BISON b.c. will be touring in support of their most recent release Dark Ages, which just came out via Metal Blade Records on April 13 2010. Previous tours in support of Dark Ages have seen BISON b.c. out with bands such as High On Fire, Shadows Fall, Priestess, Kylessa, Baroness, 3 Inches of Blood, and just recently Helmet just to name a few. Since its release, Dark Ages has been met by praise from fans and critics alike. Here is what critics have been saying about the band’s third release and second for Metal Blade:
“Bison b.c. thinks as epic as prehistoric predecessor Mastodon, with Thin Lizzy corollaries and a hardcore fifth gear with vocals to match.” The Austin Chronicle
“colossal, large, big as it gets, massive… They delivered a level of volume and energy that started everybody off six beers deep.” Decibel Magazine
“Dark Ages is another strong outing from what is turning out to be a truly special band. More importantly for those in a constant pursuit of heaviness, Dark Ages is not the sound of the earth moving off its axis; it is the sound of Bison b.c. shoving it off with contemptuous rage.” Blabbermouth.net
NEW TOUR DATES:
10.12 Armstrong, BC @ The Branding Iron Pub
10.14 Saskatoon, SK @ Amigo’s
10.15 Brandon, MB @ Parthenon Pizza

Blood Stain Child, Japanese cyber-melodeath band with contemporary Japanese music culture influences, signs with Coroner Records for the release of its fifth album.
The album will be released in the spring of 2011, although the release date has not been confirmed yet. Ettore Rigotti (Disarmonia Mundi, Slowmotion Apocalypse, Destrage, Stigma) will take care of production, mix and mastering of the album in his “The Metal House” studios.
After the success of the previous album “Mozaiq”, mixed by Tue Madsen and released in Europe and America by Dockyard1/Locomotive and after some line-up problems, the band finally announces the new members: Greek vocalist Sophia and drummer GAMI (ex-Youthquake) had been added to the band.

Dimmu Borgir - Decibel Magazine’s November 2010 issue
Decibel Magazine’s November 2010 issue is available on newsstands now and features Norway’s symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR in a North American cover exclusive.
Metal journalist J. “Comrade” Bennett and celebrated band photographer Jon Pushnik traveled to Berlin, Germany in July to attend ABRAHADABRA’s exclusive listening party and be on-set while DIMMU BORGIR filmed the video for the “Gateways” single.
“DIMMU BORGIR pull a few rabbits out of their hat while putting the symphony into ‘symphonic black metal,’” reports Bennett. The feature addresses Aleister Crowley’s “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” code of ethics, includes “Conductor in Extremis” Gaute Storaas weighing in on the new album, discusses the long-standing relationships between guitarist Silenoz, frontman Shagrath, and guitarist Galder, and delves into the often strange permutations of Dimmumania.
Issue #73 can be ordered directly from The Decibel Store by clicking here.
ABRAHADABRA will be released in North America on October 12th. Fans who purchase a physical copy of the new album will find a coupon good for 2€ /$2 off any band merchandise redeemable at any upcoming DIMMU BORGIR show.
DIMMU BORGIR’s co-headlining tour with Korn launched on September 19th in Amsterdam. The band is currently headlining their “Darkness Reborn World Tour” in Europe with fellow countrymen Enslaved and Sahg as opening acts. Ticket links for European dates are available at www.myspace.com/DIMMUBORGIR.
DIMMU’s 32-date run across North America launches on Friday, November 5th in Worcester, Massachusetts and ends Tuesday, December 14th in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. SHADOWS FALL’s first visit to Manila, Philippines came when many bands weren’t performing in the city, but through the immense devotion of their fans, the band had a massive, unprecedented reception. In April 2009, the band made their triumphant return to the Philippines to headline the Pulp Summer Slam Festival in Manila for over 22,000 people! Madness in Manila chronicles this event, and includes over 60 minutes of live footage, pryo and all, and various little gems from their 2009 Far East tour. Bonus footage includes video from the Philippines show performance of ‘Redemption’ and ‘Venomous’, the Japan Club Citta show performance of ‘The Light That Blinds’, and the Korean show performance of ‘Thoughts Without Words’. Also included with the DVD is an audio CD of the performance!
“It took multiple cameras and killer audio mix to capture the explosive energy and maniacal crowd of the Pulp Summer Slam, and this DVD does just that,” states vocalist Brian Fair. “This was our first performance after completing the recording of Retribution, so we came out swinging with new songs, ready to attack the stage. The crowd of 22,000 in Manila gave us an overwhelming welcome and absolutely destroyed the place. Lots of metal, pyro and Red horse beer. It truly was Madness in Manila.”

