Kings of supreme death/black metal art, BELPHEGOR, have issued that following statement in regards to their upcoming tour with DEICIDE:
“Due to circumstances beyond the band’s control we are being forced to cancel eleven shows, since we were initially not given the green light to enter the country. We were promised that we would be fine two weeks ago, but still all the members were not got their stuff. We all tried everything to make it happen, so it’s a terrible situation. We were waiting, sharp and ready to rumble and kick serious ass, but couldn’t do anything.
The USA immigration forms are approved so now we have new visa interviews at the USA embassy in Vienna at the beginning of next week. Now we have re-schedule the flights to make it happen. We will now start the tour in Chicago, IL at Reggie’s on the 26th. We want to apologize to the demons and everyone who’s bought a ticket to see us tear the stage with Deicide. See you in Chicago!”

TEXAS – The last year has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs for the North Texas technical death metal group, The Famine. The band endured a devastating studio fire, which destroyed everything in sight, including (but not limited to) musical equipment, computers, and recorded material, followed by the departure of the band’s former vocalist, Kris McCaddon. However, as the old saying goes, what could not kill The Famine has undoubtedly made the band and its members stronger. Now armed with a fresh lineup, which includes new bassist, Jon Richardson, and the band’s former bassist, Nick Nowell, on vocals, The Famine is ready wrap up this extended chapter of its career, and forge on behind with the release of the long-awaited, The Architects of Guilt, out today on Solid State Records.
“We sacrificed so much more than time and energy to make this album,” explained Nowell. “This record cost us relationships and ended up being an accidental test of our convictions. I hope that we were able to create something indicative of those circumstances, something larger than the sum of our parts.
“Now that this album is out, we are all eying a lucrative career as the house band on a Carnival cruise ship. You only work four nights a week and you get all the shrimp cocktail you can eat. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll keep writing death metal and we’ll see you on the road.”
The Architects of Guilt, The Famine’s sophomore Solid State Records release, and follow up to 2008’s, The Raven and the Reaping, was recorded last summer in Dallas with engineer, D. Braxton Henry (ex-Devourment).
The band then handed over the tracks to renowned audio mastermind, Jason Suecof (Trivium, The Black Dahlia Murder), for mixing.
A series of behing-the-scenes video blogs, chronicling The Architects of Guilt recording process, can be seen on the official Solid State Records YouTube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/solidstaterecords.

OSLO, Norway – With nearly four weeks of their European tour under their collective belt, Mortiis is primed and ready to take on the next three weeks of the trek.
Fans are reacting enthusiastically to Mortiis’ latest incarnation – one which differs greatly from the Mortiis of the past. “It’s nothing like what Mortiis used to be a couple of years ago,” says band namesake Mortiis. “We pulled back and totally reinvented our sound, both off and on stage. Even the old er stuff we play sounds new and fresh.”
The metamorphosis of Mortiis has been continual throughout Mortiis (the artist) and Mortiis (the band)’s careers. In its current form, Mortiis shows a more aggressive side that still works cohesively with the likes of electro-evil tour-mates Combichrist. “I really think the fans are picking up on the common energy between the two bands,” Mortiis adds.
Mortiis’ set focuses material from their latest release, “Perfectly Defect,” and their upcoming release, “The Great Deceiver,” two sonically diverse records that work in unison live. “We open and close the set with ‘TGD’ songs,” Mortiis explains. “The ‘PD’ songs are in the middle of the set and, I think, visually as well as sonically, it works very well. The ‘PD’ stuff has some really dynamic moments that I know work very well visually. The ‘TGD’ songs we play are just hard and in-your-face, so there’s a lot of energy to feed from there.”
The tour has also already had the requisite mishaps that make a tour memorable.
“I think I broke (guitarist) Levi’s rib on the first show,” Mortiis says. “He slipped and went down and I stomped him pretty good. Didn’t really mean to but sometimes the adrenaline gets the better of me and it just happened. I also knocked chip out of my tooth a few days ago, which kinda sucks, but what can you do? It’s just all part of the game, I guess.”
Mortiis’ tour with Combichrist will continue through March 12.
KATAKLYSM have begun the long process of putting together elements for their upcoming 20th anniversary DVD. Titled THE IRON WILL: 20 Years Determined, this documentary will begin with the band’s inception in 1991 and tell the lasting story behind of one of the most important extreme musical exports in Canada’s short 143-year history. Director & producer Tommy Jones (Lamb Of God, Soilwork, Death Angel) will catch the band’s heartbeat on the road and to put the memories together. Expected release date is Spring 2011.
TheDVD will also include interviews with a wide range of characters, including the band’s infamous first frontman Sylvain Houde, who sang on the first three KATAKLYSM albums: The Mystical Gate Of Reincarnation (1993), Sorcery (1996), and Temple Of Knowledge (1999).
A single and a video clip for the title track “The Iron Will” will be recorded this summer. The massive content of the DVD will include KATAKLYSM’s upcoming headlining show at Summer Breeze Open Air in Germany where the band will perform classics from all of its eleven releases.
KATAKLSYM frontman Maurizio Iacono shares:
“This is something that we are doing first for ourselves to look back at the long and hard road traveled and to be grateful that twenty years later, this band is stronger than ever and still means something in the music world. It’s an accomplishment to exist this long and this DVD is dedicated to our fans who solely kept us alive in this destructive and turbulent scene. I decided to scrap my book idea (it was taking way too long and time is of the essence) and instead tell our story on THE IRON WILL in detail to get things off my chest once and for all. We’ve been the underdogs for so long and looking back, this is a good a place to be.”
In North America, 2010’s Heaven’s Venom debuted at #7 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and at #196 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, making it the highest charting album of KATAKLYSM’s career. In Europe, Heaven’s Venom debuted at #32 in Germany, #35 in Austria, and #53 in Switzerland.
KATAKLYSM also holds the honor of being the first band to have their songs feature Rock Band’s new double bass drum pedal application, available now on Rock Band versions 2 and 3. Click on the following song titles to purchase them from the RockBand Network:

Legendary alternative metal band HELMET will perform their 1992 platinum-selling release of Meantime in its entirety. The Interscope Records release gave the band mainstream attention with songs like “Unsung” and “In The Meantime”. With the band’s renewed success after getting back together in 2004, this tour will be one of the most anticipated of 2011.
One of the most highly influential Doom Metal bands in America, SAINT VITUS are regarded as one of the first bands of the genre starting out as early as the 1970’s. The band featuring Scott “Wino” Weinrich, bassist Mark Adams, guitarist Dave Chandler and drummer Henry Vasquez have influenced so many bands in Doom and Metal . “Saint Vitus is more than ready to infect The Metalliance Tour! We’ve been wanting to do something like this for some time now…so prepare for destruction!!” says lead guitarist Dave Chandler. The band has done a handful of shows and some European Festivals but this will be their first full US tour in over a decade.
CROWBAR front man Kirk Windstein concludes, “Wow! This tour is gonna rule! I’ve loved Helmet since the beginning and loved St. Vitus even longer. With the new Crowbar record having hit the streets by then, look out! This bill will bring just what we need to crush each city with an avalanche of stylistic thunder!”
Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the Self-Titled come back album from KING KOBRA on April 15th in Europe and May 5th in North America.
Formed in 1984 by legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne), Los Angeles heavy metal outfit King Kobra recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records – the 1985 release ‘Ready to Strike’ and 1986’s ‘Thrill of a Lifetime’.
Along with Carmine, the band featured four relatively unknown musicians at the time – David Michael-Philips and Mick Sweda on guitar, Johnny Rod on bass and Mark Free on lead vocals. King Kobra toured the U.S., Canada, Europe and Mexico playing shows with Kiss, Iron Maiden, Quiet Riot, Ted Nugent, Queensryche and Autograph.
The band was featured regularly on MTV and performed the theme song for the #1 1986 motion picture “Iron Eagle”. After disbanding in 1988, each member continued his career in other successful major-label groups – Carmine to Blue Murder (Geffen), Mark Free to Unruly Child (Interscope), Mick Sweda to the BulletBoys (Warner Bros.), Johnny Rod to W.A.S.P. (Capitol/EMI) and David Michael-Philips to Lizzy Borden (Metal Blade).
The year 2010 saw the band reunite the original classic ’85 lineup, replacing original singer Mark Free (now Marcie Free) with veteran lead vocalist Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot). “This album captures all the great points we had in the 80’s, but better” says Carmine Appice “The music is more traditional King Kobra music. Great lyrics, kick ass songs with cool hooks and really good playing. A really great hard rock/metal record with lots of energy”. David Michael-Phillips adds “It truly is an all-star album. Paul Shortino is amazing! I can honestly say he is one of the best vocalists in the business along with being one of the nicest and most generous people I have ever met”.
The band is planning to get on some targeted American and European summer festivals this year. Watch out: King Kobra is smokin’ hot, back stronger than ever and “Ready to Strike” once again!
The new album “King Kobra” will include the following tracks: Rock This House, Turn Up The Good (Times), Live Forever, Tear Down The Walls, This Is How We Roll, Midnight Woman, We Got A Fever, Tope Of The World, You Make It Easy, Cryin’ Turns To Rain, Screamin’ For More, Fade Away.
CHROME DIVISION, the Norwegian act featuring DIMMU BORGIR frontman Shagrath (aka Stian Thoresen) on guitar, has announced “3rd Round Knockout” as the title of their forthcoming third album, to be released in April via Nuclear Blast Records. The band recorded the new material at Marius Strand Studio in Oslo. Track titles to appear on the release include: ‘Bulldogs Unleashed’, ‘Zombies & Monsters’, ‘Fight’, ‘Join The Ride’ and ‘Unholy Roller’.
Chrome Division are confirmed for the 2011 edition of the Kings Of Black Metal Festival, scheduled for April 16th in Giessen, Germany at the Hessenhallen. Acts scheduled for the festival currently now include: ALCEST, CORPUS CHRISTII, CHROME DIVISION, DORNENREICH, ENDSTILLE, INQUISITION, TAAKE, TROLL, WATAIN. Further festival details at this location.
In conjunction with the release of CANNIBAL CORPSE’s 4th DVD, Global Evisceration, on March 15, Metal Blade Records has teamed up with BlankTV to debut the next teaser clip featuring part of a live performance of the track Stripped, Raped, and Strangled. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/blanktv. Global Evisceration was shot and edited by director Denise Korycki (Wild Wind Productions) who also shot and directed Centuries of Torment – The First 20 Years (entered the Billboard Music Video Charts at #8 in its 1st week of release!) in addition to DVD’s for bands like As I Lay Dying, Mastodon, Killswitch Engage, and Super Joint Ritual.
Global Evisceration contains one disc and is approximately 3 hours long with artwork by the infamous Vince Locke. The main program includes full live-song performances from two live shows: the Gothic Theater in Englewood, CO shot on 5/3/10 and Sunshine Theater in Albuquerque, NM shot on 5/8/10. Global Evisceration also includes bonus performances and extra segments including behind the scenes footage covering Evisceration Plague era tours.

