TED POLEY has released the first video from “Beyond the Fade” for the song “Higher.”
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce the release of TED POLEY’s new solo album “Beyond The Fade” on May 13th, 2016.
Best known as lead vocalist for the legendary Melodic Rock masters Danger Danger, TED POLEY is also an accomplished solo artist, having released two acclaimed releases, “Collateral Damage” (2006) and “Smile”(2007).
“Beyond The Fade” is available for pre-order on Amazon and on iTunes. Digital pre-orders include an instant grat track download of “Higher”.
The story of “Beyond The Fade” starts after Danger Danger’s acclaimed performance at Frontiers Rock Festival in Milano in 2014, when he and the label developed the idea to work together on some new music. The next step was to speak to producer Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge of Forever) and with a band that he put together, TED performed at the second edition of the Frontiers Rock Festival. A few months later, TED came back to Italy to finish the vocals on the album.
TED says: “I am absolutely thrilled with the way the whole album came out. If I have one quote: “ITS AWESOME!” My great friend and co-producer Alessandro Del Vecchio brought my sonic vision to life and no request from me was too great for him toward his goal of making “The Ultimate TED POLEY Solo Album” and he surely delivered on his promise. We had alot of fun making the album and its obvious when you hear it. You can practically hear my smile while I am singing. We decided to make it sound BIG and there are a ton of backing vocals (in some cases more than 80 tracks of them!), along with great songs, soaring melodic guitar leads, pounding bass and big drums, all layered with cool keyboards… like a delicious Musical Cake! Save some room for dessert, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE!”
With songs penned by the brothers Tom and James Martin (VEGA ) and “Hands of Love” written by Tony Bruno/Joe Lynn Turner Official Page , the sound of the record is nothing else but TED POLEY at his best, with immediately recognizable hooklines, amazing guitar work, immaculate production and total 80’s attitude!
“Beyond the Fade” is sure to please not only TED POLEY’s fans, but all fans of melodic hard rock. Don’t miss this superb release.

at GEC in Calgary, Alberta
March 6th, 2016

Sunday, March 6th was a semi-historical occasion in the Calgary Metal scene. It was the first time that a Metal concert was hosted in the Grey Eagle Casino, a beautiful new venue in Calgary. Sure Queensrcyhe had played the GEC a couple months before but the small seated crowd of 500 older fans but that gig was almost a warm-up for the crowd and style of show as the sold out Megadeth tour. There were so many unanswered questions…would the layout be seats or standing area? Would it be loud enough? How would the line-up’s be? Could security handle the crowd? And most importantly…would there be enough beer?! I’m pleased to say the GEC met all expectations as it was a great, safe show and it seemed that all the 2700 or so people had a great time.
It is not too often that the 2500+ capacity MacEwan Hall gets completely sold out for Metal shows, but Slayer, who have performed at this same venue a few times before, managed to do just that on their most recent stop in Calgary, Alta. Slayer is riding high on what many people are saying is their best album in years (REPENTLESS [Nuclear Blast, 2015]) and the legions of Metal were out in force! Managing crowds and traffic flow is a complicated endeavor at the best of times and it was a bit of a struggle on Monday night.
A rather cold night at hand, two of the world’s greatest themed metal bands are about to play one of England’s iconic venues. It is pretty evident how everyone around me feels about the moment and the tour, non-stop talking about how amazing it is too see such a massive line up.
The last time I saw Alestorm play was in a very tiny venue in the south-west of Germany, it’s going to be very interesting to see how they cope with such a large venue. As for Sabaton, I haven’t myself ever seen them before, but I have heard nothing but good words.