Ahhh…The joys of Autumn. The leaves turn pretty shades of orange and brown, the weather is generally cooler this time of year and maggot ridden zombie corpses rise from their graves to crack the skulls of the living, ripping their spines from their flesh only to ultimately climax by sucking out their brains like a gelatinous milkshake for the undead. No day in October is more synonymous with these kind of timeless festivities than Halloween… or "All Hallow’s Eve" if you happen to be of British descent. You can expect to find marathon horror movie specials on all of your major television networks this time of year, but for those of more discerning taste, we thought we’d compile some Halloween chit-chat and feedback specific to those of the metal faith. We at Metal-Rules.com have put together a compilation video of some of metal’s biggest acts weighing in on every headbanger’s favorite holiday and if that weren’t enough we reached out via e-mail to an even broader panel of our bretheren of steel for a lengthy Halloween text roundup. It wouldn’t be A METAL HALLOWEEN without some Trick or Treat action, so make sure you enter our exclusive giveaway located towards the bottom of the page. From everyone at Metal-Rules.com, we wish you all a happy and bloodsoaked Halloween!

Guitar World Magazine today hosts the world premiere of the new video from Canada’s metal wizards DIVINITY. This is the first official video from the band’s recently released Candlelight Records debut The Singularity, and was shot for the song “Lay In The Bed You’ve Made.” The vibrant, explosive video was directed and filmed by fellow Calgarian and cinematographer Doug Cook, who also created DIVINITY’s “Plasma” video, from the band’s 2007 Allegory release. “The song is about taking responsibility at both a personal level and as a civilization; how the decisions we make have trapped us in certain ways and a limited number of people have controlled our fate almost arbitrarily in some aspects,” stated guitarist Sacha Laskow. “We went with director Doug Cook once again as he is intensely creative and professional. Working with Doug is always an awesome experience and he matched the visuals to the music perfectly. We wanted more of a performance-based video this time to showcase the playing aspect but still maintain some concept as well.” Stop by Guitar World’s website now to see the world premiere for “Lay In The Bed You’ve Made” here: http://www.guitarworld.com/divinity
DIVINITY recently embarked on their national Canadian Singulari-tour in support of The Singularity. Check out the remaining dates via their official Myspace page [http://www.myspace.com/divinitymetal] and stay tuned for DIVINITY tour updates and news on this talented, volatile act throughout the rest of the year and well into the future.

MetalSucks recently conducted an interview with legendary guitarist Kirk Windstein of CROWBAR, DOWN and KINGDOM OF SORROW. Windstein addressed the recent news surrounding his decision to drop off Kingdom of Sorrow’s Ozzfest stint in favor of treating his alcohol problem. He also explained the myriad delays that affected the upcoming Down DVD “Diary of a Madband,” which comes out tomorrow but was originally filmed in 2006, updated fans about the forthcoming new Crowbar album and commented on Crowbar’s legacy as a band that influences today’s young crop of metal bands.
On leaning on his bandmates for support and advice during the recovery process:
Yeah, totally. I’ve talked to Rex [Brown, Down bassist] about it because he’s dealt with a lot of problems himself. There’s not a person in any of my bands that hasn’t experienced it from time to time with the exception of Nicky and Charlie from Kingdom of Sorrow (the drummer and guitar player); they’ve never had a drink or tried a drug in their life. Everyone else in my bands, in Down and Jamey from Kingdom and the guys in Crowbar, have all at times had issues with stuff. Every person is different, and it’s a matter of keeping yourself healthy and not letting it get out of control. For me, it got out of control. Would I be a fool and a liar to sit here and say that I don’t think about it? It’s a normal thing to always think that you can control it. That’s what the battle of it is. It’s like “okay, I’m home. I’m detoxed. I get it. I’m in the right headspace. I’m physically and mentally in the right place and headed in the right direction.” It’s a matter of you realizing that you doing what you need to do is basically what it comes down to.
On a new Down album:
2011 I would say. Yeah. Something for sure. We’re not even there yet, so I think that’s totally feasible. Obviously not this year because it would have to be signed, sealed, delivered and done already. It’s not there by any means. It’s always going to happen and Down is always going to be there. So that’s a good thing.
On the progress of the upcoming Crowbar record:
As far as where we’re at with the recording of the record, I should be finishing guitars tonight. I’m going there with the intention of them being finished on the 12 tracks. There is one mellow, instrumental segue piece that I’ll probably finish up maybe this weekend. I started vocals and have a lot of lyrics written already. There is one more thing to be done on bass. The drums have been complete [for a while]. So we’re really moving along well. It’s just a matter of finishing everything up. Zeuss is going to mix it for us. He mixed the last Kingdom and also tracked and mixed the first Kingdom. He’s done quite a bit of stuff for Hatebreed and a lot of other bands. I’m looking forward to getting it out and getting on the road. With that said, with the new Crowbar record we’re also going to have a 10 song live CD with 2 unreleased studio bonus tracks — brand new bonus stuff that’ll be released through Housecore which is Phil’s label. There are some re-releases in the back coming out through him as well. So I’m looking forward to that too. There’s a lot going on with Crowbar right now, which is good. I like to keep all three bands busy, man.
On the sound of the new Crowbar record:
Basically, just Crowbar in the year 2010 is basically what it is. It encompasses every influence and every style that Crowbar has ever done through the course of the previous 8 studio records – over the course of the last 20 years. Some of the stuff sounds very similar to our very early stuff and some of it is stuff that we’ve never done before. It’s just Crowbar. It’s heavy. It’s aggressive. It’s dark. It’s fast at times. It’s very melodic and super doom metal at times. It’s a real thunderous collection of tunes. I’m very excited about it.

