Portugal’s biggest metal band of all time is also ranks among the pioneers of Gothic metal, along the likes of Type O Negative, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Katatonia. Especially Moonspell’s debut album “Wolfheart” (1995) ranks among the classics of the genre with its rough black metal edges around the ominous core. After a number of years and releases of a more experimental, poppier kind, Moonspell returned to their heavy origins on “Under Satanae” (2007) and “Night Eternal” (2008) – to the delight of their fans. Moonspell are currently working on their tenth album, that singer Fernando Ribeira promises will be their darkest, sexiest and heaviest in ages. Excellent timing, with the band’s first SRF-performance coming up.
Confirmed bands so far out of a total of around 70:
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Rhapsody of Fire
Jason & the Scorchers

A New Era of Corruption marks the band’s 3rd full-length album and 2nd for Metal Blade Records. Check out what press has had to say about the band’s latest, and to date greatest, release A New Era of Corruption, which the group co-produced with infamous metal producer Jason Suecof at Jason’s Orlando, FL based Audiohammer Studios.
Extreme metal at its very best, plain and simple, is what the Atlanta based quintet DAATH delivers. The group’s highly acclaimed third full-length, self-titled release is a face-melting masterpiece that was co-produced by the renowned Mark Lewis (Trivium, Devildriver) and Eyal Levi (guitars). The group is now more determined, energized and focused than ever before and expanded upon their unique, uncompromising and dynamic sound. For those previously uninitiated, feel free to head over to www.myspace.com/daath to see what they are all about.
DAATH recently completed a North America run with Chimaira and Impending Doom. This lead them immediately into a lengthy European run with Fear Factory, so be sure to either see below or visit the band’s MySpace page to view their complete touring itinerary.
Click the link below to check out a fan filmed video capturing the impressive Kevin Talley drum solo and the band’s performance of the new track, “Double Tap Suicide.”
Levi states: “DAATH is in Europe for the second time this year. We’ve been so busy making records that we haven’t been able to tour much; but what we’ve done so far counts like a motherfucker: Slayer and Festival dates this summer, Fear Factory/High on Fire tour this winter. The best part for us is that we didn’t just fly over here to start a tour cold. We kicked ass across the Northeast with Chimaira, Impending Doom and This or The Apocalypse this past November. It was some of the best fun we’ve had on any tour ever. On top of the fact that Chimaira is an extremely cool band to tour with, thiswas a very big one for us on multiple levels. As a band we are the most gelled live that we have ever been. We’re tighter than ever and goddamn; Kevin’s drum solo is badass. Whoever saw us on that leg got the chance to see the production we’ve added to the show as well. We’re always adding to it. As if blinding you guys wasn’t enough, let me just say that we’re going beyond just the lights.
“I’m writing to you guys from my Hotel Room in Luxemburg, exhausted. We finished the Chimaira run, drove to the airport, hopped on a plane to Europe and immediately met up with Fear Factory & High on Fire. It was a hell of a lot of traveling and of course with all that comes a lot of bullshit these days. Though as soon as we hopped up on stage and started playing it was all forgotten and the bullshit just melted away. The show was killer, the bands are killer, we’re just stoked to be bringing it to Europe yet again! Look for more updates on some upcoming tour videos we’ll be doing. I hope you are all doing well and I will check back in with you soon.”
Uniting the aggressiveness of classic American death metal with a modern metal twist, unrivaled musicianship and catchiness to equal parts, DAATH are well prepared to gather legions of new fans worldwide – with sharpened blades at hand this band is destined to become the genre’s most efficient sonic killing machine!

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES, who reformed in 2008 for a string of festival appearances, have announced that they will be playing more shows in 2011.
AT THE GATES, whose reunion tour included a now-legendary performance at Germany’s Wacken festival in 2008, will be doing a limited run of shows next year, with appearances at Metaltown Festival in Sweden and Tuska Open Air in Finland already confirmed.
