marketing, promotion, product development and label management services for artists and labels in need of maximizing their Brand in a fast changing and challenging landscape of the North American Music Industry. I believe the ‘KAMELOT Brand’ is one of the leaders in its genre. I will be working closely with Thomas Youngblood, Roy Khan, DisManic and the Knife Fight Media team around this fantastic new release to grow Poetry For The Poisoned even beyond the level of success we experienced with their previous releases in North America.”
The dynamic compositions of Poetry For The Poisoned take the listener on an emotional journey that touches both the mind and soul with its mix of Progressive elements, Modern Rock, Dark Arts and also Power Metal! “I think this album is by far our most diverse, fusing new ideas and elements along with the traditional KAMELOT sound and style that we have established over the years,” states guitarist Thomas Youngblood. He continues, “It comes at a time where many people around the world are searching for something to grab on to spiritually, including myself. I recently lost my mother and to be honest it was very hard on me. So there are some melancholy moods reflected on this album.”
Poetry For The Poisoned was recorded at Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro and features guest appearances by Simone Simons (Epica), Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind), Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork) and Jon Oliva (Savatage, Jon Oliva’s Pain). Northamptonshire, England: FEAR FACTORY in the early morning hours narrowly escaped fire that quickly engulfed their tour bus while in route to London. The fire reportedly stemmed from a back wheel tire before spreading throughout the double-decker coach. BBC News confirms the fire closed down two lanes of the southbound M1 as Northamptonshire fire officials battled the blaze.
FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares released the following comment moments ago: “We had just finished playing a sold out show in Sheffield and we were on our way to London. Everyone was asleep except for two of our crew. At about 3:30am the bus driver noticed smoke coming from the back right wheel. He stopped, jumped out and noticed a flame underneath the wheel well. He tried to extinguish it but the flames were too much. Everyone on the bus was woken up by one of our crew yelling ‘Get everyone up and out of the bus.’ Everyone grabbed their bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going ‘thank god we all made it out’ until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus. A good friend of ours ran back on the smoked-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames.”
FEAR FACTORY are currently on tour in the UK continuing performances in support of their latest album, Mechanize. The band completed their most recent American tour on July 27th to a captivated audience in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The following evening the band departed from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport for an additional three weeks of dates in the UK and other various European festivals.
Cazares adds, “our eyes are burning and we were all coughing from the smoke. Some of us lost wallets, money, computers but that’s not important compared to our lives. It only took about 20 to 30 minutes for the bus to be completely covered in flames. The fire trucks and the police finally arrived but it was too late to save anything on the bus. A coach bus picked us up and brought us safely to a nearby hotel. We found out only a short while ago that the trailer was saved where all our gear was. But the bus is just a metal frame on the side of the road.”
A statement from Hungarian metalpunks DRÜNKEN BASTARDS reads: “Pete Fire, the founding guitarist of Drünken Bastards, has been diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago. The treatments have started already and the doctors, family and his friends are confident that he’s going to get better. So far, he has been taking it good, but the whole treatment could take up to six months. This means that the band had to cancel all the shows which were booked for autumn. Of course, we won’t stop working and together we decided to write our third upcoming album and to make up for all the canceled shows in spring after Pete gets better. Hope for him to get better and meanwhile wait for the second album, Horns Of The Wasted, which will be release on Hells Headbangers on August 31st. Of course Pete’s other band Bridge To Solace has also decided to cancel their last shows and wait for Pete to get better, hence the next spring won’t go easy on nuclear hardcore and metal/punk attacks.” For more info, consult www.myspace.com/drnkenbastards.
Without a doubt, THE heavy metal success story of the early ’80s was none other than Quiet Riot. After years of struggling in LA clubs (despite legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads being in their ranks throughout the ’70s), the classic QR line-up of Kevin DuBrow (vocals), Frankie Banali (drums), Rudy Sarzo (bass), and Carlos Cavazo (guitar) hit mega-success with their first-ever US release in 1983, the classic ‘Metal Health.’ Spawning two hit singles that have gone on to become synonymous with heavy metal – “Cum On Feel the Noize” and “Metal Health” – the ‘Metal Health’ album went on to become the first-ever metal US debut to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts, and resulted in a solid year of sold-out shows and non-stop MTV video airplay.
