Italian gothic metallers MACBETH have confirmed that the band is currently in pre-production for its fifth full-length.
Commented the group: “We know. It has been a while since our last update and that is not without reason. This year has been a pretty busy and tumultuous one for band members. We’ve been hard at work writing material for the next album since last winter, but unfortunately we have been forced to take a break during this spring and summer as Max needed to recover from a serious shoulder injury exacerbated by playing guitar. Luckily Max’s shoulder is fully healed and he’s working on new stuff right now. Among other things (on September the 4th), Fabrizio and Morena got married after being together almost ten years! Currently in pre–production phase the band is working on vocal lines and lyrics for almost 10 brand new songs. All we can say is that we feel it’s some of the best stuff wehave ever written. The new studio album is as yet untitled and still without a release date. More details about studios will follow as soon as everything is confirmed. Stay tuned for updates!”
Spain’s thrash hopefuls ANGELUS APATRIDA proudly present you the first video from their much lauded album “Clockwork” that was released via Century Media Records earlier this year and made an impressive debut at #44 on the Spanish sales charts. “Blast Off” was directed and produced by Stuff & Nonsense and directors Adriana Lorente and Sara Cort who worked intensively with the band to capture the essence of the record.
The punishing thrash act hasn’t stopped a single minute since they released the album, and right after the European Bangover they embarked on the first leg of Spanish dates that will have them thrashing the entire country during the next two months.
Guitarist/vocalist Guillermo Izquierdo, states:
“We are really happy about the Spanish tour. Touring with Warbringer and Skeletonwitch has been a blast, but after all that has been happening in Spain with “Clockwork”, we can’t wait to present it in front of our friends and fans. Fortunately, we have the chance to do a massive tour and play with some of the best bands all across the country. The band has never felt so good or sounded stronger, so you know what to expect, massive thrash madness that will blow your head away”
Rolling Stone’s newest health columnist Ozzy Osbourne is already oozing verbal gems of hilarity, and author Dave Thompson archives the legend’s internal genius in Thompson’s new book The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne.
After years of fronting Black Sabbath and four seasons of The Osbournes, Ozzy has developed a multilateral personality full of quirkiness and candidness, each side of which Thompson has captured in The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne.
“I don’t know who Ozzy is,” Osbourne says of himself. “I wake up a new person every day.” Such is the mystery of heavy metal’s most beloved and beguiled figures, a mystery that intrigues longtime fans and pop culture observers alike.
Excerpts of The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne can be found online. The book can be ordered here.
F+W Media is a book and magazine publishing company based in Cincinnati and New York. Be it the perfect holiday gift for the heavy metal enthusiast or simply a nostalgic look back at one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most legendary figures, The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne encapsulates the countless quote worthy moments of one of music’s most notorious figures.
Swedish heavy metallers ENFORCER have finished filming a new music video for the song ‘Midnight Vice’ in Stockholm, Sweden.
ENFORCER shot the video with famed director PATRIC ULLAEUS (DIMMU BORGIR, IN FLAMES, SONIC SYNDICATE). The video sees the band doing what they do best – rocking out in a typical Swedish bar and around the city of Stockholm.
The track ‘Midnight Vice’ is taken from the band’s new album, DIAMONDS. The video will be released in the next few weeks.
ENFORCER drummer JONAS WIKSTRAND comments:
“We finally finished the shooting of the video, after planning this for months. All of us had pain in our necks after one day of shooting from giving everything during our performances in the studio. I have a really good feeling about the video and I think it’s gonna be killer.
“Working with Patric, who’s made tons of videos during the last decades with huge success, has been a great experience. He’s very professional and talented and I believe he’s gonna make us look good. I hope the video’s gonna be out soon so YOU can see it!

Enter The Pumpkin Carving Photo Contest To Win A 7 Sinners Prizepack
“Are You Metal?” Helloween already asked you that a couple weeks ago when they premiered the video for the song with the same name on Myspace. Now they are testing your Metal knowledge. Are you up for the challenge? If you think you have what it takes, check out The Ultimate Metal Quiz.
For those of you with more of the artistic sense, Helloween has a contest for you too. Head on over to the Metal Club Facebook page and join the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Grand Prize is a prizepack that includes a 7 Sinners jacket, autographed poster and a copy of the new album. Your photo needs to be sent in by November 5th, so get your pumpkin and start carving!
Helloween are set to release their 13th studio album, 7 Sinners, on November 9, 2010 in North America via The End Records. 7 Sinners is definitively one of the fastest and hardest albums in the Helloween’s history and it bursts with vitality. That might partly be due to the versatility of the various songwriters within the band, who over time have become so homogenous, that the 13 songs formed a unity on their own in the studio , but it may also be due to the fact that the album was recorded completely without a click track, which, considering the extreme speed of the songs is an impressive feat. Especially drummer Löble, who proves that his technique is at a world-class-level. Following his excellent inner clock, bass and drums drive tracks like “Are You Metal?”, “Long Live The King” and “Who Is Mr. Madman?” to dizzying tempos. 7 Sinners with its typically strong melodies and the tangible joy of playing, is a true metal album whose range reaches astonishing dimensions.