The band commented:
“At The Gates will do a limited run of select shows in 2011. Simply put, we had the time of our lives during the 2008 reunion and have decided to do a couple more shows. Although we won’t be touring extensively, and we stick to the initial promise of not making any more music. Please check our homepage and MySpace for updates.”
Catch AT THE GATES live in 2011 at the following shows:
17 June 2011 – Gothenburg, Sweden – Metaltown
22 July 2011 – Helsinki, Finland – Tuska Open Air
More shows will be announced soon.
AT THE GATES’ triumphant return to the live scene was celebrated with the release of THE FLAMES OF THE END, a 3-DVD set marking AT THE GATES’ massively influential career, featuring the band’s full live show from Wacken festival in 2008, along with a brand new 2-hour documentary chronicling the band’s entire career, plus 26 rare and archive live AT THE GATES performances from around the world between 1991 and 2008.
Also available is PURGATORY UNLEASHED – LIVE AT WACKEN, a live CD featuring 18 live tracks from the band’s performance at Wacken festival.
Italian deathsters HUMANGLED have recently parted ways with bassist Tat0 and drummer Raffaele Pezzella due to pure logistic reasons. According to a statement from the band, there is no ill-will on either side and everyone remains close friends.
HUMANGLED are fully committed to evolve as band and are pleased to announce that bassist Frank Nichols and drummer Valdaster have joined the fold. With this newly revamped roster, HUMANGLED are working hard on new material, following their FRACTAL debut album which was released earlier this year by Abyss Records.
In other HUMANGLED news, the band has recently posted a video for the track “Liquidfire,” which can be seen below. The clip was directed by the award winning Vincenzo “Vinx” Ricchiuto and stars Italian actresses Arianna Neri Alice Iozzelli and Paola Giuntoli.
“Liquidfire” comes off HUMANGLED’s first album Fractal, which was released on 31st May by Abyss Records. The CD was recorded in Italy and mixed/mastered in Sweden by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios.
Unfortunately Cradle Of Filth have had to cancel the first date of their South American tour which was due to take place in Ecuador on Friday night. Dani Filth has made this statement about the cancellation:
Everyone involved with the band, and especially the band themselves are deeply distressed over the cancellation of our show in Ecuador this Friday. This is the second time we have had to pull out of a concert in Ecuador (the last cancellation being due to airport closure as we were circling the runway!).
Unfortunately this time has been due to several reasons, including severe weather conditions stranding half the band’s crew, deep ‘contractual’ problems, plus flight-booking f**k-ups. It is a regrettable situation to be in, but unfortunately an impossible one at this particular time to rectify.
Our sincere apologies go out to all the fans we have disappointed by this very well thought out decision, the band feeling even worse about it as we are all stuck in cold, redundant limbo for two days.
As for the rest of our South American tour, all other shows are definitely on, the first being on the twelfth at the Teatro Metropol, in Bogotá, Colombia, this very Sunday. We can’t wait, though once again, I’d like to apologise to all our loyal, disappointed fans in Ecuador. We are so pissed off that this has had to happen.
All the very best,
A deeply annoyed Dani Filth.
Fans who had bought tickets for the gig should contact the promoter to receive a refund.
Nailboard Records is proud to announce the January 11th, 2011 release of the debut album of the up-and-coming Estonian melodic death metal band Ceremonial Perfection. To support the release, the band will embark upon a 15-day tour of Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Ceremonial Perfection is an emergent five-piece from Tallinn, Estonia, formed in late 2007. The band´s ascent is impressive, especially considering the members´ average age of below 20. In a mere three years they have played extensively in Estonia, while also managing a scattering of performances abroad, including a successful two-and-a-half-week tour of Russia, sharing stages with Finland´s massively renowned Norther. The melodic foundation of the band´s music is suffused in heavy riffs and atmospheric keys, thus making the concordant essence of their songs embraceable both by headbangers as well as those wholly unfamiliar with metal.
