The title for the 7th IMPIETY‘s full length album is Worshippers of the Seventh Tyranny currently being recorded in utter depravation and satanic violence at Music City Studios in Treviso, Italy. The album will have seven blasphemies with a running time close to 40mins.
The Barbarian Black Horde IMPIETY now comprises of Shyaithan (Bass.Vomit) in command with Guh Lu (Guitars), Eskathon (Guitars) and prevailing drummer Andrea Janko (Artillery). The band rehearsed in early August in the city of Trieste, Italy and commenced recording at Music City, Treviso on 24th Aug. The recording, mix and mastering will be completed in another 7-8 days and we are looking forward to getting this heavy-as-fuck Masterpiece unleashed by Agonia Records.
More news in the coming weeks ahead.

FORGOTTEN TOMB STARTED TO RECORD THEIR LONG AWAITED 5th ALBUM!
FORGOTTEN TOMB started the recording sessions for the long anticipated brand-new studio-album, titled Under Saturn Retrograde, to be released hopefully around January 2011.
The sessions took place at Elfo Studio, located in Tavernago, Piacenza (Italy), the same studio where the band recorded now-classic albums such as Love’s Burial Ground and Negative Megalomania (Songs to Leave and the first Demo/MCD Obscura Arcana Mortis were recorded at Elfo Studio as well, but it was in a different location back at that time). Back to the engineering position there’s Daniele Mandelli, producer/sound engineer of Songs To Leave, Love’s Burial Ground and Negative Megalomania.
Herr Morbid comments: We started setting up the drums and placing all the microphones on Friday morning, the 27th of August 2010. We placed something like 20 microphones on the drum-kit this time, just to make sure we can get the right sound, heh! Asher started playing & recording in late morning and then after lunch through all the afternoon, ’til 7 PM. He recorded following a metronome and I played a rhythm guitar line in the background, just to make sure everything work out right. The process went definitely smooth and we managed to track drums for 5 songs out of 9. On the 28th of August 2010 we started the sessions in the morning and we tracked down the other 4 songs in less than 6 hours. Again, the process was quite easy, though we took a bit more time for the title-track, since it’s rythmically a bit more complex than the other songs and it’s divided in 2 parts. At the end of the day I also recorded some tambourine for a song (The Cult docet) and some cow-bell as well (everyone knows my crush for Southern Rock, heh). But don’t worry, we aren’t making a Glam Rock album here!
The band plan to record guitars later this week. We’ll keep you posted! That’s all for now, stay tuned!
NEWS FROM DIE HARD
We would like to announce the new DIE HARD‘s drummer: his name is Martin Karlsson and he comes from Stockholm. After two intense rehearsals with Martin the band have decided to welcome him as a permanent member.
Simon will handle second guitar in DIE HARD. Simon is also from Stockholm and currently plays in bands like Valkyrja and Ondskapt.
Photos of the new line-up will be taken at the end of September in Stockholm by Soile (www.extremmetal.se) – to be presented later on.
In a couple of weeks the band will release a brand new, third 7” EP entitled THRASH THEM ALL. This EP will include 2 exclusive tracks. It will be available as limited to 400 copies black vinyl with printed inner jacket, poster, sticker and e-card as well as limited to 100 copies DIE HARD red vinyl with printed inner jacket, poster, sticker, e-card and patch. Release date: 31st of October.
The last nail in the coffin will come in March 2011 with their 4th 7 “EP including one new track and one cover of mighty Venom. More news will follow soon.
As this is being written, DIE HARD have started the process of writing new lethal and violent riffs and lyrics for the upcoming album. We are proud to announce that HARRIS JOHNS will be the man behind the recording, mixing, mastering and producing the forthcoming album. The recording session will take place next year in Berlin in MUSIC LAB BERLIN. Harris Johns is known for his work with bands and album like: Hellowen – Walls of Jericho / Kreator – Pleasure to Kill – Out of the Dark / Sodom – Presection Mania – Agent Orange / Tankard – Chemical Invasion – The Morning After / Voivod – Killing Technology – Dimension Hatröss / Coroner – R.I.P. and a hell of more classic thrash metal album.
