ROCK & ROLL PHOTOGRAPHER MARK “WEISSGUY” WEISS JOINS FORCES WITH THE SHARON OSBOURNE COLON CANCER PROGRAM AND THE WOMEN AND CANCER FUND

May 4th, 2011
by EvilG

In conjunction with the LETUSINcampaign.org  BIDDING ENDS SUNDAY MAY 8th!

World renowned photographer Mark Weiss has been shooting Ozzy Osbourne for 30 years. What began in 1981 as an assignment for Circus Magazine — to shoot a small b&w as part of a Rock ‘n Roll Yearbook theme — ended with the infamous photo of Ozzy on the cover, resplendent in a pink tutu and cowboy boots.  So began the decade’s long camaraderie between the two, resulting in the provocative, dramatic and amusing iconic images of a legend.  “Ozzy took me under his wing and away I went.”  Mark Weiss.
Twelve photographs were originally unveiled at the Andaz, a/k/a “The Riot House” in Hollywood after Ozzy’s historic performance at the Sunset Strip Music Festival in September 2009.  In celebration of the release of “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne,” these one of a kind archival giclée prints on canvas, with original signatures by Ozzy and Mark, and dated by Ozzy on April 25, 2011, one day after they were displayed at the documentary’s premiere, will be auctioned off to benefit “The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars Sinai” and “The Women and Cancer Fund.”

LET THE BIDDING BEGIN!
www.letusincampaign.org

god Bless Ozzy Osbourne is a new documentary about Ozzy’s life and times debuting at the 10th Annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York.  The Festival runs through May 1.  The film is the first release from Jack Osbourne’s company, Jacko Productions.
Mark was honored when Jack interviewed him for the documentary on his dad, and he is proud to be a part of the film.  Watching all of the Osbourne kids grow up, whether photographing family Christmas cards, Kelly’s album cover, or the controversial shot of Ozzy dressed as a housewife in curlers ironing baby Aimee (the iron wasn’t plugged in), he has been there.  It has been quite a ride with Ozzy and more than once throughout his successful career Mark has surely uttered the phrase “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne.”
“I’ve known Mark Weiss since he was a teenager. He was relentless in the pursuit of his art. Mark would knock on my hotel door all hours of the day and night wanting to take photos. He definitely had and still has the rock and roll spirit.”
— Ozzy Osbourne

Winner from each auction gets a free 11 x 14

Rob Zombie: Tours, Witches, Woolite and Comedy Central

ROB ZOMBIE SET FOR MAJOR EUROPEAN TOUR AND

NORTH AMERICAN DATES WITH SLAYER

GINGER FISH NAMED AS BAND’S NEW DRUMMER

Zombie Set to Direct Sixth Feature Film, “The Lords of Salem”

Just Wrapped Production on “Woolite” TV Commercial

and Comedy Central TV Special **

LOS ANGELES, CA — May 3, 2011 — First, you induct Alice Cooper into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame along side Elton John and Neil Young, then jump into directing your first major television commercial entitled “The Torturer,” for the laundry detergent Woolite. What DO you do next? Well, if you’re musician/film director/screenwriter Rob Zombie, you maintain course on a very eclectic and busy year filled with robots, pryo, witches, loud rock’n’roll, evil, comedy, touring, paranormal activity, and who knows what else.

Zombie has announced that former Marilyn Manson drummer, Ginger Fish, has joined the Zombie fold and will make his debut on the band’s first major European tour in nearly 12 years, kicking off June 3 in Nurnburg, Germany. Zombie and the band – Fish, guitarist JOHN 5 and Piggy D on bass – will play major European summer festivals including the UK’s Download, Italy’s Sonisphere, and Roskilde in Denmark, as well as headlining a slew of their own shows. Stated Zombie, “The band just got even weirder, and weirder is always better.”

Then, Zombie will join Slayer for the 12-city “Hell on Earth” North American tour. The co-headline trek kicks off July 20 at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA, blazing across the country until it wraps up August 6 in Seattle, WA. San Francisco’s thrash-metal band Exodus has been confirmed to open all shows.

