“Heaven TV” is the ninth track from Anthropocentric, the upcoming full-length from German progressive/atmospheric metal enigmas THE OCEAN. Set for a North American release on November 9 via Metal Blade Records, Anthropocentric serves as part two of the concept explored on the band’s well-received Heliocentric long player, released this past spring.
The concept at the base of both offerings is a critique of Christianity from varying philosophical and personal perspectives. Both records were recorded in the mountainous isolation of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the highest elevated city in Europe, and recorded and mixed by their house sound engineer Julien Fehlmann.
Music Industry veteran and metal musician Steve “Buckshot” Seabury brings you “Mosh Potatoes – Recipes, Anecdotes & Mayhem From The Heavyweights Of Heavy Metal”. Almost 5 years in the making, Simon & Schuster the publisher, has moved the street date from November 30th to November 16th due to the heavy anticipation of the release. The book is now available for pre order online and will be available all of book stores, your favorite record stores and many mail order companies.
Seabury has set up a charity for the artist proceeds from each sale of the book to benefit The Meals on Wheels Charity. “This organization is very dear to my heart because it provides for so many great people, people like my own grandma. For the metal community to stand together and help these elderly people experiencing financial stress is a true blessing in my eyes.” The Meals on Wheels Charity provides a great service by delivering over a million meals a day to senior citizens who are experiencing economic hardships or disabilities and cant afford to buy food.
Mosh Potatoes features 147 exciting recipes from legendary icons like Lemmy, Zakk Wylde and Lita Ford to the thrash titans of Pantera, Megadeth, Testament, Overkill and Anthrax to the hair metal bands of Guns & Roses, Dokken, LA Guns, Steel Panther, Twisted Sister to the mayhem of metal including Mudvayne, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Hatebreed and Devildriver to death metal pioneers of Napalm Death, Obituary, Death and Sepultura and the book wouldnt be complete without the future of the new school like Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Lazarus AD, Evile and Moth Eater.
If you live for metal and like amazing food then you will without a doubt love Mosh Potatoes. So put the beers on ice, fire up the grill and Cook Out With Your Book Out!!!

JOHNNY LOKKE’s Promises and Lies was released worldwide today, October 19th, 2010, on Big Riff Records and is available from www.johnnylokkeband.com, CDBaby.com, and DigStation.com with other retailers to follow soon. On Promises and Lies Johnny Lokke returns with with his third album of tough ‘n melodic heavy metal. Lokke takes his big riffed classic heavy metal approach and injects it with a ballsier sound reminiscent of Dio, Armored Saint, and Judas Priest, as well as more modern acts like Astral Doors, Lions Share, and Tarot.
ANVIL have entered Dave Grohl’s studio in Los Angeles, CA with producer Bob Marlette (BLACK SABBATH, SLAYER, AIRBOURNE ALICE COOPER) to record their brand new album, Juggernaut Of Justice. A Spring 2011 release on The End Records is expected.
In a 2009 interview with Suite101.com, ANVIL drummer Robb Reiner stated about the group’s forthcoming CD, “It’s going to be the best album we’ve ever done. We’ve invented a new genre; we’ve invented metal-jazz . . . We’ve pioneered something that I believe is going to be revolutionary. I’m a jazz drummer: the world knows that I just happen to be in a metal band. And Lips [guitarist/vocalist Steve Kudlow] listens to a lot of old-time swing jazz these days.” Lips added, “I’ve been getting into Benny Goodman and Gene Krupa, really fast swing. It’s really similar to speed metal, it’s just that it’s done with horns.” Reiner continued, “We play this stuff live right now, and it blows people away beyond anything I’ve ever seen. We’ve innocently created something that’s never been done before.”
For the last thirteen years, Secret Sphere have been successfully building their reputation of power metal heroes. Strongly influenced by such acts as Dream Theater, Savatage and Helloween, this Italian group managed to develop a style of their own, forging together fast aggressive riffs and bold symphonic elements. Now, with the re-issues of two of some of their finest albums – “Scent of Human Desire” (2003) and “Heart & Anger” (2005) – Metal Mind is proud to bring back one of the most talented power metal acts of all times…
Secret Sphere was founded in 1997 by guitarist Aldo Lonobile. After some time the final line-up was complete and, with Andy Buratto (bass), Marco Pastorino (rhythm guitar), Gabrielle Ciaccia (keyboards and piano), Ramon R. Messina (vocals) and Federico Pannazzato (drums) on board, the band recorded their debut album “Mistress of The Shadowlight” (1999). The LP was a local success and presented the band with some interesting opportunities, such as the participation in the Helloween tribute album “Keepers of the Jericho” alongside such artists as Rhapsody and Sonata Arctica. In 2001 Secret Sphere released their second full-length album entitled “A Time Nevercome”, which was promoted by an excessive European tour. In 2003 the band signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Records regarding the release of their third album – “Scent of Human Desire”. Recorded with the help of the acclaimed producer Achim Köhler (Sinner, Primal Fear, Brainstorm), the LP brought the first glimpses of progressive elements, which would later become a permanent element of the group’s style. With such excellent tracks as “1000 Eyes Show”, “Runway Train” and the glam-inspired “Virgin Street 69”, Secret Sphere finally managed to introduce their music to a wider audience, receiving great reviews all around the world. The second LP recorded for Nuclear Blast – “Heart & Anger” – saw the light of day on May 30th, 2005. The album brought an even more progressive sound and more polished compositions (which included parts performed by a full orchestra) and featured such highlights as the emotional opener “Where The Sea Ends” and the stomping “Bad Blood”. The following years brought two more albums by Secret Sphere: “Sweet Blood Theory” from 2008 and their latest opus “Archetype” from 2010.
“The Scent Of Human Desire” and “Heart & Anger” will be available in new digipak editions, each limited to 2000 copies. Both albums include a bonus track. The material was remastered using tube technology, digitally edited on a golden disc. Metal Mind Productions set up the release date for November, 22nd in Europe and January, 11th 2011 in USA (via MVD).

