In Solitude "The World. The Flesh. The Devil"

Uppsala Sweden’s IN SOLITUDE have set the track Serpents Are Rising as the group’s first single off their upcoming debut full-length The World. The Flesh. The Devil, in stores everywhere May 24. Decibel Magazine is hosting the exclusive premier on their website so be sure to check it out and leave a comment on the track.

Vocalist Hornper comments on the behalf of IN SOLITUDE: “Certain fragments of Serpents are Rising are among the oldest parts of The World. The Flesh. The Devil and the song was steadily taking form throughout the whole writing and recording process, and the last parts were put together just minutes before it was recorded. It is certainly one of the more straight-forward and stabbing-paced songs on the album and I think it’s a worthy representative of that erupting energy of the album, as well as the self-sacrifice made. The poem was written by Viusiudad (of Reveal) and was given a title and put in song-context myself. And like everything with brother Viusiudad; a strange, holy and collaborative effort. Blessings to him! And the poem deals with the ever-present, ever-guiding and ever-rising inner serpent.”

Pre-orders for The World. The Flesh. The Devil are now live HERE: both the CD and a CD/T-shirt bundle are available.

On tour now alongside PENTAGRAM in Europe!!

Ipsissimus: first single off "The Way of Descent"

Ipsissimus: first single off "The Way of Descent"

“The Third Secret of Fatima” exclusive premier with Stereo Gum’s Haunting the Chapel! Pre-orders now live!

Agoura Hills, CA – April 18th, 2011 – The New Haven, CT based blasphemers IPSISSIMUS have selected the track The Third Secret of Fatima as the band’s first single off the band’s Metal Blade debut, The Way of Descent (out May 24). The track can be heard exclusively on Stereo Gum’s metal column Haunting the Chapel HERE. Be sure to check out the track and leave your comment.

Drummer Haimatokharmes comments on the first single, The Third Secret of Fatima: “One of the songs Metal Blade will be promoting for the album is The Third Secret of Fatima. We are especially proud of this one on account of its synthesis of blast, melody, ritual drums, all played in the old fashion. Longtime fans know it from our self-released ‘Fatima EP’ and I must say it is the song people usually tell us is their favorite out of the trinity. The lyrics are a collaborative effort (written in English and Coptic), but they are straight old-school Satanism, a blend of blasphemy and devil-worship. Bless!”

Drummer Haimatokharmes fills us in on the artwork and layout for The Way of Descent: “IPSISSIMUS is very pleased to present the artwork for our upcoming Metal Blade debut, The Way of Descent. The cover, by Brooklyn, NY artist Micki Pellerano ( features all manner of ritual act, executed by man and beast, conjuring an apparition of the Egyptian fertility goddess Hathor. (IPSISSIMUS heartily endorses procreation as well as annihilation). I might add that the inlay features a ‘Satanic Seraph’ design, conceived by myself while reading the Niebelungenslied on a train in Rhein-Westphalia, brilliantly executed by artist Michel Jansen, of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. (I liked this so much it’s now on my drum head!) Finally, the layout was designed by Alessandra Benedetti, Brooklyn artist, editor of Heartworm Press (, and designer of 23 WLVS Press, who did a top-notch job on very little notice in giving the album a dirty yet unified look.”

Tracklisting for The Way of Descent

1. The First Secret of Fatima

2. Monakhourgia / The Prince of Tyre

3. The Second Secret of Fatima

4. The Alchemist’s Goatthrone

5. The Third Secret of Fatima

6. Hodos Autapophaseos

*tracks that were originally featured on the Fatima EP were re-recorded for The Way of Descent

Preorders for The Way of Descent are now live! Pick up your copy HERE.

ORIGIN: Studio Vlog Part 2 Now Online!

April 19th, 2011
by EvilG

Technical death masters, ORIGIN, have uploaded their second video blog chronicling the making of their  upcoming masterpiece entitled Entity. Part 2 documents John Longstrength recording his drum parts for the album. Look for Entity in both physical and digital formats on June 7 (N. America) and June 10 (Europe). Artwork (attached) was handled this time around by Colin Marks.

One of the most intense and technical forces of the contemporary death metal world, ORIGIN has returned to stake its claim as the leader of metal’s new wave of extremity with its fifth studio effort. As expected, the death grind trio of Mike Flores (bass, vocals), Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals) and John Longstreth (drums) continues to churn out frantic, hell-paced grids of metal torment, but now further complements the arrangements with a newfound propensity for churning grooves and the hook-laden approach that first reared its ugly, but accessible head on the band’s 2007 offering, Antithesis. The band once again returned to Chapman Recording Studios in Lenexa, Kansas to work with longtime engineer and friend Robert Rebeck.

As stated multiple times in the past, ORIGIN proves once again that they stand head and shoulders above their peers.

