Michigan thrash institution NOCTURNAL FEAR check in with the following studio report for forthcoming album Excessive Cruelty: “We look forward to recording our next assault this winter,” according to NF mastermind Chris Slavehunter. “This new shit will be our heaviest yet. I’ve begun a relationship with Engl amps outta Germany and received two prototype Powerball heads with my custom Vektor mod done to them by my guitar tech, and as always, I’ll be playing my USA BC Rich Bich guitars custom modded to play extreme WAR METAL! As the number-one band supporting the US Armed Forces, I promise our new album, Excessive Cruelty, will cause massive collateral damage on a genocidal scale!”
As previously reported, NOCTURNAL FEAR recently added new member Warmonger on bass. The band is rounded out by Devastator on vocals, Rev. Chris Slavehunter PhD on all guitars, and Aggressor on drums. A release date for NOCTURNAL FEAR’s Excessive Cruelty will be announced later this year. In the meantime, consult www.myspace.com/nocturnalfear and www.moribundcult.com.
Italian Death Metalists, Humangled will be filming a video for the track “Liquidfire,” from their Abyss Records debut, Fractal. Humangled has teamed up with award-winning director / screenwriter Vincezno Ricchiuto for the shoot. Filming is scheduled to get underway this month.
Guitarist Luke Scurb has this to say about the video’s subject matter, “Liquidfire is a severe analysis of the loss of consciousness due to drug abuses. In many cases, modern society and the lack of values lead to terrible consequences.”
Fractal was released in June of this year through Abyss Records and has already caught the ear of fans and critics worldwide.
The animated comedy duo that made metalheads look like complete morons could be set for a return!
According to Reviewniverse, we might get our chance to see the duo on TV once again. A full statement reads: “REVIEWniverse has exclusively learned from an anonymous source that Mike Judge is currently outlining 30 new episodes of his iconic animated comedy Beavis and Butt-Head for its native network.
“The source conceded that plans for actual broadcast are not yet cemented, or even a given, but confirmed that the King of the Hill/Office Space/Idiocracy maestro is definitely in the midst of writing new B and B material with the hopes of a full-throttle return…Judge plans on retaining the show’s original ghetto-tech aesthetic, right down to the faded color palatte.”
German power metallers RAGE have extended their deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
“We are happy that our common history will continue,” the band said in a statement. “At Nuclear Blast we really feel at home and we look forward to all upcoming projects. After the great success of the last RAGE album ‘Strings To A Web’, we are even more motivated and we saw the same energy in Nuclear Blast as well.”
“Strings To A Web” entered the Media Control chart in the band’s home country at position No. 27. Released on February 5 via Nuclear Blast Records, the CD was recorded at Twilight Hall Studio and was produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL). The cover artwork was created by Thomas Ewerhard (AVANTASIA, THERION), and it shows the soundchaser as a spider, caught in a web.
The special two-track single, “Into The Light / Purified”, was released on January 15.
The limited-edition digibook version of “Strings To A Web” includes a high-quality DVD including 15 live clips. The main portion of the DVD consists of the “best-of” show RAGE played at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2009, including guest appearances by Hansi Kürsch (BLIND GUARDIAN), Schmier (DESTRUCTION) and Jen Majura (BLACK THUNDER LADIES).
“Strings To A Web” includes melodic and anthemic tracks such as “Into The Light” and “The Beggar’s Last Dime”, as well as powerful thrashers like “Purified” and “Tomorrow Never Comes”. But the heart of the record comes in the shape of the 16-minute masterpiece “Empty Hollow”, a progressive fairytale that unites everything RAGE is about.

ANGELS OF BABYLON is the answer to your heavy metal supergroup prayers. This new amalgamation of epic sound features former MANOWAR drummer Rhino, Arizona based power-metal vocalist David Fefolt, guitarist Ethan Brosh and MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson. Their debut album Kingdom of Evil was released in Europe by Metal Heaven Records in January of 2010, and in Japan with Hydrant Music in May of 2010. ANGELS OF BABYLON recently signed with Burnhill Union Records, who will be releasing the record to the United States on July 27th, 2010. Kingdom of Evil is now remastered, and features three previously unreleased tracks.
With this intense line-up of heavy metal greats and sharp musicians, ANGELS OF BABYLON is sure to see success in this evolving industry and genre. Forging ahead with the sounds of classic metal, while bringing fusion of new technique and prowess, the band is a new force to be reckoned with. With the launch of Kingdom of Evil worldwide, Earth will soon know the excellence that is ANGELS OF BABYLON.
“At a point in metal history when the best music moving forward is really drawing from our pasts, ANGELS OF BABYLON has become a unique and eclectic composition of music and styles, encompassing many from across the entire genre,” states bassist David Ellefson. “Power, melody, and hooks stand the test of time regardless of what category the ‘experts’ put it in.”