HELLOWEEN – Guitarist Sascha Gerstner
INTERVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJALA
Helloween is a German metal band founded in 1984 in Hamburg. The band is one of the pioneers of power metal and their albums KEEPER OF THE SEVEN KEYS I & II and THE TIME OF THE OATH are considered masterpieces of the genre. Throughout the years, the band has gone through numerous changes, but the current line-up of vocalist Andi Deris, guitarists Michael Weikath and Sascha Gerstner, bassist Markus Grosskopf and drummer Daniel Löble has been stable since 2005. The band started their ongoing MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT world tour in June 2015, and now the circus mad a stop in Finland in February.
During the years I’ve interviewed almost all current and former members of Helloween but for one reason or another I’ve always missed Sascha Gerstner. Fortunately, things now changed as I finally met with a good-humored Sascha at the hotel prior the show. Among many topics, we discussed about his long career with Helloween and…. many other things in general. Sascha turned out to be really genial and humorous person. I’m sure that some metal fans will find it surprising when they read about his musical influences and how his relationship was with Helloween and with the whole metal genre before joining the band. Read on!
U.S. thrash metal legends Flotsam and Jetsam have inked a worldwide deal with AFM Records. The band’s new album, simply titled “Flotsam and Jetsam” will be released on May 20th.
Timo Hoffmann (AFM Records A&R): „We’re honored that Flotsam and Jetsam have decided to join our roster. Of course we’ve followed their career for many years and always valued the band’s qualities. This new, self-titled album is a blast! We’ve been convinced right from the very first demos sent. It was obvious to us why the album is titled as it is: „Flotsam and Jetsam“ holds the essence of what defines the band – this album is a statement, something to be proud of. And we are proud to start working with the band with such a special release“.
The band states: “Flotsam and Jetsam really appreciated the fact that AFM laid out a legitimate, business plan for us when they made their offer to sign us. We believe they are as committed to us as a band, as we are to providing them with quality metal to get behind and promote. Along with signing to a new label, all the forward movement for the band in the last two years has also allowed us to partner with new team members; like Chris Collier of CMC21 Productions, who just completed the mixing and mastering of the album and Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art out of the UK, for the album cover and stage production art, who are both doing a phenomenal job for us. We’re looking forward to playing the music on this album live, which hasn’t been a luxury for the band on past releases, as well as debuting our new stage look”.
Demonic Resurrection frontman Demonstealer, who recently announced the release of his 2nd solo album ‘This Burden Of Mine’ featuringGeorge Kollias on drums, has released a new single from the album. A video has been released for the song ‘When The Hope Withers And Dies‘ which also features a guest solo from DR axe-man Nishith Hegde and Ashwin Shriyan (also DR) on bass.
Demonstealer commented ‘The idea was to do like a guitar and vocal play-through of the song but during the shoot it kind of morphed into a music video. It’s nothing fancy at all really.’

So as another dreary Monday brings the beginning of the working week to many, the bustling area of Camden seems to have an extra buzz in the air tonight. Could it be the fact that the nights are staying lighter longer which means that summer might soon be upon us OR could it be the fact that two of metal’s most exciting bands are co-headlining the fantastic Electric Ballroom? Quite frankly my money is on the later, and that’s before even a single chord has been played.

Setting the stage for thenew album, “Rise” is a call-to-action for everyone to stand up for their beliefs. With two U.S. Billboard top 20 albums and a string of hit singles already under their belt, Prayers For The Damned represents the band’s most ambitious, complete and adrenaline-soaked effort to date. James Michael once again, plays triple-duty on Prayers For The Damned as vocalist, the album’s producer and mixer, thereby solidifying the unique musicianship of this beloved hard-rock outfit. The introspective cover art for Prayers For The Damned is an original design created by guitarist Dj Ashba, further proving that all aspects of this album are a collaboration of true passion for the band.
“SIXX:A.M. is in the most creative place of our careers,” says Sixx, “For James, Dj and myself, we think it’s the perfect time to release so much quality music to our fans who’ve been supporting us over the last 3 albums.” Michael agrees, “The double-albums will leave no stone unturned in our quest to create important music and push the boundaries of rock.” Ashba concludes, “We are on a mission to give our fans even more than they could have hoped for, both musically and visually.”

