One of the most important and influential bands in Poland, legend of extreme underground scene, returns on stage!
MAGNUS signed a contract with Witching Hour Production for releasing 2 studio albums and reissues of all recordings from the 90s.
Creators of “Scarlet Slaughterer”, “I Was Watching My Death” and “Alcoholic Suicide” return fully equipped and with combat readiness. This will definitely by just the return to past – MAGNUS at the end of first decade of XXI century is stronger and more dangerous than ever.
First outcome of cooperation with Witching Hour will be new album „ACCEPTANCE OF DEATH” which will see the light of day in September. 13 songs recorded for this release is the essence of death/thrash/black as it was played in the 80’s. Songs’ structures, specific sound and atmosphere that reminds of such acts as SARCOFAGO and early SEPULTURA give us the impression of time being stopped in that decade. MAGNUS is the living legend and the proof of old school glory – you will have the chance to check it on your own on 15th September, when “Acceptance Of Death” will hit the stores – 40 minutes of uncompromising attack in vein of fierce Brazilian and Columbian acts.
Soon after the release of new album, Witching Hour will re-release the older recordings of MAGNUS.
Magnus, who started it’s career in 1987, recorded three incredible albums in the 90s, and played live with such acts as Napalm Death, Deicide, Gorefest, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse. The band disbanded in 1997 to return with new album in 2010.

That simple comment set us on a path which would eventually lead to us making our own tribute Dio music video (seen below) and deciding to give the jacket and some other prizes away. The video below was a blast to make and is OUR moto music video; a tribute to our favorite singer.

Promo pictures from the Hartmann website.
Oliver Hartmann is one of the most renowned singers in the melodic hardrock scene. He has recently released his third solo album simply titled 3. I thought that the album was brilliant and felt like it was time to check out what this genius singer was up to. Hartmann had the time to sit down and had a chat with me. Besides his own solo career we also talked about his performances on the Avantasia albums and his collaborations with Edguy singer Tobias Sammett.
In advance of his new album, Scream, OZZY OSBOURNE took over the Sunset Strip with two record release events yesterday (Sunday, June 20th).
That afternoon, the rock icon hosted an in-store signing at Amoeba Music on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Later that night, some lucky fans joined Ozzy for a private record release playback and rare club performance down Sunset Blvd. at the House Of Blues.
The first 600 fans in line who purchased a copy at Amoeba Music also received a free ticket to that night’s House Of Blues performance.
Ozzy’s setlist was as follows:
‘Bark At The Moon’
‘Let Me Hear You Scream’
‘I Don’t Know’

