German heavy metal legends HELLOWEEN are set to release their 13th studio album, 7 Sinners, on November 9th in North America via The End Records.
If there is a golden thread throughout the more than 25 years of Helloween’s history, 13 studio albums, countless headliner tours around the globe and more than 5 million records sold, then it is their special kind of attitude: don’t take yourself too seriously and simply live statements like: “just have fun with the shit you’re doing.” Maybe it is exactly this easiness that allows Helloween to be one of the most constant bands of the genre while simultaneously being the one band who dares to experiment more than their musical peers. While some copycats would rather stick with the same old patterns, Andi Deris, Michael Weikath, Sascha Gerstner, Markus Großkopf and Dani Löble aren’t afraid of taking risks – and are rightfully rewarded with success.
7 Sinners is definitively one of the fastest and hardest albums in the Helloween’s history and it bursts with vitality. That might partly be due to the versatility of the various songwriters within the band, who over time have become so homogenous, that the 13 songs formed a unity on their own in the studio , but it may also be due to the fact that the album was recorded completely without a click track, which, considering the extreme speed of the songs is an impressive feat. Especially drummer Löble, who proves that his technique is at a world-class-level. Following his excellent inner clock, bass and drums drive tracks like ‘Are You Metal?’, ‘Long Live The King’ and ‘Who Is Mr. Madman?’ to dizzying tempos. 7 Sinners with its typically strong melodies and the tangible joy of playing, is a true metal album whose range reaches astonishing dimensions.
It has become a cliche for metal band’s to tout their newest opus as their “fastest” or “heaviest” album ever made, but in Helloween’s case, 7 Sinners is truly a return to form and is indeed their fastest and heaviest release in years. Helloween bass player Markus Grosskopf stated about the band’s new material: “For all those out there who found our special best-of [CD] Unarmed to be too smooth and calm, I have great news: The new album will hit you right in the face! It’s gonna be very heavy and contain all [the classic] Helloween trademarks! Some songs are very powerful and hymnic, others contain the fastest bass-drum patterns our drummer Dani [Löble] ever played, and this means a lot!” 7 Sinners track-listing:
Disbelief is known for being one of the most significant members of the German metal scene. Their bold combination of death metal, thrash, hardcore and psychedelic sounds brought them a faithful fan base and proved that there’s still room for innovators in heavy music. And now Metal Mind Productions presents the exclusive reissues of two of the most prominent works by Disbelief – “Infected” and “66Sick” – which deliver a powerful dose of pure metal annihilation.
The band was formed in 1990 by Karsten “Jagger” Jäger (vocals), Oliver Lenz (guitar) and Markus Gnap (drums). After adding guitarist/bassist Denis Musiol to the fold, the group released their first demo in 1992. The following years brought two more demos and a promo tape, which eventually caught the attention of Grind Syndicate Media. With a new line-up, consisting of Jagger, Lenz and three new members – Tommy Fritsch (guitar), Jochen Trunk (bass) and Kai Bergerin (drums), Disbelief released their debut self-titled album in May 1997. Thanks to brilliant guitar work, intense drumming and Jagger’s harsh and powerful vocals, the LP instantly became a great success and the band grew strong on the international scene, gaining numerous positive reviews from all over the globe. “Infected” (1998), their sophomore offering, brought an even more intense material, with a crisp production courtesy of Andy Classen (ex-guitarist of Holy Moses and producer of albums by such acclaimed artists as Tankard, Graveworm, Krisiun and Belphegor). After their second LP was out, Disbelief went on tour, playing alongside Six Feet Under and Bolt Thrower. Once the touring was done, they moved to and after replacing Fritsch with Jan-Dirk Löffler, began working on a follow-up. “Worst Enemy” was released in April 2001 by Massacre Records, again proving the band’s impressive talent. In the following years Disbelief recorded two more albums – “Shine” (2002) and “Spreading the Rage” (2003) – before signing to Nuclear Blast. The first effect of this collaboration was “66Sick”, released in 2005. The album, produced by the acclaimed Tue Madsens (The Haunted, Born From Pain, Moonspell, Dark Tranquility), was a natural continuation of Disbelief’s dense and claustrophobic style. The bonus tracks for this album are all brilliant cover versions of highly acclaimed acts – Slayer (“Spill the Blood”), Scorpions (“Coast to Coast”), Accept (“Dogs on Leads”) and Iron Maiden (“Stranger in a Strange Land”). After “66Sick” Disbelief moved back to Massacre Records, where they released three more albums – “Navigator” (2007), “Protected Hell” (2009) and “Heal” (2010), celebrating the group’s 20th anniversary.