The 7″ EP and the new album will be released via Agonia Records.
As it turns out, the levees broke long before Katrina. In the ’80s and ’90s, New Orleans birthed musical lineages that would haunt the underground and rule the world. Detuned and devastating, they rose from the swamps and from the amplifiers of men who knelt at the altar of The Almighty Riff. Who toiled in their Iommic studies and learned those lessons as if their lives depended upon them. They populated and propagated the pedigrees that brought you the dope-sick sludge of Eyehategod, the cinder-block doom of Crowbar, the brash Southern crossover of Corrosion of Conformity (via North Carolina) and the platinum power-grooves of Pantera (via Dallas, Texas). That’d be Jimmy Bower, Kirk Windstein, Pepper Keenan, Rex Brown and Philip Anselmo, more or less. But mostly more.
For the members of DOWN, it’s home. Sweet home. It’s ground zero. For a state of mind beset on all sides by too much tepid water, too many pills, barely enough weed and never enough Black Sabbath. Yeah, it might seem like the only way you could draw a straight line between the industrial wasteland of Birmingham, England—birthplace of Sabbath (and Judas Priest) to the festering cultural bouillabaisse of the Big Easy would be with a pencil and a ruler, but that ain’t necessarily the case. At least not since DOWN have been around, which by all accounts dates back to 1991, when then-Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo and Corrosion of Conformity frontman Pepper Keenan would trade tapes and listen to the doom-ridden prophecies of certified Sabbath heads like Saint Vitus and Trouble as well as Pentagram. Therein lies the genesis of DOWN, the eternal brotherhood into which Bower, Windstein and (eventually) Brown were later initiated.
Which is to say Sabbath is pretty much the key here, the origin of the bloodline, as it were. As loud and heavy and stoned and powerful as you can handle it. The coda to the film in this very package tells the tale: “Bust Up, Tune Down, Sabb Off.” And as DOWN’s 2004 Ozzfest appearance indicated, the Drab Four smile upon DOWN like DOWN smiles upon their own many and misbegotten spawn: the fans getting their faces ruled at the shows on this DVD, the kids who started bands after being inspired by what they heard; the kids who aren’t kids anymore but grown-ass men with highly respected (and respectable) musical outfits of their own. The names are many—too many to mention here, perhaps—but they wear their DOWN t-shirts (and DOWN tattoos) with pride.
But we were talking about New Orleans, where the wards teem with secrets and crawl with ghosts. You can see ’em in the Clarence John Laughlin photographs that grace the inner sleeve of DOWN’s unstoppable 1995 debut, NOLA. The product of floods, sweat and beers, it was an album of wall-to-wall motherfuckers without a filler cut in the bunch. From the towering Vitus-inspired doom of “Temptation’s Wings” and thundering power-grooves of “Lifer” and “Underneath Everything” to the haunting thickly muscled swamp-swing of “Stone the Crow” and the ultimate reefer death-dirge that is “Bury Me In Smoke,” the album chiseled a template in granite like a headstone in a potter’s field.
DOWN played roughly 25 shows between ’91 and ’02, with Crowbar bassist Todd Strange holding down the low end with all 400 or so pounds of his substantial girth. But soon Anselmo, Keenan, Windstein, and Bower were crisscrossing the globe in their other bands, and Down was necessarily placed on the proverbial back burner, a “side project” that looked increasingly like a one-off as the years passed and the individual members soldiered through the hard-won triumphs and squalid tribulations of the lifer experience. And yet in 2002, DOWN emerged from their self-enforced slumber with DOWN II: A Bustle In Your Hedgerow—and with Anselmo’s Pantera bandmate Rex Brown now on bass. Not unlike its predecessor, the album unleashed gargantuan bolts of detuned lightning like “Lysergick Funeral Procession,” “Ghosts Along The Mississippi” and “New Orleans Is A Dying Whore.” DOWN, it would seem, were back, edging ever closer to something like full-time status. But it was not to be. Not yet, anyway.
