German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have issued the following update:
“R.I.P. Steve Lee (GOTTHARD) – on of the greatest singers in our world and a friend is gone…
After 15 shows we’ve arrived in Finland after a rough ferry ride through the night. We’re looking forward to the final 6 shows of the tour and the tour in Spain is just around the corner. Had a great time so far on the road and the band is in a fantastic mood. The vibe on and off stage is great – all support bands are doing a killer job.
Thx to ELVENKING and KISSIN’ DYNAMITE for a energetic time and we hope to see you soon again! Now we’re preparing for the final six shows starting tonight in Tampere, Finland.
Aside of being a member of the just released new HALFORD album, Made Of Metal, guitarist Metal Mike Chlasziak delivered two outstanding crushing guitar tracks for Ralf’s forthcoming solo album and the songs ‘Locked In The Dungeon’ and ‘Dynasty’.
Great job Mike and all the best for your tour in Japan!”
Primal Fear’s complete live itinerary can be found the band’s official website www.primalfear.de
NEVERMORE/SANCTUARY singer Warrel Dane spoke with Jay Nanda Thesilvertongueonline.com recently about a number of topics. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
The Silver Tongue: Why have you chosen to reform Sanctuary after 20 years, especially with Nevermore doing so well?
Dane: “Well, I said years ago that it would never, ever, ever fuckin’ happen, but that was at a time when we weren’t really friendly with each other. But we are now. “Water under the bridge” would be the best way to describe our relationship, and I’ve heard some of the new material Lenny (Rutledge) the guitar player has been working on, and it’s fuckin’ killer. So I had to re-evaluate the situation. It’s kinda weird, because Nevermore has been doing so well.”
The Silver Tongue: So was the grunge factor of the early ’90s the reason for Sanctuary’s casualty after Refuge Denied and Into The Mirror Black, or was there something more to it?
Dane: “You know, I’m pretty sure that did affect the break-up in some way. The songwriting got a little weird toward the end, and at that time, there was a lot of pressure, especially from record company people saying, ‘Well, I expected something a little grungier.’ Ugh! ‘We’re not a grunge band!’ When you have a major label telling you that, it just goes to show that they’re so fuckin’ clueless.”
The Silver Tongue: What did you guys learn early in your career from (MEGADETH’s) Dave Mustaine as he produced the first Sanctuary record?
Dane: “Oh boy, that whole period is kind of a drunken blur (laughs). I think every band gets a break somewhere, and to make it in the music business, you get your foot in the door. We were fuckin’ lucky that Mustaine paid attention to us. Had it not been for him, I probably would not be talking to you right now, so I have to give much respect to him for that. We were at a KING DIAMOND/Megadeth show, and Lenny gave somebody a demo, and he heard it, and we were told he said, ‘I’d like to produce you guys.’ And we were like, ‘Yeah, right.’ But he must’ve been serious, because we got the call, and the rest is just crazy history.”
The Silver Tongue: Will Sanctuary be working on another album, or is the cruise a one-off reunion thing? Will every original member be part of it?
Dane: “We’re gonna do another record, but I’m not sure when we’re going to have time because the touring cycle for Nevermore just started, and it’s going to get crazy. (Guitarist) Sean (Blosl) didn’t really want to do it basically, so Jeff (Loomis), who was actually a member of Sanctuary at the end, is going to do it live. I’m not sure he’ll be recording, though. That band was about Lenny, and Nevermore was more about Jeff, so we try to keep both of those separate.
Mumbai based Death Metal band ‘Reptilian Death’ have revealed their brand new logo on their Youtube Channel. (www.youtube.com/reptiliandeath) The logo has been created by none other than Michal ‘Xaay’ Loranc who recently did the logo for Mumbai metallers Demonic Resurrection and has also worked with the likes of Nile, Behemoth, Vader and Karl Sanders.
The band has also uploaded a drum practice session of two new tracks. Reptilian Death is the solo/side project of Demonic Resurrection frontman ‘Demonstealer’ that started out as a humorous death metal outfit but later turned more serious. Reptilian Death has been inactive since 2006 after the release of their EP ‘Intestinal Feast’. The band has not revealed if there are new members but is currently in the studio starting work on their untitled second album which is due for release in the summer of 2012.

