” Morning Glory Clouds (In Manus Tuas Domine) “, a brand new track from the Portuguese Dark-Rock/ Metal outfit HEAVENWOOD, is available for exclusive streaming on the band’s MySpace page. The song comes off the band’s new album, ” Abyss Masterpiece “, which will be released on February 28 via Listenable Records. The follow-up to 2008’s ” Redemption “ was produced by Ricardo Dias & HEAVENWOOD and was mixed & mastered by Kristian “ Kohle ” Kohlmannslehner at Kohlekeller Studios, Germany.
Meanwhile, HEAVENWOOD have announced the addition to their line-up of Paulo Chanoca (DEMON DAGGER/ DECREPIDEMIC) as new session bass-player.
Commented HEAVENWOOD’s manager, Filipe Marta: ” ‘ Morning Glory Clouds ‘ is an amazing song that will grab the listeners attention from it’s very beginning thanks to very addictive melodies/ chorus and catchy riffs. I think this one is the perfect first single of this new album and I’m certain that will become a smash hit on every rock club dance floor and radio stations around the world and people must check it and spread it everywhere. Morning Glory Clouds is a chilling song that no one will forget. Concerning the new session bassist, I think Paulo is a natural born talented bass-player. A true war bomber aircraft that will transmit a lot of power and groove to HEAVENWOOD. He’s got a vast experience and knowledge in extreme music that will enable him to make a very good contribution to the band “.

Here’s what Hugo Flores had to say: “Melotronical is different, very special, quite aggressive some times, and perhaps our best album to date… Every track from this album has something unique, maybe related to the way the album was designed; a conceptual album, following a storyline that in the end will make sense to everyone. It’s a timeless story, about who every living being IS… and what’s also great is the booklet with no less than 13 specific images created to support the story and music! I hope that all tracks will stick in your mind for a long time, we tried to come up with ideas that would definitely make a difference.Hope you enjoy it and a Happy 2011 to everyone!”

Imagika - Final Line-up
IMAGIKA UPDATE…. R.I.P.
IMAGIKA has finally called it a day. Lead Guitarist/Songwriter Steve Rice comments on the bands demise. ”All things must come to an end and for IMAGIKA the time is now. After 17 years, 7 worldwide releases, 2 vocalist, 5 guitarist, 3 bassist, 2 drummers, countless performances and tour dates I’ve decided to put the band to rest. The reasons are many, but the truth is that it’s time for something new and to move forward without being bound to the past. I’m not mourning the end because I’m grateful the band lasted as long as it did. I look forward to building upon the music and legacy of a band I spearheaded for close to 2 decades with my new project. I would personally like to thank all the fans, press, labels, booking agents, promoters, venues, studios, engineers, artist, instrument manufactures and everyone else that had a helping hand in IMAGIKA’s career. It could not have happened without you! I will personally still handle and oversea everything Imagika post mortem for the foreseeable future.”
Moving forward, drummer Wayne Devecchi, former Eldritch guitarist Roberto Proietti and I have formed a new Metal/ Thrash project that will take our collective musical ideas to the next level. Fans of our past bands music will not be disappointed as we’ve put together some great catchy material that is melodic, complex and heavy. A five song instrumental demo has already been recorded and we are presently seeking a Pro Vocalist and Bassists to complete the project. Interested parties can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org Please have reviewable audio or video media.

Additional video footage of Swedish heavy metal band HAMMERFALL in the studio (plus other holiday shenanigans) has been posted on HAMMERFALL’s official Video Blog site at www.HAMMERFALL.tv.
The band is currently recording the follow up to 2009’s No Sacrifice, No Victory – which debuted at #38 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart for top new artists – with producer James Michael (Mötley Crüe, Scorpions, SIXX:AM, Meat Loaf). The as-yet-untitled new album will be released in Europe on May 20th. A summer release in North America is expected.
Regarding the sound of the new HAMMERFALL songs, guitarist Oscar Dronjak shares: “The new material contains a lot of fresh ways to look at the musical ideas, we’re trying to preserve the essence of what HAMMERFALL is while at the same time updating the execution and approach. Definitely heavier and less straight forward than the previous albums, yet remaining true to what we believe heavy metal is all about.”
No Sacrifice, No Victory achieved gold status in Sweden for sales in excess of 20,000 copies. The album registered the following first-week chart positions in Europe: #2 in Sweden, #7 in Germany, #20 in Switzerland, #21 in the U.K. (Indie Albums chart), #25 in Austria, #46 in Norway, and #95 in France.

BLOODY SIGN eternally thanks all the people who supported our sounds and dedication to extreme music.
But from the burning remains of the band should rise a new dark sound propagation with both founder members and……. See you in strange new aeons!