The day of reckoning came in 2005, when DOWN reunited in the wake of Pantera’s permanent and untimely demise. The following year—that’s The Year Of VI in Down-speak—the band stomped all over Europe for six straight weeks while a crack camera crew shot the concert film you currently hold in your sweaty paws with a certain sense of anticipation that can only be satisfied by pressing PLAY. Performing sold-out shows across the Old World with no promotion, no record label and no opening band, DOWN tore new ones from Hamburg to Stockholm and back again, culminating in an unannounced set in front of untold tens of thousands on the main stage at the Download Festival in Leicestershire, England. What you’ll witness on the enclosed audio-visual extravaganza is the unvarnished (“sour notes and screw-ups included,” Anselmo tells us) deliverance of the fucking goods from that six-week excursion, the merciless reaming of an entire continent, and the true grit of five lifers in the Brotherhood Of Eternal Sleep.
In Cologne, Germany, Anselmo sends “Lifer” out to fallen Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, who was gunned down onstage in Ohio in 2004, “and all our other brothers we lost along the goddamn way.” There’s Keenan, a close-up of his grizzled mug. And that fucking riff. The one from “Lifer” gets us every goddamn time.
Nottingham’s Rock City gets a face-full of “New Orleans Is A Dying Whore.” Keenan and Windstein churn out the opening salvo like it owes them money, on twin SGs, no less. In Copenhagen, the lighters come out for “Jail.” Backstage, the living legends of Europe’s metal underground turn out in force. There’s Cronos from Venom in Manchester, England. The dudes from Witchcraft in Stockholm. The black metal trifecta of Fenriz (Darkthrone), Satyr (Satyricon) and Frost (Satyricon, Gorgoroth, 1349) in Oslo.
At Download, Bower’s drums sound like fucking cannons and Rex’s bass, bulldozing. It’s “Bury Me In Smoke,” the grand finale to end all grand finales—and a sea of thousands to match a riff a thousand years wide. It’s before noon and the sun is blazing, cooking all that tender British flesh to an angry pink crisp. There’s a pit … make that several pits. There’s a false start, followed by threats and allegations. But the riff rides out, steamrolling everything, transcending all. And then the band’s performance and purpose is cemented as Anselmo tells the swirling masses, “Live long, live legendary.”
These are the precise words DOWN lives by.

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Following a slew of sold out headlining shows on their first North American tour in over three years, Sweden’s heavyweight progressive metal act, Katatonia, hit their first major bump in the road over the weekend when the band realized they had two guitars, straps, and wireless transmitters stolen from them at their stop in St. Paul on Saturday.
The band issued the following statement…
“Unfortunately tonight’s gig reached an all time low. Two of our guitars got stolen (including our straps with wireless transmitters), obviously causing performance difficulties, frustration and anger. Then against all odds, further technical problems kept on coming down one after another during the show. Apologies goes out to our fans in Minnesota for having to go through this.” The stolen Mayones guitars were to be the grand prize in two Katatonia giveaways that were launched in celebration of the otherwise extremely successful headlining run on the “Night Over North America” tour. Fans are encouraged to check Craigslist, Ebay, local pawnshops, etc. for the missing guitars, and report any suspicious activity to the band.
Katatonia will continue to forge across North America and back, as they round out the final two weeks of the tour.
Stay tuned for more information on Katatonia and the “Night Over North America” tour.
In the sixth of nine installments, bassist/vocalist Grutle Kjellson and rhythm guitarist/songwriter Ivar Bjørnson of the progressive/psychedelic Norwegian black metal band ENSLAVED offer commentary on the songs that will appear on the band’s new album Axioma Ethica Odini, which is scheduled for release in Europe on September 27th and in North America on September 28th.
