Irish thrashers GAMA BOMB have confirmed a headlining European tour for September, before the band heads to North America in October for a two-month trek with the likes of OVERKILL, FORBIDDEN, DRI, EVILE and BONDED BY BLOOD.
GAMA BOMB will kick off the “Graveyard Disturbance” tour on September 16th in Nijmegen, Netherlands, with support for the tour coming from Danish metal award winners CROCELL.
GAMA BOMB bassist JOE McGUIGAN comments:
“We’re seriously looking forward to the GRAVEYARD DISTURBANCE TOUR: it’s been a while since we kicked over some tombstones in Europe. We’ll be touring in a slightly different incarnation, though, as our lead guitar player Domo ‘The Kid’ Dixon will be sitting out touring for the rest of 2010 to concentrate on personal stuff.
“Our pal and original guitbox player Kevy Canavan, who played on our first album, Survival of the Fastest, will be filling in for Domo on our European and US tours this year. As we’re revving up for a major US tour later this year, these will be our final European dates until some point in 2011, we’re not sure when.
“So get your ass to Mars (i.e. the graveyard (i.e. your local smelly club (that we’re playing in))) and help us chug some beers!”

Laid 8, is a four piece alternative rock act from Israel. Fronted by the small in stature but huge of voice Tal Itay, and featuring guitarist Dave G, bass player Uri Ofir and drummer Oded Grosz, Laid 8 have been steadily building their reputation with sell out shows throughout their home country and now is the time for the four piece to spread their wings, and see what the rest of the world has to offer!
The band’s four track debut EP has been garnering glowing praise and the band has just finished putting together a new video for the track ‘Answers’.
Slayer and Megadeth co-headline the 19-city “American Carnage” tour that kicks off tonight in Glens Falls, NY. Three classic Slayer in-concert DVDs – “Live Intrusion,” “War at the Warfield,” and “Still Reigning,” will be released separately and as a box-set next week, on August 17.
X Japan made its U.S. concert debut at Lollapalooza this past Sunday, and an ABC “World News with Diana Sawyer” crew was there to record the historic event. The Chicago Sun-Times called the band’s performance “a spectacular, almost operatic performance of big ballads and speed metal.” Time Out Chicago’s review thanked Lollapalooza’s co-founder Perry Farrell for booking “the coup of the festival,” and USA Today wrote, “The metal-pop-punk was fast and furious,” describing the drumming of band leader Yoshiki as “Keith Moon on Red Bull.”
X Japan, one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history, has its sights set on America, with its first U.S. tour and English-lyrics album coming this Fall. ABC-TV’s Dan Harris sat down with X Japan’s Yoshiki in Chicago, to talk about that, and more.
According to Burbankleader.com, a limited edition wine will be released Sunday in honor of Burbank native Randy Rhoads, who was the lead guitarist for OZZY OSBOURNE and QUIET RIOT before he was killed in a plane crash while on tour with Osbourne in 1982.
The Rhoads special edition 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon will be unveiled during a tasting party from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the D’Argenzio Winery in Burbank, home to the Rhoads and D’Argenzio families.
The special edition wine is a way to honor her brother’s legacy, music and life, said Kathryn Rhoads D’Argenzio.
“He grew up here and is still very revered in the music industry,” she said. “This is something I can do to keep his memory alive.”
New album from Austrias most successful Metalband!; Tour will start in October!
What can we tell you about Austrias most successful Metalband?!?
Their first album “Blessings from a Blackened Sky” was awarded as “Album of the month August” by the Metal Hammer Magazine in 2007. The second one “Origin Of The Storm” climbed on # 56 of the German album charts. In Austria it reached even # 25. In 2009 THE SORROW won the Austrian music award “Amadeus” for “Hard `n Heavy”.
