Omen Signs Deal With DSN Music

April 20th, 2011
by EvilG
LAS VEGAS, NV – The legendary hard rock and heavy metal group Omen has signed an exclusive digital distribution deal with DSN Music, featuring their latest release “Hammer Damage”. The new album will be the 11th from the veteran rockers, who consist of Matt Story on vocals, guitarist and founder Kenny Powell, bassist Andy Haas, and Wampa on drums.

“We are extremely excited about signing with DSN Music” said Omen’s Kenny Powell. “This release will be a ride straight into the glory days of Metal, no compromises, take no prisoners!”

Omen was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983, by lead guitarist Kenny Powell; previously with the rock group Savage Grace and signed on with Metal Blade Records in 1984, and released their debut album “Battle Cry”. In 1985 the second album “Warning Of Danger” followed, building up Omen’s reputation as one of the forefathers of power metal acts, such as Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer. In 1986, Omen’s successes lead to the release of the blockbuster album “The Curse” on Capital Records. The hit single “Thorn In Your Flesh” from their release “Escape To Nowhere” topped the metal charts in 1985.

Omen continued releasing an incredible collection of heavy metal masterpieces over the years, as well as building a loyal fan base via successful worldwide tours.

“We are pumped to have Omen join the DSN family” said DSN Music President Guy Giuliano. “Omen was one of the pioneers of the power metal genre and we’re proud to give them a global platform for their latest offerings”.

Omen enjoyed national broadcast airplay from the famed rock radio network Z-Rock, thanks to the devotion of high profile jocks like Madd Maxx Hammer, Wild Bill Scott, and Jason Lee Tipton. “Omen’s Thorn in Your Flesh was getting a lot of airplay and their sound created a lot of excitement and generated great phones!” said Tipton. Records sales soared in markets where the Z-Rock network was carried, fueling a national following for the group.

“We are seeing a new generation of rockers worldwide discovering Omen via digital technology and other forms of entertainment media” said Giuliano. Omen’s classic single “The Axeman” from their debut release “Battle Cry” was recently featured on the soundtrack for the heavy metal themed video game “Brütal Legend”.

Omen’s “Hammer Damage” is scheduled for a summer release and will be available via online and mobile stores such as, iTunes,, Verizon, and hundreds more worldwide.

Devilstone open air: solid and diverse

April 20th, 2011
by EvilG

Devilstone open air, for the third time to happen on July 15-17, 2011, reports a credible storm coming as wild steel winds pledges rising all over the world.  With thrash hurricanes coming from British Islands, shining forces from Scandinavia, and extreme heat from Italy, the vigorous clash in Dainuva valley is destined.

Intrepid Irish GAMA BOMB ignored the pagan black trend in their country and paid homage to thrash metal. The band remains loyal to their inspiration sources including horror, action, and sci-fi films, animation and PC games. Thus, peculiar humour transpierces their lyrics and music distinguishes in fast rhythmic instrumental parts with a vocal interchanging between aggressiveness and squeaking falsetto.

Other masters of fast tempos come with solo parts infused with outstanding Dave Silver vocals and promise to be the brightest discovery of the year.  SAVAGE MESSIAH boldly head for their first performance in the Baltic area bringing their latest album and vigorous sound.

Since “Terrorizer” readers elected MUTANT the best unsigned band of 2010, performance invitations grew rapidly. The band already has a solid background in the field as they played at the biggest UK festivals Bloodstock, Hammerfest, and Damnation. After conquering Home Island, the only way forward is go continental and Devilstone offers an excellent place to start.

The Grand Reunion will be celebrated loudly as OCTOBER TIDE returns to the big stage carrying full vessels of energy. At Devilstone, the band intends presenting their latest album “A Thin Shell” praised by critics for atmospheric, more spatial, and qualitative sound. But since it is the first time OCTOBER TIDE performs in Baltic region and fans still remember the madness caused by “Rain Without End”, we hope musicians will infuse some good old tunes in their performance. As OCTOBER TIDE are one of the strongest and most elite delegates of doom/death metal, indubitably their performance is bound to be perfect and mesmerising.

More scandalous, provocative, and eccentric dose of metal is guaranteed by FORGOTTEN TOMB. We heard of their weird and immoral speeches followed by a gesture, we heard of their self-infliction, self-destruction, and depression, and we shall recognize the sarcasm and self-pointing irony. As their latest album is nearly ripened, the fans can expect to hear new prophecies of bold intolerance and hatred towards the weak, the naive, and the conformists in the society.

And last but not least, ONDSKAPT, a band once blessed with Niklas Kvarforth’s (Shining) creative input and priding in three released albums throughout existence. Their qualitative Swedish black metal and authoritative lyrics proclaim their personal approach towards the values, human being, life and death. Line-up next is HELLISH OUTCAST with charismatic Torbjørn “Thebon” Schei (Keep of Kalessin) at the front. Norwegians playing modern thrash metal cannot brag in album plenitude, but promise an aggressive show during their live performance.

Standard ticket price is 23 Euro and great discounts available for groups. Tickets can be purchased at and alternatively, at The standard price will increase later on.