Grutle on “Giants”:
“A wonderful doom/death piece that I also instantly liked. This one was also among the easiest to arrange and the first one we recorded vocals for. Perhaps the heaviest ENSLAVED song ever, and for the first time in many years, we even dug up our old [Roland] SH-1 [synthesizer] to add some psychedelic ‘70s-sounds! A really cool song to play, a monster! The lyrics deals with – as the title insinuates – the giants! Meaning the chaos inside each and every one of us and in our surroundings. The giants are the opposite of the æsir in Norse mythology, and symbolize the outer consciousness, female forces, and disorder. Always in conflict with the masculine, inner conscious order of the æsir.”
Ivar on “Giants”:
“This is definitely the heavy song of the album. If the opening riff is influenced by Voïvod, Black Sabbath, or both – I am not sure… but I am extremely satisfied with how it turned out. The main riff that follows is based on some kind of weird scale I came up with during a day on the tour bus in Portland last year. I don’t know one scale from the other, so I use associations to describe them. When the riff was played at a low enough tempo, I saw giants marching through the fog taking no heed of any obstacles, chaotic and determined at the same time. The ‘chorus’ (we don’t really have those, but common terms make it easier to discuss songs inside and outside of the band) keeps the marching feeling going and at the same time, musically depicts another side of the chaotic forces: One of beauty and freedom. As for who should have done the lyrics, there was no doubt once the title was ready: Grutle is definitely the man to write about the Giant forces. His lyrics fit the song perfectly!”
ENSLAVED will embark on a 7-show “Circling Above and Within Tour” of Europe beginning October 15th and will return to North America in November as the direct support act for DIMMU BORGIR. All upcoming tour dates are available here.

Baptized in Blood - debut album available October 19th
New York, NY: Canada’s BAPTIZED IN BLOOD are set to storm out of their native Canada and mount a takeover of American metal audiences when they release their self-titled, debut full-length for Roadrunner nationally on October 19. The band will also play alongside A Life Once Lost at the CMJ Music Marathon Metal Sucks Showcase, which will be held October 20 at Club Europa. Baptized in Blood have already turned the discerning head of a metal icon, Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, who was so impressed that he has taken on the role of co-manager for the London, Ontario-based band, alongside Mark Adelman.
Additionally, Mike D of Dark Icon Design, who also serves as the bassist for Killswitch Engage, designed the album artwork. While Baptized in Blood may have friends in high places, the band doesn’t rely on those associations; the five-piece delivers the goods with their bottom heavy, unrelenting metallic assault. Baptized in Blood are a classic Roadrunner signing that remains true the label’s long-standing history as the standard bearer of the best in hard rock and metal.
Baptized in Blood are influenced by Gothenburg metal, glam and everything in between, as long as it’s distorted! Their music is equally anthemic and groovy, without sacrificing one ounce of brutality. They’ve toured with US with Fear Factory and with Shadows Fall and Hatebreed in their native Canada. The band was also asked to join an already stellar lineup for the 2010 installment of the Heavy MTL Festival in Montreal, Quebec Canada, sharing the stage with the likes of Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Slayer, Lamb of God, Mastodon to name just a few, performing in front of 15,000 fans.
