Thin Lizzy was one of the prime hard-rock bands of the 70s. During the years with legendary vocalist/bassist Phil Lynott at the helm, i.e. 1969-83, the band produced innumerable classic tracks like “Whisky in the Jar”, “Boys Are Back In Town”, “Jailbreak”, “Don’t Believe a Word” and “Cold Sweat”. Songs with a unique combination of groove, melody and ingenuity. No reunion was ever made before Lynott’s passing in 1986, but ten years later the surviving members of Thin Lizzy’s final line-up decided to start playing the classics again, under the old monicker. The line-up changed several times, and in 2009 Thin Lizzy seemed to face permanent dissolution. But no. May 2010 marked the band’s official return in its strongest incarnation for a very long time. Namely former Thin Lizzy-members Scott Gorham (guitar), Brian Downey (drums), Darren Wharton (keyboards) and Marco Mendoza (bass), along with guitarist Viv Campbell (Def Leppard, ex-Dio) and singer Ricky Warwick (ex-The Almighty). Saying that Thin Lizzy are welcome back to SRF would be an understatement, the legend is back with a vengeance!

In the fearsome tradition of crossover thrash forged by acts like D.R.I., S.O.D., C.O.C, and a lot of other bands with three-letter acronyms comes BIRTH A.D.! The band formed in 2008 in Austin, Texas, as a side project of Candlelight Recording artists and underground American black metal legion AVERSE SEFIRA, and have been kicking up an unholy racket ever since.
BIRTH A.D.‘s first offering is their self-produced EP, Stillbirth of a Nation. Their snarling crossover anthems stand a head and shoulders above the current thrash pack, combining the political fury of punk rock and balls-out intensity of vintage speed metal with their own metal thrashing madness. No gimmicks, no high-tops, no trends – Birth A.D. are the real fucking deal. Their debut effort is chaos incarnate, a raging slab of sociopolitical outrage and razor-edged riffs guaranteed to incite riots and draw blood.
The band’s inaugural outing was a successful eleven-date tour of Japan in October 2009, and since then have appeared with numerous high-profile touring thrash metal acts throughout the United States. BIRTH A.D. is currently working on new material and seeking label support in order to crush, kill, destroy! BIRTH A.D. is:

The members of BONDED BY BLOOD are all doing fine after a van accident that had occurred this past weekend. Bassist, Jerry Garcia updated fans on the situation with a statement written on his Tumblr page (http://moreworldsthanone.tumblr.com/):
“We were on our way to Trenton, NJ and our trailer took us for a spin on the highway. We had a great gig last night and we were happy to finally get into the groove of things, unfortunately everything has come to a cold and dreadful stop. I was driving the van on our way to New Jersey when we suddenly skid across the road and nearly hit a wall. Unfortunately our fucking trailer flipped over and broke off the hinge!
As I was driving down the road the weather kept getting worse and worse. It was very difficult to see outside of our windows and the road was becoming one big sheet of ice. I could see the light from my headlights reflect off the pavement. I slowed down because I was afraid we would hydroplane. I was going about 40- 45 mph about two hours from the venue, listening to the song “Chase The Wind” by our friends band Holy Grail on my headphones, when suddenly I realized that our trailer was on a massive hydroplane completely adjacent to us. I kind of freaked out because I was afraid it would smash into the back of the van where Juan was sleeping. I laid off the gas and as soon as I did the trailer pulled the van and caused me to loose complete control. All I could say was “OH FUUUUCK!” I managed to narrowly miss the center divider and a few cars before we skid completely across the highway and almost hit the wall on the other side. We came to a stop about 3 feet from the wall!
It was a surreal experience to say the least. Something about listening to our buddy Luna (from Holy Grail) singing while we almost lost our lives just didn’t seem right. At least that is not how I would’ve expected to go. Everything happened so fast and my actions seemed automatic as if my instincts just kicked in and I did whatever it is I did behind the wheel without thinking about it. Im not superstitious but its kind of ironic that Mauro was listening to “Dying Season” by Heathen and the exit off the highway we took after all was said and done was named Moosic. Its like we exited music and in a way we did, for the night at least.
We will probably have to miss a few gigs until we can get back on our feet again and get some form of transportation for our gear. Our trailer is fucked beyond immediate repair. We will have to leave it behind and find something else to haul our stuff in. I just hope that our gear is fine and nothing was destroyed. I apologize to anyone that came to see us tonight or will come to see us tomorrow but our safety comes first. We have to get everything fixed and safe before we can go anywhere in this weather. We are extremely bummed that we will have to miss some gigs, this is DEFINITELY NOT OUR STYLE (To miss shows and disappoint our fans) but sometimes things get out of hand. Don’t worry guys, if we happen to miss your state due to this remember that our tour schedule is massive and we will be back in a few months! You guys should still go to the gigs and support Lazarus A.D. and the local acts that open up for them!
I would’ve been completely devastated if any of the guys got hurt tonight but thankfully we are all ok, hell were doing just fine! Alex is playing some video game on his PSP, Carlos is on the phone with some girl (I hope haha), Mauro is fucking around in the van and Juan is on his laptop like always! Everyone is in high spirits and in hopes that we can get on the road A.S.A.P! My team just won 2 nil and one of my favorite songs, Peace Sells But Who’s Buying, is playing on the Radio! Hahaha believe it or not Dee Snyder has his own radio station out here and here we are listening to it. Ahh its good to live to hear that song one more time!!!
Thanks for the well wishes guys, BBB will be back on the road in a little bit.
P.S. Fuck you snow, you can’t stop us!” View photos of the accident here:

‘The Architects of Guilt’ out next month on Solid State Records
TEXAS – North Texas technical death metal group, The Famine, has uploaded a video trailer to the Solid State Records YouTube channel, in anticipation of the band’s devastating sophomore effort, The Architects of Guilt. The album trailer, which features an audio sample of the track, “Ad Mortem”, can be seen online now:
The Architects of Guilt will hit stores on February 15th.
SWEDEN – Swedish melodic death metal titan, Arch Enemy, has posted a second studio update from Sweet Spot Studios in Sweden, as they continue to record the forthcoming full-length, Khaos Legions, with engineer, Rickard Bengtsson. Part two of the studio report shows bassist, Sharlee D’Angelo, scarifying his bleeding fingers for the sake of KHAOS.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the low end is firmly in place! After a long day of plowing through an absolutely massive array of bass guitars, different amps and cabs, and various other electronic gadgets, the choice finally fell on my white custom shop Ibanez Iceman run through an MXR Bass D.I.+ and an Aguilar Tonehammer into an Aguilar DB751 head and a DB810 cab, complimented by a Marshall VBC 412 cab, hidden behind a veritable forest of expensive microphones on serious looking mic stands. And the result? F**king awesome, people! Our engineer Rickard Bengtsson is an audio nerd with a rock’n’roll backbone who does not give up until he finds what he’s looking for – and thank f**k for that. Cause the songs on this album really need to be presented in the best way possible. Having laid down all the bass tracks now I just can’t wait for everybody to hear the album, and to play all these songs live for you all! But we’re not quite there yet, next up are blistering leads from the depths of hell…”
After releasing the Tyrants Of The Rising Sun – Live In Japan live DVD/CD (2008) and the re-recordings album, The Root Of All Evil (2009), Khaos Legions, the band’s ninth studio album, will mark a return to new, original material.
The new record is slated for a May 2011 release, courtesy of Century Media Records.
Arch Enemy has confirmed several summer dates and festivals in support of the forthcoming album.
