The demolition brigade of Goresoerd, having recently released a successful full-length “Tüdruk ja Surm” (“The Maiden and Death”) as well as a split-MCD with Tukkanuotta, have yet another reason to be proud: the ghoulish gentlemen will be performing at the most popular Scandinavian metal festival Tuska taking place in the middle of Helsinki city on July 22–24! The achievement is also noteworthy for the fact that thus far the only Estonian band to have performed there were Metsatöll in 2006.
Tuska Open Air is a household name for every self-respecting metalhead. The first of the events by that name took place already in 1998, and the festival has grown ever grander and mightier since. In 2010, Tuska was headlined by such acts as Megadeath, W.A.S.P., Nevermore, Cannibal Corpse and Satyricon; the festival, attended by altogether 33 000 people, was sold out. This year the festival will for the first time take place at the Suvilahti cultural centre instead of the traditional location at Kaisaniemi park.
In addition to Goresoerd, the list of Tuska’s performers for July 22–24, 2011 presently includes At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Exodus, Meshuggah, Killing Joke, Enslaved, Moonsorrow, Witchery, Agnostic Front, Kvelertak, Spiritual Beggars, Grave, Mygrain, Church Of Misery, Misery Index, Jex Thoth, Cavus, Lighthouse Project, Cause For Effect, Gaf, Feastem a. o.
Nevertheless, Goresoerd will be playing in Finland already before that, as three gigs will take place on the Northern shore of the Gulf of Finland together with Tukkanuotta in the beginning of March.

Los Angeles based EXMORTUS is heading into the studio in February to record their new album Beyond the Fall of Time, which is the long awaited follow up to 2008’s neo classical death metal masterpiece In Hatred’s Flame. To give fans a taste of what to expect EXMORTUS are pleased to preview a demo track called “Destroy” which can be heard via the official HEAVY ARTILLERY Bandcamp page. Here is the link:
As a bonus “Entombed with the Pharaohs”, another demo track from the forthcoming Beyond the Fall of Time that was unveiled this past summer can be heard at the HEAVY ARTILLERY Bandcamp page as well.
Initially making a formidable name for themselves with their relentless gigging in LA metal underground EXMORTUS really started to turn heads with their debut album In Hatred’s Flames. Released during July 2008 on Heavy Artillery Records In Hatreds Flames is an album that was a furious mix of brutality, shredding and melody was undeniably a favorite of critics and fans alike. EXMORTUS immediately hit the road for what would become two years of virtually non-stop touring. During spring 2010, the band was once again faced with a line-up change, this time with the departure of vocalist/second guitarist Balmore. Such a blow might prove a major setback for a lesser band however EXMORTUS immediately rebounded stronger than ever, with lead guitarist Conan taking over vocal duties and new guitarist Sean Redline stepping in to fill the demanding position of second lead shredder. Reinvigorated and refocused with their new line-up, the band hit the studio in May 2010 to lay down two brand new tracks demonstrating the band’s new and even more aggressive approach. In February 2011 EXMORTUS will be entering the studio to begin recording Beyond the Fall of Time with a release date later to be determined.
EXMORTUS are an entity amongst themselves and their music, both complex and thoroughly hook-laden, refuses to lend itself to easy categorization. From the technical death-thrash riffage and surgically precise drumming to their neo-classical, twin virtuoso lead guitar attack, fans of death metal, thrash, prog metal, traditional heavy metal and all true metal sub-genres alike enjoy having their craniums crushed by EXMORTUS.

“Like” ACROSS THE SUN’s Facebook page to hear “Song for the Hopeless”
Portland, Oregon’s Across The Sun recorded their Metal Blade Records debut album, Before The Night Takes Us, with producer Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. The album is the culmination of seven years of recording, touring and polishing their sound. Daniel Castleman held each member to a high standard in the studio; “It was an amazing learning experience; no previous Across The Sun recording process has ever been this in depth”, adds vocalist Brandon Davis. The individual performances are better than any previous Across The Sun release. Guitarist Sam Hafer emphasizes, “This record takes everything that Across The Sun was and expands it; the musicianship, the tonal palette, the dynamics and song structure were all things we pushed into new and challenging territory. The result is the greatest body of music we have produced to date.” Their performance, coupled with Castleman’s stellar mixing/mastering, produced a “big” sounding album. Everything from Davis’ clean vocals, Hafer’s guitar solos, and Murray’s keys have an engrossing and epic breadth.
Fans can now get a taste of the album via facebook.com/acrossthesun. The first single, Song for the Hopeless, is available via “Liking” their page. This first song is exemplary of the rest of the album in that it showcases Across The Sun’s musical peaks and valleys and some of their most heavy and melodic moments. Head HERE to “Like” and listen now!
Before The Night Takes Us will be available on March 15th, 2011 in North America. Pre-orders with t-shirt bundles will be available soon through Metal Blade Records’ brand new IndierMerchStore.com webstore.
