Polish metallers Neuronia have unveiled their new lineup, reinforced by two acknowledged musicians from Warsaw’s metal scene. The band will soon release an international version of their last album, “Follow The White Mouse”.
In mid-January 2011 Neuronia’s bass player Dominik „Domo” Beśka left the band due to time constraints. He played in Neuronia since 2006 and participated in the recording of the band’s both studio albums, as well as 2007’s “First Blood” EP. Michał “Thor” Pasternak, the band’s drummer, also left to be able to focus fully on his main band – Relikt, and thrash-metal outfit War-Saw.
‘Of course it’s a difficult situation for the band when the whole rhythm section leaves. However, we’re very happy that the split wasn’t acrimonious, there was no bad blood and we’re all still friends,’ says Michał “Misiek” Rogala, founder of the band. ‘We’re very lucky – we’ve found two great musicians in no time, and they have seamlessly found their place in the line-up. We’re even more motivated now – we feel a lot of newly-found energy,’ he adds.
Daniel ‘Beton’ Grotkiewicz has assumed bass duties. He is a seasoned musician, as well as the founder, leader and mainstay of Warsaw’s death metal horde, Mesmerize. He also plays bass in the grindcore band Anticipate and sang lead for Gortal for a time.
Marek “Deviant” Kuczyński, who also plays in the gothic-metal outfit At The Lake as well as for the grindcore band Anus Magulo, became Neuronia’s new drummer. Marek also played in Vecordia and Nailgun.
The new line-up is getting ready for spring time shows. You will have the first opportunity to witness the new Neuronia in action on Feb 25th in ComeIn, Opole next to Jelonek, Baliama and Pigs In Tank. Two days later, the same line-up of bands will appear in MegaClub, Katowice.
As a result of the line-up change, the band had to postpone the plans to record the four-track EP, which was announced in December last year. ‘But we’ll have a small surprise release ready for our fans in the spring,’ announces Maciek “Tektur” Nawrot, Neuronia’s lead singer.
The band’s recent studio album ‘Follow The White Mouse’ is set for international release via Metal Scrap Records (Ukraine). The contract for the release has been signed in mid-January. The release – which features a slightly changed sleeve design and a pit-art engraving on the bottom side of the disc – will have its premiere in February/March 2011.
The latest album is available through iTunes, Amazon, Nokia Ovi Music Store and many more digital stores. You can also buy it directly from the band in digital form and on CD through Neuronia’s BandCamp site (http://www.neuronia.bandcamp.com)

German metal trio RAGE were one of the many bands to successfully blow fans away on the first ever 70,000 Tons Of Metal in January, as dozens of bands and over 2100 fans rocked the Gulf Of Mexico on a massive cruise ship for three days. RAGE tore the place apart with their energetic live act, not only giving fans an incredible live experience, but also having an amazing time themselves. “The 70,000 Tons Of Metal Boat cruise was one of the coolest experiences in Rage’s career,” says RAGE bassist/vocalist Peavy Wagner. “All on board witnessed a making of history in the metal world. We are proud about the fantastic reactions to our live sets! Let’s go do it again.”
Check out footage of the band playing “Highway To Hell” on the 70,000 Tons cruise with special guest Steve Smyth of Forbidden on second guitar and more at this location now. Peavy Wagner will also be available for interviews to North American writers this coming Thursday, February 17, from 1- 4pm EST. Please get in touch right away to schedule an interview with the RAGE frontman!

Since 1985, German’s RAGE have delivered their style of classic heavy metal with absolute class. Their new album Strings To A Web is a varied release, showcasing the different faces of the band; pure heavy metal thunder, classical and progressive landscapes, and powerful thrash anthems. Recorded at Twilight Hall Studio (Blind Guardian, Saxon) and produced by Victor Smolski and their longtime friend Charlie Bauerfeind (Hammerfall, Helloween and more), Strings To A Web is like a journey through the history of the band, who celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2010. Over the past quarter century, RAGE went through many changes, but always kept to their roots and developed their incomparable style, and there is no doubt that their current lineup is the strongest yet. Peavy Wagner’s voice is the main trademark, along with the guitar wizard Victor Smolski and power drummer André Hilgers, who round out the magical trio.
RAGE continues to be busy touring in Europe, with tours of Spain and Italy confirmed for March and April respectively. Stay up to date on all live actions on the band’s websites and social network sites, and stay tuned for more updates on RAGE throughout the coming months.
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (USA) – Iced Earth leader Jon Schaffer, hard at work in his studio, promises the next Iced Earth album will be “pretty fuckin’ heavy.”
“I can tell you from the riffs and the attitude behind it,” he said, “this is going to be a bad-ass record. This is inspired, focused, and to the point.”
The album – set for release later this year – will be Iced Earth’s 10th studio outing, and the first since 2008’s The Crucible of Man. Unlike Crucible and Framing Armageddon (which was released in 2007), the new album won’t be a concept. Instead, Schaffer promises a return to the raw-and-heavy sound of Iced Earth’s classic fan-favorite albums.
“This is really heavy stuff,” Schaffer said. “It’s a kick in the nuts.”