“Infected” and “66Sick” showcase a different time for the band but the same intensity and power. These exclusive re-releases bring back true classics of heavy music, brutal and uncompromising in every way. Both albums will be available in new digipak editions, each limited to 2000 copies. The material was remastered using tube technology, digitally edited on a golden disc. Re-issue of “66Sick” includes 6 bonus tracks. Metal Mind Productions set up the release date for 11th October in Europe and 7th December in USA (via MVD).

Metalodic is really proud to announce the signing of Instanzia. Power Metal band from CANADA.
Instanzia is a new band from Canada, some fresh metal blood from Montreal, Québec. Formed between 2004 and 2008, they are in the vein of the best European progressive-power metal bands like Secret Sphere, Vision Divine and Pagan’s Mind but with a personal touch and original voice. Along with original lyrics that lie deep in the thoughts of its singer-guitarist, they are ready to conquer the world of music with passion. Recorded between 2008 and 2010, their debut album ”Ghosts” was produced by Alexis Woodbury and Francis Gagné, mastered by Peter In de Betou (Dragonland, Steel Attack, Firewind, Meshuggah and a lot more) and has an artwork painted by none other than Jean-Pascal Fournier (Edguy, Avantasia, Dragonforce and more). It contains mostly fast stuff with melodic riffs and themes, orchestrations and big catchy choruses that sure will please fans of bands like Edguy, Power Quest, Secret Sphere and more! They’ve had the participation of Hibria’s guitarist Diego Kasper who contributed a solo on the last piece of the album, three guest singers singing choirs on every chorus and Mathieu Fiset who helped with keyboard arrangements and also contributed two solos. In the end, ”Ghosts” is a very ambitious debut album!

In an unprecedented move in metal, the band chose to record the album entirely in Istanbul in an attempt to capture the inspiring surroundings. The artwork (attached) to their long awaited 5th album was handled by renowned UK based occult artist John Coulthart, whom the band has previously collaborated with before.
The Epigenesis will be released on October 1st in Europe and on October 26th in North America via Nuclear Blast Records.
CALIFORNIA – San Francisco Bay Area gore legend, Autopsy, has launched a mini-site at: http://www.peaceville.com/autopsy/ in anticipation of their first EP of newly recorded tracks since officially reforming last year, titled, ‘The Tomb Within’. The new mini-site features audio samples of each of the EP’s five gut-wrenching tracks, as well as an in studio video trailer for a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the forthcoming musical bloodbath, to be released on October 5th on Peaceville Records.
‘The Tomb Within’ EP was recorded in mid-July 2010 at Fantasy Studios with Adam Munoz, and unites the original trio of Chris Reifert, Danny Coralles, and Eric Cutler, joined on bass by Joe Trevisano (ex-Abscess). It is the band’s first album of newly recorded tracks in over a decade. Cover art is supplied by renowned fantasy/horror artist Matt Cavotta.

Autopsy decided to make an official comeback after working together on two songs for the special 20th anniversary edition of their debut album, Severed Survival, in late 2008. The band had originally decided to split before the release of their 4th album, Shitfun, in 1995.
Autopsy emerged in 1987, and had an almost immediate impact on the global underground heavy metal scene. Frontman Chris Reifert was already known due to his work as drummer with Florida’s highly respected extreme metal combo, Death, along with Chuck Schuldiner. Autopsy’s debut album, Severed Survival, was unleashed in 1989 on Peaceville Records, and the band went on to become true legends in the death metal scene, recording four studio albums in total, before splitting up in the mid 90’s.
Autopsy issued the following statement about their reformation and the forthcoming EP…
“As many of you know, for years it has been repeatedly stated that Autopsy was over with and done for good. While that was indeed true for a long span of time, it is no longer the case. Autopsy has come to the solid realization that the time is now right to resume their mission of gore soaked death metal brutality and to fulfill this mission with maximum intensity. Make no mistake about it, Autopsy is not about reliving the past, basking in nostalgia or riding on efforts from years long gone. The band is hungry to devour fresh minds and souls and has been amassing an arsenal of new and deathly material to unleash upon those who also hunger for such brutality. The surgical instruments are being sharpened and a pure death metal assault of the most horrific order is underway as you read these very words. On behalf of the band, thanks goes out to all who relented and simply would not allow this beast to remain in the grave. Your persistence will be met with unspeakable and unapologetic sonic atrocities. Let the blood flow….”
The members of Dutch extreme progressive technical metal band TEXTURES are proud to announce the addition of new keyboard and sample-maestro Uri Dijk to their line-up.
According to the band, “This past summer Uri helped out by filling in on keyboards [our] festival appearances. During the rehearsals and live shows, there was a strong personal and musical connection between Uri and the members of TEXTURES, which made [us] decide to ask Uri to join TEXTURES as a full member. Uri gladly accepted, which means TEXTURES is a 6-piece again after a small period being without a keyboard player.”