Grow Some Gnarly Hair; Win A Rad Prize Pack!
In conjunction with the release of AMON AMARTH’s Surtur Rising full-length, slated for release this March via Metal Blade Records, MetalSucks has launched the official Viking beard contest! Inspired by the magnificent mane of vocalist Johan Hegg, the contest will run from now until the record’s release date and be judged by the folks at MetalSucks and the band.
For the boys:
Step 1) Send MetalSucks a completely clean-shaven picture of yourself NOW — before Tuesday, January 11th at 11:59pm EST — holding up a sign that says “MetalSucks” and the date. Send all entries to news [at] metalsucks [dot] net with the subject AMON AMARTH Viking Beard Contest.
Step 2) Grow a beard.
Step 3) On March 29th, the day Surtur Rising is released, send team MetalSucks a new picture of yourself… same deal: Hold up a sign with “MetalSucks” and the date, only this time you’ll also need to write a secret passcode on your sign that will be revealed on MetalSucks on March 29th.
For the ladies:
The same as above, but for your armpits or leg hair! MetalSucks will be choosing one male winner and one female winner, both with an identical prize pack, so the playing field is equal for everyone.
Prize packs include: A lock from Johan Hegg’s beard, the “super duper fan edition” of Surtur Rising (of which only a limited number will be made), a drumhead signed by the whole band and more….
For additional info, visit the official contest page HERE.
More on Surtur Rising:
Surtur Rising marks AMON AMARTH’s eighth studio release and undoubtedly one of 2011’s most anticipated albums by fans and critics alike. Surtur Rising is the follow-up to the highly acclaimed 2008 release, Twilight Of The Thunder God, which landed the #7 spot in Revolver Magazine’s Top 20 Albums of 2008 and what MetalSucks called a “bottomless gauntlet of riffs that the band endlessly takes gargantuan swigs from, sounding both lush and emotive as well as skull crushingly heavy… every goddamn one is a chest-beating anthem.” Outburn declared how Twilight Of The Thunder God “will render you nothing short of ecstatic” and Time Out New York noted that “AMON AMARTH plays some of the most unabashedly epic metal you’re likely to find these days.” Further details on Surtur Rising to come. Stay tuned.

Marcelo Barbosa, the guitarist of Brazilian band ALMAH and the guitar player and the founder of Brazilian prog-metallers KHALLICE, has recently concluded the series of 15 free video lessons on Youtube, GUITAROSOFIA, published during 2009-2010. The material consists of short professional videos in Portuguese where Marcelo explains different aspects of playing the guitar, musical theory, composition and improvisation. The very first video was launched in August 2009 and now you can check out the complete series on the official Youtube channel of the guitarist here: http://www.youtube.com/user/marcelogtr. “Guitarosofia” is produced by GTR Guitar Institute with the support of Tagima, Elixir, Orange, NIG, IBOX and Santo Angelo. In 2011 Marcelo Barbosa is to release expanded material of “Guitarosofia” on DVD.
Marcelo Barbosa: “Publishing with great satisfaction the last, 15th video lesson, I accomplished my main idea to spread some knowledge as a free material in the Internet. I mean, not simply “any” material, but something with a very good production, content and personality. I’ve done it in order to give some strength to musicians of initial, intermediate or professional level and mainly to those who don’t have conditions to pay for private lessons. And up to the moment when I’ve started to write these words, we’ve got almost thirty thousand views of these videos on the channel. On the whole there are more than 2,5 hours of the recorded and edited free of charge material available. I don’t have any idea how many hours of work has it taken in order to get to the final result. The material published in Youtube is gratis and will always be. At the same time, I get many requests to post tabs and stuff like that. That is why I decided to fulfill my initial idea to launch “Guitarosofia” also in a special package with all the lessons in high quality on DVD and with tabs of all the examples I played there. The material is to be released very soon. I don’t know yet, if and when I continue the project, may be I’ll do it in the future, but definitely it won’t happen in 2011 because at the moment I have other goals. If you like “Guitarosofia”, please, make your comments, add to your favorites, embed the stuff to your pages, recommend to your friends helping us to spread this material, to keep the whole idea alive and to stimulate the interest to the study of this great instrument that we love so much!”
ALMAH finished the last part of “Fragile Equality” Tour in 2010 and this year the musicians will prepare material for the 3rd studio album.

The Evil Amidst have announced that they will begin shooting for the upcoming “Decreator” video in late January 2011, the shoot will take place in an undisclosed location in Florida. Guitarist Gio Geraca comments:
“Decreator is the song that embodies what The Evil Amidst is all about, we feel it effortlessly combines the sub-genre’s that influence us as a band and musicians, and we are looking forward to getting started on what we expect will be a dark and somewhat sinister video.”
Decreator was released in fall of 2010 on “Lords of the Nine”, The Evil Amidst’s debut full length album. The album is available now through all major online digital retailers. In other news, Gio Geraca has also released the following statement on his new endorsement through Blackstorm Strings:
