December 28th, 2012
by EvilG

Kraków, Poland’s Black/Thrash Kommando RAGEHAMMER known mainly from unexpected live attacks conducted during last year along such hordes, as Thornafire, Embrional, Intestinal, Hell United, Christ Agony, Deivos or Ulcer, finally put finishing touches on the debut demo. War Hawks will consist of five pieces of pure Black/Thrash Metal, full of hatred, scorn and lack of respect for the living and the dead as well, inspired by such murderous squadrons as Nifelheim, Desaster, Gehennah, Von, Impaled Nazarene, Deströyer 666 or Darkthrone. The extermination plan looks as follows: RageHammer Rising, Prophet of Genocide, Hate Command, The Wolfpack, Gospel of the Scum.Stop wasting good air – cease breathing.

Demo was recorded by the lineup consisting of: Corpsebutcher (bass), Bestial Avenger (guitars), Mortar (drums) and Heretik Hellstörm (vocals). The session took place at No Solace, mixed and mastered by M. (Mgla/Kriegsmachine/No Solace). AYREON mastermind Arjen Lucassen (also ex-BODINE, VENGEANCE) has been confirmed as one of the guest musicians who will appear on “The Mystery Of Time”, the new album from EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet’s AVANTASIA project. Also scheduled to make appearances on the CD are Michael Kiske (UNISONIC, HELLOWEEN), SAXON frontman Biff Byford, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick and drummer Russell Gilbrook of URIAH HEEP.

Commented Sammet: “To me, he used to be what John D. Rockerduck is to Scrooge McDuck: an adamant longtime rival; in our case, when it comes to producing rock operas. Well, if you can’t beat your enemy, make him your ally! And so I opened the door and literally invited pestilence into my world, ha!

“Seriously, the truth is that the ‘pestilence’ I’m talking about is really one of the nicest, coolest and loveliest plagues I’ve ever come to know, an ambitious artist through and through and a real great guitar player. So, having just come back from a shopping tour in 2912 — where apparently he found himself a brand new pair of bad-ass pants and boots — he went into the studio to record some additional lead guitar for the forthcoming AVANTASIA album, ‘The Mystery Of Time’: AYREON mastermind Arjen Anthony Lucassen!”

A YouTube clip containing footage of the orchestra recordings as well as a rough-mix sample of a song featuring Kiske is available below.

Bruce previously appeared on AVANTASIA’s “The Wicked Symphony” and “Angel Of Babylon” CDs and Tobias contributed guest vocals to Bruce’s last solo release, “BK3”.

The new AVANTASIA CD is being recorded in part at VOX Klangstudio in Bendestorf, Germany with producer Sascha Paeth (KAMELOT, EDGUY, EPICA, RHAPSODY).

Immediately after the release of “The Mystery Of Time”, a metal opera based on a story written by Sammet, the band will embark on a full-fledged indoor tour, during which the band and special guests will bring the epic undertaking to the stage.

Since the performances will embrace all the different eras and history of AVANTASIA, these shows will feature an extended playing time and the entire evening will be dedicated to AVANTASIA with no support acts.

Tobias originally wanted to put AVANTASIA to rest after the release of the “The Flying Opera – Around The World In 20 Days” concert DVD in April 2011, but he has since had a change of heart. He explains, “Even though I love to record and tour with EDGUY, I didn’t foresee how much I need AVANTASIA when I decided to finish this chapter of my life in 2011. I didn’t know if there would be another AVANTASIA album one day, but I didn‘t feel like doing it. After the worldwide success of the latest studio releases, an arena world tour that was sold out pretty much everywhere, collaborations with childhood heroes like Alice Cooper, Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, Eric Singer of KISS, etc. I ‘knew’ that I had said everything I could possibly say in the name of AVANTASIA. But that’s not what AVANTASIA is all about. I wanna create more great music, I wanna create more fantasy worlds, the bigger and the more epic, the better. And listening to the material that I have created for this forthcoming chapter in the history of AVANTASIA, I know there is no way I am not going to do it! I have got the feeling and the certainty that this is absolutely meant to happen and to be!”

Man.Machine.Industry to Rockstad: Falun

December 27th, 2012
by EvilG

Since J. Bergman and his creation Man.Machine.Industry had the opportunity to appear in the PS3 / X-Box 360 The Darkness things moved on fast for the band . After playing Sweden Rock Festival in 2009 the band signed a record deal with GMR Music (Krux, Crucified Barbara, Kamchatka) and released their third album “White Trash Devil In a Jesus Christ Pose” in 2010.

The album got great response from both fans and media and the band went on the road playing with bands such as Dr: Midnight & The Mercy Cult, Sonic Syndicate, Deathstars, Corroded, Raubtier, Engel among others. The band also climbed as high as number ONE on the My Space top chart for Swedish bands and held the position for a week and top 50 for a month.

In April 2012 J.B and his machine released the critically acclaimed album “Lean Back, Relax and Watch The World Burn” getting the best response possible. The album also has a guest appearance from Jens Westin of CORRODED on the single/video track “Eighties” and on the second video/single you can hear/see fifteen fans taking part of the recording and also long time friend of J.B. Ronnie Nyman (Always War) appears in the song and video.

As a live band MMI is something special guaranties Sweden’s Close-Up Magazine when they graded the band 9/10
for a live show with the words:
-Bergman screams with an intensity that would scare even Lemmy himself.
You rarely hear metal more powerful and genuinely mean.

As always MMI delivers a wide spread in their albums, all from the heaviest of the heavy in songs like “Lean Back relax And Watch The World Burn” to the fast blasting drums in “Time”. The band also delivers their first ever ballad in “The Cage” where J.B gets to show that he has a soulful depth and feeling to his voice.

A song like “Vivite Et Sinite Mori (live & let die)” and “What You See Is What You Get” shows yet another side of the band, a more commercial side but without letting their aggressive side suffer. And in songs like “To A Blood Red Sky”, “AIM! HOLD! FIRE! “and “War God” you definitely hear their thrash metal riffs crunching away just as many songs on the previous album did.

J.B calls the music he makes HEAVY METAL with an industrial touch. Nothing more, nothing less. Watch a video here:

CHRIS CAFFERY – Plans To Record A New Solo CD

December 26th, 2012
by EvilG

“Well, the Christmas Story marathon has ended…the TSO marathon continues!!! Hard to believe it was 1999 when we first played here in Cleveland. Such an amazing ride so far! I remember the first post Christmas show we ever did was December 26 in Cleveland a couple years later! We had already played like 4 shows here and the demand was so huge we came back after Christmas as well! I remember sitting in my hotel room that night with Daryl Pediford. We were laughing, saying some silly jokes about something we only understood. I remember him talking about the ghosts. He said there were ghosts there. As I travel around and look back at the friends I have lost who I have worked with in this business I know for sure the ghosts are here. I feel them at different times. Onstage and offstage. Daryl, Criss, Ray Gillen…the list goes on. Amazing musicians and friends who are no longer with me this Christmas but are always there in spirit. Thank you so much for these past 25 years. That was the first time I played a December 26th show…my first show with Savatage on the Mountain King Tour in Providence. Since then I have traveled about 1/2 million miles, played for close to ten million people. I have truly been blessed. I know I am not a perfect person. But I always try to learn from my experiences and hope to leave each day making people smile. Every day I take a look here and see the thousands of you that stop by to say hi it makes me smile. Thank you for being my friends! I look forward to next year…I am planning on recording a new solo CD, it really seems to be what everyone is asking me to do when I see them on this tour. Savatage? I still am as hopeful as you guys, but you know how that one goes!!! TSO…studio and more touring of course…what and when? Always a mystery like the man behind TSO itself! That’s what makes it magical! This journey is never written in stone. As long as Paul is at the wheel I know it will be an amazing adventure! I, like you, can’t wait to see what comes up! But I am blessed to be a part of it and blessed to have your friendship and support! I am going to go walk and look at Christmas lights! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!!”

UNITED FORCES: Members Of Iconic NYHC/Thrash Outfit Begin New Chapter

December 24th, 2012
by EvilG

Subsequent to the demise of reunited NYC hardcore/speed metal legends Stormtroopers Of Death, two of the four members of the brutal faction have set out to forge a new path of punishment in 2013.

UNITED FORCES unites S.O.D.’s bassist Danny Lilker (Brutal Truth, Nuclear Assault, Nunfuckritual, Lock-Up,ex-Anthrax) and notorious frontman Billy Milano (Method Of Destruction), the longtime cohorts taking their mayhem to new turf. Milano and Lilker recruited two additional henchmen to help carry out their forthcoming disorder, with the thunderous Nick Barker (Lock-Up, Ancient, ex-Cradle of Filth, ex-Dimmu Borgir) on percussive duties, and Anton Reisenegger (Criminal, Pentagram Chile, Extreme Noise Terror, Lock Up) handling guitars. With Lilker located in upstate New York, Milano in central Texas, Barker in England and Reisenegger in Spain, details on the outfit’s plans concerning touring or recording remain unknown, but UNITED FORCES is, without question, a pending force with which to be dealt.

Notes vocalist Billy Milano on the eclectic union of metal soldiers: “I’m not out to reinvent myself at my age. I just want to have a lot of fun with this. We called it UNITED FORCES because we’re located all over the place, in different countries, but this is something we’re going to come together for.” Added four-string assaulter Danny Lilker: “It’s gonna be really fun to get together with some good friends — who are also great musicians — and play some earsplitting, hardcore-tinged thrash metal! And obviously, we know how to do just that.”

At this year’s installment of the Fun Fun Fun fest in Austin, Texas, modern thrash heavyweights Municipal Waste were joined by Lilker and Milano onstage to help unleash the S.O.D. staple “United Forces.”  Check out the carnage HERE.

Future UNITED FORCES plans will be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

AVANTASIA – First Audio Sample From New Album Unveiled, UNISONIC Vocalist Michael Kiske Confirmed

December 24th, 2012
by EvilG
AVANTASIA: 'The Flying Opera' DVD

AVANTASIA: ‘The Flying Opera’ DVD

AVANTASIA mastermind Tobia Sammet (EDGUY) has issued a special Christmas update for the fans:

“Hey friends, as you know I am currently working on a new Avantasia album. It’s a lot of work, but I am so proud of what we are creating right now – it’s amazing stuff. As my little Christmas gift to, and to make Christmas even a little more exciting for you, I’ll reveal some secrets today: Of course, Michael Kiske (UNISONIC, ex-HELLOWEEN) is on board again! I bet you expected this, you can hear him loud and clear, and he is still the number one vocalist in that range – unbelievable! But, what is really new: For the first time in the history of Avantasia, we’re working with a real symphonic orchestra: The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg! You may remember it, they have worked with RAMMSTEIN, BRYAN ADAMS, SHANIA TWAIN, and also with Edguy on the Hellfire Club album. It’s an enchanting fairytale we are working on, so we really have no choice but to finally have a real orchestra – after all it’s an epic Rock-, or probably Metal Opera! Okay, I don‘t wanna talk much, but wish you a Happy Christmas. If you click on the clip below, you can check out the orchestra recordings and also, you’ll hear a little sample, a rough mix of what’s to come in March 2013: The Mystery Of Time!

Enjoy… and Merry Christmas!”

As previously reported, Avantasia are the latest act confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival 2013. Sammet promises an even more celebrity-filled show, which says a lot since previous performances have included such names as Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, Jørn Lande and Bob Catley. This will be Avantasia’s only show in Sweden for the summer of 2013.

Sweden Rock Festival 2013 will take place June 5th – 8th in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

Sweden Rock Festival is a four-day festival with a total of 80 bands performing on five outdoor stages. More info can be found at

Avantasia’s complete live schedule can be found at this location.

Online Fundraiser For Late MINISTRY/RIGOR MORTIS Guitarist Michael “Mike” Scaccia Announced

December 24th, 2012
by EvilG
MIKE SCACCIA dead (Rigor Mortis, Ministry)

MINISTRY/RIGOR MORTIS Guitarist Michael “Mike” Scaccia

Michael “Mike” Scaccia, best known as the lead (and sometimes rhythm) guitarist for the metal bands MINISTRY, RIGOR MORTIS and THE REVOLTING COCKS died on December 23rd after suffering a seizure on stage at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas during Bruce Corbitt’s (Rigor Mortis) 50th birthday show. According to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, Scaccia’s death onstage was actually caused by a heart attack brought on by heart disease. Scaccia was 47 years old. He is survived by his wife by Jenny Rowen Scaccia and their two daughters Sarah and Taarna.

Corbitt has issued the following update:

” I’ve been giving the blessings to start an online Fundraiser for Mike Scaccia’s Wife Jenny and their Kids. So I will be posting the link for that soon. Also, there will possibly be a Scaccia Tribute/Benefit Show put together for them to honor Mike and also raise money to help them. It could be as soon as this coming weekend. So I will also need to know what bands are interested in being part of this or if anyone can help in any way.

I also understand that it is Christmas time and I know Mike wouldn’t want this to ruin that for anyone. He would want us all to know he went out doing what he loved doing surrounded by everyone he loved. He would want us to block this out and enjoy our Christmas with our families and loved ones. Anyway, the online Fundraiser will be up for awhile if you aren’t able to contribute anything right away. I will also post any updates on the possible Tribute show as soon as I know anything. THANKS AGAIN for all of the support that everyone has given to Mike’s family and friends.”