ANGELS OF BABYLON drummer and Nashville, TN native Rhino began compiling tracks featured on Kingdom of Evil many years ago, but was patiently waiting for the optimum lineup to record and release an album. Rhino is well known for his amazing work with MANOWAR. In 1991, Rhino appeared on The Triumph of Steel; one of MANOWAR’s best selling album to date. Rhino continued on with MANOWAR, touring Europe multiple times and cruising through Japan between 1992-1995. Rhino left MANOWAR in 1995 to pursue personal interest. In the coming years, Rhino was soon introduced to Fefolt, Ellefson and Brosh, and they provided the key to his inspiration to forge ahead and complete the album.
Vocalist David Fefolt feels this album will surprise a lot of people due to its classic metal sound, but with an accent of majestic arrangements throughout. Fefolt was a member of the epic metal band, VALHALLA, and their debut album is still considered one of the staples of metal vinyl collectors worldwide.
Bassist David Ellefson is well known for his time with thrash icons MEGADETH. From1983 to 2002, Ellefson held his place as the co-founder and original bassist in the band. In February of 2010, Ellefson rejoined the ranks of MEGADETH, just in time for the much anticipated “Rust In Peace” 20th Anniversary tour of North America, aside fellow thrash legends TESTAMENT and EXODUS.
Guitarist Ethan Brosh graduated from Berklee in 2004 with honors and a major in songwriting before returning to the school in 2008 to teach. Brosh is currently an instructor in the guitar sessions program. His debut instrumental album Out of Oblivion, was released on March 24th 2009 by Magna Carta Records, and features impressive guest appearances and production credits.
DARK ORDER is proud to announce that our new album ‘COLD WAR OF THE CONDOR’ will be released worldwide by BattleGod/Twighlight on 20th AUGUST 2010, along side our American Metal brothers HARKONIN and their new album ‘DETEST’ !
COLD WAR OF THE CONDOR was forged in the fire of human blood, it will form an ultimate testament to those of the dead and disappeared, who will have new voice, and be the unforgotten…
This has been a long time coming for us, 3 combined years writing, 2.5 years of recording, mixing and mastering, so we thank EVERYONE for their patients. You will NOT be disappointed with this album.
THIS IS TRUE MODERN THRASH METAL, not like other bands who claim to be Thrash and sound like something else.
; Interviews Available The members of Greek thrash quartet SUICIDAL ANGELS are now available for interviews in support of their new album Sanctify The Darkness, which was released recently in North America by Sonic Unyon Metal. The album, which was released in Canada and the USA on June 22nd, 2010, was released in Europe by Nuclear Blast in late 2009. Today, Stereokiller.com has premiered the track “Beyond The Laws Of Church” from Sanctify The Darkness; check out this scorcher here: http://www.stereokiller.com/SuicidalAngels SUICIDAL ANGELS have been very busy in 2010. After a European tour supporting Overkill, the band then did their first ever headlining tour of Europe, with support from Canada’s Cauldron and Sweden retro metallers Enforcer. The band completed work on their upcoming third studio album in June, and also recently played the Sonisphere Festival in Athens, Greece on June 24th along with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax, something which was a dream come true for the band. Footage from SUICIDAL ANGELS’ performance at Sonisphere Greece can now be viewed online at:
“Thursday, June 24th. About 12 o’clock and even before we hit the stage you are out there, rooting for us and ready to wreck the place. And that’s what you did…,” stated SUICIDAL ANGELS guitarist Nick. “From the first note, you were banging your heads, moshing, beating the shit out of each other, screaming your lungs out! We haven’t felt more excited before and you could see that in us. We want to thank everyone who was there; it was and forever will be, an honor, to open that festival for you. Until next time, Thrash ‘Till Death!” SUICIDAL ANGELS will be taking part in Thrashfest 2010 this November and December. The tour, which is already being called the “thrash metal tour of the year”, also features Kreator, Exodus, and Death Angel.
An as of yet untitled project featuring Matt Bachand and Jon Donais on guitars (Shadows Fall), Derek Kerswill on drums (Unearth/Seemless), and Jeff Fultz on bass (Seemless), has begun to take shape. The band has recorded a five song demo thus far, and are actively seeking a vocalist.
“We are looking for one crazy bastard with the energy, the drive, and the determination to take this thing to the next level,” says Matt Bachand. Jon Donais adds, “The vocalist we seek should be influenced by a variety of melodically based bands anywhere from Alice In Chains, Shinedown, and Aerosmith, to Skid Row and Pantera.” You must be serious about the position, and must be able to tour extensively. Demo submissions are currently being accepted. Submissions should include a bio and list of past experience, photo, audio and/or video performance, and any other information you would like the band to know.
The second of four portions of the new artwork for the as-yet-untitled DIMMU BORGIR album has been uploaded to the band’s MySpace page.
When asked if fans should look for something hidden in the artwork that may not be obvious at first glance, German artist / painter / graphic designer Joachim Luetke (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Sopor Aeternus) responds: “It’s not like looking at a picture puzzle, but if you listen to the music while looking at the imagery, an additional dimension will unfold before your eyes, that’s for sure. Learning about the real meaning of the album title is also a useful key to it.”