Houston, TX based progressive-instrumetalists, SCALE THE SUMMIT have entered Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, FL with producer Mark Lewis (Devildriver, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder). The band is recording the follow up to their 2009 Prosthetic Records’ debut, “Carving Desert Canyons.”
Guitarist Chris Letchford commented; “We have been home writing for quite some time now and I’m excited to say that we just made it to Orlando this morning to start work on our next record with with Mark Lewis. I have been a fan of the production work that he has been doing for many years now. I love the ‘hugeness’ of the recordings he does and I felt that is what was missing from our last record. We’re all really excited to be working with Mark on this one. We have been working out a lot of new dynamic ideas for this new record and I know he is the guy to really help us capture all of it. We’ll be doing 12 songs this time, all of which are really a step up from our latest album. I can’t wait to get these songs finished and released for everyone to hear.”
SCALE THE SUMMIT formed in 2005 while attending the Musicians’ Institute in Los Angeles. The band relocated to Houston, TX in 2006 and recorded their first, self released album. They released “Carving Desert Canyons”, which Revolver called, “”a cinematic blast of intricately melodic fretwork and pummeling percussion” last year.
The band, who received praise from Guitar World for their “tightly-woven guitar interplay, irregular time signatures and tasteful licks,” has toured with the likes of PROTEST THE HERO, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, CYNIC, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and were handpicked by DREAM THEATER to participate in the 2009 installment of their famed “Progressive Nation” festival tour. SCALE THE SUMMIT has been featured prominently in Guitar Player and Revolver magazines, and have tracks available for the Rock Band video game through the Rock Band Network.

Edu Falaschi (Angra, Almah) produces the debut album of Artemis: the band reveals a few details of this collaboration in the interview for the fan-club of the singer
Along with his activities as a frontman of Angra which is back on track with its 7th studio album Aqua recently released by SPV, Edu Falaschi continues his career as a producer. Having established his name producing the own bands Symbols (Symbols – 1998, Call to the End – 2000) and Almah (Almah -2006, Fragile Equality – 2008), now he works with other promising names of Brazilian metal scene such as Artemis, Still Alive and Angels Holocaust. Edu joined Artemis from Brasília in the second half of 2009 at the pre-production stage, and now the whole work at the album is almost finished, – as it has been recently reported by the Artemis musicians in the interview for “Edu Falaschi European Fan Club”. In the interview the drummer Pedro Senna and the guitarist Nathan Grego tell about various details of the new album, the history of Artemis and its influences, the new singer Alírio Netto, upcoming single and, of course, about the collaboration with the producer Edu Falaschi.
A few parts of the interview: Pedro Senna: I met Edu a few years ago, because I was always a big fan of Angra and I have always been present at shows and backstage, we were not friends yet, but we already had some contact. When Almah released “Fragile Equality” I was sure that he was the right guy to produce our album. Our press office was the same (MS Metal Press) and I asked Edu Macedo to contact him and then we started talking about the project. It was a hard time to Artemis, we had line-up and sound changes.
Edu Falaschi European Fan Club: Could you explain how do you work together, the band and Edu Falaschi?
Pedro Senna: When we started working on the album, we still didn’t have any song prepared for the fact that the band has started again, so we came up with little ideas of riffs and melodies, and he was directing us to these ideas to turn their song with all parts. They all got through enough changes over the time, so we decided to do more than one year of pre-production, so that the songs were cut and mature enough to enter the studio and record them.
Edu Falaschi European Fan Club: Have you got some stress due to the celebrity and experience of your producer?
Pedro Senna: Work with Edu always been easy, the only problem was change some dates due to numerous commitments that he had, but it was easy to solve too.
Edu Falaschi European Fan Club: I’d like to know what do you learn with Edu Falaschi as a producer … I’m sure it’s very rewarding to work with an experimented and awesome musician and producer as him! Pedro Senna: This was another factor that led us to want to work with him, we learned a lot of things, like how to think in a composition, or how to work with a band in a professional level. We’ve gained much experience with this album and I’m sure the next will be even better because of this and other experiences that we acquire over time.
Nathan Grego: Work with Edu is a great learning experience for me, I could spend time discussing and learning about composition, part of songs, what works and what does not work and styles. As composer of the band I had much contact with Edu and I believe that the ideas he added in the compositions have become crucial for the identity of each one. The complete interview with Artemis by Sylvie Catez (Edu Falaschi European Fan Club/ Edu Falaschi France) you can find here http://edufalaschifrenchblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/artemis-tells-about-his-work-with-edu.html Edu Falaschi started his career as a producer in 1998 with his band Symbols. He also produced both Almah albums, “Almah” (2006/2007) and “Fragile Equality” (2008, together with his band mate Felipe Andreoli). Falaschi together with the other band members of Angra produced the recent CD of the band “Aqua” (2010). Currently Eduardo is finishing the debut albums of two Brazilian bands Artemis and Still Alive and a new EP of Angels Holocaust as a producer. More about Edu Falaschi Producer:
