Montreal based tech-death metal band, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, have launched the track, “Black Tide,” from their upcoming five song EP “Marée Noire”, which will be released in North America on September 14th. It will be available as a limited edition red 7” record and on CD. Pre-order is now available for each format, as well as for bundles including a brand new shirt design. Check out the track and the pre-order at www.store.prostheticrecords.com
The track listing of the EP is:
The Casket You Sleep In
Drill Baby Drill
Designed To Strangle
“Marée Noire” was produced and mixed by Chris Donaldson, known for his work with Cryptopsy, and mastered by Alan Douches (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Converge). It features artwork by Felix Rancourt, who has done work for the band before, as well as Despised Icon, Neuraxis and more.
Guitarist Chris Bradley commented on the release: “’Marée Noire’ was written using a different approach than the preceding release. We wouldn’t start the writing process from the same point. Some songs were more structured by melodies while others all started from drums pattern. I think it makes the songs stand out a little more.”
Vocalist Elliot Desgagnes added: “It’s going to be two years since our last album and we had the idea of a short release while we keep writing for the next full length. We picked five songs to go on the EP and I feel like these are by far the best songs we’ve ever written. Nothing that different from our other releases but we’re always getting a little closer to the sound we want. So we’re all satisfied with the result and are looking forward to share it.
“The tones are a little rawer and it helped a lot that Donaldson and Bradley already worked together in the past. We were all on the same page and everything went well in studio. I really like the EP format. It’s easier lyrically to make connections between the songs and follow a thought pattern. We named the EP ‘Marée Noire,’ ‘Black Tide,’ in English, because I was writing lyrics on Absurdism, self fulfilled prophecy and corporations raping everything, when BP started to shit in the Gulf of Mexico.”
BENEATH THE MASSACRE will do a Canadian tour beginning in late August and wrapping up in early October, sponsored by JagerMusic Canada. They will be playing with Neuraxis, Ion Dissonance and others along the trek.

“Marée Noire” is the band’s first release since 2008’s “Dystopia.” Since recording “Dystopia,” the band has toured extensively: five full North American tours (including Summer Slaughter Canada 2008 and Sumer Slaughter 2009) and four full European tours (including Thrash and Burn Europe the past two years) BENEATH THE MASSACRE were nominated in 2009 for Metal Hammer’s Golden God Award for “Best Underground Band.”
Bassist JAMES LOMENZO Joins LYNCH MOB For The Summer Tour and Europe
“Smoke And Mirrors” Out Now On Frontiers Records USA
HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 29, 2010) – James Lomenzo (Megadeth, Black Label Society) joins Lynch Mob for their summer tour in support of their current release “Smoke and Mirrors” on Frontiers Records. The band line-up for this tour consists of George Lynch (shred master), Oni Logan (vox),
and Brian Tichy (time-keeper).
After seventeen long years singer Oni Logan and guitar wizard George Lynch found their way back together and again show their amazing abilities in some killer new Hard Rock songs.” I would say this new record “Smoke and Mirrors”, is the record we should have put out as a follow up to “Wicked Sensation”…better late than never I guess…”, says Lynch presenting the new record.
Lynch Mob was formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after DOKKEN split up in 1989. The band’s first album” Wicked Sensation” went on to sell over 500,000 units in the US and featured the talents of singer
Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former DOKKEN member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of Queensryche, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow up self titled release. However Lynch and Brown eventually returned to Dokken releasing 2 studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of Lynch Mob and exploring new sounds with different projects.
Originally scheduled for November 2009, then moved to February 2010, then again moved to July 2010, this seemed to be the concert that would never happen for many of us on the East Coast of Canada. Thanks to the rescheduling, in airline ticket change fees alone this concert cost $300! Add on top of the actual flight cost, concert ticket, hotels, meals, and a pile of metal shirts, this is one of the most expensive concerts I’ve ever been to!! Sadly none of these bands have ever played out this way before which added to the anticipation. As everyone knows, the delays were caused by Slayer’s Tom Araya and his ongoing back problems and eventual back surgery. The line-up also changed with openers Machine Head being replaced by the mighty Testament and the band Suicide Silence thankfully no longer on the bill for July. Read the rest of this entry »
"The Last Living Slut:Born In Iran, Bred Backstage"
Interview conducted by Robert Williams
Roxana Shirazi was raised traditionally in Tehran, Iran and grew up during Iran’s political revolution but fled to England with her mother at the age of ten. As a teenager, a young Roxana fell under the spell of rock n’ roll and would often fantasize about living out her hedonistic dreams of utter debauchery. By the time she was a young lady Roxana was doing just that while living a double life. By day Roxana earned herself a degree in Gender and Feminist Studies at Bath Spa University, but by night she was engaging in steamy sexual encounters with some of hard rock’s most well known superstars… and some lesser known rockers to boot. Roxana Shirazi recently released her new book "The Last Living Slut:Born In Iran, Bred Backstage" a tell-all memoir that is as relevant as it is raunchy, challenging society’s often sexist outlook on the female libido. Roxana has felt political oppression at a young age, endured sexual abuse as a child, yet retains a lust for life throughout the duration of her book. "The Last Living Slut:Born In Iran, Bred Backstage" is a real page turner, unflinching in it’s first hand graphic recollections of rock n’ roll hedonism.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the digital only release of the single track “Silence” from the much anticipated album featuring the collaboration between singers Amanda Somerville and Michael Kiske on August 20th 2010.