Dorset, England’s pummeling doom trio RAMESSES have been ultra busy this year, and have a lot planned for the coming months.
RAMESSES just recently completed their latest wave of European live dates, selling out most of the concerts on their ten date tour through France and Spain. At press time the band are currently gearing up for a three day attack on British soil this week with support from Norway’s Obliteration for a rampage through Newcastle, Birmingham and ending in London, at the Fenriz-curated Live Evil Festival this Saturday, also appearing alongside Angel Witch, Volcano, Hooded Menace and tons more. These will probably be the last shows the band will play for 2010.
RAMESSES October 2010 UK Tour w/ Obliteration:
10/21/2010 Trillians – Newcastle, UK
10/22/2010 The Asylum – Birmingham, UK
10/23/2010 The Underworld – London, UK @ Live Evil Fest
More tour actions will ensue in 2011 of course; RAMESSES are already confirmed to play the annual Roadburn Festival on April 16th, 2011. A poster for the event can be snagged HERE.
Additionally, Jake and Dinos Chapman — the artists who crafted the controversial “Fucking Hell” art masterpiece used for RAMESSES’ Take The Curse cover art — offered to make a video for the track “Baptism of the Walking Dead” from the album.
While RAMESSES have been working hard all year in support of their latest full-length Take The Curse, released in June of 2010 on Ritual Productions, they’re already preparing their next opus for release. Tentatively set for a March 2011 release, the band have already captured ten new tracks for their upcoming 3rd full-length entitled Possessed by the Rise of Magik, again coming out via Ritual Productions. Some confirmed track titles for the new album include “Safety in Numbness,” “Towers of Silence” and an epic 15-minute title track. More details will be released in the coming weeks on this monster.
Previous to the release of Possessed by the Rise of Magik, the band are planning a two-song 12″ EP entitled Chrome Pineal/Blazoned Fauna. “Chrome Pineal” is a ten minute 1960s style exploration recorded during the Take the Curse sessions, and “Blazoned Fauna” is another brand new track from the Possessed by the Rise of Magik recording sessions.
RAMESSES were spawned in the woodland of Dorset, England. They have been disfiguring the innards of their army of devoted listeners since 2003 when drummer Mark Greening and guitarist Tim Bagshaw hooked up with Adam Richardson (bass + vox). In the intervening years, RAMESSES have ripped an incurable wound in the metal scene with killer live shows around the UK and Europe.

CHIMAIRA & THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE on the ‘Blue Collar Brawler Tour’ w/ Impending Doom and Daath:
HULL‘s crushing Viking Funeral EP is currently streaming in its entirety via Decibel Magazine’s recently relaunched website. The unsung, 16-plus minute EP was initially self-released by the Brooklyn-based, three-guitar led sludge metal collective back in 2007 — their first official recording. It comes hand numbered/crafted with stunning artwork by Jorden Haley [http://www.karbine.com], (available in poster format for purchase via the band directly at: http://www.hullandhighwater.com/merchandise.
Said the band of the recording: “Viking Funeral is a two-movement EP that focuses on the life of war and struggle of an antiquated culture…This EP will eventually be part of a full-length album that touches on life, death and afterlife in the Viking mythology.”
HULL released their debut full-length, Sole Lord, via The End Records in 2009. The band is currently working on their follow-up with co-producer Brett Romnes, who played drums on the Viking Funeral EP. Further details to be announced shortly.
At A Loss Recordings is ready to announce two vinyl releases for the fall from Floridian doom duo DARK CASTLE.
First up, the vinyl edition of DARK CASTLE’s critically acclaimed 2009 full-length Spirited Migration, which the band has been touring on almost constantly for the past two years. This already behemoth album will be available to the public in massive 180-gram vinyl, the first pressing coming in both opaque ruby red and opaque forest green vinyl. The platters will be available to the public this October 26th, but are shipping via AAL mailorder now. View a photo of the beautiful finished product HERE.
The next release from DARK CASTLE will also be on wax, in the form of Guardian Of Fire; a one-sided LP bearing the 21+ minute song “Guardian Of Fire” track on one side, and a complex etching on the B-side. The track was initially recorded before the Spirited Migration sessions but was never finalized or released. Recently the band unearthed the track, took it to engineering magician Sanford Parker (Minsk, Nachtmystium, Rwake) to remix and finalize the track, with Parker contributing some moog and effects to the final version as well. The LP will be available sometime in early 2011; a final release date and album artwork by vocalist/guitarist Stevie Floyd will be announced/posted shortly.
DARK CASTLE have basically become a household name for devotees of crushing, cerebral doom and organic slow-motion metal due to their incessant touring across North America and Europe alongside Black Cobra, Zoroaster, Nachtmystium, Black Tusk, The Body, Minsk, Battlefields, Samothrace, Howl and countless more over the past several years. The intoxicating, pentatonic flow of DARK CASTLE’s unique, thunderous attack offers more than the typical “doom act” and their live shows are as visually entertaining as they are sonically devastating. Check out live footage of the band’s recent jaunt across North America with Nachtmystium, Zoroaster and The Atlas Moth and more HERE.
Stay tuned for more DARK CASTLE news and updates over the coming months.
