SCALE THE SUMMIT formed in 2005 while attending the Musicians’ Institute in Los Angeles. The band relocated to Texas in 2006, where they recorded their first, self-released album. After signing with Prosthetic, they released “Carving Desert Canyons”, which Revolver called, “a cinematic blast of intricately melodic fretwork and pummeling percussion,” in 2009.
The band, who received praise from Guitar World for their “tightly-woven guitar interplay, irregular time signatures and tasteful licks,” has toured with the likes of PROTEST THE HERO, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, CYNIC, THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT and were handpicked by DREAM THEATER to participate in the 2009 installment of their famed “Progressive Nation” festival tour. SCALE THE SUMMIT has also been featured prominently in Guitar Player magazine, and has tracks available for the Rock Band video game through the Rock Band Network.
In 2010 Mexico’s legendary ZOMBIEFICATION crawled out the grave with disgust and finally released their long awaited debut album Midnight Stench on CD through Asphyxiate Recordings. Playing a rotten style of death metal that crosses the early Stockholm sound with Mexico’s own proud tradition of ancient cult death metal, you can now experience Midnight Stench on vinyl, the way it was always meant to be experienced. Chaos Records recently made available two vinyl editions of this already classic album. Inclusive of an exclusive bonus track, “Blood & Disgorge,” the LP is available in limited edition (200 copies) 350 gram vinyl with gatefold jacket and 180 gram silver vinyl. The regular LP edition is available in 350 gram black vinyl with gatefold jacket.

I was fortunate enough to cover Immortal’s concert in Brooklyn nearly a year ago, and at the time I didn’t expect I’d ever get to see them live again. But to my delight, the true sons of northern darkness came back to the States for a second tour. This time, it would be in a far superior venue to their last digs, where there wasn’t anything to keep rambunctious fans off the stage (one fan even stopped Abbath from playing to give him a hug.) It was an appropriately frigid winter night in the Big Apple, a sudden frost that dispelled what had previously been a very warm week. No doubt we can thank Immortal for bringing the icy cold of Blashyrkh with them to the States. Read the rest of this entry »
Birth A.D. are a crossover thrash metal three-piece comprised of two former members of the late nineties death metal act Death of Millions as well as bassist and vocalist Jeff Tandy of Averse Sefira. The band’s music has been compared to DRI, SOD and Corrosion of Conformity and the ten song self-released EP "Stillbirth Of A Nation" has already garnered some moderate success for the band in underground thrash circles. Bassist and vocalist Jeff Tandy recently took the time to chat with Metal-Rules.com and filled us in on the current activities of this exciting new group.

My priorities at the moment are my health & family. My future endeavors in Kamelot and music in general are being evaluated, however at this time my focus is on getting back on my feet and spending time with family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!”
With the news of Roy’s continued absence, it is announced that metal icon Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE) will be joining the tour and handling the lead vocal duties.
Fabio Lione is eager to get on the road, stating, “I am excited and pleased to be part of the next Kamelot tour..I always loved the sound of the band… and I think this will be a great experience for me, the band, and for all the fans of great music and Kamelot… see you soon on tour and let’s rock!!!”

SLAYER were forced to cancel yesterdays appearance at the Soundwave Festival in Sydney, Australia after singer Tom Araya had been hospitalized. Tom’s wife, Sandra Araya, now issued the following statement on her Facebook page:
“SPOKE WITH TOM =) He’s feeling much better! it will be a few days before test results come back… That’s all I can say for now! whoo hoo!”
“Tom does not have a ear infection! Not sure who came up with this, but it is not true… They are waiting on test results… If [the ear-infection explanation] is coming from the promoter, I am sure he is only saying what he was told!”
According to Soundwave Festival promoter AJ Madda Tom “will be OK” for the next Soundwave show in Melbourne on Friday, March 4th.
Slayer recently recruited Gary Holt from San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS as a temporary fill-in in for Jeff Hanneman who is currently recovering from surgery. Holt is accompanying Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums) on their Australian Soundwave Festival tour, which kicked off on Saturday, February 26 in Brisbane.

