GOATWHORE lined up for three amazing tours after an incredible run on 2010’s Ozzfest! Band to enter the studio in early 2011!

September 16th, 2010
by EvilG

After a very successful run on this summer’s Ozzfest, New Orleans, Louisiana’s sons of American no-frills black metal meets death and roll GOATWHORE will be once again hitting the road in support of their current album CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD, which came out in June 2009. Starting on September 22 in Raleigh, NC at Volume 11, GOATWHORE will be joining label mates The Absence for 6 dates and will head straight into the start of The Black Dahlia Murder tour that kicks off on September 28 in Columbus OH at Skully’s. Shortly after the tour alongside fellow label mates The Black Dahlia Murder, GOATWHORE will be ending a very successful year of touring by joining Watain and Black Anvil for a tour that takes the band across the US throughout the month of November. Shortly after GOATWHORE finishes up their run with Watain and Black Anvil, the band will be entering the studio to begin recording their 5th full-length album, and 3rd for Metal Blade Records. More details on the studio and the new material will be made available over the coming months on Metal Blade’s and GOATWHORE’s sites.

“Just when one tour comes to an end another few step into place. We have, as always, put an extreme effort on touring for each release we put out. Our most current release, CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD, is no exception and has brought us on many great touring adventures. Just returning home from Ozzfest 2010 we find ourselves locking in the rest of the year with two excellent tours. First, alongside our good friends in The Black Dahlia Murder, then a final end of the year outing with the black art of Watain. The Ozzfest experience was a great thing to be a part of. Playing and hanging with good friends and the bonus of watching some legendary musicians that have influenced us from our earlier metal years. We are looking forward to finishing up the year and getting things rolling for the next release. Hope to see everyone on the road in the next couple of months” comments vocalist Ben Falgoust.

Drummer Zack Simmons adds; “this has been a great time touring for this record. We’ve been very fortunate to been included on a lot of good tours. It was an honor to be included on Ozzfest once again. We are very confident and determined to deliver another killer record and tour our asses off again, as we always do! Stay fuck!!! Stay thirsty, my friends! P.S. Be careful where you store your sewing needles. You never know what can happen…”

WARRANT wine out NOW!

WARRANT wine out NOW!

Warrant now has it’s official red wine called what else?

Cherry Pie Red!!!

The label follows the rock theme that fans will love and the wine in the bottle… a real wine drinker will rock out to the taste!

Warrant’s 2007 Cherry Pie Red
Napa Valley

As with the strum of the electric guitar and the bang of a big bass drum within a rock anthem melody, this sexy wine strokes balance and resonates with flavors of cherries, raspberries and mocha. The notes finish with innuendo of espresso and tobacco. Great acidity pairs it well with foods such as spaghetti, beef, and spicy dishes. Also pairs well with classic rock, good times & great friends. $39.99 (US)

PRIMAL FEAR Vocalist Ralf Scheepers Further Comments on Guitarist Henny Wolter’s Departure

September 15th, 2010
by EvilG
RALF SCHEEPERS

RALF SCHEEPERS

Earlier today, Henny Wolter elaborated to Metal-Rules.com on why he quit Primal Fear. His posting can be read here. After this became public, we were contacted by Ralf Scheepers with a further explanation on what went down. His comments are below:

“It is pretty unfair to complain about a 2 man enterprise although he has been invited to join the company. He didn’t do it though due to the lack of having the balls to take the financial risk. All in all it was only a matter of earning money for Henny in the end anyway, that’s why his statement about PF not being a band anymore is simply the biggest joke on earth! We have even canceled shows because one guy -> “Henny” didn’t want to do them as of getting less fee as usual. Not to mention that the 2 man enterprise wouldn’t have received any money at all for those shows.

Stop telling lies and shame on you Henny!

With best regards,
Ralf Scheepers”

Guitarist Henny Wolter Further Elaborates on His Departure from Primal Fear

September 15th, 2010
by EvilG
Guitarist Henny Wolter

Guitarist Henny Wolter

Guitarist Henny Wolter, recently dropped the bombshell that he had quit Primal Fear. In a blog posting earlier this week he said “it didn’t feel like a band anymore.”  Metal-Rules.com caught up with Henny to get an elaboration and to get a little more detail on his new band, Nitrogods.

On the topic of leaving Primal Fear Henny said: “I am kind of bummed myself, because I liked the musical side of it. But unfortunately that was pushed aside by too many other annoying things. As much as I appreciate playing to a larger audience and recording and working on a pretty high professional level, I am not willing to put up with the way they run their business anymore. Most people and fans know, and it is rather obvious that PF is a 2 man enterprise. I even guess there´s nothing wrong with that for some people and I certainly knew what I was in for when I got into it the second time. But lately it´s gotten to a point at which I don´t wanna serve as a writer and performer no more. I have always been a band-guy and that´s the way I like to work. It used to be that way in my former bands like Thunderhead and I really missed that in PF.

Henny is not playing with the band on their upcoming tour dates that start in a few days commenting “No. I won´t be playing for them anymore at all.