“Total destruction on stage and off is what this combination promises,” said Zombie. “Seriously, how much more Hell could you ask for? The answer is none more Hell.”

For the North American dates, Zombie will be bringing his full, legendary stage show out in full force. Audiences can expect an exploding, non-stop barrage of sin, sex and Satan, guaranteed to rip your face off. This will be a true rock’n’roll spectacle at its finest.

Immediately following the “Hell on Earth” tour, Zombie will begin production on his sixth feature film, “The Lords of Salem,” that he wrote and will direct. Set to be filmed in Los Angeles and Salem, MA, Zombie explains, “There were twenty people that everyone knows about, obviously all innocent, executed as witches in Salem. The basic premise of the film is that there was a small coven, actual witches, who were put to death secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem’s descendants.

“As it stands now, this is probably the bleakest of all of my films,” Zombie continued, “a long, slow decent into the bowels of Hell.”

And then there’s the Woolite commercial that was shot in Vancouver and completed in mid-April. “It’s a very bizarre TV commercial for a product like this,” said Zombie. “Honestly, I was shocked when they called me to do it.”

If all of this isn’t enough, Zombie just finished directing a special for Comedy Central entitled “Tom Papa: Live In New York City.” The special was shot over two days in NYC, and features comedian Tom Papa from NBC’s “The Marriage Ref” in his first stand-up special.

“Tom and I worked together on my animated film ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’ and had a blast,” says Zombie. “So when Tom asked me to direct his first special, I couldn’t refuse. He’s a brilliant stand-up comic.”

SLEEP Confirm Support For New York City Show

May 3rd, 2011
by EvilG

West Coast stoner metal legends SLEEP recently confirmed support for their special New York City show at Terminal 5 on June 22 . The bill will now include two New York-based acts: Space rock duo White Hills and recently reunited death/doom trio Winter. Both bands were featured on this year’s illustrious Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland.

SLEEP 2011 Tour Dates

6/22/011 Terminal 5 – New York, NY w/ Winter, White Hills

6/24/2011 Sled Island Festival – Calgary, AB

6/26/2011 The Wiltern – Los Angeles, CA

About SLEEP:

SLEEP split in 1997 after two hugely influential albums. Members went on to form OM and High On Fire. Original members Al Cisneros and Matt Pike were joined by drummer Jason Roeder of Neurosis last Fall for a short stint of reunion dates that floored their earliest fans and converted new ones.

The band debuted with 1991’s Volume One album, recorded for San Francisco label Tupelo. Earache Records received the band’s next recordings in the mail as a demo. The label — impressed by SLEEP’s single-mindedness and unique vision — immediately signed the band and released the tape exactly as it was received. Record stores worldwide have stocked SLEEP’s Holy Mountain from November 1992 to this day.

The band then signed to London Records. Their debut album for the major took the form of one mammoth 63-minute leviathan of a track entitled “Jerusalem.” They resisted the label’s attempts at radio edits and bringing in their own engineer to remix the album in view of “marketability.” London balked at the prospect of promoting what probably still is the most extreme music ever recorded for a major label, consequentially shelving the record and dropping the band.

In addition, SLEEP’s music has been featured in films by Harmony Korine and Jim Jarmusch.

LEMMY Teams Up To Release HEADCAT CD Through Niji Entertainment Group

May 3rd, 2011
by Celtic Bob

Members of Motörhead, The Stray Cats, and Lonesome Spurs team up for new HeadCat release!
The band signs with Niji Entertainment Group!

LEMMY KILMISTER (Motörhead), SLIM JIM PHANTOM (The Stray Cats) and DANNY B. HARVEY (Rockats, 13 Cats, Lonesome Spurs), have teamed up in a high-energy, “take no prisoners” combo to remind the world how real rock ‘n roll is supposed to f*ckin sound.  HeadCat serves up a delicious melting pot with flavors of rockabilly, punk, blues and undeniable rock ‘n roll!