Facts and Roots

– The previous Devilstone open air festivals featured worldwide famous bands including SEPULTURA, MAYHEM, KEEP OF KALESSIN, GRAVE, TANKARD, SINISTER, CODE, to name but few.

– The festival’s title arose from a local legend. It is said that a devil carried a huge stone aiming to crush Anyksciai’ church. As the dawn broke a rooster sang scaring the hell out of the devil. Running for the hideout he threw the stone aside where it lies up to date. One can visit the landmark titled Puntukas in a meadow of the Anyksciai Regional Park.

– The festival ground is located on the riverside of Sventoji (Lithuanian word for “The Saint One”) in the valley of Dainuva. The distance to the town centre is roughly 1 kilometre.

Already confirmed artists for Devilstone 2011:

ALCEST [France]

GAMA BOMB [Ireland]

OBTEST [Lithuania]

PARALYTIC [Lithuania]

MUTANT [England]

Gravehill Set To Release When All Roads Lead To Hell Through Dark Descent & Chaos Records; Artwork & Tracklist Revealed

April 20th, 2011
by EvilG

The following was issued by California-based death horde GRAVEHILL in regards to their forthcoming album, When All Roads Lead To Hell, and the band’s new label situation. GRAVEHILL has spent the past several months in seclusion finishing our new album.

When all Roads Lead to Hell. We had several songs already written before we undertook the “Campaign Tour” last summer. When we invited Hellfiend (aka Matt Harvey of Exhumed) to join the band full time, we spent the time necessary to either “re-evaluate” or completely ditch what we had. Thankfully most of the music was used and with Hellfiend’s input we felt we had eight songs worthy of recording.

We entered Trench Studios in March 2011 with John Haddad and laid down all drums, guitars, bass and vocals… most of the tracking was pretty effortless and relaxed, we either had an idea of what we wanted or we’re just really good at convincing each other we knew what we were doing? The most common question asked regarding this record is “How does it compare to Rites of the Pentagram?” All bands always respond with “This is the best record we’ve ever done, the last album pales in comparison and blah blah blah…” The best way to respond to that is simply “Ryan Butler!” When we left Trench Studios making the RotP record we were happy with the result, obviously some things could have been better or even worse if you think about it? But the song writing and over all rawness of the band did shine through! However by 86’ing Zyklon-A out of the band last summer and bringing in Hellfiend just offered a wealth of alternatives, one of them being the new Exhumed record All Guts, No Glory! Ryan Butler of Arcane Digital did all the guitar, bass and vocal tracking for that record. Hearing the wall of guitars really made an easy decision to provide the WARLTH record to Ryan to mix and master. We also laid down four guitar rhythm tracks unlike the two we used on RotP! The end result is this heavy as fuck, pissed off, intense, faster and dare I say “mature” record? Considering all the trials and tribulations we had with RotP as well as a less than stellar line-up; up to this point anyway, When All Roads Lead to Hell might as well be our first record! We are that proud of this record, love it or hate it, we have made the best fucking Death Metal record we ever wanted to hear!

When it came to deciding on who would be releasing this album we had an easy decision with DARK DESCENT RECORDS. Matt Calvert came highly recommended and after a few short discussions we made accordance for a May 20th CD release; right in time for our appearance at The Maryland Death Fest! Drummer Thorgrimm had this to say about DARK DESCENT RECORDS:

“We are very lucky to find one of the hardest working labels out there right now! They may be a small upstart label but Matt’s work ethic and care in his bands and his label is impeccable! We are very confident that this release will reach far beyond our previous work and are very glad that Dark Descent is leading the way! HAIL HELL!”

“I was extremely intrigued to hear the new songs the band had come up with when I was approached by them to release the new album. What I heard was dedication to not only produce great songs but the ability to capture the true spirit of metal. Dark Descent Records is very excited to be a part of “When All Roads Lead to Hell.” – Matt Calvert of Dark Descent Records

GRAVEHILL are also very happy to announce that When All Roads Lead to Hell.  It will also see a 12″ vinyl release with Chaos Records! Our friend Victor Hernandez Gil made us an offer we couldn’t refuse, and seeing this release on Vinyl is very important to GRAVEHILL! Look for its release in early July 2011! Vocalist Mike Abominator made the following comments about Chaos Records:

“We needed a connection that could help us outside the U.S. So the plan was to build a strong team of death that could help us spread our plague worldwide. Victor and Chaos Records were our first choice to attack down in Mexico. We have the utmost respect for the Mexican metal fans and look forward to infecting even more down there! It was a great surprise that Victor also had connections set up in Europe as well, so we killed 2 posers with one stone so to speak! Europa will also be infected now! Hail Victor and Chaos Records for being a part of our Horde of Death!”

Victor Hernandez Gil of Chaos Records states:

“It’s great to welcome GRAVEHILL to the Chaos Records Familia, we cannot wait to release the vinyl version of “When All Roads Lead to Hell.” GRAVEHILL have developed themselves over the past few years as one of the most exciting live acts in the American Metal scene. Many thanks to Gravehill for their trust in Chaos Records! Horns up!!” .