Henny is also no longer in Sinner. Speculation is that he no longer saw eye to eye with band leader Mat Sinner to which Henny commented “I am not too keen on having to deal with Mat and probably vice versa :)“.

With the announcement of his departure from Primal Fear, Henny announced the formation of a new band Nitrogods. He further commented that “Nitrogods is a three-piece and it will be much more Rock´n Roll than PF. Rather in the vein of Thunderhead or early (Eddie Clark, Philthy Taylor era) Motörhead.

Hope to see all my fans and friends on tour soon.

TARJA TURUNEN: “What Lies Beneath” Out Today + “Making Of” The Album Video

September 14th, 2010
by EvilG
Tarja - International Cover

Tarja - International Cover

What Lies Beneath is the new album from the Finnish multi-platinum singer Tarja Turunen, best known as the original vocalist of Nightwish and the most successful female singer from Finland ever.

Effortlessly fusing metal, classical and pop-rock, What Lies Beneath was recorded and produced by Tarja and mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, The Cure, Robert Plant), Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Bullet For My Valentine) and Slamm Andrews (Scores of Angels & Demon, Pirates of The Caribbean, Gladiator).

The album debuted this week at #4 on the German charts and Noisecreep recently detailed the videos for the first single, “Until My Last Breath,” and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, which can be seen below:

Special guests on What Lies Beneath include Phil Labonte (All That Remains), Joe Satriani, Jason Hook (5 Finger Death Punch), Will Calhoun (Living Colour), The Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and Choir and more. About.com said the album features “tons of melody to spare, and Tarja’s soaring soprano all over the place” while RockSound extolls, “this remains very much a distinctly classy showcase for Turunen’s utterly flawless, inimitable vocals, strong songwriting skills, and admirable desire to neither rest on her laurels, nor confine herself to any particular style.”

Recorded During The Cowboys Sessions

Ultimate Edition Featuring Replica Memorabilia
From The Era Available November 22

LOS ANGELES – PANTERA found its growl and groove on COWBOYS FROM HELL, a landmark album whose bone-powdering intensity, razor-sharp riffing and pummeling rhythmic assault represented a turning point in modern metal when it was released in 1990. More than just PANTERA’s major label debut, many consider this album to be the official debut of the PANTERA lineup with singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul and bassist Rex Brown.

To celebrate the 20-year anniversary of COWBOYS FROM HELL, Rhino rounds up a three-disc Ultimate Edition, a three-disc Deluxe Edition, and a two-disc Expanded Edition. All three editions include a newly remastered version of the original album along with unreleased and rare live performances from the “Cowboys From Hell” Tour.

The Ultimate and Deluxe Editions will also feature a disc of unreleased demos for nearly every album track, plus, “The Will To Survive,” a previously unreleased song recorded during the album’s sessions.

“’The Will To Survive’ is a great track. With so many killer songs, it was hard to pick and choose the ones that should make our major label debut,” says Paul. “After hearing it for the first time in about 20 years, its a pretty stellar performance and I am definitely proud that it will see the light of day for all the die hard PANTERA fans around the world! It shows the true musical diversity of the band at that time!”

The Deluxe and Expanded Editions of COWBOYS FROM HELL will be released September 14 at all retail outlets, including www.pantera.com and www.rhino.com. The Deluxe Edition will be available for a suggested list price of $29.98 (physical) and $17.99 (digital) and the Expanded Edition for $19.98 (physical) and $12.99 (digital).

The Ultimate Edition will feature all three discs included in the Deluxe Edition and will be housed in an intricate box including several replica memorabilia pieces from the Cowboys era. The Ultimate Edition will be available on November 23 and final pre-order details, as well as the contents, will be unveiled soon on PANTERA’s Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Pantera.

Along with the remastered version of COWBOYS FROM HELL, all three sets include a disc of live music recorded during the tour for the album. It begins with seven unreleased performances from PANTERA’s September 15, 1990 appearance at the Foundations Forum metal convention in California, a show recorded for radio broadcast but never released commercially. The remainder of the disc contains the five-song EP Alive And Hostile, a collection of performances recorded in 1991 at the Monsters of Rock festival in Moscow that was previously available only in Australia as part of a 1994 boxed set.

The Ultimate and Deluxe Editions of COWBOYS FROM HELL include a third disc that contains the previously unreleased “The Will To Survive,” along with demos for 10 of the album’s 12 songs, including early versions of the title track, “Psycho Holiday,” “The Art Of Shredding” and “Cemetery Gates.”

After being turned down “twenty-eight times by every major label on the face of the earth,” ATCO Records A&R rep Mark Ross saw the band when Hurricane Hugo stranded him in Texas. The rest, as they say, is history, including another seven years and over a million miles of touring for COWBOYS to be certified Platinum (one million album sales) by the RIAA.

The album’s liner notes include essays by each of the band’s surviving members, producer Terry Date, and the aforementioned Ross. Recalling the first time he saw Pantera, Ross writes, “By the end of the first song, my jaw was on the floor. The sonic power of it all—the attitude and the musicianship—blew me away. Basically, you had to be an idiot to not think they’re amazing. I mean, how could you see these guys and not think, Holy shit!?
