“The unrelenting visionary allows this particular album to glimpse back at the past. The result is an imposing symbiosis of traditional and modern elements taken from the Swedes’ characteristic sound cosmos. Folk metal anthems meet icy black metal passages and Nordic melodies. The mix delivers multifaceted and memorable songs that carry the mastermind’s unique signature.
The album is completely sung in Swedish and its lyrics borrow from Vintersorg’s past themes: Revolving around man and nature, unique phenomena in the wild, and philosophical observations. Vintersorg’s unmistakable and powerful vocals — from clean to extreme — reign over each track with resounding force, while his production prowess gives the songs a crystal-clear and potent sound. Jordpuls impressively combines tradition with modernism, while showcasing the best of the Swedish visionary.”
Guitarist Mark ‘M.E.’ Edwards of Overlorde has been added as the opening act for the Friday, January 28th, 2011 show at Dingbatz featuring headliners ZO2. In related news, the bionic power of the band’s Dark Ages full-length, issued last year via Metal Blade Records, continues to annihilate unsuspecting listeners with its level of riff urgency. Dark Ages made its way on to a host of Year End lists including Revolver Magazine’s Top 20 of 2010 where the band was commended for releasing, “the best meat-and-potatoes stoner-metal record this year.” Check out the full review HERE.
After “ Morning Glory Clouds (In Manus Tuas Domine) “, ” Goddess Presiding Over Solitude “, is the new song from Portuguese Metallers HEAVENWOOD, which is available for streaming on the band’s Myspace Page Player. The track comes off the group’s fourth album, ” Abyss Masterpiece “, which will be released worldwide via Listenable Records on March the 14th, 2011.
Concerning ‘ Goddess Presiding Over Solitude ‘, HEAVENWOOD’s lead guitarist and melodic singer Ricardo Dias said, ” ‘ Goddess Presiding Over Solitude ‘ contains more heavier and pompous sounding stuff than ever done before by HEAVENWOOD. This song grabs the listener by the throat with some of the most intense riffs of the album and is built in emotional intensity as the lyric concept is inspired on a poem adapted to English from our very first Portuguese female poet D. Leonor also known as Marquesa de Alorna. “
Meanwhile, HEAVENWOOD have announced the addition of drummer Marcelo Aires ( OBLIQUE RAIN ) to the group’s ranks as new session drummer which is considered by the band ‘ as a very technical and competent young musician ‘.
“ Abyss Masterpiece “ is now available for pre-order (for the special price of € 10,00) at Listenable Records website at this location.
Crashdïet’s debut “Rest in Sleaze” (2005) put the New Wave of Sleaze on the Swedish media-map. Some time later tragedy struck when vocalist Dave Lepard committed suicide. And his replacement Olliver Twisted turned out to be wrong for the band and exited following the second album “The Unattractive Revolution” (2007). However, Crashdïet refused to give up. They found sensational front man Simon Cruz and released last year’s “Generation Wild” – a knock-out comeback and a big success on the band’s home turf. Crashdïet will now return to SRF with renewed vigor, as one of Sweden’s hottest bands once more. Read more under Bands 2011

“The Price,” a new song from Day Of Reckoning, has been posted on the band’s MySpace page. States Schmier: “This song expresses the spirit of Day Of Reckoning at its best: faster, more raw, and tighter. One of my favorite tracks on the album because you can feel the fire and the joy of playing! The band feels the old-school aggression again and this song is like a rocket: UN-FUCKIN-STOPPABLE!”
Mammoth Lakes, California blackened death horde VALDUR, who released their Raven God Amongst Us full-length upon unsuspecting masses this past summer and are already working on new tunes, will bring their infernal rumblings to the live arena for two very special shows. The first will happen this coming Friday at The Blvd. in Boyle Heights, California. The second will be an appearance on the Oakland Black/Death Fest at the Metro Operhouse on Saturday March 12th. The band will be joined by headliners Dispirit, Necrite and Mutilation Rites among others. Check out both tour posters HERE.
Commented drummer Sxuperion on the live shows and upcoming new tunes: “We always look forward to the live event, as we very much appreciate and respect the energy and effort that is required to provide VALDUR’s music immediately! Otherwise, VALDUR has basically kept our determination focused upon the writing of many new songs that will see themselves appear on a new full-length release. We are buried in ten to 20 feet of snow in town which is very conducive to writing and creating. The new songs are faster and more intense than anything that VALDUR has released thus far. This new full-length will be finished and out when we say so.”

3/12/2011 The Oakland Black/Death Fest @ The Metro Opera House – Oakland, CA