“Silence” was written by the Primal Fear team featuring bassist / producer Mat Sinner and guitarist Magnus Karlsson. The song explores a different, more atmospheric and melodic direction for the two writers. According to Kiske “The video shoot was a long day from 6 AM to midnight, but since everyone was so nice and easy going, it was a very pleasant experience. Especially Amanda and Sander Gommans are such fine people and made it an extraordinary journey. I do like the song ‘Silence’ a lot, nice drama and good melodies”.
The videoclip of “Silence” can be watched on youtube now:
“Silence” video, along with the other clip “If I Had A Wish” and a making of documentary will be available on bonus DVD which will come together with the full album to be released in Europe on September 24th and USA on October 12th 2010 on Frontiers Records.

THREE CLASSIC SLAYER IN-CONCERT TITLES TO BE RELEASED ON DVD
Note: A video press release can be viewed below.
LOS ANGELES, CA – THURSDAY, July 29, 2010 — The last time you went shopping for DVDs, you might have noticed an unmistakable empty space where Slayer titles should have been. The reason is simple – all of Slayer’s DVDs have been out of print. But rest easy Slayer fanatics, the wait will soon be over. On August 17, 2010, 2003’s “War at the Warfield” and 2004’s “Still Reigning” will be reissued, and, for the first time ever, 1995’s “Live Intrusion,” having been digitally remastered, will also be available on DVD. All three will be sold separately at retail and online ($13.98 each), and the Limited Edition “Slayer Live DVD 3-Pak” ($29.98), will be available exclusively on Slayer’s website, www.slayer.net
“I remember around ‘God Hates Us All,'” , said Slayer’s Kerry King, “asking when we were going to make a DVD of ‘Live Intrusion.’ So, here we are, ten years later, and it’s about time.”
Every one of the Slayer live-in-concert DVDs represents a different era of the band: “Live Intrusion” was recorded on March 12, 1995 at the Mesa Amphitheatre in Mesa, AZ, and features guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Paul Bostaph. The disc, which is certified Gold, includes some of the most classic Slayer songs such as “Raining Blood” and “War Ensemble,” but also some early special tracks like “At Dawn They Sleep” and “Captor of Sin.” As a bonus, Machine Head’s Robb Flynn and Chris Kontos join the band on-stage for a cover of Venom’s “Witching Hour.” The opening of “Live Intrusion” features a look at some of the band’s very unique fans, in particular, with special emphasis placed upon the fan from the mid-90s who had “Slayer” carved onto his forearm. In addition, the quality of “Live Intrusion” is high-end, as the original VHS master was located and used to create the DVD.
“War at the Warfield” was filmed at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, CA on December 7, 2001, and like “Live Intrusion,” features drummer Paul Bostaph, marking his last release with Slayer before original drummer, Dave Lombardo, rejoined the band. “Seasons in the Abyss,” “Mandatory Suicide,” and “Disciple” are some of the jewels on this live collection that debuted at #3 on Billboard’s DVD chart, and has since been certified Gold.
Filmed at the Civic Center in Augusta, ME on July 11, 2004, “Still Reigning” – also Gold certified and voted Best Live DVD by the readers of Revolver magazine – was directed by Dean Karr and recreates Slayer’s thrash/punk, 28-minute classic 1986 album “Reign In Blood” performed in its entirety. The end of the video features the “Wall of Blood,” with the band, their instruments, and the stage completely drenched by a downpour of 150 liters of “blood.”
“There was no dress rehearsal for the blood trick,” explained King. “It was either going to work or it wasn’t going to work, and we know it did work. It was so hard to play, I thought I was going to have to go back and overdub all of ‘Reigning Blood,’ but I listened to it and it was all there, it was just a lot more slippery with all the blood goo.”