Work on the band´s debut full-length began in the spring of 2010. “Alone in the End” was recorded at Sinusoid Studios (www.sinusoid.ee), the birthplace of the best-sounding records in Estonia, produced and co-arranged by Kristo Kotkas, a top sound engineer sought-after in all of Scandinavia. Artwork for the eight-page booklet was crafted by one of the best graphic masters in Europe, Björn Gosses of Killustrations Studio, famous for designs implemented, among other top acts, by Amon Amarth, Kataklysm and Six Feet Under.
“Alone in the End” will be released on January 11, 2011 by Nailboard Records in Estonia and Fono Ltd. in Russia/CIS. The Nailboard Records release entails two versions: a colour digipak and a deluxe box, which includes the album, a t-shirt, a patch and a poster.

Quebecois technical death metallers NEURAXIS have unveiled the cover of their upcoming album, “Asylon,” which will be released in North America on February 15th, 2011. The cover art was created by artist Dennis Sibeijn of Damnengine Artwork, who worked with the band on their previous album, “The Thin Line Between,” as well with Job For A Cowboy, Chimaira and more. “Asylon” was recorded at Wildsound Studio with producer Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Last Felony, The Agonist). Prosthetic has launched the pre-order for the album, at its official webstore. (http://store.prostheticrecords.com/index.php/sales-preorders/preorders)
Vocalist Alex Leblanc commented on the cover: “So here is the cover for “Asylon”. As many of you will see, it is very different from all our previous album covers. Since the lyrics and the music are so connected on the new record, we wanted the cover to represent perfectly the vibe…dark, visceral and heavy. We used a lot of dark green to represent the sick/poisonous mood of the lyrics.”
NEURAXIS has just been confirmed as support for legendary extreme metal act, Sepultura on their spring headline run. This is in addition to the previously announced tour supporting death metal masters Deicide in February and March.
Leblanc commented on touring with the Brazilian trailblazers: “On another note, we just confirmed our participation to the Sepultura tour starting next april. It’s a massive tour covering the whole north american circuit. Is it really necessary to tell you how stoked we are to be a part of this??? I remember moshing in high school corridors listening to “Arise” back in the days. This tour will start one month after the Deicide tour so it will be a good and busy winter/spring for us…See you guys on the road!”

“Black Rivers Flow” set to come out February 1, 2011 – First single ‘The Ultimate Sacrifice’ to premier on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal!
Midwest thrashers LAZARUS A.D. are pleased to announce Black Rivers Flow as the title to their second full-length album due out February 1st via Metal Blade Records. The highly anticipated release was recorded in July and August 2010 at Belle City Sound with Chris Wisco and was mixed & mastered by James Murphy at Safehouse Production.
Track listing for Black Rivers Flow:
1. American Dreams
2. The Ultimate Sacrifice
3. The Strong Prevail
4. Black Rivers Flow
5. Casting Forward
6. Light A City (Up In Smoke)
7. Through Your Eyes
8. Beneath the Waves of Hatred
9. Eternal Vengeance
Bassist and lead vocalist Jeff Paulick comments; “First off, I have to say we are incredibly proud of Black Rivers Flow. It’s been three and a half years since we recorded our last album and we’ve grown a lot since then. During the writing process for Black Rivers Flow we were dealing with great personal tragedies. We found a way to draw strength from those tragedies and use it as inspiration to write what we feel.”