The terrifying artwork depicted on the cover of OCEANO‘s November 9th release, CONTAGION was created by Dusty Peterson. Known for his work with BLOODBATH, SIX FEET UNDER and CATTLE DECAPITATION, the band sought him out as they are fans of his work. In the end, the band felt they couldn’t have had made a better choice in an artist. “Adam was particularly excited about the interior artwork to the album when I showed him,” says Dusty. “He said something about some lyrics that he had written that matched up with it perfectly. The concept of theirs is very vivid, just like the artwork!”
So how exactly did Dusty go about taking things from concept to the final product presented on the album? As the artist himself puts it: “At the start, Oceano had a very specific, lengthy concept that was based off of all of their lyrics. After considering the message that they wanted to convey, I basically dug deep into my horror movie interests and tried to make something that told the story of a government-caused viral outbreak but with a classic, old-school feel. I really wanted it to be colorful and eye-popping, but also very unsettling. I referenced everything from 28 days later to Dawn and Day of the Dead to classic Death album covers.”
Produced by Zeuss (MUNICIPAL WASTE, THE ACACIA STRAIN, HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL), the new album, CONTAGION spreads in North America November 9th. Take one look at the track list and fans will get a brief taste of the destructive tale to be unfolded within:

02. Viral Re-Animation
03. Regulated Disposal Of Life
05. The Contaminated
06. Exist In Confinement
07. Persuasive Oppression

CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE Partner With Bloody-Disgusting To Present Exclusive Debut of The Scathing New Track “Path of A Traitor”; On Tour Now With Suicide Silence
Brutally unrelenting, savagely intense and downright uncompromising should be CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE’s mission statement as this band aims straight for the jugular with a barrage of frenetic riffs and a bottom end that will make your heart sink to your feet. This is the new face of extreme metal and the future never looked so bright. The Sacramento, CA quintet’s vicious new offering, Revenants (set for an Oct. 25th release), is bound to create some buzz within the metal scene and you don’t want to miss them on tour with Suicide Silence all this month. Be sure to visit www.myspace.com/conductingfromthegrave now to view the entire tour schedule. Also, look for CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE on tour with Arsis and Powerglove this Dec.
Jeffery Morgan (vocals) further states: “The overlying theme of ‘Path of A Traitor’ deals with betrayals of friendship or trust through manipulating and taking advantage those who do not stop them from doing so, and in the end, the justice the betrayer deserves. The song starts out with a visualization of all of the misdeeds that have led to persecution and ends with the traitor being brought to justice, hence the line ‘you fucking traitor, there shall be justice when you burn alive.’ Overall, the lyrics are fairly generalized with some of Mikey’s personal experience tied in. We’ve all been betrayed at some point and have desired vengeance and retribution. That is what this song is about.
“We are currently out on the ‘Time To Bleed Tour’ with Suicide Silence, My Children My Bride, Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza and Molotov Solution. So far the tour has been amazing. All of the people on the package are awesome and we’re all having a lot of fun. Not only is Suicide Silence probably the biggest headliner we have gone out with but they are also probably the most down to earth band and and are very cool to us. On this tour we are playing a little bigger venues than we have previously been used to. Having bigger stages to run around on has helped our live show a bit too. The crowds have been very responsive to our new material. We’re all counting down the days till October 25th. We can’t wait to unleash Revenants on the music world.”
Prog-Sphere.com has posted an extensive interview with acclaimed guitarist Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, BLOTTED SCIENCE, SPASTIC INK). In it, Jarzombek talks about everything from his early days with S.A. SLAYER, also featuring current MACHINE HEAD drummer Dave McClain, to his feelings on jazz music, and the upcoming BLOTTED SCIENCE EP which will be the group’s first recording with new drummer Hannes Grossmann (OBSCURA, ex-NECROPHAGIST).
On S.A. SLAYER: “We used to play around Texas with WatchTower and Helstar quite a bit. It was more of a straight ahead metal kind of thing. I wore black spandex and a leather vest (which was actually made out of vinyl – LOL) and I always felt a bit out of place, but went along with it because it was a cool gig. The other guys in the band were listening to Motorhead and Iron Maiden while I was into Rush. It all was working pretty well until Don (Van Stavern) and Dave (McClain) decided that they wanted to form a band with Mark Reale from Riot, which fell apart almost as soon as it started. S.A. Slayer was then over and I was I in WatchTower shortly after, which was just fine with me, although I had a bitch of a time trying to fill Billy (White)’s shoes.”
On jazz: “Sometimes my music is described as jazz, which I do not hear at all. I’m not a fan of jazz and actually whenever I try to work with heavily influenced jazz guys, I have problems. If a musician isn’t grounded in rock or metal and they have a bunch of jazz wanker guys listed as their influences, a bright red flag goes up for me. Don’t get me wrong, I totally respect and admire players like Larry Carlton, Allan Holdsworth, Al DiMeola, Frank Gambale, etc. but I don’t want to write/play with drummers and bass players who don’t have clue what they are supposed to be playing in a rock/metal context. Figure out all your widdling going-nowhere-crap on your own time, then when you figure out what you’re going to play, THEN hit the record button.” On BLOTTED SCIENCE: “We incorporated the ‘Circle Of 12 Tones’ writing system that Alex and I we are still using, and actually have a pretty interesting thing going. On the upcoming EP we have a VERY cool concept of what we are writing music to, and to be quite honest I don’t think any band has done it before. I’ve dabbled in it before with Spastic Ink, but this is EXTREME! and I’m sure this will knock people’s socks off. It’s a little too involved to do a whole album, so we’re going to see how all goes with this EP.” The full interview can be viewed at http://www.prog-sphere.com/2010/10/04/ron-jarzombek-the-one-who-sets-the-difference/ For more info visit: www.ronjarzombek.com