HeadCat was formed in 2000 after recording an Elvis Presley tribute special to which all band members contributed.  Slim Jim Phantom (drums, percussion), was born in Brooklyn and listened to his parents’ jazz records. At the age of ten he took up the drums although he always says that the drums chose him.  He is an exceptional drummer who cemented his place among rock royalty long time ago and inspires and excites audiences worldwide.

Danny B. Harvey (guitar, piano) is Texas born and also discovered his love for music very early. He started playing the guitar at the age of six and even got a full scholarship to study classical guitar. He developed a finger picking guitar style that’s very unique and based on his idols Merle Travis and Chet Atkins but also a result of his classical-technique education.

Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass, harmonica) was born and raised in England and started to play the guitar at the age of sixteen. With a laughing eye he always said that he only took the guitar to impress the girls. He is an autodidact and changed early to bass as he stated he wasn’t a good guitar player. After founding Motörhead in 1975 he knows the ups and downs in the business and has reached the status of an Icon all over the world.

The new HeadCat album ‘Walk The Walk…Talk The Talk’ is due to be released July 5th, 2011 through Niji Entertainment Group, the record label Wendy Dio and her and late husband Ronnie James Dio formed before his untimely passing.

Twelve fantastic songs for ‘Walk The Walk, Talk The Talk’ were chosen easily. HeadCat prepare to take over the airwaves with their first single ‘American Beat’.  ‘American Beat’ is a song written in the studio – Lemmy had the words and the rest came together very quickly.  ‘I Ain’t Never’ is one of the songs Lemmy really likes and Danny knew it – a real country, rockabilly number, full of love and ready to take you drifting away.   ‘Let It Rock’ is one of their favorite Chuck Berry tunes – The Stones did it a lot in their live show in the 70’s – HeadCat plays a different version. ‘Something Else’ is a classic Eddie Cochran – Lemmy came on stage with the Stray Cats and jammed on it at a show in the 90’s at Hammersmith Odeon so it came quite natural to take this on the record as well.

‘Walk The Walk…Talk The Talk’ track listing confirmed as follows:
American Beat
Say Mama
I Ain’t Never
Bad Boy
Shaking All Over
Let It Rock
Something Else
The Eagle Flies On Friday
Trying To Get To You
You Can’t Do That
It’ll Be Me
Crossroads

Commented the band: “Thank you to everyone that organized and attended Keep It True. We had a great time playing our first show in Europe. Met many SACRIFICE fans from the beautiful country of Germany, and around the world. Thank you for having us, we are sure that will not be the last time we perform in Europe. Guest musicians on the album include Jed Simon (ZIMMERS HOLE, TENET, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, ARMOROS), who “[laid] down a total whammy-bar barrage,” and the band’s old Scarborough metal comrade Dave Hewson (SLAUGHTER, STRAPPADO), who lent some guest vocals to “The Devil’s Martyr”.

BLACK SABBATH Guitarist TONY IOMMI’s Autobiography: More Details Revealed

May 2nd, 2011
by EvilG

According to the unofficial BLACK SABBATH web site Black-Sabbath.com, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has set “Iron Man: My Life With Black Sabbath And Beyond” as the title of his memoir. In the U.S., the book will be distributed by Da Capo (Simon & Schuster in the U.K.), which reportedly paid a six-figure amount at auction for the rights.

Foundry Literary + Media co-founder Peter McGuigan, who completed the North American rights deal for the book, described Iommi’s autobiography — which has not yet been completed — as: “‘Angela’s Ashes’ meets ‘The Ground Beneath Her Feet’ meets ‘Spinal Tap’.”

In a March 2010 interview with the Birmingham Post, Iommi stated about his upcoming memoir, “I’ve been working on it for a long time. We’ve been so busy for the last couple of years it’s been difficult finding the time to do it. But it’s coming on and hopefully it will be out [soon].” He added, “I’m not going out to blast at everybody, that’s for sure. That’s for the next book!”