Psychedelic doom rock band GRAVEYARD from Gothenburg, Sweden have unveiled the artwork for their second full-length studio release, Hisingen Blues. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed in 100% analog by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden. It will be out in Europe on March 25 and in North America on April 19th.
The band shares details about the album artist, Ulf Lundén:
“We wanted a cover that wasn’t your average rock/metal cover, and our friend Ulf Lundén was just the right guy to do it. We had seen his work for his own band, Bombus, and we knew he had a wild imagination. So we just let him loose. He put us up against the green screen, took his photos and that was that. A couple of weeks later, he showed us what he had done. We were astonished by his work, a perfectionist indeed. We got what we asked for, a cover that isn’t average. Rich with details, swamp/jungle feeling, weirdness and a lurking evil feel to it.”
Listen to a preview of the album’s title track, “Hisingen Blues,” here.
A limited edition 7” picture disc of the title track “Hisingen Blues” backed with the exclusive vinyl track “Granny And Davis” and featuring different artwork will be available through Nuclear Blast Germany’s mail-order on February 25th and Nuclear Blast USA’s webstore on March 15th. This release is limited to 500 copies worldwide, so keep an eye on when it goes on sale in your territory because they’ll go fast!

Withering Soul Bio:
Today’s metal market may be saturated with melodic black/extreme metal from all corners of the world, but Chicago’s Withering Soul promises to deliver on all fronts. If you want sinister screams as well as bone-chilling cleans, you’ll get them. If you want interesting time changes and climactic phrasings, you will find them here too. Add some creepy atmosphere and dueling guitars for good measure and you have No Closure, the band’s debut full length offering.
Withering Soul was founded by brothers Mykil (Vocals) and Krystofer (Guitars / Synths), and what originally started as a side project, eventually developed into a full band. The group first recruited Matt “Xaphar” Block (ex-Nachtmystium) on drums to complete their EP release, Apparitions of the Surreal (2004).
The band later added some new musicians; Marek who replaced Matt on drums, and also William on bass to complete an endless assault of live shows, sharing the stage with the legendary acts such as Enslaved, Dark Funeral, Finntroll, Satyricon, Absu and Hanzel und Gretyl to name a few. In recent news, the band was featured on ReUnation – A Tribute to Running Wild with their cover of “Firebreather.” The album was released worldwide by Germany’s Remedy Records and received positive reviews including a “Best Song on Album” by WeRock (SWE).
In keeping with their diligent work ethic, the Withering Soul is also currently writing new material for their follow up album, which will be yet another step towards their ultimate goal to leave a lasting impression on the metal world with its own brand of music.
