Ibex Moon Records regretfully announces that the last four dates of the Campaign For Death Metal Purity Tour, featuring Gravehill, Cardiac Arrest and Hod, will not go on as planned. On behalf of Ibex Moon Records and the bands on the tour we would like to thank everyone who came out in support of true death metal. Though Hod dropped off the bill after the July 7th date in Austin, TX, other factors led to Gravehill and Cardiac Arrest canceling the final dates. Cardiac Arrest drummer, Jim “Grindhead” Deabenderfer issued the following statement. “We in Cardiac Arrest and Gravehill are disappointed to be in this position. Canceling shows is not something either of our camps are accustomed to. We are forced to drop these dates for purely logistic reasons, not financial. This should not reflect on any of the promoters for the dates in question – our plans simply had to change with the situation. Both Cardiac Arrest and Gravehill are committed to make up these four dates as soon as possible.”
The affected dates are as follows:
July 15th @ Buccaneer’s – Memphis, TN
July 16th @ Downtown Music – Little Rock, AR
July 17th @ Walters – Houston, TX
July 18th @ Ten Eleven – San Antonio, TX
The Campaign For Death Metal Purity Tour will conclude tonight in Indianapolis, IN at The Melody Inn with Gravehill and Cardiac Arrest playing alongside Abyss Records acts Maax and Christ Beheaded.

Agonia Records proudly announce signing of Italian Depressive Black/Doom Metal masters FORGOTTEM TOMB.
At the end of this summer, they will record the long-anticipated new full-length album Under Saturn Retrograde, a title which reflects the subtle, pessimistic self-irony of the band. If you still think Italy is all mandolin, sun and pizza, it means you haven’t heard of FORGOTTEN TOMB yet… You might find out an unpleasant world made of suburban misery, nihilism and utter negativity. You might find out why the band labelled its sound as Southern European Black Discomfort !
IN THIS MOMENT’s New Album In Stores Now, Check In From The Mayhem Festival and
Post New Video Message Online
After months of anticipation, the highly acclaimed new full-length IN THIS MOMENT album, A Star-Crossed Wasteland, is now available in stores everywhere. The band kicked off their massive worldwide touring cycle for the new album by taking part in this summer’s Rockstar Mayhem Fest, which started this past weekend. Check out a new video message from Maria Brink (vocals) now at the link below. http://bit.ly/c1bcMM
Also, the official video for the new track “The Gun Show” can be viewed now at the link below. http://bit.ly/d8bseP
The new IN THIS MOMENT disc will be exclusively available at the Century Media/Metal Army booth and this is the only place that the group will be doing any signings on the Mayhem Festival tour, so be sure to come say hello and get your disc signed. These signings are always 30 mins after their set, so don’t miss out on this special opportunity.
Chris Howorth (guitars) checks in with the following Mayhem Fest report: “After only two days of Mayhem Fest performances I can confidently say this is the most fun we have ever had on a tour. The crowds are massive and so pumped up for music. The first show in San Bernardino was a hell of a kickoff and there had to be over 10,000 people going ape shit. There were people waving t- shirts that were on fire and some guy was shooting off fireworks in the middle of our mosh pit. It was pure Mayhem indeed. The second show in Mountain View was just as crazy. We were the headliner of the second stage and although we were a bit nervous at first we couldn’t believe how many people stayed to watch us headline and to keep it interesting Maria jumped into the crowd and incited a huge circle pit around the front of house tent. It was certainly a sight to behold.
“We are beyond excited for the rest of the tour. We are doing exclusive signings every day at the Century Media/Metal Army booth and we can’t wait to meet everyone. Mayhem Fest kicks so much ass it’s hard to put it into words, so just come out and let all these bands kick your ass. On a side note our bus buddies Norma Jean turned out to be an outstanding group of guys and we are having a blast hanging out with them every day. Our new CD comes out today and we are really excited for everyone to hear our new stuff. Rock on!”
Just to further wet fans’ voracious appetites for this new material even more, the band has posted the new track, “Just Drive,” on their MySpace and Facebook page, so click on the links below now to check it out.