The name “Tony Iommi” sends shivers down the spines of guitarists around the world. As lead guitarist and songwriter of BLACK SABBATH, Iommi is considered to be one of the most influential musicians of the past four decades and the inventor of heavy metal. From working class, Midlands roots, his unique playing style — a result of a disfiguring hand injury he suffered working in a sheet metal factory — created a dark and gothic sound unlike anything that had been heard before and which captured the mood of its time. SABBATH went on to become a superband, playing to massive audiences around the world and selling millions of records, and Iommi led the life of a rockstar to the fullest — with the scars from all the drug-fuelled nights of excess and wildness to show for it.

“Iron Man: My Life With Black Sabbath And Beyond” will chronicle the story of a band that that Rolling Stone has dubbed “THE BEATLES of heavy metal.” It’s all here. Every escapade associated with hard rock happened to BLACK SABBATH first: the drugs, the debauchery, the drinking, the dungeons, the pressure, the pain, the conquests, the company men, the contracts, the combustible drummer, the critics, the comebacks, the singers, the Stonehenge set, the sleazy managers, the music, the money, the madness, the metal.

In “Iron Man”, Iommi goes on the record about BLACK SABBATH and recounts his life story in detail and depth.

This is the other side of the story, the exclusive account of the life and adventures of one of rock’s greatest heroes.

“Iron Man” will reveal the man behind the icon, his humor, intelligence and warmth.

SEVEN WITCHES: New Album Artwork, Track Listing, Release Date Revealed

May 2nd, 2011
by EvilG
SEVEN WITCHES "Call Upon The Wicked"

SEVEN WITCHES "Call Upon The Wicked"

Many years have passed since the last SEVEN WITCHES album saw the light of day and guitarist/mainman Jack Frost decided it was time to give the fans what they wanted… and brought back James Rivera (HELSTAR) to front the group once again.

With the monstrous bass and songwriting of Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) and drums from Taz Marazz, Jack Frost and the guys recently completed work on a new album with Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, FATES WARNING) handling the mixing. Entitled “Call Upon The Wicked”, the CD features material that ranges in sound from classic JUDAS PRIEST to a touch of RAINBOW. There’s even an epic song featuring female vocals, a new step in the band’s chapter. The record is a bit of a concept, talking about how women have been the decline of men since the beginning of time.

Due on June 3, “Call Upon The Wicked” features the following track listing:

01. Fields Of Fire (4:09)

02. Lilith (5:11)

03. Call Upon The Wicked (3:43)

04. Ragnarock (3:46)

05. End Of Days (9:01)

06. Mind Games (3:26)

07. Harlot Of Troy (4:30)

08. Eyes Of Fame (4:24)

09. White Room (5:34)

10. Metal Tyrant (bonus track) (5:01)

11. Metal Asylum (bonus track) (3:45)

12. Jacob (bonus track) 8:42)

Rivera sang on SEVEN WITCHES’ “Passage To The Other Side” (2003) and “Year Of The Witch” (2004) albums.

SEVEN WITCHES’ last CD, “Deadly Sins”, came out in November 2007 via Screaming Ferret Wreckords. In addition to guitarist Jack Frost’s impressive six-string skills, the album featured two other metal giants in their respective fields — ex-HADES/WATCHTOWER vocalist Alan Tecchio (who also appeared on SEVEN WITCHES’ “Amped” release) and ARMORED SAINT/FATES WARNING/ANTHRAX bassist Joey Vera.

The current lineup for SEVEN WITCHES is:

James Rivera (HELSTAR) – Vocals

Mike LePond (SYMPHONY X) – Bass

Jack Frost – Guitar

Taz Marazz – Drums

ORIGIN: Track by Track Commentary Part 3

May 2nd, 2011
by EvilG

Technical death masters, ORIGIN, have released third of three track by track commentaries concerning their highly anticipated new album Entity. Part 3 is as follows:

“9. Banishing Illusion
John Longstreth: NAPALM DEATH, REPULSION, ROTTEN SOUND, MISERY INDEX, grind!!! So fun!

