Party metal, when played with vim, vigor and bona fide talent, can be extremely enjoyable. Whether it’s Municipal Waste giving shout outs to excessive beer consumption or A Life Once Lost’s less cerebral excursions, party metal definitely conjures up the notion of good times and, in those of us with slightly less fortitude, the urge to crack a coupla PBRs becomes unbearably necessary. London, Ontario’s Baptized In Blood are storming the scene with their self titled major label debut (Roadrunner Records) and, if you don’t crack a cold one while banging yer head to one of many metallic anthems on this glossy disc, you may not actually be a metalhead. Metal-Rules.com recently caught up with guitarist Josh Torrance to get a glimpse into what it’s like to go from jamming with your buddies for fun to being courted by the one and only Dave Mustaine. Remember that cheesy flick RockStar from a few years back? Mark Wahlberg ain’t got nothing on Baptized In Blood.
The third Black Mass Ritual festival was arranged in the famous rock club in the heart of Helsinki called Dante’s. The three day festival offered a great dissection of the most brutal death/black bands emerging from the extreme scene. Each night had a known band from the underground headlining the event and several other bands literally slayed. Here is the brief article of the Black Mass Ritual III.

Heaven and Hell Records are happy to announce the addition of New Jersey’s best kept secret Core Device. The high energy progressive power metal outfit formed in the late 90s and released their first demo ‘Raped’ in 1997. The following year the self released ‘God and Man’ EP was met with great response and word began to spread quickly amongst the metal community worldwide. A second three song demo would be released in 2004. By this time a good buzz was heard all throughout the metal underground. In 2004 Core Device self released their debut full length ‘Our Fellowship Eternal’, produced by Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo. The release was met with overwhelming response by fans and label interest began to peak. To support the release extensive gigging through the U.S., Canada, and even a self financed tour in Japan followed. An amazing number of units sold for an independent metal band. Over the next couple of years Core Device would prove they would do whatever took to achieve their desired outcome. As anticipation for a follow up began to build, mainly in Europe and Japan the band returned home to begin recording their long awaited sophomore effort ‘What I’ve Become’.
In early 2011 Heaven and Hell Records will release CD version of Core Device ‘What I’ve Become’.

“It was a spontaneous idea. The response to ‘Battle Hymns 2011’ has been massive! We received it almost in real time via Facebook, literally moments after the fans downloaded the album at its first day of release from The Kingdom Of Steel. So we wanted to thank them immediately”, said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio.
From touring requests to discussions about beer, bikes, girls and guitars to comments on the new album ‘Battle Hymns 2011’; the topics were diverse and both fans and band had a great time.
“We had a blast!” said vocalist Eric Adams after the session ended. “Nothing can compare to meeting the fans face to face – but the direct interaction on the internet comes as close as it gets. We’ll definitely do this again!”

British thrashers EVILE recently announced a headlining UK tour, which kicks off in February 2011.
If you’ve ever dreamed of playing a show with such an awesome band, now is your chance! EVILE, in conjunction with Metal Hammer and MySpace, are offering you and your band the chance to support the nation’s finest thrash heroes at one of their upcoming UK shows.
To be in with a chance of winning this incredible opportunity, simply submit your band’s MySpace URL to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Evile Live”, followed by the city in which you’d like to support EVILE. All entries must be received by December 31st.
EVILE themselves will choose the best three bands for each city and the readers of Metal Hammer online will then vote to decide which band gets to support EVILE at each show.
EVILE frontman MATT DRAKE comments:
“Today we are about to experience Thanksgiving in America on one of our rare days off on tour and we are looking ahead to getting home and having a relaxing Christmas with the people we are closest to, but we don’t want to forget about the other people who are important to us, our UK fans, so we have decided to try a different way of finding some support bands for our upcoming UK mini tour.
“Bands can send us their MySpace links and we will be going through them all to choose the bands we like that will open the shows in February. Knowing our luck this will somehow backfire in a hideous way but it will be fun to try! We are looking forward to listening to all the bands and getting some good UK metal on the shows with us.
“Happy Thanksgiving from America and we will see you in February!”
The full dates for EVILE’s UK tour are as follows:
09 February 2011 – Manchester, UK – Academy 3
10 February 2011 – Newcastle, UK – Academy
11 February 2011 – Glasgow, UK – Cathouse

The Metal Den has obtained a rare Randy Rhoads guitar solo that was part of the OZZY show that was recorded live in Cleveland, Ohio on May 11, 1981. However, unlike the majority of songs from that night that were ultimately used for OZZY OSBOURNE’s Tribute album released in 1987, Rhoads’ legendary guitar solo spot in “Suicide Solution” featured on the classic live record is actually taken from another show that took place in Montreal, Quebec on July 28, 1981.

It’s been quite an eventful year for High On Fire’s guitarist/vocalist/frontman Matt Pike. This past February the Oakland, California trio unleashed their highly acclaimed fifth full length album "Snakes For The Devine", their first effort for E1 Music, having parted ways with longtime record label Relapse Records on good terms. Earlier this year, Matt Pike played a string of dates with his old band Sleep much to the delight of stoner/doom metal everywhere, many who may have been too young to ever witness the band live in their heyday. Metal-Rules.com caught up with Matt prior to High On Fire’s earth shaking performance at this year’s "Fun Fun Fun Fest" in Austin, Texas and he brought us up to speed on all of the latest happenings in the HOF camp…