Florida’s INFERNAEON have announced “Genesis To Nemesis” as the title of their new album, which is slated for an August 31st street date via Prosthetic Records. The album was recorded at Erik Rutan’s Mana Recording (Goatwhore, Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal) Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Brian Elliott. “Genesis To Nemesis,” picks up where 2007’s “A Symphony of Suffering,” (which Metal Hammer described as, “brave, unflinchingly inventive and jackhammer-heavy from beginning to end,”) left off, with a devastating mix of Flordian death metal and symphonic, sinister European black metal. “Genesis To Nemesis,” is the first recording with new guitarists Taylor Nordberg and Steven Harger, as well as bassist Mike Poggione
INFERNAEON’s founder and vocalist, Brian Werner commented; “Every bad thing possible was thrown at us and we had to eat some serious shit on a silver spoon and smile about it afterwards to get this done. We actually wrote almost an entire other album that we threw out and started from scratch after we trimmed the fat over a year ago, but it couldn’t be a better situation now. Steven and Taylor did a fucking amazing job creating a sonic ‘image’ which complimented the entire album concept perfectly. The album itself is the entire story of the bible from beginning to end, however, it’s told historically accurately instead of the brain dead point of view the bible tries to portray. All in all, recording at Mana was an amazing experience as always; Brian and Erik are killer motherfuckers and always are intense to work with and always put forth 100% every time. Mix all the elements together with some Crowley-esque Thelema thrown in and I’m very proud to say that it turned out better then we could have expected!”
INFERNAEON will be hitting the road this fall for an extensive US tour, and have previously shared the stage with the likes of Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Atheist, Deeds of Flesh, Vile, and Impaled.

Founding figures in the birth and construction of the black metal genre and important figures in the Norwegian scene that later became the topic of mainstream press and film documentaries, IMMORTAL remain one of thee most revered and esteemed black metal bands in all the world. Many remember the shock in 2003 when – thirteen years into their existence and one year after the band was nominated for an Alarm award for Sons Of Northern Darkness – IMMORTAL suddenly announced they would disband.
It was four years into their abrupt retirement when the men in black reconnected with their creative force and announced to their worldwide fan base that IMMORTAL would reunite and return to the stage. Luckily, every moment of IMMORTAL’s headlining reunion show at the prestigious Wacken Open Air festival in Germany in 2007 was captured for all future generations of black metal fans to enjoy.
IMMORTAL manager Håkon Grav had this to say about the long-awaited DVD:
“This release has been due many years, but finally we can present IMMORTAL’s first concert DVD. The band paid their dues with hard roadwork during the first decade and then some during their career, but they were hardly given the tools and surroundings worthy of a full-blown video production like this demands. The mighty Wacken Open Air proved to be the perfect partner for us in that sense, and this was truly a special night for both the band and the fans. The band played several great shows on the reunion tour, but the fact that headlining the Black Stage at Wacken would be something spectacular was a given in advance, and now the DVD is here to prove it again. It has taken some time, but good things rarely come easily or quickly. If you were present at the show, I think you will appreciate the possibility to relive the magic, and if you´re witnessing the show for the first time within your own four walls, I hope you enjoy it just as much! For those of you coming to Wacken again this year – what can I say but ‘Auf Wiedersehen!’”
The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh, the band’s first official live DVD & live CD release in the history of their existence, features songs that span IMMORTAL’s timeless discography and includes three back-to-back-to-back selections from their most acclaimed release to date. The leather & spikes, the “war paint,” the bursting pyrotechnics, the essential anthems, Abbath’s on-stage acrobatics, and an audience that drew upwards of 70,000 people… the magic’s all there, ready to be absorbed into your consciousness.
Take a walk through the mystical Norwegian landscape and witness Abbath, Horgh, and Apollyon as they return to the fabled & mythical kingdom of Blashyrkh, where they are destined to rule for all eternity.
The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh will be released in Europe on August 6th and in North America on September 14th. The track listing for both the DVD and the CD is:
02. The Sun No Longer Rises (from Pure Holocaust)
03. Withstand The Fall Of Time (from At The Heart Of Winter)
04. Sons Of Northern Darkness (from Sons Of Northern Darkness)
05. Tyrants (from Sons Of Northern Darkness)
06. One By One (from Sons Of Northern Darkness)
07. Wrath From Above (from Damned In Black)
08. Unholy Forces Of Evil (from Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism)
09. Unsilent Storms In The North Abyss (from Pure Holocaust)
10. At The Heart Of Winter (from At The Heart Of Winter)
11. Battles In The North (from Battles In The North)
12. Blashyrk (Mighty Ravendark) (from Battles In The North)

Melodic metal favourites LORD have unveiled their latest touring venture, taking them across Australia once again, including trips to the far north, as well as making their way back to Japan for the second year in a row. The band have also announced their latest EP release ‘Return of the Tyrant’ which will be released in the coming months.