Unquestionably, one of the most talked about records to emerge in 2010 would be the triumphant comeback album "Blood of the Nations" from one of Germany’s most revered and longstanding heavy metal bands Accept. All of the usual buzz that accompanies the addition of a new frontman to a veteran band’s line-up was in full effect leading up to the release of the new album, only this time in an unusual turn of events, the reception for new Accept screamer Mark Tornillo was unanimously positive. Partnering with Nuclear Blast for the release of "Blood of the Nations" you can now catch the revitalized Accept in concert on their current world tour, a tour that has already taken Accept through many markets that haven’t felt the "Teutonic Terror" in decades or in some cases…ever. Guitarist and founding member Wolf Hoffman recently took time out of his very busy schedule to visit with Metal-Rules.com about life in Accept post-Udo, the aforementioned addition of new singer Mark Tornillo, working with famed producer Andy Sneap and much more. Make double triple sure you catch Accept live when they light up a stage near you.
DREAM THEATER vocalist JAMES LABRIE has issued the following update:
“It is very difficult for what I am about to say. The Static Impulse tour has been cancelled due to some unfortunate, unforeseen difficulties with securing work visas for a couple of the guys. It would be virtually impossible for us to have these visas processed on time to begin the tour let alone the rehearsals which were scheduled for the week prior to the first show.
I don’t know what to say other than we are all in shock and can only hope we can make this a reality at some point in the near future. I am really sorry to everyone who has gone out and purchased the meet and greets and show tickets. This totally sucks and I’m sure you’re all quite upset and have every right to be. I can only ask for your understanding and forgiveness and assure you that when we are in a position (hopefully in the near future ) to tour all of this will have been taken care of well in advance or it just won’t happen.”
The aforementioned North American tour had been scheduled to run November 26th to December 20th.
The multi-Platinum rock band Anthrax will release its first recording in 20 years with Joey Belladonna on vocals. “Live at the Sonisphere” (Megaforce Records), a limited-edition, 10-inch picture disc single, will feature the tracks “Medusa” and “Only,” both recorded this past June 22 in Sofia, Bulgaria, where Anthrax performed as part of The Big Four – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. “Live at the Sonisphere” will be released on “Black Friday,” November 26, exclusively through Metal Club, the North American indie record store consortium that works to connect the metal community with their local “brick and mortar” record stores. Go to http://www.mymetalclub.com/ to find a Metal Store record shop near you.
About the importance of independent record stores, Anthrax’s Charlie Benante said, “Indie stores are our only hope! People should cherish these wonderful treasures. Go, get lost in an indie record store, you may discovery a band or record that could blow your mind.”
“The Sonisphere concerts were some of the greatest shows for us,” added Belladonna, “and to have shared it with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth was just the best. It’s an experience none of us will ever forget, and we’re happy that our fans can share a little of that, and that Anthrax can be part of the Metal Club with this single.”
Anthrax just wrapped up the 20-date North American Jagermeister Fall Music Tour with Slayer and Megadeth, and will head to South America in November for a handful of dates. They will then return to the U.S. to finish recording a new album – their first with Belladonna on vocals since 1990’s “Persistence of Time” – set for a 2011 release.
With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, Anthrax is about to celebrate its 30th year as a band. Over its career, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans.
Guitarist/vocalist Ashmedi of Mesopotamian blackened thrash pioneers MELECHESH, has issued the final instalment of several track by track explanations of songs from their forthcoming album. The Epigenesis was released on October 1st in Europe and on October 26th in North America via Nuclear Blast Records.
10. A Greater Chain of Being
“This is an instrumental with traditional near eastern instruments. This music represents sufi music or ancient eastern classical music. This is not very common in mainstream society and in the middle east it is considered underground! It is profound and spiritual and meant for you to confront yourself while meditating or tripping. We have done such compositions in the past because we feel close to them. It is another dimension of MELECHESH. Many of our audiences asked us to compose more songs like this because they do not have access to such music. It was a treat to oblige, even though we would have done it in either case. Turn the lights off, computer off, phone off and go on a trip.”
11. The Epigenesis
“Some have called it one of our most accomplished songs performed with 12 string electric guitars. Some have called it a journey into the world of MELECHESH. Some called it MELECHESH in psychedelic mode. I call it another song, albeit self indulgent. We did not want to make a demo for this track, but rather develop it during several writing sessions often lasting into the morning hours. We wanted the listener to feel as if they were right there with us in the rehearsal room. The guitar leads were improvised and it gave an impromptu feel to the song. Leads were recorded late at night without an agenda. The hallways of the studio doubled as reverb outlets . Yes the reverbs in this song were ‘handmade’ by putting a microphone in the hallway to pick up the distant and echo sound of our guitars. Many things happened while recording this song that made it all work like a perfectly built puzzle. You can hear elaborate middle eastern melodies, heavy metal, thrash metal and psychedelic rock all in the same track. The longest track we have ever written. One verse in our lyrics refers to all our album titles. A very interesting concept for us. This is the testimony of The Epigenesis.”
MELECHESH have made the track “Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin” available for streaming on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/Melechesh. The track comes from the bands new album The Epigenesis.
The Epigenesis was recorded in the newly built first class Babajim Studios in Istanbul, Turkey. The album was mixed by Reuben de Lautour and mastered by Pieter Snapper. In an unprecedented move in metal, the band chose to record the album entirely in Istanbul in an attempt to capture the inspiring surroundings. Babajim Studios is run by some of the most elite sound engineers in Turkey.
The artwork (attached) to their long awaited 5th album was handled by renowned UK based occult artist John Coulthart, whom the band has previously collaborated with before.