When All Roads Lead To Hell will be out on May 20th (with the vinyl treatment coming in July).

CANNABIS CORPSE: Announce Release Date for New LP

April 20th, 2011
by EvilG
CANNABIS CORPSE Announce Release Date for “Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise” LP
Richmond, VA’s CANNABIS CORPSE have risen from the embers once again, and this time, no one is safe. The bong-huffing death metal menace have completed work on their brand-new full-length record, entitled Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shall Rise. The album will see a July 12, 2011 release from the mighty TANKCRIMES, who also unleashed the band’s much-loved The Weeding EP back in 2009. In addition, CANNABIS CORPSE have several live actions in the works; the band features various members of MUNICIPAL WASTE, PARASYTIC, BATTLEMASTER, and VOLTURE, so you know these dudes can throw down live!

On this record, CANNABIS CORPSE have ventured even further down the left-hand path to pay homage to those other masters of death, MORBID ANGEL and DEICIDE. Tongue-in-cotton-mouthed-cheek titles like “Lunatic of Pot’s Creation” and “Immortal Pipes” keep the party rolling, but don’t be fooled: CANNABIS CORPSE are not a joke band. Sure, they’ll fire up a bowl and chug a beer, but then they’ll rip your face off with a brutal old-school death metal assault, the likes of which haven’t been seen since the seeds of the genre first began to grow.

Mixed by Erik Rutan at Mana Studios and mastered by Alan Douches at West Side Music, Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shall Rise was recorded by the band’s own Phil “Landphil” Hall, and reeks of DIY putrefaction.

Happy 4/20 – the time to smoke is now!

After fifteen years of gothic rock/metal LACUNA COIL can safely be called a household name on the heavy music scene and what better place to blow out fifteen candles than on the GMM stage! Shapely frontwoman Cristina Scabbia narrowly missed out on the title of ‘Sexiest Female’ in Kerrang’s 2010 readers’ poll – much to the chagrin of many a male metalhead we might add. As for the music, Lacuna Coil follows a tried and tested recipe of contrasting voices, infectious beats and captivating melodies! (Saturday 25 June)

‘Can we make it? You bet we can!!’ has always been the credo of Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow. For over thirty years, he’s been the driving force behind ANVIL on their ongoing mission to give audiences worldwide a heavy fucking metal kick in the ass. Lips & Co are primed and ready to showcase their new record ‘Juggernaut of Justice’. Anvil is one of the select few bands whose music remains as relevant today as when they started out all those years ago. Don’t despair if you’re having no luck with the ladies; after all, an eargasm is better than nothing.(Sunday 26 June)

Static-X have played GMM twice before in the past but this time around WAYNE STATIC is going it alone to promote his solo album ‘Pighammer’. The rest of Wayne’s wall of sound will be bricked up with a number of typical Static-X classics: hard, kinky and in your face. (Sunday 26 June)

Late last year, the American metalcore band AFTER THE BURIAL released their third album with ‘In Dreams’. The album is a prime example of what modern metal should sound like. After the Burial is definitely one of the most promising young bands in metal today. One to watch out for! (Saturday 25 June)

Raw, fast, hard and unpolished are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the music of Dirty Rotten Imbeciles or D.R.I. as they are commonly known. For three decades, this American hardcore punk/crossover thrash band has enjoyed a well-earned cult status. Thanks to little gems like ‘Dealing with It’, ‘Crossover’ and ‘Four of a Kind’, their music appeals to punk, hardcore and metal fans alike. The pioneers of crossover are still a force to be reckoned with and they will come, see and conquer old school style! (Sunday 26 June)

Even more old school punk/hardcore violence with THE DWARVES. In the mid-eighties, this American band shook the underground with their raw mix of garage rock, punk and hardcore. Following a seven-year hiatus, the depraved gang is primed and ready for the next round. Fans of pure and unadulerated punk rejoice! (Friday 24 June)

The DIO DISCIPLES are coming to town! Simon Wright, Craig Goldy and Rudy Sarzo have launched a Ronnie James Dio tribute project under the moniker Dio Disciples. Vocalists Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (Malmsteen, Judas Priest, Iced Earth) and Toby Jepson (Little Angels, GUN) are to share lead vocalist duties and are two of the few singers capable of doing Dio justice. Wendy Dio announced the tribute project herself, claiming that “there will never be another Dio but we wanted to keep the music alive”. We have no doubt the Dio Disciples will do just that. (Friday 24 June)

Formed in 1980, THE RODS declared war on disco with their traditional heavy metal sound. Over a six-year period, The Rods released eight albums full of raw, powerful and uncompromising energy and they toured with some of the world’s biggest metal acts, such as Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Judas Priest and Metallica. The Rods disbanded in 1986 only to reform twenty years later. Today, the power trio are back with (a) ‘Vengeance’, their first release in a quarter century… (Friday 24 June)

Apart from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, we are also glad to confirm THE BLACK SPIDERS for GMM2011! Last year, this new British band won Metal Hammer’s ‘Best Underground Band’ category and their sound is sure to appeal to the fans of Black Sabbath, The Stooges and Turbonegro! (Saturday 25 June)