Commented LORD main man LT, “We’re finally able to announce the tour dates for the rest of the year. This was a logistical nightmare with so many other high-profile acts touring Australia right now, meant that some places we wanted to get to just weren’t realistic this time around. This tour will also include our run of shows in Japan with DORO and Jaded Heart, which we’re extremely excited about”
“The other great news is we have a new LORD release out soon; an EP entitled ‘Return of the Tyrant’. Anyone who has followed our history knows about Dungeon, the band that spawned LORD after it dissolved in 2005. Dungeon had a popular song called ‘Tarranno Del Mar’ – a fun pirate themed song that LORD still enjoys playing to this day. We felt it was time to revisit the story and write the next part in the saga. The song ‘Return Of The Tyrant’ is full of piratey singalongs and is nearly ten minutes long, so it’s quite an epic! Apart from that, we have some cool cover songs and a whole bunch of cool interpretations of LORD and Dungeon songs, so there’s quite a lot of material for an EP. We’ll be revealing the full track list and cover art really soon.”

LORD was formed from the ashes of DUNGEON who disbanded in 2005 after world tours with the likes of MEGADETH, NIGHTWISH, EDGUY and more, and has since gone on to tour with bands such as QUEENSRYCHE, SAXON, GAMMA RAY, NEVERMORE and released three well-received albums. The band recently released a tongue-in-cheek cover of KYLIE MINOGUE’s “On A Night Like This”, which become an instant success, and must see for many.
Monolit and Symfomania present their new CDs in Kyiv
(Kiev or Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine for those geographically challenged)
Review and photos by by Orchidee Stachelig
Perhaps all fans of the band Monolit were aware that the guys were about to release their debut album. Finally it happened on the 16th of June at a presentation which took place at a Bingo club. There has been a massive advertising campaign all around Kyiv and in other cities that the band is known in, and it was surprising (and pleasant, of course) for me to see the ads at all underground stations – I was proud to know the guys in the picture.
The presentation was a double concert – the female band Symfomania plays symphonic metal was also presenting a CD. It was their second recording named “Aria”. It consists of cover-versions of hits of a famous Russian rock/metal band Aria. By the day of the presentation, the CD had not been released yet.
ICED EARTH mastermind, Jon Schaffer, has developed a new project, SONS OF LIBERTY, with the purpose of spreading awareness about the current state of affairs worldwide. Schaffer’s goal for this project is not to sell records, t-shirts or tickets, but rather wake people up and to get them to start researching and talking with each other. The album hits stores today and features a lengthy and very detailed booklet with stellar content. The brand new website www.sons-of-liberty.net is now active, so be sure to head over now to find out what this message is all about.
Schaffer further states: “I’m proud to finally see the physical release of Brush-Fires of The Mind happen. This is all about the message, so please spread the word!”
Check out the new video at the link below where Schaffer discusses the concept behind the song “Jekyll Island”, and the book it’s based on – a core principle to the topics covered in the band’s lyrical content. Also, catch a special interview with Schaffer and G. Edward Griffin (author of The Creature From Jekyll Island). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WAyUdgOEOA
Schaffer handles all vocals and instrumentation for SONS OF LIBERTY, but the effort also features guest solos by legendary producer Jim Morris, ICED EARTH guitarist Troy Seele and world-class bassist, Ruben Drake. Born from Schaffer’s desire to stimulate curiosity about a pattern of global banking corruption that is undermining the independence of people and their countries, SONS OF LIBERTY aims to spearhead a multi-faceted and peaceful resistance of the tyranny being wrought every day on regular people
ICED EARTH has confirmed four special North American shows this fall. Meant as an “Escape From The Studio,” these exclusive dates will also get fans the chance to experience SONS OF LIBERTY on stage for their first-ever live performances.
VIP packages via www.icedearth.com are still available on a very limited basis. Regular tickets sales via Ticketmaster and all other outlets have begun and will be subject to local service fees.