Poland’s TVN Warszawa recently aired a report on the program Stolica covering the June 16th kick-off show of the Big Four festival tour featuring METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX. Check it out below.
The Big Four – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax are bringing their historic European tour to the global stage with a concert shown via satellite in High-Definition (HD) in Cineplex Entertainment theatres across the country. These four legendary acts broke out of the underground thrash movement in the 1980’s to dominate the metal world, selling millions of records and packing arenas across the globe. Despite huge demand, these musical giants have never shared the same stage until now. The legendary concert from the tour’s stop at the Sonisphere Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria will air on Tuesday, June 22nd at more than 65 Cineplex theatres in Canada.
In December 2009, the bands announced that they would be joining forces to take part in the traveling Sonisphere Festival for only seven shows across Europe. Now, this one-time only event from the Sofia show makes it possible for fans far and wide to participate in what otherwise is a very limited run of dates. The HD concert presentation will memorialize the event and the impact will be amplified globally with the cinema screenings, making the dreams of fans around the world over become a reality.
Lars Ulrich of Metallica says of this historic announcement, “Who would have thought that more than 25 years after its inception, thrash metal’s Big Four would not only still be around, be more popular than ever, playing shows together at stadiums all over Europe, and on top of that, coming to a movie theatre near you in High Definition (for better or worse??!!). Bring it on!”
Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian says “Damn, as if this Big Four tour wasn’t exciting enough now we get to be on the big screen worldwide! Metal at the movies, two big horns up! It is unbelievably gratifying that this means so much to the metal community around the globe. Get your tix, grab some popcorn and get ready to bang your head!”
Declares Slayer’s Kerry King: “I can’t believe someone didn’t make this happen 15 years ago! The fans finally get what they want. I think it’s awesome!”
Says Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine: “The magnitude of this event hasn’t really sunk in yet, and I am thrilled to know that people around the planet will be able to walk into a movie theatre and experience the greatest line up of heavy metal in the history of the world!”
In the world of heavy metal, flashy guitar players are a dime a dozen, but you’d be hard pressed to find many that can compare with the over-the-top fret-scorching licks of heavy metal six-string hero Jack Starr. With a career in metal that now spans thirty years and counting, Jack has amassed an endless amount of writing, recording, and touring with such acts as Virgin Steele where he was a founding member, Jack Starr’s Burning Starr, Strider, Phantom Lord and Jack Starr’s Guardians of the Flame among others. He has worked with some of metal’s most respected vocalists including David DeFeis, the late great Rhett Forrester, Mike Tirelli, and Shmoulik Avigal. After a twenty year hiatus performing and recording under the Burning Starr moniker, Jack shocked the metal world with his triumphant comeback album "Defiance" released through Magic Circle Music. Taking some time from his hectic schedule in-between final mixes of his upcoming new album, Jack brings us up to date on his latest activities.
As the anticipation surrounding the imminent release of the new IN THIS MOMENT album, A Star-Crossed Wasteland, continues to build up to epic proportions the group launches an in-depth track by track video commentary with Maria Brink (vocals) and Chris Howorth (guitars).
A four-minute video message introducing Adam Pierce, the new drummer for the Oakland, California extreme metal band ALL SHALL PERISH, can be viewed below:
ALL SHALL PERISH recently parted ways with original drummer Matt Kuykendall. The group stated at the time, “It’s always tough to part ways with a longtime member and friend, but it was absolutely necessary in order to maintain forward progress.”
The band’s most recent lead guitarist, Jason Richardson, left ALL SHALL PERISH and has since been temporarily replaced by Francesco Artusato from Treviso, Italy.
ALL SHALL PERISH will support the legendary DANZIG on 4 shows of his upcoming mini-tour this June.
“Our jaws dropped when DANZIG personally requested ALL SHALL PERISH to join him on tour,” stated the band recently. “It’s a true honor to open for such a musical legend. We hope to get the crowd excited and pumped up for him!”
Tasmania’s technical death metallers PSYCROPTIC have announced a series of North American headlining dates in the middle of and following their tour with NILE. Confirmed tour dates for the „Those Whom The Gods Detest Tour II“ and their headlining shows are as follows…
Santa Cruz doom ‘n rollers DUSTED ANGEL have just completed their debut full-length, and are putting the final touches on this beast, planning for it to be set loose this late this summer.
The burly, self-titled, 7-track melee was put to tape in San Francisco by sludgemonger Billy Anderson (High on Fire, Neurosis, Sleep) in April, mastered at TrakWorx Studios, and will see release mid-late summer on Mankind Records — a division of Revelation Records. A solid year of live shows along the west coast have the members of DUSTED ANGEL conditioned to jam tighter than ever, building upon the rocking hardcore-meets-stoner/doom dynamics fans of the band already love, and taking these songs to massive new levels of crushing groove. The official release date, as well as the album’s track listing and cover art, will all be announced in the coming weeks.
Several strings of California gigs, including record release shows and more, are being scheduled for the coming months building towards the album’s release, and the band will also relocate to the east coast for a battery of shows sometime later this year.
DUSTED ANGEL contains members of crucial skatecore legends Bl’ast, metal experimentalists Spaceboy, sonic mindfuckers Gargantula and more. All longtime friends from time spent in previous bands, or just from growing up in the Santa Cruz skate/surf/slam scene together for the past 20 years, brought the band together in 2008. They’ve done nothing but rock ever since…
Stay tuned for more updates on the album, the shows, the chaos, of DUSTED ANGEL.
India’s only horror metal band Albatross has released the song “The Dining Table” online. The song is from their forthcoming EP release- Dinner is You. The album has been mixed and engineered in India by the band’s guitarist Raj.B and mastered by King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque. The art for the same was designed by Ameya Chavan with special contributions from Therion vocalist Snowy Shaw. The band is looking at a tentative July release.
The album Dinner is You is a four song concept album about the Kuru Disease – a laughing disease which afflicts cannibals. The album is one of India’s most awaited albums.
Los Angeles, CA (June 18, 2010) – It’s not uncommon for a musician to record more work than they release. In Vai’s case, the Grammy® award-winning guitarist has a digital ocean of snippets in various degrees of completion. Some are leftovers from assorted sessions, projects that were never completed, soundcheck jams, or songs that were specific to a particular venture. “There are enough lonely, unreleased notes in my world to fill an infinity shelf,” says Vai. In between composing new scores for his upcoming performance with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Vai has transformed these snippets into full, lush songs and these rarities are being released as a series of single digital downloads called VaiTunes.
Each release comes with a PDF booklet containing detailed notes about the creation of the song, the story behind the recording, and gear involved. The latest release from the series, “The Moon and I” evolved from a soundcheck jam in Athens, Greece in the spring of 2000. The PDF liner notes allow the listener to follow Vai as he birthed the chord changes in Greece and subsequently watered and fertilized the song ten years later half way around the world in his Encino studio. Equally fascinating is the story of the guitar used to finish “The Moon and I.” Under unique circumstances, Vai recently purchased an original Desert Yellow Ibanez JEM 777DY guitar, a guitar he designed in 1987, from a local pawnshop and named the guitar “Moon.”
Vai plans to offer one track every month or so, each one representing a unique moment in his personal musical history. The releases can be purchased via iTunes and other digital music providers worldwide through www.vai.com/vaitunes.
SCORPIONS guitar legend Rudolf Schenker spoke with New York Magazine’s Vulture recently about a number of topics. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
Vulture: Why are you stopping now?
Schenker: “Now we can say we’re doing a last tour and giving the people a complete picture of the Scorpions. How often did you go to a party and you had a feeling around one o’clock to leave but then you met one of your friends, who says, ‘Let’s have one drink together,’ and then it’s five o’clock, and the next morning you said, “How stupid I was to not find the right moment to leave.” I think that’s the most important point. We want to make a decision when we finish, not the people.”
Vulture: What do you plan on doing with all your time off?
Schenker: “For me, it’s a way of creating new music, maybe doing an album with my brother (MICHAEL SCHENKER). I wrote a book called Rock Your Life, which is released already in other countries, so I could promote that. There are lots of things to do.”
Vulture: You lived the dream. You were on top of the mountain. What did you see while you were up there?
Schenker: There is not much to see up there because everything down there is very small. You don’t have to stay up there. By seeing where the best place is, then you have an orientation of where you can go.”
