Chris Barnes - Six Feet Under

The king of Death Metal, CHRIS BARNES, has just released the following statement to SIX FEET UNDER fans in regard to the recent lineup changes in the band:

To the loyal fans of Six Feet Under –

Our long time friends and band mates, Terry Butler (bass) and Greg Gall (drums), have decided to move on and depart from SFU. Steve Swanson (guitar) and I are grateful for all the fun times we’ve shared together through the years, and wish them the best of luck in their musical endeavors.

Just to fill you all in, Steve and I are very excited about the future of the SFU. I have been working hard on writing the new SFU material for the past 4 months with a new writing partner. More updates on that later…

I will make this guarantee and promise to all the fans of Six Feet Under; the new lineup will be a DEATH METAL force to be dealt with, with the long awaited addition of a brutal as fuck drummer and riffs that will rip your face off, vocals ala 1993-1995…

Thank you all for your continued support and devotion, see you soon!

HOUR OF PENANCE sign to Prosthetic Records Band announces European tour with DEICIDE

February 1st, 2011
by EvilG

Prosthetic Records is pleased to announce the signing of Italian death metal leaders HOUR OF PENANCE to the label.

Forged in the dark shadows of “The Holy Capital”, this most unholy of quartets have steadily been making a name for themselves as one of the most intense, talented and impressive, both in the studio & live onstage, modern death metal bands around. And to hear the evidence, you just need to blast last year’s ‘Paradogma’ album on Unique Leader and you will know exactly what we mean.

Currently writing their Prosthetic debut , HOUR OF PENANCE will again spread their plague of destruction across the clubs and festivals of Europe as part of a major tour throughout June and July with DEICIDE, BELPHEGOR and THE AMENTA (See tour dates below).

In the meantime, HOUR OF PENANCE commented on the signing, “This is a very important opportunity for Hour of Penance and a big reward for almost 10 years of activity of this band. We’re very proud to be part of the Prosthetic records family and we’re eager to start working with such a great label. A new label, a new line up and of course a new album which is obviously in the works and will be recorded soon… expect a new HOUR OF PENANCE album this year and of course be prepared! We will tour as much as we can in 2011!”

Unleashing a likely tour de force in maniacal death metal brutality, a celebration of music in it’s darkest and most inhuman form and with a brand new worldwide signing to Prosthetic Records, HOUR OF PENANCE have ascended to an even greater height of precision and savagery. Every population has its cancer, every movement its enemies. Be the wolf amongst the flock. Embrace the barbarity!

Lamb of God’s Chris Adler and Mapex Drums Announce “A Throne with a View” Tour

New Book Published
The Making of New American Gospel, Drum Tablature,
Short Stories and Reflections

Written by Chris Adler

New Website is Live Now!

LAMB OF GOD’s CHRIS ADLER is pleased to announce his upcoming Mapex Drum tour, “A Throne with a View” which will take him through the country this winter, beginning February 28th and ending on March 16th, 2011. ADLER appeared at the prestigious Modern Drummer Festival in 2005 and performed a “Battle” clinic tour with his brother Willie Adler across Europe in 2008. “A Throne with a View” will be his first and only U.S. clinic tour in 2011.

ADLER’s limited appearances are different from many drum clinics. “My goal is to share my experiences on and off my drum kit through interaction with those in attendance. Of course, I will be playing and giving tips, but I will be far more focused on the story that got me where I am than the notion of impressing anyone,” comments ADLER. He adds, “I’ve found that most fans and young players want to know how I got to where I am, not the tech specs.”

See below for all current clinic tour dates, and watch an example of one of ADLER’s aforementioned drum clinics here. The tour is sponsored by MAPEX DRUMS, AQUARIAN, PRO MARK, GIBRALTAR, MEINL, and ZOOM (SAMSON).

On this tour, ADLER will be playing on Mapex’s newly released Black Panther “Blaster” drum set. Mapex introduced the Black Panther Drum Collection in January at the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA and this will be the first opportunity for many fans to see and hear it. The Blaster kit features a unique maple and walnut shell design and is the first in a series of new drum sets based on Mapex’s popular series of Black Panther Snare Drums.

CHRIS ADLER is also pleased to announce the release of a comprehensive behind the scenes narrative book, detailing the early days of the band through the writing and recording of the LAMB OF GOD album, New American Gospel. This is the first and only book chronicling the history of the making of this classic album. Known for not pulling any punches, ADLER tells the real story, warts and all.

Over 100 oversized pages personally written by CHRIS ADLER, the book also includes drum tablature, transcribed and verified by ADLER himself. Along with refreshingly accurate drum tabs per song, ADLER precedes each song on the album with pages of written detail on how and why New American Gospel came to be, and his view of how it worked, or didn’t, in the band’s live set. As many players know, many tablature books contain incorrect information due to publishers not verifying with the artists. By self-publishing, writing and transcribing, ADLER has made sure that the common mistakes do not exist. The tablatures are all transcribed and verified by master technician Travis Orbin ( and ADLER himself, and are designed to provide accurate insight into the drumming on the album as well as a convenient learning and teaching tool to teachers and drummers alike. The production of the book is completely self-financed, written (no ghost writers), and published by ADLER to have total product quality control.

The book is a must-have for any fans of LAMB OF GOD or ADLER’s drumming, as well as fans looking for ‘fly-on-the-wall’ access to how and why critical choices and decisions were made in the process of creating New American Gospel. Throughout the narrative, ADLER speaks frankly of his drumming, the successes, the failures, and obstacles that ultimately led to him contemplating leaving the band years ago. To purchase the book, head to this link, or

Fans should be sure to head to CHRIS ADLER’s brand new website,, to catch up on first-hand information, endorsements, and appearances. The site also includes a small store of exclusive items used by ADLER and special giveaways throughout the year.

Set to Release New Full-Length Album, Heaven Sent, Hellbound, This Spring

New EP Bleed the Line hits #11 on the CMJ Loud Rock Charts!

Internationally established thrash metal band INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND and have just posted a free download ‘God Loves Violence’, the new single cut from the band’s current EP Bleed the Line, and also from their upcoming full-length, Heaven Sent, Hellbound. The track is produced by Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, In Flames, Opeth). Head to this link to download the track now!

INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND recently announced their signing with UK record label Rising Records. The band will be releasing a new full-length album later this spring with the label, entitled Heaven Sent, Hellbound. The release is being produced by world-famous record producer Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, In Flames, Opeth), and the artwork is illustrated by famous artist Sam Shearon (Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Fear Factory).

In it’s first week, INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND’s new EP Bleed the Line debuted at #4 Most Added on the CMJ Loud Rock charts. The EP entered the charts at #12 and is currently on the cusp of the top 10 at #11. The EP is currently spinning at many college and commercial radio stations nationwide.

Bleed the Line EP is available now in digital format. Fans can download the record at iTunes and now. The Bleed the Line EP was written, recorded and produced by the band between the spring and summer of 2010, aside from the single ‘God Loves Violence’, which was cut by seasoned producer Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, In Flames, Opeth). The Bleed the Line EP is released on the band’s label, M90 Records, and is the first music that the band has released in 20 years. The artwork for the Bleed the Line EP was illustrated by Dennis Guevera.

EP tracklisting:

1- God Loves Violence (Fredrik Nordström mix)
2- Bleed the Line
3- Rain (feat. Ron Thal of Guns N’ Roses)
4- Full Metal Jacket
5- If I Were President
6- Fueled By Regret recently posted the brand new music video for the single ‘God Loves Violence’. Head to this link to view the new video. An original music video depicting scenes of violence and war was posted on YouTube several months ago, but after receiving over 100,000 views in under two weeks, the video was banned. This new video was filmed by New York City based filmmaker Justin Johnson. Justin is known for his popular short political satire, Hillary in Bosnia, which has over 2.4 million views, and was featured on Fox News and other TV outlets.

In a recent interview with Metal Sanaz, guitarist Erik Barath mentions more upcoming plans for the band. “We will shoot another video in April and planning to tour the UK in the summer and hopefully other parts of Europe as well. We want to play the US end of summer, start of fall but things change all the time and we may tour sooner.”

Through humble beginnings in Connecticut, INDESTRUCTIBLE NOISE COMMAND exceeded their own expectations and the expectations of others with two successful full-length Giant Records releases, Razorback (1987) and The Visitor (1988). Giant Records signed I.N.C. after witnessing the band’s crushing live performances with the likes of Exodus, Megadeth and King Diamond; all of which taking place only six months after they had graduated high school. In 1988 with The Visitor, the band hit #1 on the CMJ Metal charts and stole the U.K. #2 Import slot out from underneath Aerosmith. Now based in New York City, the band is back with their Bleed the Line EP and Heaven Sent, Hellbound. I.N.C. is an original pioneer of the thrash metal scene, resurrected in order to take back a genre recently flooded with neo-thrash carbon copies. Revived and back with a vengeance, I.N.C. is ready to prove ownership of the scene in 2011.

Erik Barath – Guitar

Tony Fabrizi – Guitar

Dennis Gergely – Vocals

Dennis Leeflang – Drums

Samuel J. Roon – Bass

“The first time HAMMERFALL was here [in Nashville],” writes scribe Mark Groman, “eleven years ago, it was for the recording of [2000’s] Renegade at Michael Wagner’s studio, adjacent to ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann’s farm. Instead of a classic metal tunesmith, the Hammers have opted for a contemporary, some might say cutting edge, producer, in SIXX: A.M. singer James Michael (PAPA ROACH, TRAPT, SALIVA) . . . [T]he band recorded 11:30 am – 3 pm daily, allowing Michael to do his magic throughout the night. He was still tinkering, dialing in sounds during our playback. The producer felt many of the lyrics stand on their own, as poetry, and opted for a “guerilla attitude, a spontaneity to just go for it,” with the vocals. Cans, for one, was ecstatic with the results.”

In this world exclusive in-studio feature, vocalist Joacim Cans states: “I don’t know exactly where the idea to use James came from, but I’m so into Sixx: A.M.  Then I found out he’s not only the singer, but the songwriter and producer [of the band].  I envisioned this album in a certain way and wondered what a guy like James could do with HAMMERFALL. We have our sound, our songs… what could he do with a heavy metal album to make it modern, without losing the soul?  I wanted to open up HAMMERFALL, make it a bit more interesting. We’ve been working with (producer) Charlie Bauerfeind since 2002. I wanted to make a different record, one that sounds different to everything else (in our catalog).”

Groman gives a track-by-track breakdown of songs that will appear on the new album, with commentaries throughout by the band members.  Read the exclusive online report here.

The next two in-studio chats with HAMMERFALL members are as follows:

  • Guitarist Oscar Dronjak this Thursday, February 3rd at 9 a.m. PACIFIC / 12 p.m. EASTERN / 6 p.m. (18:00) CET.
  • Drummer Anders Johansson this Saturday, February 5th at 8:30 a.m. PACIFIC / 11:30 a.m. EASTERN / 5:30 p.m. (17:30) CET.

HAMMERFALL continue to work on the recording of their new album with producer James Michael (Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, SIXX:AM, Meat Loaf).  The as-yet-untitled new release is the follow-up to 2009’s No Sacrifice, No Victory (which debuted at #38 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart) and will be available in Europe on May 20th.  A summer release date in North America is expected.

View the band’s latest video blog installment, “Zombified,” here.

No Sacrifice, No Victory achieved gold status in Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies.  The album registered the following first-week chart positions in Europe: #2 in Sweden, #7 in Germany, #20 in Switzerland, #21 in the U.K. (Indie Albums chart), #25 in Austria, #46 in Norway, and #95 in France.

Oscar Dronjak, guitarist for the Swedish heavy metal band HAMMERFALL, is a maniac for music, but ask him what he dedicates most of his time to outside of recording new albums & touring and the response is both quick & passionate: mixed martial arts, and the UFC, in particular.

When it comes to having knowledge about the latest news or controversies in the world’s fastest growing sport, Dronjak is the MMA go-to guy in the metal world.  “[T]he first UFC event I watched was Ultimate Ultimate 1996.  That was all it took; I was instantly hooked to the beautiful combination of violence and technique,” he confesses.