THE SORROW toured during the last years with great bands like SEPULTURA, CHILDREN OF BODOM and CHIMARIA. And they rocked at the WACKEN OPEN AIR, the SUMMER BREEEZE, the MASTERS OF ROCK and many more Festivals. This year they performed at the SONISPHERE FESTIVAL (f.e. with METALLICA, SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, VOLBEAT ) in Switzerland and the NOVA ROCK (f.e. with RAMSTEIN, SLASH, GREEN DAY).
On October 29th the third, selftitled, album „The Sorrow“ will be released. This album is the moment of truth for Andi, Dominik, Mätze and Tobi.
They made a great start with “Blessings from a Blackened Sky“ and the, at this point totally unknown, band from Voralberg earned sudden success. With “Origin of the Storm” they brought their original sound to perfection. Now the band is ready to take a risk.
THE SORROW defined their music new, but remained true to themselfes. The classical concepts left for the overwhelming will to explore new terrain. In result they created 13 unique songs. This songs combine everything, that makes Metal cracking good.
With this new album THE SORROW is not only going new ways, but taking their audience with them to new horizons.
Of course THE SORROW will be live on stage. This are the latest tourdates.
The dates for concerts in Benelux, Scandinavia and Austria will follow soon.
The first photo of the new lineup of the Californian metal band AGENT STEEL — featuring the group’s returning vocalist, John Cyriis — can be viewed to the right. The picture was taken by Alex Solca on July 23, 2010.
AGENT STEEL is currently rehearsing its classic material as well as working on new songs for future release. One of the tracks that Cyriis has been writing lyrics to has a working title of “Behold…The Great Race”.
Cyriis appeared on AGENT STEEL’s first three releases — “Skeptics Apocalypse” (1985), “Mad Locust Rising” (1985) and “Unstoppable Force” (1987).
AGENT STEEL’s fifth album, “Alienigma”, was issued by Mascot Records on August 31, 2007.
Maurizio Iacono, vocalist of iconic Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM, recently gave us a track by track break down of the their new album Heaven’s Venom. The following is Part 2 of the commentary, which encompasses tracks 8 – 10 from the album.
“At the Edge of the World”:
“Forget IN FLAMES and AT THE GATES! This song rivals the best of them in the melodic thrash area. This song will make many heads turn I think. Unleash your anger and bang your head! For when you feel like your suffocating and you’re at your breaking point. Standing at the edge of the world; will you jump or survive?”
“The most dark, melodic and dramatic song on the album. A gut gripping and very intense song, fast and mid paced without taking a breath. Deals with suicide and how easy it is to take that route versus living in this fucked up world.”
“The slow finale. A very atmospheric song with a sharp edge. A sing along song it will make you think. Rivals are best slow songs like “Road to Devastation”. Song deals with questioning God and faith. Questions what you can’t see.”
KATAKLYSM have made their new album Heaven’s Venom available for streaming in it’s entirety on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/Kataklysm. Heaven’s Venom will be released on August 13th in Europe and August 24th in North America. The follow-up to 2008’s Prevail, was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist J-F Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MNEMIC, DARK TRANQUILLITY). Pre-order Heaven’s Venom with or without an exclusive shirt design while supplies last at the following location http://store.nuclearblastusa.com/Search/kataklysm.
Candlelight Records today confirms October 12 as the North American release date for Quietly, Undramatically, the new album from WOE. Recorded at Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, New Jersey with additional tracking completed at frontman Chris Grigg’s BS1 in Philadelphia, the album is the first to feature a full band ensemble comprised of members from Absu, Woods of Ypres, The Green Evening Requiem, Infernal Stronghold and Rumpelstiltskin Grinder.
Formed in 2007, WOE originally began as a solo project of Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist Chris Grigg. Popular site Metal Review called WOE’s debut, A Spell For The Death Of Man (2008/Stronghold Records), “easily 2008’s most criminally overlooked album” while Mouth For War notes, “balancing technical mastery with desolate atmospherics, A Spell For The Death Of Man shears through the fabric of society with ferocious aggression and a hatred for mankind.” Teeth Of The Divine adds, “WOE turns out to be one of the very best pure black metal bands I’ve heard is some time. It captures the misanthropy, tortured melody, scarred atmospherics and introspective, craggy nihilism of the genre.”