Metal-Rules.com recently interviewed Jon and here is what he had to say about the upcoming live dates:
Metal-Rules.com: I know you are doing 4 live dates in September with Iced Earth and Sons of Liberty on the same bill. I can imagine a full tour where you had to play in both bands might be a bit tiring, but do you think it might happen or maybe Sons of Liberty might go out on their own tour?
Jon: Well if Sons of Liberty grows to the point where we can sell some tickets, then yeah I can see that happening. I can see something happening with Iced Earth, it would be very tiring for me but we may do that. The problem is, here’s the situation – I would love to get Sons of Liberty out on the road to do something like on a cool tour to do an opening so the message can get out to more people. But the problem is, even though I am the founder of Iced Earth, that doesn’t mean that Sons of Liberty automatically translates into ticket sales or into album sales. It’s a brand new thing; it’s like a baby band starting off with maybe a little bit more of a kick because I’m involved in it. But to go out on the road as a support band, if a bigger band comes along and understood we were a baby band and offered say $500 a show…well you know it’s $1000 a day for a tour bus and you’ve got all these other costs. I can’t do that and go into a proverbial black hole of debt. It’s got to be the right situation. Maybe that is sucking it up and doing it with Iced Earth because if some of the guys in Iced Earth play live with Sons of Liberty which is what we are going to do now at least. At least for now the costs are already there because Iced Earth is on tour and the guys in the band are into it. They like it, and they like the message. So I would love to do it. We have some financial challenges facing us with that and that will probably be the biggest obstacle. Metal-Rules.com: I was going to ask you, for the shows in September 2010, who will be playing with you exactly?
Yeah it’s going to be Brent Smedley (drums), Freddie Vidales (bass), and Troy Seele (guitars). Then a guitarist named Matt O’Rourke from Vegas will be playing my parts because I’m just gonna do vocals, I’m not going to play guitar and sing. I don’t want to be trapped behind a mic stand and not be able to walk around in between the songs and talk to the people.
Metal-Rules.com: Do you think that will feel kind of strange to not have your little shield in front of you when performing live?
Jon: Absolutely dude! I’m a little nervous about it; I have to admit, because I’m not a singer. But I feel like I have to do it and especially September 10th is the night before the gigantic march on Washington D.C. And that’s the reason why we are doing that as the first show. So it’s a while different world for me.
July 13, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA based hardcore/thrash metal purveyors OBSCENE GESTURE featuring members of BODY COUNT, STRUNG OUT, and AGENT STEEL of have posted 3 new songs on their new official MySpace. ‘Bad Idea’, ‘I’m Sick’ and ‘Question’ come off the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Forever Obscene.’
First bursting onto the scene with 2006’s ‘Living In Profanity’ and touted as a “a ‘lovely’ stick of dynamite up conservative America’s ass!” by Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles magazine, OBSCENE GESTURE are a highly volatile combination of East Coast hardcore and West Coast thrash. “We’ve all grown up on stuff like Slayer, Agnostic Front, Exodus, Suicidal Tendencies, Crumsuckers, and Dark Angel,”, reflects frontman Guy Green. “And the way S.O.D. brought hardcore and metal together on ‘Speak English Or Die’ was very inspirational to us collectively so all that comes out in our music. This new record is probably a little bit more hardcore leaning compared to our debut – pure, unadulterated Obscene Gesture doing what we do best. We’re currently looking for a new label so hopefully we can get the album out before the end of the year.”
‘Forever Obscene’ was recorded with the help of Roy Z (HALFORD, DOWNSET), John Ewing (SLAYER, KORN), and Horacio Colmenares and mixed by guitarist/co-vocalist Vincent Dennis at In-Sinc Studios in Los Angeles, CA. OBSCENE GESTURE was originally conceived by vocalist Guy Green and original drummer Chuck Profus (AGENT STEEL), with bassist George Robb (AGENT STEEL, LSN, DETENTE), and guitarists Vincent Dennis (BODY COUNT, STEEL PROPHET) and Juan Garcia (AGENT STEEL, EVIL DEAD) joining the fold for ‘Living In Profanity.’ The band’s current line-up features Green, Dennis, Garcia along with new arrivals Chris Aiken (STRUNG OUT) on bass and Keith Stanley on drums, respectively.

New York, NY:Roadrunner Records are delighted to announce the signing of boisterous Welsh metal quartet REVOKER. Hailing from the depths of Wales’ Rhymney Valley, the band will soon start work on their debut album with Skindred’s Benji Webbe for an early 2011 release.
For a vote of confidence in the band’s bright future, look no further than Monte Conner, Roadrunner’s Senior VP A&R. Conner enthuses, “Revoker are one of the most ass-kicking unsigned bands I have heard in a long time and I am beyond proud to welcome them to the Roadrunner family. Believe it or not, in my entire career at Roadrunner, they are the first UK band I have signed.”
Although Revoker officially formed in Spring 2006, frontman/guitarist Jamie Mathias and guitarist Chris Green have been playing in bands together since they became teenagers. The band’s engaging 19-year old mouthpiece Mathias comments, “Getting signed to Roadrunner is amazing and almost surreal. I’ve grown up listening to bands like Megadeth, Slipknot and Machine Head. So to be a part of the same label as them is nuts! I think Roadrunner is the perfect home for Revoker!”
Green echoes his thoughts: “It’s mind-blowing! If I could have picked any label then this would be it. I think this is the perfect label for us to be joining with. It’s amazing to be part of such a mammoth roster with bands we’ve looked up to for years ourselves.”
“If there’s one label any metal band dream of signing to, it’s Roadrunner!” said bassist Shane Phillips . The group is rounded out by Jack Pritchard on the drums.
With the UK’s Hammerfest and Download Festival already under their belt, not to mention praise-inducing support slots with Skindred and Soulfly, expect to see a lot more of these formidable youngsters as they take on the world!
Says Skindred’s Benji, “It was not just the music that drew me to Revoker – although they blew me away – it was their attitude of ‘we got it and we’re going to give it to you like it or not.’ From watching them live for the very first time and then going on to help them sculpt their songs, I knew it would only take a push in the right direction to make them explode from their sleepy Welsh hamlet onto the worldwide metal stage – and now with the help of Roadrunner they’re about to do just that.”
Revoker are managed by Blood Company/Good Fight Entertainment (Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Chiodos, Children Of Bodom, Every Time I Die) and booked by ITB.
Sweden’s genre-defying THERION have issued the following statement:
“We are sad to confirm that Snowy Shaw has suddenly decided to not do any of the upcoming shows with THERION. This decision took us by surprise, because, up to now, we have had a great collaboration. The reason is simply that he has been working on an album with another big band (as a bass player – that came as a surprise too!), who have now offered him a deal he felt he could not refuse. We don’t think this is a good decision, but accept the situation and wish him good luck.
“We realize many will miss Snowy, who did a great job during the more theatrical direction THERION took during the Gothic Kabbalah era (as well as on the coming album, Sitra Ahra). Like all the other close guest collaborators in the history of the band (Mats Levén, Andy “the bald guy” Engberg, Karin Fjellander, Sara Jezebel Deva, Martina Hornbacher, Dan Swanö…), he contributed with something unique and put his mark on the ongoing THERION development. And just like the choice of Mats Levén was questioned in the beginning, (for being too rock ‘n’ roll for THERION) and later became a beloved part of the band’s identity at the time, Snowy also made the journey from being regarded as a somewhat odd choice to becoming a popular character in the THERION show.
“This vacancy, however, gives us an opportunity to yet again take a different direction. We are right now in the process of creating the new production that will be used for the Sitra Ahra World Tour, and we have some thrilling options to choose from. As always, THERION will deliver something unique and challenging that will turn the water of the skeptics into the wine of a classic set-up. Stay tuned!”
THERION recently revealed the artwork to their new album, Sitra Ahra, on their homepage. Mixed by Lennart Östlund (Led Zeppelin, ABBA) at the legendary Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, the new albumwill be released later this year.
The track listing for Sitra Ahra is as follows:
01. Sitra Ahra
02. Kings Of Edom
03. Unguentum Sabbati
04. Land Of Canaan
07. Cu Chulain
08. Kali Yoga III
09. The Shells Are Open
11. After The Inquisition: Children
In May 2009, Johnsson announced that vocalist Thomas Vikström (ex-CANDLEMASS) had official permanent member status. Johnsson recently recruited Christian Vidal (ex-The Road Vultures, ex-Cuero) from Argentina as the band’s new guitarist, who his live debut with THERION on June 4, 2010 in Mexico City. Comprising THERION’s new rhythm section are Johan Koleberg (Animal, Zan Clan, Lion’s Share) on drums and Nalle “Grizzly” Påhlsson (Treat, Zan Clan, Vindictiv) on bass.