Uri comments about joining TEXTURES:
“First of all, I am honored to have been asked to join TEXTURES. This is an opportunity that doesn’t come along every day, and let’s be honest, how could I refuse? Getting to know the guys in the past few weeks has shown me that the spirit of TEXTURES is as much alive as ever and that this is just an amazing group of friends who have worked very hard to bring mind-blowing music to the world. I feel privileged to be able to become a part of this and I am happy the band is now complete again. I hope I can bring as much atmosphere and musicality to the band and its music as [former keyboard player] Richard [Rietdijk] did. We are back in business!”
TEXTURES adds the following about Uri joining the band:
“To see Richard leave shortly after the departure of [lead singer] Eric [Kalsbeek], was quite a blow for us. Richard was a part of the band from the beginning, so it would feel pretty weird to fit a new person in that role. But after Uri joined us to help us out for the live shows, it felt really good to have a well-skilled person on keys again. It was such a good experience with Uri that we couldn’t see ourselves moving on without him. Uri is more than a well-skilled synth-maestro and besides, he’s an amazing guy to be around. We are very glad that Uri accepted the position and we are working very hard to write new material. We are working on taking it to the next level, so be ready!!”
The band’s follow-up to 2008’s Silhouettes is due out in 2011.
In the second of nine installments, bassist/vocalist Grutle Kjellson and rhythm guitarist/songwriter Ivar Bjørnson of the progressive/psychedelic Norwegian black metal band ENSLAVED offer commentary on the songs that will appear on the band’s new album Axioma Ethica Odini, which is scheduled for release in Europe on September 27th and in North America on September 28th.
Grutle on “Raidho”:
“A signature Ivar-song. Full of cool riffs, both straight forward and a little bit weird, too! A bit complex, still a very enjoyable song to arrange vocals on. This was the first song me and Herbrand [Larsen, keyboard player and clean vocalist] did the vocal arrangements for on Axioma Ethica Odini and one of the first we recorded (I remember ‘Giants’ being the very first). This song turned out to be one of the most brutal songs on the album, and probably the one containing the most harsh vocals. Love this one, and am really looking forward to playing it live.”
Ivar on “Raidho”:
“’Raidho’ is a song where the song title and the song itself are very closely linked. The title itself is the name of a rune that translated to travel, vehicle and so on. My ambition was to make a song that would convey the feeling of travel; try to depict a ‘moving wheel’ through riffing. It turned out that quite a lot of ENSLAVED’s music had this feeling. If that is a coincidence or not sounds too much like quack-speculation, but I do come from a family of travelers, sailors, and even whalers (‘ey, don’t go Greenpeace on me now!). Perhaps this ‘nomadic’ feeling is our connection to Motörhead… one of Metal’s hardest touring bands? Anyways, when I separated the rhythmic guitar voice (there’s one ‘straight-ahead-guitar’ with the chords, and one ‘drone’ with a rhythmic pattern) and had the drums follow that, I discovered we had what I would almost call a Motörhead-part – which turned out to be the middle-section. I am not a fan of ‘explaining’ lyrics as it limits the reader’s potential for exploration and self-reflection. This one, however, is quite easy to decipher on the surface at least – then again, there are so many ways to travel…”

THE BOY WILL DROWN drummer ED discusses the band’s recent activities and the upcoming tour:
“Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel the start of our tour due to lack of money. Our earnings were drastically cut and we couldn’t afford to do it, what with the renting of a van etc. So our tour is kicking off with Wreck Of The Minotaur in London on September 30th!
“Liam has been, and still is, on holiday at the moment, so the rest of us have been practising at home and trying to get ourselves ready for our longest tour to date. I think we’re all gonna be spending some of our earnings on new/more equipment. I know I’m looking forward to playing on NON-BROKEN cymbals!
“A week going up and down the country with The Bridal Procession should be ace, we’re all really looking forward to playing with those guys and Heights. Galleons are on a few of the shows as well, and we’ve got some more tours lined up with them for next year already. I’ve been chatting to a few of them and they seem safe boys. Heavy drinkers and smokers by all accounts, so I suppose we’ll have to be out partying every night… Oh it’s a hard life ain’t it, haha.
“After that, it’s back over to Europe again which we always enjoy so much! We’re spending three days in Italy so we’re hoping to get some sight-seeing in too. Soak up the culture. I think we have one or two days rest after Europe and then it’s back on the road with Eradication for a week. It’s gonna be hard, but we always end up loving every minute of it… Apart from the van getting gased out with farts, haha!”