Reveals Grigg, “Quietly, Undramatically is a major step forward for WOE. Not only is it our first release for Candlelight Records but the debut of WOE: the band as opposed to WOE: the solo project. The performances of Evan Madden (drums) and Shane Madden (bass) bring WOE to a whole new level. It is a much more mature album, featuring dynamics and ideas that WOE has never been able to tackle before. We are all very excited for this album’s release and the subsequent live performances in support of it!”
Quietly, Undramatically is WOE’s first release for England’s Candlelight Records. The album reunites the band with designer/illustrator Justin Miller. “Justin and I have worked together on different projects for years now and he has never let me down. I consider his art an additional song on the album — the most important song, the one that ties it all together. Sound is what I do, sight is what he does, and it is a relief to know that WOE‘s presentation is handled with such feeling.”
Track listing for Quietly, Undramatically is: 1) No Solitude, 2) The Road From Recovery, 3) Quietly, Undramatically, 4) A Treatise on Control, 5) Without Logic, 6) Full Circle, 7) Hatred is Our Heart.
WOE will celebrate the release with a free performance, along with labelmates KRIEG, at Philadelphia’s Kung Fu Necktie (1248 North Front Street) on October 28. QUEENSRŸCHE’S TRIPLE-PLATINUM ‘EMPIRE’ REMASTERED AND EXPANDED FOR 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 28 BY CAPITOL/EMI
QUEENSRŸCHE’S TRIPLE-PLATINUM ‘EMPIRE’ REMASTERED AND EXPANDED FOR 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION, TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 28 BY CAPITOL/EMI
Deluxe 2CD and Digital Packages Feature Remastered Original Album Plus 13 Bonus Tracks, Including 10 Previously Unreleased Live Recordings
Hollywood, California – Queensrÿche has partnered with Capitol/EMI for the September 14 release of an expanded 20th Anniversary Edition of the band’s triple platinum-certified breakout album, Empire. The new 2-CD and digital packages both include the remastered album, featuring six hit singles, including the #1 smash “Silent Lucidity,” as well as 13 bonus tracks, among them 10 previously unreleased live performances recorded in 1990 at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. The 2-CD package is presented in a lift-top box with five postcards, a fold-out poster and a booklet featuring rare photos from the band’s personal archive.
After building a devoted fan base with album and EP releases throughout the 1980s, including 1988’s critically acclaimed Operation: Mindcrime, Queensrÿche broke into the mainstream across North America and abroad with the 1990 release of Empire. In the U.S., the album peaked at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and its hit ballad “Silent Lucidity” quickly became a heavy rotation staple at rock radio and on MTV, topping Billboard’s Modern Rock singles chart and earning Queensrÿche the coveted MTV Viewers Choice Award for the song’s music video. Empire also made the U.K.’s Top 10, and the album’s international success led to Queensrÿche’s 18-month headlining “Building Empires” world tour, the band’s longest trek to date.
Empire also features the Billboard Top 10 Modern Rock hits “Jet City Woman” and “Another Rainy Night,” the Top 20 single, “Anybody Listening?,” and the Top 30 singles “Best I Can” and Empire.” In addition to the aforementioned live recordings, Empire (20th Anniversary Edition)’s bonus tracks include “Last Time in Paris” from the Ford Forlaine soundtrack, “Dirty Lil’ Secret,” and the band’s cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Scarborough Fair.”