We don’t need to rave about the well-known legacy of the man who is Scott Weinrich, better known as Wino. With dozens of albums released throughout his time spent in The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Shine, Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand, Shrinebuilder, Dave Grohl’s Probot project and much more since the late ’70s, his mammoth and varied resume spans nearly three full decades, essentially set him up as a purveyor and forerunner of the entire genre we now call doom rock. A true legend; this is Wino. But, with the release of the humble but legendary musician’s new solo album, Adrift, a side of the man that most haven’t heard is being uncovered for the first time. Answering the call from his friends and supporters to record an acoustic solo album following the sudden and tragic passing of friend and bandmate Jon Blank, who appeared on Wino’s first “solo release” Punctuated Equilibrium album in 2009, he set to work on his most personal and powerful recording to date. Adrift is a revealing alternative view of this underground legend’s personality and history. Stripped down to the bare minimum — just his voice and his guitar — the songs on Adrift follow classic American songwriting ideals offering a compelling mixture of emotion and storytelling. Wino is a man on his own in a boat without sails. He’s fighting against tides and storms, enjoying the moments of bright sunshine; bound to the will of something external — the wind, destiny and the drift. Easily his most heartfelt and personal material to be recorded to date, the twelve tracks on Adrift help elevate this already iconic musician to a new level of storytelling, setting Wino up to fall right in line with greats like Johnny Cash, Woodie Guthrie, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and other classic American songwriters.
Adrift Track Listing: 01. Adrift
02. I Don’t Care
03. Hold On Love
04. Mala Suerte
05. Old And Alone
06. Iron Horse/Born To Lose
07. Suzanes Song
10. Shot In The Head
12. Green Speed
Adrift is set for official release on respected German label Exile On Mainstream Records March 8th, 2011 in North America, the label now distributed domestically by E1 Entertainment. A limited edition vinyl version of the album featuring extended liner notes and more is to be released in the U.S. on January 18th by Volcom Entertainment.
Wino will hit the road stateside this February on a short acoustic tour, rocking alongside longtime friend, and also Shrinebuilder bandmate, Scott Kelly (Neurosis). The tour will be in support of the upcoming split 7″ between Wino and Kelly, to be released early in the year by Volcom, as well as the Adrift album. Sponsored by BrooklynVegan, the tour will venture through California, Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland and New York, showcasing both legendary artists each in solo, acoustic mode.

The Extra Dimensional Wound, the second full-length from California black metal legion LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH, will see its vinyl release via Canonical Hours Records. The wax version will be released on December 15th as a deluxe gatefold LP featuring two 200-gram discs with a 12-page booklet and expanded artwork in a limited edition of 500 copies.
Said the band in a collective statement:”If you enjoyed this release you MUST hear it on 200 gram vinyl as it was intended. We’ve also included a poster featuring new art.” The Extra Dimensional Wound was released earlier this year via Metal Blade Records. Their second official studio offering (and first for the label) continues to reap critical accolades for it’s infernal crushingness. Said About.com of the outing: “one of the label’s best releases in recent memory. What makes this album work so well is that LSOD haven’t lost their powerful low end, their penchant for blasphemy [or] their H.P. Lovecraft tinged-lyrics…..” Stereogum commended the band saying The Extra Dimensional Wound is, “brutal, icy hot, super heavy, [and] full of lurching ‘grooves,'” while Invisible Oranges added adamantly: “…perhaps the first American black metal band who can go toe-to-toe with Europe’s heavy-hitters in terms of force.” Sea Of Tranquility called it “a solid old school sounding release the ups the ante as far as the brutality goes,” and The Gauntlet put it simply: “LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH evoke unforgiving torture and terror with every note.” In conjunction with the vinyl release, the band will take their auditory brutality to the stage later this month for a special pre-holiday one-off show with more dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

The road never ends for BONDED BY BLOOD. Currently on the last week of their tour with labelmates, EVILE and GAMA BOMB, the band will be taking a short holiday break before joining DEATH ANGEL on their North American Retribution 2011 tour then jetting off to Europe for a slew of dates. Continuing the pace of their relentless touring streak, BONDED BY BLOOD have announced new dates in support of SEPULTURA in Spring 2011. Here’s what the band had to say about their newly announced tour with SEPULTURA and more:
“What an honor it is to share the stage with Sepultura. Everyone is excited to hit the road with them and all the other great bands on the tour. This is one of the many awesome things BBB has planned for 2011, and we don’t plan on stopping! We hope to make new friends and fans while we are out and about. So come down to one of the many great shows on this North American tour and have a beer with us! We will see you on the killing road.”