Artwork and design by Hippograffix.
“RETURN TO LIVE: Loud Park 2010” is now available for pre-order at Amazon.co.jp
Furthermore, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS will play two headline shows in Japan in March.
Commented drummer Ludwig Witt: “We had a great time in Japan performing at the two massive Loud Park ’10 concerts in October alongside OZZY, MOTÖRHEAD, etc.
“Our first new album in five years (2010’s ‘Return To Zero’) has been really well received by the Japanese fans and we can’t wait to go back and play the full headline set at our own, more intimate, club dates in Osaka and Tokyo in March.”
KAOTEON released through the much respected OSMOSE PRODUCTIONS their debut album “VENI VIDI VOMUI”.
VVV was recorded and mixed at Mixdown Studios in the bullet-scarred city of Beirut, while mastering took place at Unisound studios (Sweden) by none other than Dan Swanö (BloodBath, Unicorn, Edge of Sanity, Diabolical Masquerade, Pan.Thy.Monium, Nightingale, Katatonia, etc…).
“Forged in the Middle East where Terror and War never rest; the Lebanese Extreme Black/Death Metal band KAOTEON brings forth their first full length record with Osmose Productions to blast your ears and damage your minds. This kaotik opus is titled Veni Vidi Vomui, which translates to I came, I saw, I vomited.
KAOTEON’s full length is a statement of anger and disgust towards civil wars, terrorism, invasions, sectarianism, and deceit. These themes are dissected throughout their lyrics to project Lebanon’s daily life.
Several bands wrote about the ripping political and religious instability in the middle east but KAOTEON lives it to this day. From Shrieks, Low Grunts, and High Pitched vocals to fast and mind blowing blasts, this is a not to miss record for every Extreme Metal fan that enjoy uncompromising metal riffs.
This is going to be an unmatched statement of hatred. Zero tolerance.”
Words from the band: “Expect nothing but utter brutality, unseen anger and solemn disgust. The black hearted beast of KAOTEON is back and will burn everything that stands in its way, for the fires of hell rages within our hearts.”
“Imagine the blasting sound of supernovae compressed on a disk to serve as the soundtrack for the end of this wretched universe – This is what Veni Vidi Vomui sounds like!”
“Tom Araya has been hospitalized after yesterdays show in Brisbane, Australia. Reports say that the hospital is keeping him in over the night. As a result of this Slayer’s appearance today at the Soundwave Festival has been cancelled. Why this has happened is not clear so far, rumors say it has to do with his surgery early last year, but these are only rumors. Keep checking back here!”
Needless to say, fans were NOT too happy (see the video from below). Watch this space for updates.
SLAYER, 22.06.2010. Sofia Rocks, powered by Sonisphere Festival
Brian Forsythe is best known for his work with successful U.S rockers Kix. The band started its career in the late 70’s with the classic line up of Brian Forsythe, vocalist Steve Whiteman, guitarist Ronnie Younkins, drummer Jimmy Chalfant and bassist Donnie Purnell. They released such hard rock classics as MIDNITE DYNAMITE, BLOW MY FUSE and HOT WIRE. Brian left the band in 1992 but he briefly returned to play in Kix’s final studio release SHOW BUSINESS which was released in 1995. After some touring Brian left again and the whole band slowly disbanded until they decided to reform Kix without Donnie in 2004. Since then Kix have been playing some shows every then and now including Rocklahoma Festival in 2008. But there’s been more than just Kix in his musical journey. In addition to many projects during the years he’s currently playing with rockin’ country band The Shakehandlers as well as with blues band The Purple Gang but the main band for Brian currently is definitely Rhino Bucket.
Rhino Bucket was originally formed in 1987 and band find some great success with its 1990 s/t debut album. The sophomore album GET USED TO IT was released in 1992 but it failed to reach its predecessors success. PAIN, which featured former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright, came out in 1994 but soon band called it’s quits before returning again in 2001 with original members Georg Dolivo bassist Reeve Jones, drummer Liam Jason (who had changed his sex and was now called Jackie Enx!) and Brian who was now invited to join the bands ranks to replace Greg Fields. A new lineup released its first album AND THEN IT GOT UGLY in 2006 and THE HARDEST TOWN followed in 2009. The latter once again featured Simon Wright on drums. The bands latest release WHO’S GOT MINE saw the light of day in January of 2011 and soon after, for the first time ever, the band arrived in Finland to play a series of club shows around the country. Brian kindly sat down with us before the bands show in Helsinki and here are the results of our little conversation. Topics include, of course, the latest from Rhino Bucket camp and well as some Kix stuff as well… Read on!