Since forming in Bellevue, Washington in 1981, Queensrÿche has sold more than twenty million albums around the world. For more information, visit Queensrÿche’s official web site: www.queensryche.com
Richmond, VA’s own MUNICIPAL WASTE and FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT are pleased to present the online premiere of the long-awaited music video for the song “Acid Sentence.” Taken from the band’s most recent album, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE, “Acid Sentence” centers around a serial killer who bathes his victims in acid. Shot in the style of a classic black and white horror film, video offers all of the aggression and fierce gore that fans have come to love about MUNICIPAL WASTE and FANGORIA.
“Acid Sentence” was directed by David McKendry. To give the fans an extra dose of terrifying bloody gore, David also recruited the effects talents at Dapper Cadaver, whose fine gore craftsmanship has graced TV shows like BONES and DEXTER. All of their hard effort has paid off in a video that stands alone as a pure piece of memorable horror.
Watch the video for MUNICIPAL WASTE‘s “Acid Sentence” TODAY at FANGORIA.com
Information on FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT: FANGORIA sliced its way onto the scene in 1979, becoming the only national publication devoted to the modern horror genre. Three decades later, FANGORIA is still the number one authority on all things scary! FANGORIA provides the best in horror entertainment and news coverage including the website, magazine, radio show on Sirius XM, film production division, comic book division, convention circuit, and TV On-Demand Channel (coming this September). FANGORIA ENTERTAINMENT: We know what scares you! For more information, please visit www.fangoria.com
Information on MUNICIPAL WASTE: Named by Billboard Magazine as one of the world’s “up and coming” metal bands, Richmond, Virginia’s MUNICIPAL WASTE have not only proven themselves worthy of the honor, but they have worked hard to become the undisputed modern leaders of the crossover genre. Founded by guitarist, Ryan Waste and vocalist, Tony Foresta in 2000, MUNICIPAL WASTE have gone from an underground sensation playing songs that incorporate elements of thrash metal, punk and hardcore (in the vein of DRI, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and NUCLEAR ASSAULT), to singlehandedly resurrecting a genre and finally defining it. Along with bassist, Land Phil and world-class drummer, Dave Witte, MUNICIPAL WASTE has taken its frantic, crossover-infused sound all over the world to high p raise from critics and fans alike. The band is still hard at work promoting their latest album, 2009’s MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. Supported by tours with LAMB OF GOD, headlining runs with the likes of BRUTAL TRUTH and GOATWHORE, as well appearances at major metal festivals the world over, MASSIVE AGGRESSIVE has been the band’s best-selling record to date

Today, MORIBUND RECORDS announces the North American release date of THRALL’s debut album, Away From the Haunts of Men, as November 9th, 2010. Originally released overseas earlier this year by Total Holocaust Records, the North American edition of THRALL’s Away From the Haunts of Men will include an exclusive bonus video for the track “Torrent of Death,” which can be viewed in the meantime here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_tBBmdRS4A
Comments the band, “THRALL are pleased to collaborate with the legendary MORIBUND CULT for the North American edition of our debut album, Away from the Haunts of Men. We strive to spread our contagious virulence to all mankind!” The band also details its aims here:
“THRALL is a Tasmanian black metal/doom band. You may ask, why does this matter? The howling gales of Antarctica have ironically sheltered large tracts of Tasmania from human habituation to this day. Since European settlement in 1803, the island’s history has included the genocide of the Tasmanian aboriginals and cases of cannibalism among escaped convicts. THRALL is a product of this landscape, this history and no other.”
“Homosapiens are a plague mindlessly consuming the last of the Earth’s resources; mass extinction/ecological cataclysm is upon us. THRALL’s music howls a pro-void mantra advocating the post-human era. THRALL is an embodiment of the contradiction of being inherently human yet anti-human.”
“THRALL fuse the mid-paced blastbeats of old-school black metal with lush vacuum-tube-soaked guitars. THRALL’s instrumentation is textured and diverse, from primal black metal songs to spacious doom epics and atmospheric soundscapes. Seemingly primitive music is partnered with high-end production values, whilst remaining bile-soaked and sincerely misanthropic.”