He added: “People probably think I don’t have it in me any more. But they’re going to be proved wrong about that. I can tell you this: we’re coming back with a vengeance. We’re out for blood.”
This promises to be a grand year for Schaffer and company. Not only will Iced Earth release a new album (followed by a world tour – which management promises will take the band to countries it hasn’t previously played), but the band will also release its long-awaited 6-hour, three-concert live DVD this Spring titled Festivals of the Wicked.
In addition, the band just announced two new summer festival dates: The Ilosaarirock Festival in Joensuu, Finland, on July 16th, and the Sweden Rock Festival, on June 10th, in Sölvesborg, Sweden.
With those two dates, Iced Earth has been confirmed to play a total of five summer festivals, including Wacken, Graspop, and Rock am Härtsfeldsee. More festival dates will be announced soon on the band’s official web site, MySpace, and Facebook pages.
Jeff Hanneman, guitarist and founding member of SLAYER, was hospitalized late last month where he underwent emergency surgery on his right arm after contracting a serious infection, according to his band mates Kerry King, Tom Araya and Dave Lombardo.
While Hanneman’s doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection’s origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis, and indicated it likely was rooted in a spider bite. The guitarist is now recuperating at home, has already begun the process of subsequent medical procedures including skin grafts, and is expected to make a full recovery.
In light of this situation and Slayer’s upcoming participation in the Australian Soundwave Festival tour that is set to kick off on February 26, the band has made the tough decision to play the dates without Hanneman, and will bring on a guest guitarist to fill in for him until such time as he has fully recuperated and is ready to return to the line-up. The band will announce details about the guest guitarist shortly.
“Jeff is our brother, we’ve all been friends and together as a band for almost 30 years,” said Araya, “so we’re all just crushed by this.”
“After everything that happened last year,” King added, “we all agreed that we just can’t let our fans down again,” referring to Araya’s severe back and neck pain that prompted his January 2010 surgery, unfortunately leading to the band’s postponement or cancellation of numerous shows in 2009 and 2010. “So we will tour as planned. But I’ll tell you, we can’t wait for Jeff to get better and get his ass back on the road.”
Avant-garde extreme-metal vanguard GIGAN will be touring the United States next month alongside Belphegor, Neuraxis, and Blackguard, in anticipation for their forthcoming Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes opus. Set for immiment release on new label home Willowtip Records, GIGAN’s Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes will shatter even further the boundaries of what can be done with “extreme metal” – and considering the near-unanimous acclaim afforded their groundbreaking The Order of the False Eye debut album from 2008, that’s a pretty tall order. Here are the confirmed dates + venues:
The cover art and full track listing for GIGAN’s Quasi-Hallucinogenic Sonic Landscapes will be revealed soon, as well as the confirmed worldwide release date. In other GIGAN news, the band will be featured on Caroline Distribution’s free “March Is Metal Month” compilation, which will also be available on iTunes. Watch out! Out of Sweden, THE POODLES release their new album “Performocracy”
Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the highly anticipated fourth album from THE POODLES entitled “Performocracy” on April 15th in Europe and May 5th in North America.
The title of the album is a combination of the words “Performance” and “Democracy”, meaning “The power of Performance” or “Rule by Performance”. The album was again produced by Mats Valentin, but this time Tobias Lindell (Europe, Mustasch) mixed the 12 outstanding tracks that make up the cd. “I think we have followed through on what we started with the last album, “Clash of the Elements”, explains singer Jakob Samuel. “Besides continuing to work with producer extraordinaire, Mats Valentin, we took a step further with some of the material that was hinted at on “Clash of the Elements”. On “Performocracy” there is a more epic and darker character to some of the songs that we wanted to explore in more detail. Having said this, we have definitely stayed with a lot of the signature melodic elements that are trademark of the band”.
The first single off “Performocracy” is “Cuts like a knife”, which promises to entice both Poodles fans and anyone with a passion for rock n’ roll. The song will impact at radio on February 21st and the single will be released digitally only on March 3rd. A video produced by Steve Ravic, who also shot and produced the band’s landmark DVD release “In the Flesh”, will accompany the release of the first single. After the gold and platinum records that the band was able to achieve in their home country Sweden, now it is time for them to take on the world !
“One important aspect of having a few releases in the bag is that you know more what you want as a band” adds bassist Pontus Egberg. “Someone once said that “if you want to dream big, you have to dream in great detail”. To us this means that we take all the knowledge and experience that we have acquired from our previous efforts and use that to plan ahead and make our dreams bigger.”
As the album title suggests, performing songs live is the reason for what The Poodles are as a band. A full European tour is planned for the early fall of 2011 and in conjunction to this The Poodles will also head to South America and Japan to support the release of “Performocracy”. For the summer of 2011 The Poodles will take part to festivals and shows with a focus on Sweden.
“Performocracy” will include the following tracks: I Want It All; Until Our Kingdom Falls; Father To A Son; I Believe In You; Cuts Like A Knife; As Time Is Passing; Love Is All; Your Time Is Now; Action!; Bring Back The Night; Vampire’s Call; Into The Quiet Night; Don’t Tell Me (Bonus Track).
Heavy Metal has never been more exciting and the new album promises to be a milestone in rock n’ roll history!