Paul Ryan: Our grind song. S.O.D. meets NAPALM DEATH meets CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER. Just fucking fun to play!

10. Consequence of Solution
John Longstreth: Epic #2. Lots of parts, kind of like ‘Phantom of the Opera’ by IRON MAIDEN. See if you can pick out my Pete Sandoval tribute.  A lot of new ideas surfacing on this one.  It’s almost like a montage of what you might hear on the next album.

Paul Ryan: The beginning of the song up to the thunder storm was the first thing written for the album and the rest was the last for us to finish. The most changes in a song we have ever done. Really excited about how this came out and what our fans will think. Rob Rebeck did a amazing Job!!!
Mike Flores: I think this may have been the first song Paul started to show me back in May of ‘09. It was just a short piece then.
11. Evolution Of Extinction

John Longstreth: For me, this song is all about flow.  Very back beat oriented. This guy has deep pockets. It should make the ladies dance, the men headbang, and the kids tear each other to hreds.  Some more groove in the end just in case you forgot. SOMEONE likes BOLT THROWER.

Paul Ryan: Its got all the riffs for all the right moods. You can headbang. You can throwdown in the pit to it and  for the ladys you can shake your backside to it!

Mike Flores: One of my favorites. Definitely dig the topic.
12. You Fail

John Longstreth: The quickest written song on the album.  I started making dinner while Paul was playing with the arpeggio bendy bit in my living room.  I think he had the entire thing complete by the time I had tacos made. Oh yea, black metal.

Paul Ryan: This song was written in about a day with a couple riffs that were just on the back burner. One of my favorite riffs is the arpeggio w the bend!!! Just thrown together and it worked! RABID TERADACTYL VOCALS!!!”

ORIGIN recently uploaded video blogs chronicling the making of their  upcoming masterpiece entitled Entity. Check out Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.
One of the most intense and technical forces of the contemporary death metal world, ORIGIN has returned to stake its claim as the leader of metal’s new wave of extremity with its fifth studio effort. As expected, the death grind trio of Mike Flores (bass, vocals), Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals) and John Longstreth (drums) continues to churn out frantic, hell-paced grids of metal torment, but now further complements the arrangements with a newfound propensity for churning grooves and the hook-laden approach that first reared its ugly, but accessible head on the band’s 2007 offering, Antithesis. The band once again returned to Chapman Recording Studios in Lenexa, Kansas to work with longtime engineer and friend Robert Rebeck.

As stated multiple times in the past, ORIGIN proves once again that they stand head and shoulders above their peers.

Catch the band, with their new frontman Jason Keyser, on tour with HATE ETERNAL, VITAL REMAINS and ABYSMAL DAWN in North America starting on June 15 at Emo’s in Austin, Texas. Look for ORIGIN on the road in Europe, South America, Mexico, Asia, Australia and the rest of the world in 2011 and 2012.

by EvilG

Pulverised Records is proud to welcome the infamous Singaporean black death warmachine known as IMPIETY to their illustrious roster for their upcoming eighth studio album.

The band, which has a winding history that spans over two decades, is a champion of the underworld having released a host of crushing albums that consistently push the boundaries of extreme.

Commented founding bassist/vocalist Shyaithan of the signing: “The best of IMPIETY has yet to come! Writing the upcoming storm serves as a greater challenge to myself and all previous endeavors. One thing definitely to expect is that this new full-length album will hammer you ten times harder than all previous revelations. Blood and Chaos shall dominate but Lightning Death will be its ultimate crowning glory!”

Added Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin Chiang: “IMPIETY, with their vibrant history as the first band to put Singapore on the extreme metal map, has grown rapidly in recent years with a fearsome reputation of being a no-holds-barred ferocious live act. And now it has come full circle; this formidable co-operation for the upcoming new full-length opus will prove once again that IMPIETY is truly at the top of their game, sitting proud and high at the blackened elite throne of blasphemy. Asian and Arrogant!”