Cannibal Corpse is touring with other death metal bands spawned in the eighties including Cryptopsy and Obituary, and newcomers, Abysmal Dawn, born in ’03. Travel difficulties including tormenting traffic that added an additional three hours to my drive–all the way from Buffalo–prevented me from witnessing the openers.
REVIEW AND PICTURES BY ARTO LEHTINEN AND MARKO SYRJALA
“Balls To The Wall”, “Metal Heart” and a great number of other Accept classic ones have been the most important part of Udo Dirkschneider’s career, life and DNA since year zero. Especially those 80’s metal hymns have belonged to the youth of every teenager’s life back in the day. Even though the German metal icon has done those Accept evergreen on his long solo career until now, when he announced about closing the chapter of the Accept years by doing the specific tour under the Dirkschneider moniker. Back To The Roots/Farewell To Accept had been aimed high to cover nothing, but the Accept songs from the 80’s. Before Udo hit the stage smash the balls to the wall for the last time ever, the Canadian threesome Anvil had obtained the opening slot. The Tavastia club was totally packed, the gig was sold out a long time ago. Obviously the Accept nostalgia trip reached these 80’s heavy metal teenagers who had aged quite a lot. Seeing the younger generation in the middle aged crowd was quite rare.
Although the legendary Anvil DVD saw the light of day years ago, the band got the well deserved hype to boost the career to survive, but yet the hype still goes on. Frankly good for them, the 60 year old men got the one last chance to enjoy a bit of some kind of success before it was too late. However Lips appears to be a young naïve teenage hippie kid from the suburban area of Toronto, smoking weed and playing rock’n’roll. However Anvil’s simple and tongue-in-cheek mentality with the serious attitude is bloody cute and endearing in a way. Anvil is Anvil, no doubt about that. The songs off from METAL ON METAL played the major role in the set such as “666”, “March Of The Crabs” and of course “Metal On Metal” concluding the 60 minute set. As for the latest album being played a few songs for example “Die For A Lie” and “Zombie Apocalypse”. However that kind of simple metal seems to appeal to the certain group of the hard core metal fans for sure. Anvil is and presents a bit of comical as well as unintended humoristic aspects. The Canucks pounded and forged the metallic anvil for about one hour and left the stage with the overexcite crowd chanting Anvil, Anvil for a long time.

All right as stated earlier this is supposed to be Udo Dirkschneider’s farewell tour to his Accept era. The tour is massive and it seems like the demand has been incredible, because some festival has booked Dirkscheider. However the U.D.O moniker is on hiatus for the time being. Udo with the back-up band did the 120 minute set of several Accept songs. The packed club went entirely bezerk when the riff of “Starlight” cut the air and followed by all in all 23 Accept songs in a row. All of them had been picked up from the 80’s albums. Unfortunately the 90’s albums had been skipped completely and so was the Accept debut. It obvious why Udo concentrated on the well-known classics instead but it would have been great to hear at least a couple of tracks from the bands excellent re-union album at the time OBJECTION OVERRULED (1993). In fact the band then played a sold out show in this same venue and for sure there were many fans now present who witnessed that show. The album tracks “Objection Overruled”, “Slaves To Metal”, “Bulletproof” or “Protectors Of Terror” could all have been great additions on the set list. The sounds were excellent. Well as for the band in general, they did a solid work and did the justified work for the old classic material. But Accept is Accept with the full metal heart, therefore comparing the back-up band of Dirkschneider for them is pointless and beyond the absurd. However the guitar duet appeared to be enjoying being at the stage. Even though the most ultimate passion and fire have gone a bit down for Udo to perform the immortal metal hymns, but the metal legend performed all of those songs with the professional attitude and proud for sure. At least this is supposed to be the last time to hear classics like “Breaker”, “Princess of the Dawn” and “London Leatherboys” sung by Udo on the Finnish soil.
It remains to be seen if Udo truly leaves the Accept material out from his U.D.O gigs in the future. To be honest the 80’s metal fans are desperately eager to hear those Accept classic stuff, therefore it is going to be quite interesting how this decision will effect on the ticket selling in the future.