GEORGE LYNCH Confirms STRYPER Frontman On Board For T&N Tour in 2013

December 23rd, 2012
by EvilG
George Lynch

George Lynch

Legendary Rock Interviews recently caught up with guitarist GEORGE LYNCH (T&N, LYNCH MOB, ex-DOKKEN). An excerpt is available below:

LRI: Is it true that Michael Sweet of STRYPER will be the touring singer for T&N when you tour?

George: “Yeah, that was the decision we all collectively came up with, we thought he was really the right choice. Lynch Mob has done quite a few dates with Stryper and we know Michael as a man and he’s just such a wonderful guy which is important at this stage in the game. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way over the years and now it’s to the point where you just wanna work with people who want to work with you and are dedicated, honest, transparent and have a good work ethic. Michael is obviously talented, we all knew that but he is also ust a good person who has all of those qualities and architecture and is a solid guy but more importantly his voice is really suited to what we are trying to accomplish live which is to recreate the Dokken stuff faithfully. Jeff’s voice is not necessarily ideal for all of that because he has a bit of a raspier, harder edge which is better suited to the original music that T&N has done, Jeff will do some of the Dokken stuff but then Michael will come in and do some of the material that he’s better at. The other advantage we have with Michael Sweet other than him being just a great human being is that he’s a really good guitar player and really suited to playing the rhythm parts we have which is something we really need collectively in this band and for this material. There’s a lot of guitars on this record and we wanna reproduce the record faithfully. Plus, he’s not a bad lookin guy either!”

LRI: I was really hoping it was true because I am a huge fan but kind of got the feeling that Michael didn’t want me to formally announce it. His mother put it out there on Facebook (laughs). Is it formally announced? Is it alright for fans to officially plan on this?

George: “I guess we just announced it (laughs). It’s something that we held back on only because of the fact that the tour isn’t going to happen for a few months, like I said, we are going to finish this second album and then tour behind the both of them. We just have so many other touring commitments and Michael has Stryper so the timing has to be just right but we are looking to have that in place for summer of 2013.”

LRI: There are also a great many people who are under the impression that your band Lynch Mob is also over and broken up which is partially because of Robbie Crane talking about his leaving the band. The last EP was probably the best thing you’ve ever done. Is there any future for Lynch Mob?

George: “We have half a record which is just on the shelf, it’s something we’ve been working on for quite a long time and it’s beautiful and I would really hate to see the record not be heard but at this point it’s only half done and I don’t know exactly when we will be getting back together to finish it, if at all but I am hopefully optimistic (laughs). We all have a lot of other things going on though and I understand that, Robbie’s got some other project, Oni (Logan, vocalist) is doing DIO DISCIPLES, and I have two or three very heavy projects going on with the T&N thing, the movie and associated band SHADOW TRAIN which is working on the soundtrack to the movie, and then the album I am making with Doug Pinnick of KING’S X and Ray Luzier of KORN.”

Click here for the complete interview.”

T&N’s debut album, Slave To The Empire, “offers eight new original songs and four re-recorded classic Dokken songs that feature sensational vocal performances by Tim “Ripper” Owens (DIO DISCIPLES, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), Doug Pinnick (KING’S X), Sebastian Bach (ex-SKID ROW), and Robert Owens (WARRANT). Add to the mix the hard hitting, multi-talented drumming of Brian Tichy (ex-BILLY IDOL, OZZY OSBOURNE, SLASH) and you’ve got yourself a major dose of awesome!”

“Mick, Jeff and I have been playing together for many years,” states Lynch. “When we go way back in time, we always had the most fun when we were just sitting in a room together or up on stage with the three of us playing.”

“Don’t think of this as Dokken without Don – that’s misleading,” adds Pilson. “Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to Dokken music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally. Don is, and will always be, the singer of Dokken and an invaluable part of the Dokken chemistry.”

Slave To The Empire is out now via Rat Pack Records.

Slave To The Empire tracklisting:

‘Slave To The Empire’
‘Sweet Unknown’
‘Tooth And Nail’ (featuring Doug Pinnick of King’s X)
‘It’s Not Love’ (featuring Robert Mason of Warrant)
‘Rhythm Of The Soul’

‘Into The Fire’ (Jeff Pilson)
‘Alone Again’ (featuring Sebastian Bach)
‘Mind Control’
‘Kiss Of Death’ (featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens)