Catch the band, with their new frontman Jason Keyser, on tour with HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS and ABYSMAL DAWN in North America starting on June 15 at Emo’s in Austin, Texas. Look for ORIGIN on the road in Europe, South America, Mexico, Asia, Australia and the rest of the world in 2011 and 2012.

DIAMOND PLATE have posted a quick video update for the fans.  Watch the video at

“For the first time, we’ve been able to capture what our band is capable of.  The months of practice have payed off, and we couldn’t be prouder to release this record as our debut.  Our songs came out tighter and heavier than ever, and the crushing mix by Neil has taken our sound to an entirely new level.”

A previous message from the band while they were in the studio reads:

“Working with Neil has been incredible.  Our plan is simple: bring together great songs, playing, and production with an insane amount of energy.  We want to focus on capturing a vibe on this album that hasn’t been felt in metal in a long time.  People will be amazed at how much improvement and strength there will be on this debut.”

View two photos of DIAMOND PLATE in the studio:

DIAMOND PLATE is a young, dynamic band who have taken the midwest metal scene by storm.  Formed in 2008, the high-energy act has already earned high honours from respected outlets such as Terrorizer magazine, which named DIAMOND PLATE as one of the “Best Unsigned Bands” in the very year that the group first got together.

Toronto, ON – British Columbia hard rockers, Cold Driven are hitting the road in support of their new EP The Wicked Side of Me (Catch 23 Records/Indie Skies Entertainment) set for release via CD Baby and iTunes on May 24, 2011. Produced by Danny Craig (Default) and mixed by Dave Ogilvie (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), Cold Driven continue with their trademark vibrant, hard-hitting rock and roll sound, leading with the first single, Kingdom Come, set to hit radio May 9, 2011 (Frontside Group).

Often compared to bands including Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold and Seether, Cold Driven was formed in 2005 and includes band mates, Billy Nickell (vocals), Dennis Nickell (bass), Shane Bouthillier (guitar), Ben Bouthillier (guitar) and Jeremy McLachlan (drums). The solid foundation of a band of brothers and close friends has established the group as a fresh sound in Canadian rock music.

“Group Of The Year. Producers Of The Year. Songwriter Of The Year. People’s choice Award. High energy. Emotionally charged. Guitar driven. Hard hitting drums. Infectious vocals. Heavy rock. Young. Talented. Three sets of brothers. Welcome to British Columbia’s best kept secret. Welcome to Cold Driven.”
– Crusher Magazine

“Known for its all-out rock with pop undercurrents, industrial elements and ambient world sounds, Cold Driven has built a following at home and afar”
– Kamloops This Week

The first single Kingdom Come is deeply introspective and delves into the band’s developing sound, lyrical maturity and music influences. The fourth track on the album, Now That I’m Gone brings a softer melody with a stadium chorus that lightens their hard-rock sound. The lyrics tell a story of old love and end with the inclusion of violins that reveals another side to Cold Driven’s sound. Overall, The Wicked Side of Me encapsulates Cold Driven’s well-known sound that is drenched with guitar solos, fast pedaling drum beats and soaring vocals.

The band’s first two releases Set In Stone (2005) and Steel Chambers (2007) showcased their melodic, catchy rock sound that solidified a loyal fan base across Canada. The 2008 single, Heavier Than Heaven impacted the Canadian rock charts and the band also ranked in the final Top 5 for the 2008 Vancouver CFOX Seeds contest (Canada’s foremost respected annual rock band contest). At the 2007 Okanagan Music Awards the band was also awarded with five wins including Group Of The Year, Producers Of The Year, Engineer Of The Year, Songwriters Of The Year and Peoples Choice Award.

Having performed over 400 concerts across Canada, including shows with Finger Eleven, Tokyo Police Club, K-OS, The Trews, Danko Jones, Sam Roberts and Thornley, the band will kick off their west coast summer tour throughout Canada, playing in their hometown of Armstrong, B.C. on June 3, 2011.

British melodic death metal act THE SOULLESS (formerly IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION) are preparing for the release of their new album, ISOLATED, which hits stores in Europe on May 16th and North America on June 7th.

THE SOULLESS vocalist ANDY WARDLE discusses the album’s artwork:

“We chose Ryohei Hase for our artwork.  He did the art for Ignominious Incarceration’s album and although we wanted something quite different, we know he does an awesome job.  The guy on the front is supposed to be hung up as an outcast from society.  He is isolated which ties in with the album title and lyrical themes within.  We are really happy with the bleak colours and the overall look.”

EPICA, ReVamp @ Scala, London

EPICA with support: Revamp

@ Scala, London

15th March 2011

Review: Danny Draper

While traveling to the Scala, I was contemplating a couple of things; I hope that the sound is good and also that the singers have brought their good voice today.

I do like a female vocalist, soaring vocals over heavy guitars, gets my juices flowing as they say! But it has to be good, especially in this style of music as a poor sound or vocal performance, can turn the most beautiful of song in to the worst thing in the world.