In the first installment of his weekly blog, Dronjak discusses his jump from being a pro-wresting fan to his introduction to the MMA world, censorship in Sweden, and how the metal underground wasn’t the only scene with a tape-trading community.  Read the full blog here.

Having teamed up with producer James Michael (Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, SIXX:AM, Meat Loaf), HAMMERFALL are currently finishing up the recording of their new album, which is the follow-up to 2009’s No Sacrifice, No Victory (which debuted at #38 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart).  The as-yet-untitled new release will be available in Europe on May 20th.  A summer release date in North America is expected.

Italian progressive metal band Twinspirits return with their third album “Legacy” on 18th February 2011. “Legacy” takes all the best aspects of the bands previous two releases and adds a heavier dynamic and more cohesive sound thanks to a fixed line-up, the same that delivered the highly praised “The Forbidden City” and spent time on the road promoting that release.

“Legacy” marks the second album of vocalist Göran Nyström in the band, and his voice delivers another commanding performance over the material penned by band mastermind and keyboardist Daniele Liverani. Guitarist Tommy Ermolli takes a heavier role this time round whilst the rhythm section of bassist Alberto Rigoni and drummer Dario Ciccioni hold down the complex patterns with precision.

“Legacy” is divided in 2 main parts. In the first part we have 6 powerful straight ahead songs, still being progressive in nature and with a more direct feel to them than has been heard from the band before. The second part of the album is a multi suite movement, “The Endless Sleep”, divided in 5 songs (symphonic intro + 4 songs) that is more like an album within an album being very theatrical and visionary.

On the albums lyrical slant Liverani comments, “Lyrically the first 6 songs are independent to the suite, and are cover subject, including personal experiences, thoughts about life in this era, and different kind of reflections of human beings into this modern world we are living in”.

“The second part, the suite, is covering a concept story that runs through a journey that the main character is undertaking after a premature death, whereby he’s discovering a role that he’s involved in after he passes away, and the meeting with a superior entity that is giving him a sort of second chance to get back to the human life to accomplish a human rescue mission as a second millennium messiah…a very struggling story that will be revealed part by part of “the endless sleep” 30 min. suite. The key points of the concept are in part “I’m leaving this world” where the main character describes the moment he passes away and his extra body experience, the song “Legacy” where we have the relationship between him and the superior entity that is explaining his new role in the afterlife, the songs “what am I supposed to do” is a very moving moment where he meets his parents while he’s back to human life temporary, and the final part “tell me the truth” continues the description of the relationship of the main character with his afterlife guide mentor”.

Twinspirits will be getting back on the road in spring 2011 promoting the new album with a tour and some European festival appearances.

A promotional video for ”Slave To This World” was released in January 2011 and has won strong praise from the bands fan base and beyond.

Canadian power metallers Borealis

Canadian power metallers Borealis

Lion Music are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian power metallers Borealis who will release their new album “Fall From Grace” on May 20th 2011.

With soaring vocals, lightning fast guitars and a rock solid backline, Borealis is bringing leather back, and dragging power metal up with it. It’s been that way from the start for these Canadian guys: all or nothing, and it shows in their music.

Musically Borealis leans towards the classic power metal sound, not too far removed from bands such as Evergrey or even Savatage in their prime, but also the more progressive bands like Vanden Plas or Dream Theater springs to mind here and there. It’s all about energy, aggression, melodies and finesse – and Borealis has it all in spades.

With an independently released debut safely in the bag, the band took it upon themselves to give ProgPower USA one heck of a kick-start when they visited the world famous festival in September of 2010, and with a 45 minute set comprised of songs from both the upcoming disc “Fall From Grace” as well as the debut made sure all 1100 people in attendance would leave with a positive memory of Borealis.

Their forthcoming offering “Fall From Grace” is sure to see the buzz generated by the bands performance at ProgPower USA reach a larger audience worldwide on May 20th 2011.

Full release information to follow shortly.

No Gravity are a new progressive metal band from guitarist Simone Fiorletta (Moonlight Comedy / solo) who see the release of their debut album “Worlds In Collision” on Lion Music on March 18th 2011.
