MICHAEL MONROE, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, über-energetic frontman and iconic rock ‘n’ roll legend, has premiered the new video for “Stained Glass Heart” on GUITARWORLD.com “Stained Glass Heart” marks the third single from his new studio album HORNS AND HALOS, out now on Spinefarm Records.
“I’m feeling quite excited about our new ‘Stained Glass Heart’ video,” explains MICHAEL MONROE. “It was shot in Helsinki at an amusement park on a perfectly grey and rainy day which made it look more like an ‘abusement park.’ The video turned out very cool and classy.”

On the live front, MICHAEL MONROE has revealed plans for an extensive world tour. After a three-date trek in Japan, a headlining U.K. tour will begin November 27 in Newcastle and the group will also appear at this year’s Hard Rock Hell festival on November 30 in North Wales. Following the U.K. run, the group will perform three shows in their home country of Finland. MICHAEL adds, “Now that the new album is out, we can finally play the new songs live and create a whole new set-list. That’s why I’m especially excited about the up and coming tour dates. See you all soon down the road!” Expect more dates and countries to be announced soon.
HORNS AND HALOS is the follow-up to the 2011 critically acclaimed Sensory Overdrive, winner of Classic Rock Magazine’s “Album Of The Year” and a No. 1 record in MONROE’s Finnish homeland. It is a cosmopolitan affair, mixed by Petri Majuri at Seawolf Studios in Finland and written and recorded around the world by MONROE’s international posse–bassist SAMI YAFFA (Hanoi Rocks, New York dolls), guitarist STEVE CONTE (New York Dolls, Company Of Wolves), drummer KARL “Rockfist” ROSQVIST (Chelsea Smiles, Danzig) and Swedish guitar star DREGEN (Backyard Babies). MONROE is a frontman whose reputation is genuinely global and whose influence continues to be felt, with musicians of all ages (from Dave Grohl to the original Guns N’ Roses members) citing his groundbreaking career as a source of inspiration.
The album’s first single released earlier this spring, “Ballad Of The Lower East Side,” is a nod to MICHAEL’s early days in New York, a city he moved to for a decade following the mid-’80s breakup of glam-punk pioneers Hanoi Rocks (for which he was the frontman). It also appears on HORNS AND HALOS. Watch the video for “Ballad Of The Lower East Side” at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhAbtZXu2RU

The concrete confines of the Big Four building in Calgary Alta., are not the ideal choice for a concert venue – especially for legends like Slayer, a band you would want to hear no matter where you are standing in a venue. However, on November 3, 2013 over 2,500 fans came out to see Slayer deliver an old school set on their first North American tour since the passing of Jeff Hanneman in May this year. French heavy hitters Gojira and Australia’s 4Arm were support for the tour.

For Those About To Rot: Wednesday 13 at the Whisky A Go Go October 24th 2013
It was a real ghouls’ night out on October 24th, with a fright-filled bill of bands! If anyone wasn’t already in the spirit of Halloween, they certainly were after the show. (I was already feelin’ said spooky spirit, but to be fair, I’m a bit of a Halloween-junkie).