The “Still Reigning” DVD offers bonus material including live performances of Slayer staples such as “Hell Awaits,” “Hallowed Point,” Necrophiliac,” “Spill the Blood,” and “South of Heaven.” The DVD also marked the return of drummer Dave Lombardo. “Even before the idea of ‘Still Reigning’ became a reality, I really wanted to do a video with Dave in it,” said King, “and I knew the fans wanted that as well.”
The Chicago Tribune’s long-time pop music critic Greg Kot wrote that Slayer “is one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.” Over the past near three-decades, Slayer has created some of thrash/metal’s most enduring and influential recordings – 1986’s “Reign In Blood,” 1990’s “Seasons in the Abyss,” up to the band’s latest, 2009’s “World Painted Blood.” Long-time fans will attest that nothing comes close to experiencing a Slayer show live and in the flesh; but there’s no denying how the band’s intensity and heaviness translates to these three killer DVDs.

In an official statement from Emperor Magus Caligula, longtime vocalist of Swedish black metal battalion DARK FUNERAL: “I would like to inform all of our fans that on Saturday, August 21, at the Summer Breeze festival in Germany, I will be doing my last show with the band. Naturally I have mixed feelings about this decision, but it is final! They say that every person will have about 15 minutes of fame during their life. Well, I have had a hell-of-a-ride for 15 years now together with Lord Ahriman and DARK FUNERAL. As some people love to spread weird rumors about others, let me make this clear once and for all. I have not committed suicide, I have not taken an overdose, nor are there any personal issues between me and DARK FUNERAL.
However, my life has taken a new turn lately, and I am also getting married this year, thus my priorities in life lie somewhere else.I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our fans for their amazing support during all the 15 years I’ve been with the band. And I would also like to thank my brothers in DARK FUNERAL for all these years together. Lord Ahriman and I have managed to raise DARK FUNERAL from the deepest abyss, when we have confronted problems before. And there is no doubt in my mind, that DARK FUNERAL, without me, will raise once more, stronger than ever…
Thus I have spoken, thus shalt it be…… — Horns up, Masse Broberg A.K.A Emperor Magus Caligula” Added guitarist Lord Ahriman: “Ave everyone! Caligula and I have shared some 15 kick ass years together and I would naturally like to thank my brother for the amazing work he has done for DARK FUNERAL over all these years. It’s been a pleasure indeed working together. You will be missed deeply! But as with everything else, I understand when people change course and get new priorities in life. And I fully respect that. Life moves on after all, and so will DARK FUNERAL. In the meantime, and while we’re searching for a new vocalist, the most logical thing for us to do, is obviously enter writing mood. And that’s exactly what we’ll be doing. From now on and until we have found and installed a new killer vocalist, we begin to work on a new full-length. However, you can rest assured that as soon as we have found a new vocalist, we’ll set full force, and continue to tour the world in usual DARK FUNERAL manner. THIS STATEMENT ALSO SERVES AS AN OFFICIAL LAUNCH FOR A NEW VOCALIST!
Naturally, our demands on a new vocalist will be very high, but I/we are fully confident that there are some amazing vocalists out there that would fit us like a hand in glove. So if you do believe that you have what it takes to blow us away with your vocal skills, and to replace Caligula, don’t hesitate to send us some AUDIO/DVD files of your vocal performance! Send to: email@example.com. Since the show at the Summer Breeze Festivalwill be the very last show we will do with Caligula behind the mic, you can be sure that we’ll prepare a very special pyro show. See you there!

British death metal act IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION are due to kick off a headlining European tour this Sunday, 1st August, with Detroit deathcore destroyers AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH and HONOUR IS DEAD.
IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION, who are taking time out from working on a new album to headline the string of shows, are looking forward to teaming up with their labelmates in AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH – for whom this will be their first ever European tour.
IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION bassist CHRIS BALL comments:
“This tour is going to be a heavy one, not only on stage but off! We have been looking forward to this since the idea was proposed. With it being AHFW’s first time over here we’re hoping we can show them the enthusiasm European metallers have! Me and Kyle have been plotting on what will make this tour that little bit more over the top than any other tour! If everyone is wanting to see what we get up to while we’re away then follow us on our Twitters (not for the faint of hearted).
“We’re also hitting cities/countries we’ve never been to before, this should seem interesting as we know Europe is already awesome! Still definitely looking forward to UK shows including Bristol which will include our tour buddies from last December, While She Sleeps, and all our friends should be there to show AHFW how the UK party! See you out there and don’t be afraid to come party with us!”
