MANOWAR fans from all over the world were given a special holiday hour of power when all four members of their favorite band were online for an impromptu chat with their fans on Facebook.
“It was a spontaneous idea. The response to ‘Battle Hymns 2011’ has been massive! We received it almost in real time via Facebook, literally moments after the fans downloaded the album at its first day of release from The Kingdom Of Steel. So we wanted to thank them immediately”, said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio.
From touring requests to discussions about beer, bikes, girls and guitars to comments on the new album ‘Battle Hymns 2011’; the topics were diverse and both fans and band had a great time.
“We had a blast!” said vocalist Eric Adams after the session ended. “Nothing can compare to meeting the fans face to face – but the direct interaction on the internet comes as close as it gets. We’ll definitely do this again!”

British thrashers EVILE recently announced a headlining UK tour, which kicks off in February 2011.
If you’ve ever dreamed of playing a show with such an awesome band, now is your chance! EVILE, in conjunction with Metal Hammer and MySpace, are offering you and your band the chance to support the nation’s finest thrash heroes at one of their upcoming UK shows.
To be in with a chance of winning this incredible opportunity, simply submit your band’s MySpace URL to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Evile Live”, followed by the city in which you’d like to support EVILE. All entries must be received by December 31st.
EVILE themselves will choose the best three bands for each city and the readers of Metal Hammer online will then vote to decide which band gets to support EVILE at each show.
EVILE frontman MATT DRAKE comments:
“Today we are about to experience Thanksgiving in America on one of our rare days off on tour and we are looking ahead to getting home and having a relaxing Christmas with the people we are closest to, but we don’t want to forget about the other people who are important to us, our UK fans, so we have decided to try a different way of finding some support bands for our upcoming UK mini tour.
“Bands can send us their MySpace links and we will be going through them all to choose the bands we like that will open the shows in February. Knowing our luck this will somehow backfire in a hideous way but it will be fun to try! We are looking forward to listening to all the bands and getting some good UK metal on the shows with us.
“Happy Thanksgiving from America and we will see you in February!”
The full dates for EVILE’s UK tour are as follows:
09 February 2011 – Manchester, UK – Academy 3
10 February 2011 – Newcastle, UK – Academy
11 February 2011 – Glasgow, UK – Cathouse

The Metal Den has obtained a rare Randy Rhoads guitar solo that was part of the OZZY show that was recorded live in Cleveland, Ohio on May 11, 1981. However, unlike the majority of songs from that night that were ultimately used for OZZY OSBOURNE’s Tribute album released in 1987, Rhoads’ legendary guitar solo spot in “Suicide Solution” featured on the classic live record is actually taken from another show that took place in Montreal, Quebec on July 28, 1981.

It’s been quite an eventful year for High On Fire’s guitarist/vocalist/frontman Matt Pike. This past February the Oakland, California trio unleashed their highly acclaimed fifth full length album "Snakes For The Devine", their first effort for E1 Music, having parted ways with longtime record label Relapse Records on good terms. Earlier this year, Matt Pike played a string of dates with his old band Sleep much to the delight of stoner/doom metal everywhere, many who may have been too young to ever witness the band live in their heyday. Metal-Rules.com caught up with Matt prior to High On Fire’s earth shaking performance at this year’s "Fun Fun Fun Fest" in Austin, Texas and he brought us up to speed on all of the latest happenings in the HOF camp…

THE WRETCHED END — the blackthrash trio featuringex-Emperor/ex-Zyklon guitarist Samoth, Mindgrinder/ex-Scum guitarist Cosmo and ex-Dark Funeral/ex-Aeon drummer Nils Fjellström — recently unleashed their debut full-length, Ominous, via Candlelight Records. In honor of its release, you can check out “The Armageddonist,” the third track off the debilitating outing, courtesy of Decibel Magazine HERE.
THE WRETCHED END formed in 2008 as a creative collaboration between Samoth and Cosmo, who previously worked together in deathpunk project Scum. In addition, Cosmo played bass with Zyklon when the band toured Europe 2001 with Morbid Angel. The two have long spoken about an extreme metal project and thus, THE WRETCHED END was born.
A new official trailer for “Lemmy”, the long-awaited documentary examining the life and career of MOTÖRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister, can be viewed below.
“Lemmy” received its U.K. premiere at the London Film Festival on October 23. In addition, “Lemmy” directors/producers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski took part in the panel discussion “I’m With The Band” on October 24 in the Delegate Centre at BFI South Bank. Video footage of the question-and-answer session can be viewed below.
“Lemmy” will be released on DVD by Entertainment One on January 24, 2011. The film premiered in the U.S. in March 2010 during the South by Southwest at the historic Paramount Theatre in Austin.
Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski spent three years following Kilmister around the globe — from his Hollywood home to the hockey arenas of Russia.
“Lemmy” features appearances by such high-profile Kilmister friends/peers as METALLICA, Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Billy Bob Thornton and pro wrestler Triple H.
Hailed as a godfather of heavy metal, 64-year-old Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister has established himself as the living embodiment of rock and roll over the past four decades. After stints with popular Mersey beat band THE ROCKIN’ VICKERS and influential psychedelic rockers HAWKWIND, and even a brief time spent as a member of Jimi Hendrix‘s road crew, Lemmy formed MOTÖRHEAD in 1975.
Going on to record such influential metal classics as “Overkill”, “Ace of Spades” and “Bomber”, the Grammy Award-winning MOTÖRHEAD and Kilmister‘s fusion of punk and metal registered a major influence on such bands as METALLICA, GUNS N’ ROSES and NIRVANA.
2010 marks the 35th anniversary of the birth of MOTÖRHEAD, which features Kilmister, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee.

The 14th annual Tuska Festival will be held at the new location of Suvilahti, Helsinki, during July 22.-24. The reason for this change of dates is that a certain international festival will most likely be organizing their Finnish festival in Helsinki on the very same weekend Tuska had announced as their 2011 festival dates.

(New York, NY) — eOne Music has signed a world wide deal with NY rock band BRONX CASKET CO. “I am totally psyched to be working with eOne for the new Bronx Casket release! They did an amazing job with the Overkill record and I know they will do the same for this. Having a label home where people “get” it and are psyched to work a record is a great feeling, ” says front man DD Verni.
The band originally formed in 1998 by Overkill co-founder and bassist DD Verni. Having played in one of the most respected thrash bands ever for over 2 decades, why have another band. Two reason states DD, “the challenge of writing interesting new material and for fun of course!”
The bands second release caught the ear of playwright Andrea Lepcio. Soon after, Verni and Lepcio were collaborating with 3-time Tony Winner Hinton Battle to direct and choreograph. Soon the seeds of The “Bronx Casket Co, A New Musical” were planted. Verni quickly recruited several members from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra to perform. The cast consisted of performers from the Broadway shows Hairspray, Rent and Dance of the Vampire. There have been several performances off-Broadway for producers/backers and the show is still in the writing stages. It has a gothic/Broadway score with a twisted love story woven throughout. Songs from the first two Bronx Casket Co. releases are included in the show, as well as 13 new songs D.D. Verni penned just for the musical.
It’s been five years since BRONX CASKET CO last released an album and has been well worth the wait. Verni concludes, “This Bronx Casket record is the best we have done, and we are looking forward to getting out on the road and doing some shows.” As with every Bronx Casket Co release Verni has charted new territory, and stretched his writing boundaries.