Despite this being an absolute standout era of the band’s career, very little substantial video documentation has surfaced. That is…until now. Banali is in the midst of constructing a full-length/behind-the-scenes/warts-and-all documentary about the group (the first-ever solely about QR), which will focus on this aforementioned era, but also, recount QR’s entire story – from the first time DuBrow and Banali crossed paths in January 1980, through DuBrow’s untimely passing in November of 2007.
The video footage – directly from Banali’s archives – will include the aforementioned performance in 1980 through some of the last shows QR played, including footage of their Rocklahoma performance in 2007. Additional video footage captures QR in many phases, including a 1982 performance of “DuBrow” (a short-lived name Quiet Riot went by in the early ’80s), with DuBrow, Banali, bassist Chuck Wright (Sarzo was playing in Ozzy Osbourne’s band at the time), and Cavazo’s first video performance with the band, his second total. Also included will be live performances, backstage footage, sound checks, studio sessions, and interviews – most of which has never been seen.
Banali has already invested money into the project, and to make the documentary reach its full potential, he is having an online fundraiser that ends September 2nd. Fans are being called upon to help back the project, and lend a hand in its completion. Also via the aforementioned link is a list of the different increments you can pledge – all of which give rewards of QR-related merchandise, and as the pledge amount increases, so do the rewards (including such simply awesome items as an autographed QR photo that includes the late DuBrow’s signature, a personal drum lesson with Banali in LA, dinner with Banali at the Rainbow in LA, your own personalized ‘Metal Health’ platinum CD award, your name in the film’s credits, amongst many other cool opportunities).
As Banali says, “The moment my friend Kevin DuBrow died, my life and career went from sixty to zero with his final breath.” But now, DuBrow and Quiet Riot will receive a much-deserved video retrospective, that will leave no stone unturned. Get ready to bang your head and feel the noize once more!
The first stages of putting the documentary together are now underway, and a “teaser” clip of what to expect has been posted via this link:

The video for “A Voice In The Dark,” directed by Ivan Colic and produced by Stanimir “Staca” Lukic, is now available for viewing on the Nuclear Blast Germany YouTube Channel. It was shot in Belgrade, Serbia in early June 2010.
BLIND GUARDIAN vocalist & lyricist Hansi Kürsch checks in about the finished product:
“The storyboard of the video is just an individual interpretation by the video producer in accordance to the lyrics of ‘A Voice In The Dark’ and the album cover. Storyboard-wise, I think it is the perfect output of what art is supposed to be about: A constant inspiration to progression and new worlds. We luckily did have the chance to visit the pyramids in México when we played there in 1998. They, of course, have been my inspiration when I spoke to Felipe [Machado Franco, artist] about the album cover artwork and possible pyramids to be involved. Due to that, they also were an inspiration for Ivan [Colic]. Our intention, of course, is to have some of the images [incorporated] into our live set.”
As far as the band’s personal beliefs on the meanings of events involving celestial bodies, Kürsch clarifies:
“We personally do not believe that incredible things will happen during eclipses – usually. Things like that can definitely and easily irritate your mind, though. According to the Mayan calendar, we already have appointments on planet Earth for 2013.”
“A Voice In The Dark” comes off BLIND GUARDIAN’s tenth studio album At The Edge Of Time, which will be released in North America on August 24th and features album artwork created by Colombian artist Felipe Machado Franco (Iced Earth, At Vance, Axel Rudi Pell).
Pre-order bundles for At The Edge Of Time are now available at Nuclear Blast USA’s online store. The jewel case + work shirt bundle is available here for $27.50. The 2-CD digi-pak + work shirt is available here for $29.50. The jewel case CD can be pre-ordered alone for $10.00.

The band released the following statement: “2010 is a very special year for 1349. This is the year that saw the release of our pinnacle album ‘Demonoir,” into which we have channeled the darkest and fiercest contents of our souls and given it an aural form. As the album was released, the band was already on American soil doing the first tour of the touring cycle as main support for Cannibal Corpse. We were obviously rather excited about how the songs would feel and sound live and thus of the crowd’s reaction to the new material, but it turned out to work eminently. It felt fabulous! Furthermore, it became clear to us that we had to follow up what we had begun and go back to the States and play a headliner tour in the fall. This intent has turned into cold reality as we now embark on a co-headliner tour with Triptykon.
“Many of you are familiar with 1349’s bonds to the creative mastermind Tom G. Warrior, and for us it’s like pieces of a puzzle that fall into place as we now go on tour with Triptykon on their first journey to the U.S. We talk about two mighty forces that here will be joined; in 1349 we see it as nothing short of a great achievement that we could make it happen. We can promise you that 1349 will feed off this great happening, and we boldly state that every show on this Weltenbrand tour will be a triumph! We look STRONGLY forward to share some truly magical moments with our American fans on this tour, and judging from the reception we got on our short-but-sweet tour with CC this spring (hails!), this is gonna be A HELL OF A RIDE.
“To complete the line-up of this legendary 1349/Triptykon-tour, we have invited the splendid weirdos Yakuza as our special guests. “Come feel the Fire”…as Overkill would have said.”

In other news, BEHEMOTH recently finished filming and editing a new production video for the track Alas the Lord Is upon Me off their latest release Evangelion. The video was produced and directed by Rafal Szermanowicz and Grupa 13 who also shot BEHEMOTH’s videos for Ov Fire and the Void and At the left hand ov God. Stay tuned to Metal Blade TV and Behemoth’s sites for information on when the video will be premiered. In the meantime, fans can check out a video teaser and making of video for the new video on the band’s YouTube Channel HERE.
“Genesis To Nemesis,” was recorded with producer Brian Elliott at Mana Recording Studios (Goatwhore, Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal) in St. Petersburg, Florida, and picks up where 2007’s “A Symphony of Suffering,” (which Metal Hammer described as, “brave, unflinchingly inventive and jackhammer-heavy from beginning to end,”) left off, with a devastating mix of Floridian death metal and symphonic, sinister European black metal. The album features guest appearances by GWAR’s front man, Oderus Urungus, Erik Rutan, John Zahner of Savatage (who served as keyboard engineer) and Bill Hudson and John Slaughter of Coldera.
The track listing is as follows:
1. Into The N.O.X.
2. First of the Fallen
3. Lilith Ave Satanas (Bill Hudson, guest guitar solo)
4. Legacy of Kane (Erik Rutan, guest vocals)
6. Creeping Death (Oderus Urungus, guest vocals)
7. The Scar of David
8. Immaculate Deception
9. Graven Image (John Slaughter, guest guitar solo)
An extensive US tour will be announced in the next several weeks. The band has previously shared the stage with the likes of Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Atheist, Deeds of Flesh, Vile, and Impaled.
Swedish heavy metal sensations ENFORCER recently performed a blistering set at the UK’s Sonisphere festival in Knebworth in front of thousands of fans. With just a couple of weeks left until the band appears at Bloodstock festival, the members are feeling energetic and relaxed as the summer dates sail along smoothly.
Things aren’t always incident-free on tour though, as ENFORCER frontman OLOF WIKSTRAND recalls a rather scary encounter during the band’s North American tour with CAULDRON in late 2009:
“It was when me and Jonas finally got to Florida last year after 35 hours of driving. It was kinda dark. We went down to the sea to have a swim. Then I suddenly felt something touching my leg, and I was scared and went up to the surface. And then we saw shark fins sticking up everywhere in the sea. We even saw some sharks jumping… They were big! About 150 – 200cm, longer than I am tall.”
Thankfully, the young metallers managed to swim to shore, get out of the water and warn the others, living to tell the tale and finish the rest of the tour.