AND HELL FOLLOWED WITH guitarist KYLE MCILMURRAY adds:
“Very grateful and stoked to have this lot of tour dates with Ignom. They seem to be awesome dudes so it should be a real banger from the get go. Not only will it be fun for us, it will be fun for the fans. Our first time in Europe will definitely be something to remember!”
Keep up with all of the antics of the tour as they unfold by following the bands on Twitter:
Metal Blade Records has teamed up with MetalSucks.net to give metalers a chance to check out the experimental death metal act FLESHWROUGHT’s debut full-length album, Dementia/Dyslexia, in its entirety before it is even released. Make sure to go to MetalSucks.net starting today to check out Dementia/Dyslexia and if you like what you hear, head over to FLESHWROUGHT’s landing page to get deals on the album before it is released.

4. Weeping Hallucinations
5. Conceptual Flesh
6. State of Desolation
7. Dyslexic Interlude
8. Self-Destructive Loathing
9. Relevant Intoxication
10. Final Nausea
Dementia/Dyslexia was finished by June 2009 and was recorded at Navene’s studio, Death Midi Soundlab, in San Francisco. Navene played all of the instruments, did all the tracking, mixing, and editing, with mastering handled by Dustin Miller at Audio Aggregate Recordings in Des Moines Iowa.
About the band:
FLESHWROUGHT was born in 2003 when death/grind drummer Navene Kopperweis (former drummer of San Francisco Bay area grind band Animosity and drummer for Animals as Leaders), paired up with Nic Gauthier and made a demo at their friend’s house. A live lineup formed shortly after the demo was recorded and consisted of Nic, Navene and fellow Animosity band mate Chase Fraser. FLESHWROUGHT played a few local shows in Santa Cruz California (where the band called home), one of which was a New Year’s house party with Decrepit Birth. As time went on, the guys jammed less and less due to Animosity’s high frequency tour schedule and Navene moving an hour and a half away to San Francisco. However, Navene’s writing for FLESHWROUGHT never slowed down and in fact his productivity was increasing exponentially as Navene had acquired amazing musical tools such as 7-string guitars, computers, and recording software; all components necessary to make his own album.
While Animosity was on the “Steers and Beers” tour supporting the band’s Blackmarket Activities debut Empires, the band played a show in Phoenix AZ with a local band called JOB FOR A COWBOY. During JFAC’s set Navene thought to himself “dang! That singer is brutal!” All of the guys became great friends and even went on to tour the United States and Europe together. “I knew Jonny Davy was the only guy for my CD,” comments Navene. So at this point, Navene and Jonny decided to join forces began working hard to perfect the band’s debut full-length album titled Dementia/Dyslexia.
TRIPTYKON Announce Line-Up For Their First North American Tour;
Tom Gabriel Warrior Provides His Thoughts
Decibel Magazine and Stereogum/Haunting the Chapel present the “Weltenbrand Tour 2010″ featuring the North American debut of TRIPTYKON with 1349 and Yakuza rounding out the bill. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/triptykonofficial or see below to view the entire tour itinerary. You don’t want to miss out on this monumental event when it hits your city.
Tom Gabriel Warrior (vocals, guitars) describes his emotions on the eve of this new undertaking: “Ever since my earliest days in Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to count on the support, fanaticism, and immense loyalty of the North American metal scene. The recognition my work has received there eclipses anything I have ever encountered in my own native country. Of the 125 concerts performed on the final Celtic Frost tour in 2006 and 2007, for example, a full 71 were played in North America. Some of these performances rank among the most memorable ones in my entire career.”
“It is thus an immense honor for me to now bring my new group TRIPTYKON to North America for the first time. TRIPTYKON is further pursuing the path I once began with Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, and I am looking forward to continuing to forge this darkest of musical alliances with all of you. We shall all celebrate masses of unleashed heaviness and morbidity. Only death is real!”
The main purpose of TRIPTYKON is to continue where Celtic Frost left off and to satisfy Warrior’s undying passion for extreme music. Indeed some of the material Fischer was working on post-Monotheist ended up on TRIPTYKON’s debut album, Eparistera Daimones, so it stands to reason, besides the obvious fact that Fischer fronts TRIPTYKON, the two are sonically and spiritually closely connected. As can be expected, Eparistera Daimones is therefore a musical leviathan.
Next to Warrior, TRIPTYKON features V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard (drums, percussion) and Vanja Slajh (bass). Eparistera Daimones was produced by Tom Gabriel Warrior and TRIPTYKON guitarist V. Santura. Like Celtic Frost’s universally praised Monotheist album, Eparistera Daimones was mastered by Walter Schmid at Oakland Recording in Winterthur, Switzerland.