In early June, DIMMU BORGIR proudly announced their collaboration with Norwegian composer and Berklee College of Music summa cum laude alumnus Gaute Storaas in addition to the 51 members of KORK (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra) and the 38-member Schola Cantorum Choir for their new release. To date, over 101 musicians have contributed to the making of the new album.
Composer Gaute Storaas has said of DIMMU BORGIR: “There have been several attempts of dressing up rock bands in suits, bow ties, and symphonic splendor – to various degrees of success. My role in this is sometimes just to transcribe their themes, sometimes to take their ideas, tear them apart and build them back up in ways that are true to the band’s intentions.”
DIMMU BORGIR’s ninth studio album will be released in Germany on September 24th, in the rest of Europe on September 27th, and in North America on October 12th.
NUCLEAR BLAST TO RELEASE NEW CRADLE OF FILTH ALBUM IN NORTH AMERICA
One of the most infamous and notorious names in metal, CRADLE OF FILTH, continue to shock, excite, disgust and inspire in equal measures. On November 9, 2010 in North America, the latest chapter of the band’s dark history will be released through Nuclear Blast USA.
Frederick Jude, Managing Director of Peaceville Records, comments on this upcoming cooperative effort: “Football aside, we’re pleased to be teaming up with Nuclear Blast on this very important release. Given their resources, interest in the band, and track record in the U.S., we believe CRADLE OF FILTH will be best positioned to better the sales of their last album in North America.”
Grammy-nominated CRADLE OF FILTH have been pioneers of extreme music since their 1994 debut and have continued to evolve with each of their subsequent releases. The band have continually refused to bow to convention or conform to prevalent trends and fads and have constantly sought to push the boundaries of their art.
Whether through their wildly elaborate & theatrical live shows (which incorporate giant lumbering puppets, fire-breathing dancers, freaks and stilt-walkers), provocative merchandise (including the now legendary ‘Jesus Is A C***’ t-shirt), breathtaking artwork, or the weighty subject matter of their albums (their latest told the story of a French Lord who fought alongside Joan Of Arc before embarking on a horrific killing spree), this is a band whose uncompromising stance has been rewarded with legions of fans around the world, making them the most successful British heavy metal band since Iron Maiden.
This month, vocalist Dani Filth, guitarists Paul Allender and James McIlroy, bassist David Pybus, drummer Martin Skaroupka and keyboard player Ashley Ellyllon enter Monkey Puzzle Studios near Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, England to begin work on the follow-up to 2008’s Godspeed On The Devil’s Thunder. Loyal stalwarts to the satanic horror ethos, CRADLE OF FILTH will compose another concept album, this time based on Adam’s first wife, the lascivious demoness Lilith. Throwing medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology, lashings of sex, occult lore, and violent bloodshed together into a creative milieu, the band are poised to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal.
For the first time ever, IMMOLATION’s “Unholy Cult” is be available on picture disc vinyl this 17th July! The double-sided picture disc features the classic tracklisting and is a worldwide release limited to 500 pieces only with an exclusive cover art! A must-have for any death metal fan!
“Unholy Cult” is truly a masterpiece. Once again IMMOLATION has reinvented itself to create a darker, heavier and even more menacing atmosphere, with intensity and feeling like no other! From militant and twisted rhythmic marches to all-out monstrous assaults, this album will sink into your very foundation! The emotion and passion are strong in the lyrics and the vocal delivery, as they thunder massively through the heavens! The dueling guitars create pure misery like haunting winds through endless caverns, churning in and out of themselves, only to intensify, cutting at every edge of your soul, then heavier crushing down like a gigantic hammer! The lead work is a horrific melody. From soothing you into paranoia, to attacking you like lightning! And the drums are pure controlled chaos, with the energy of an atomic bomb, the precision of a marksman, and the human touch that holds it all together. IMMOLATION manages to create an unforgettable journey of dark orchestration as only they can.
“Unholy Cult” is like no album you have heard before. It will take you far and beyond what you can imagine in this music, reaching a new level in Death/Black metal. Once again IMMOLATION have set the standard, constantly progressing their unique style and toppling all boundaries in the process. “

Virginian crossover kings MUNICIPAL WASTE are gearing up for a European tour, which kicks off on July 24th in Brussels, Belgium, and will see the band play a mixture of festivals and club shows across Europe.
MUNICIPAL WASTE frontman TONY FORESTA comments:
“As of right now The Waste is cutting back on touring as much as we normally do for this summer, but when we were offered to play both Fluff Fest and Sonisphere we couldn’t pass on this opportunity. There’s a lot of great cities we’re hitting up on this short run as well. Can’t wait!
“I’m really pumped about Sonisphere because it’s going to be my first time seeing Iron Maiden! I’ve been waiting for this moment since I was a kid. From what I’m told, we get to play the party tent right after they play. It’s going to be so much fun!”