The track listing for Baptized in Blood is as follows:
Metal Mind Productions presents Nocte Obducta – a true metal phenomenon and one of the most influential black metal groups in Germany. Their music is often referred to as ‘avant-garde black metal’ due to their uncanny ability to combine brutal, demonic metal with psychedelic and even progressive styles. Their fourth full-length album, “Galgendämmerung – Von Nebel, Blut und Totgeburten” was originally released in 2002. This exclusive reissue brings back this devilish masterpiece in all its forbidden glory…
The band was primarily formed in the summer of 1993 in Mainz, Germany, under the name Desîhra. The group disbanded in 1995 without ever having played a single show or recorded a demo. However, on the ashes of that band Nocte Obducta was born. In January 1998 Nocte Obducta recorded their first demo. The release was very well received by both critics and fans, and the group was soon approached by Grind Syndicate Media who offered them a record deal. Their debut LP was released in 1999. Their second album – “Taverne – In Schatten schäbiger Spelunken” was released in 2000 and became “Album of the Month” in a German magazine Legacy, gaining very positive reviews from critics all across the country. Despite label problems which started to occur in 2000 Nocte Obducta managed to record soon two full-length albums: “Schwarzmetall – Ein primitives Zwischenspiel” (2001) and “Galgendämmerung – Von Nebel, Blut und Totgeburten” (2002). After recording “Galgendämmerung“ A. Magic M. and Shin decided to leave the group. Their duties were taken over by Flerik (bass) and Thomas (guitar). Nocte Obducta signed a new contract with Supreme Chaos Records and released their fifth album – “Stille – Das nagende Schweigen” in 2003. In March 2004 the group finished recording one of their greatest works yet – the two album epic called “Nektar”. Part one, entitled “Nektar Teil I: Zwölf Monde, eine Handvoll Träume”, was released in August 2004, while part two – “Nektar Teil II: Seen, Flüsse, Tagebücher” – saw the light of day in April 2005. Despite their strong underground reputation and successful releases, the group disbanded in June 2006. The group’s legacy was carried on in the band Dinner Auf Uranos. However, their music has a totally different vibe.
Nocte Obducta remains one of the most remarkable black metal projects ever to emerge on the metal scene. With lyrics sang only in German, it is truly a significant group among other blasphemous acts. “Galgendämmerung – Von Nebel, Blut und Totgeburten” is an amazing example of devilish and unholy avant-garde. The new digipak edition of the album is limited to 2000 copies. Remastered using tube technology, digitally edited on a golden disc. Metal Mind Productions set the release date for October, 11th in Europe and December, 7th in USA (via MVD).

The Hi Fi – Melbourne
After the canceled North American tour, there has been much theorizing, but little hard facts surrounding the last minute decision by Roy Khan to return to Norway for “medical treatment.” In an interview last week with the Norwegian daily newspaper, Østlendingen, the KAMELOT singer opened up about his condition, a hasty English translation follows:
Broke down right before the tour started…
The vocalist of famous metal band Kamelot, Roy Sætre Khantatat from Elverum, is reported sick after a breakdown just before the start of the North American tour, and has decided to postpone the tour that would have started on Wednesday. “I am burned out, pure and simple. A breakdown a couple of weeks ago gave me a serious indication that something was wrong. Now I’m just glad and relieved that I got to the doctor,” says an honest Roy Sætre Khantatat to Østlendingen. Khan, as he’s also known, says that he’s been going completely “offline” lately. “I haven’t had the energy to check either my cell phone or my mail. It’s been difficult to keep up with my own and other people’s expectations of me,” he explains.
There has been a lot back and forth lately regarding Kamelot’s planned North American tour after the band’s frontman and vocalist, Roy Sætre Khantatat, became ill. First the plan was to continue the tour with the help of CIRCUS MAXIMUS vocalist Michael Eriksen. But on Tuesday this week came reports that the band had changed their minds. “No. Now, I haven’t talked much about that either, except supporting myself on my family. This whole thing is feeling very real. I need this break.”
Resting in Elverum…
The future is something Khan hasn’t thought very much about. “Most things has really been about getting back on my feet again, but I want to get back to Kamelot,” he says. The metal singer says he wants to spend time around his hometown as part of the restoration process. “I want to be around my family, my home region and the mountains,” says Khan.
Kamelot’s new album, Poetry For The Poisoned, was recorded at Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producers Sascha Paeth and Miro and features guest appearances by Simone Simons (EPICA), Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Björn “Speed” Strid (SOILWORK) and Jon Oliva (SAVATAGE, JON OLIVA’S PAIN).
The album is available in three versions – Regular CD edition, Digipak CD with bonus DVD and 2LP gatefold vinyl edition.
DVD bonus material:
– Kamelot video ‘The Great Pandemonium’
– Exclusive and in depth Interviews with each Kamelot member
– Kamelot “Pick and Play” for the song ‘The Great Pandemonium’
– Poetry For The Poisoned background Images
– Exclusive video footage from Norway Rock Festival 2010