Sacred Oath will release the brand new album World On Fire as an iTunes exclusive on Tuesday October 26th – just in time for Halloween. The deluxe bundle includes 11 songs and a PDF of the cover art, lyrics and liner notes.
The album was produced by singer/guitarist Rob Thorne at his studio in Connecticut during February and March this year. “I couldn’t be happier with how this album turned out,” says Thorne, who has produced all but one of Sacred Oath’s albums. “It was important to me that this album have its own sonic character. It really stands head and shoulders above anything we’ve done yet. I hope the fans will love it.”
This is Sacred Oath’s fourth studio album. Running time is 58:11. Track listing is as follows:

TWISTED SISTER LIVE IN WACKEN THE REUNION- DVD/CD
For those who “stayed hungry” for the riotous rock of Long Island’s loudest band, Eagle Rock Entertainment are ready to satiate! Twisted Sister: Live In Wacken – The Reunion will be unleashed as a DVD/CD set on October 26, 2010. [MSRP $19.98] Twisted Sister established itself as a band to be heard AND seen. Their instantly recognizable image, fiery live shows, and a string of highly successful albums loaded with defiant anthems rocketed them to stardom before their split in the late eighties. In 2003, the classic line-up of lead vocalist Dee Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie “Fingers” Ojeda, bassist Mark “The Animal” Mendoza, and drummer AJ Pero joined forces yet again and took the stage at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. 110 minutes thick with riffage and rebellion, this DVD/CD reissue of the concert, which was previously released in 2005, was the first filmed performance of the fully revitalized, post-millenial Twisted Sister.
Live In Wacken is the full experience of the band’s reunification. Fans are treated not only with live footage of Wacken on the DVD, but snippets of other performances and interviews chronicling the story of their reunion after so many years. The accompanying CD, Live…Past & Present, completes the package, encapsulating the band’s history with vintage live tracks from Detroit and Porchester in 1980, London in 1982, and the 2003 Wacken performance.
“The Kids Are Back” indeed.