Veteran Canadian death metallers Kataklysm enter their third decade with a bruising, brand new 11th studio album, Waiting For The End To Come, and a pretty good head of steam that has been gathering slowly over the last few years. The band’s last album, 2010′s Heaven’s Venom, managed to crack the Billboard 200 for the first time, sneaking on at #196, and Kataklysm marked the first two decades of their career in 2012 with the aptly titled live/documentary CD/DVD Iron Will: 20 Years Determined. 2009 also saw the emergence of Ex Deo, a Gladiator-meets-death metal side project of Maurizio Iacono’s that blossomed into a full-blown band incorporating the rest of Kataklysm – guitarist Jean-François (JF) Dagenais, bassist Stephane Barbe and drummer Max Duhamel – and garnered a surprising amount of attention with their debut Romulus, which carried over to the follow-up Caligula in 2012.
Despite a recent bump in the road when Duhamel took leave of both bands to battle his alcoholism, Kataklysm barely missed a beat – so to speak – by hiring on Oli Beaudoin, who had performed a few shows in Duhamel’s stead in the past. Beaudoin was behind the kit for Waiting For The End To Come and most likely will stay there as the band tours on its behalf into the new year. During a recent phone interview, Dagenais offered his thoughts on the past, present and future of both Kataklysm and Ex Deo, the situation with Duhamel (who had left the band on two other occasions, for several-year periods), and what happens when “Northern Hyperblast” meets Southern hospitality.
In recent month’s most of the talk about Slayer has been about what the future, after their current tour, may hold. We still don’t know exactly what that will be as the two remaining original band members (bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King) both need to sit and talk about the future. In a new interview with Houston Press, Tom Araya said “I have my feelings and my thoughts, and I need to share them with Kerry. That’s what’s going to happen on this trip. We need to sit down and figure out what we want to do and how to move forward.”
He further elaborated on the future with: “I don’t think Slayer will ever end because our music is going to live forever. Our music will always be accessible to anybody that wants to hear it. When you talk about it like that, I think we’ll be around for a really long time.”
Norwegian black metal masters SATYRICON have debuted their live performance video for the track “Phoenix” featuring guest vocalist Sivert Høyem of MADRUGADA.
Shot at the Den Norske Opera & Ballett in Oslo, Norway on September 8th as part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, SATYRICON was joined on-stage by the 55 members of the Norwegian National Opera Chorus.
“Phoenix” comes from SATYRICON’s self-titled eighth studio album, which debutedat #12 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and #30 on the Hard Music chart in September. Other world chart entries include: #1 – Norway; #6 – Finland; #23 – Germany; and #26 – Australia.
Rumours about this have run rampant the last few days, but now it is finally 100% confirmed: one of the biggest hard rock bands ever, and without question the most influential one, has been confirmed for Sweden Rock Festival – Black Sabbath!
Few are the subgenres of hard rock that don’t derive from Black Sabbath. The Birmingham behemoths changed the map of hard music for ever. Tony Iommi’s detuned, ultra-heavy riffs, Geezer Butler’s distorted, pulsating basslines, Bill Ward’s explosive drumming, Ozzy Osbourne’s unique, wailing vocals… The combination was totally unprecedented. In 1970-78 this lineup released eight albums, filled with dark and at times controversial classics. “Black sabbath”, “Paranoid”, “Iron man”, “Children of the grave” and many more.
After the original band broke up, Black Sabbath still kept creating stellar music, fronted by such legendary singers as Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes and Tony Martin. Still, the fans were obviously excited beyond belief when the classic line-up eventually reunited. And finally, in 2013, their comeback album “13″ was released. The success actually surpassed everybody’s expectations – and at this point in time, we announce Black Sabbath as one of the main attractions of SRF 2014. Which will also be the only Swedish appearance that year for Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and drummer Tommy Clufetos.
Sweden Rock Festival will be held in Sölvesborg, southern Sweden, June 4-7 2014. Among the other acts announced so far are Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, W.A.S.P, Emperor, Magnum, Uriah Heep, Arch Enemy, Transatlantic and Monster Magnet. In total, 84 bands will be performing on 5 stages over 4 days.
“The Metal Voice” spoke to former Iron Maiden Singer Blaze Bayley, who flew to Montreal Canada for a one off gig as special guest to help out the local band “Some of the Few” CD launch.
In the video interview Bayley also explains to The Metal Voice about the possibility of doing a concept album in 2015; His opinion on Paul Di’anno. As as his plans on touring behind Blaze’s new greatest hits release “Soundtracks of my life.”

London, UK: The ‘Gentlemen of Death Metal’ have re-entered London’s Berry Street Studio throughout October / November to record the companion piece to 2012’s ‘corpseflower’ EP alongside confirming a UK tour in February 2014 as main support for Netherlands avant-garde death metallers The Monolith Deathcult.
Clocking in at around thirty minutes of total running time, the ‘asylum’ mini- album presents five entirely original tracks penned by the band following the one-off broadcast of an acoustic track written especially by them for ‘The Dark. Outside.’ – an event held at Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park in Scotland by guerrilla music promoter Stuart Mclean. Having written & recorded their first entirely acoustic song, talanas then decided to develop a separate release solely for the format itself.
Handling production duties themselves, the quartet continue to use their seven string bass & guitars and their full custom Mapex drumkit (still the largest single kit made for an endorsee by Mapex UK) throughout the release, which will be made available in early December through Eulogy Media.
