Montreal based extreme metallers KATAKLYSM are pleased to announce, in cooperation with Decibel Magazine and SickDrummerMagazine.com, the North American leg of their “Spread the Venom 2010 – 2011 World Tour“! Joining them will be groove ladden death shredders ALL SHALL PERISH, technical/progressive death masters DECREPIT BIRTH, Sumerian Records‘ touring juggernaut CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE, and Relapse Records‘ modern death metal merchants ABYSMAL DAWN. This will be just a part of a massive worldwide tour, that is rumored to be the bands last before a much needed break from the bands extensive performance schedule. Don’t miss out!
“In just about a month we will embark on KATAKLYSM‘s longest one way headlining stretch crossing four continents in nearly 20 years,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “Heaven’s Venom has been welcomed with open arms by fans and critics alike across the globe. As I mentioned before in interviews, Heaven’s Venom is a very personal, aggressive and dark KATAKLYSM album that hits home. We love this album and want to share its anger with our fans! We want to play places we have never been before and also revisit our loyal supporters while creating some new fans along the way. One thing we know, is that this will be the only time you will be able to see the band on this record or for a long time. So don’t say ‘I’ll catch them the next time’ because there might not be a next time. We are thinking of taking along break after this massive trek and who knows what will happen next. So if you are a fan of KATAKLYSM you have been called to duty!”

Comments singer/guitarist Henri Sattler: “Musically the new album turned out to be one of the most extreme records we ever did. Nevertheless with the very recognizable God Dethroned hooks present in all the songs. Producer Joerg Uken outdid himself this time, because our new album is in my opinion the best produced album we ever had. Extremely raw, heavy, but crystal clear and super dynamic at the same time.”

The forthcoming solo album from PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers is in the very final stages of production. Some very special guests agreed to appear – the list includes guitarists “Metal” Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD), Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY), Sander Gommans (AFTER FOREVER) and Magnus Karlsson (PRIMAL FEAR, ALLEN/LANDE). Powerhouse American vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) is dueting with Scheepers in the track “Remission Of Sin“, Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw (THERION, DREAM EVIL, KING DIAMOND, DIMMU BORGIR) appears on drums and PRIMAL FEAR’s Mat Sinner is playing bass on the entire LP and produced the album. Achim Koehler is currently in the final stages of the mixing session and will shortly be mastering the production.
Scheepers revealed that his upcoming solo album will include a remake of his song “Saints Of Rock” Scheepers originally recorded with his band TYRAN PACE and a cover version of the JUDAS PRIEST classic “Before The Dawn’. “‘Saints Of Rock’ is gonna be, of course, a little bit more modern and updated than it was [when the original version was recorded] in 1986,” he explained. “I mean, right now we have much more possibilities to make songs sound a little bit more modern, starting with the drum sound and the bass sounds.” He added, “I think ‘Before The Dawn’ pretty much is a straight cover, but the first song I’m playing (nearly) all instruments — just a little more orchestral things going on. Vocal-wise, I just added a harmony vocals, plus the two outstanding guitar solos by maestro VICTOR SMOLSKI (RAGE). The album is like a trip through my entire career from hard driven crushing metal, groovy heavy beats, orchestral epic to stripped down basic songs and of course some nice surprises!”
The musical direction of his forthcoming solo CD is more diverse than PRIMAL FEAR, from the hardest to the softest tones. The album was recently presented to the German press and some of the reactions included
“A varied, magic masterpiece! Intensive, passionate and faithful – a terrific singer!” – Markus Wosgien (Rock It!, EMP, Blast!)
“A surprisingly varied and still compact metal-masterpiece, that leaves nothing to be desired!” – Andreas Schöwe (Metal Hammer)
“The vocals and the songwriting are just terrific and you’ve never experienced Ralf Scheepers so relaxed. The album is a hit! Does the world needs a solo album of the Primal Fear singer? Yes, of course!” – Birgit Braeckle (Breakout)
Frontiers plans to release the album in February 2011.

Keel is an American hard rock / metal band originally formed in 1984 in Los Angeles. The band is best known for their rock anthem "The Right to Rock" and their mid 80’s success albums THE RIGHT TO ROCK and FINAL FRONTIER which both were produced by KISS bassist Gene Simmons. Their classic lineup included vocalist Ron Keel, guitarists Marc Ferrari and Bryan Jay, bassist Kenny Chaisson and drummer Dwain Miller and they stayed together until 1988 when Ferrari and Jay decided to leave the group. The band replaced them with keyboardist Scott Warren and guitarist Tony Palmucci and managed to release one more album LARGER THAN LIVE before they slowly disbanded in late 1989. The classic lineup did a brief reunion in 1988 and released a collection of unreleased material under album title BACK IN ACTION but it wasn’t until 2008 before they made a decent return. The new Keel studio album STREETS OF ROCK’N ROLL saw the light of day in early 2010. I had the pleasure to sit down with Ron Keel in Stockholm in September of 2010 and discuss the reunion, the future of Keel, and various other topics including Ron Keel’s other bands and projects: Fair Game, Iron Horse, Saber Tiger, Ron’s country music years and working with Gene in the 80’s and… read on !

Representing Slayer’s entire American Recordings catalogue, “The Vinyl Conflict” begins with 1986’s genre-defining “Reign In Blood,” and goes all the way up to the band’s most recent release, 2009’s “World Painted Blood.” It’s the musical history of Slayer all in one uber-cool box, and on this video clip, King shares a few memories about all ten of the releases.
