MODERN SUPERSTAR recently announced their new touring and recording lineup of Mike Hatfield (guitars), Mike Mackey (bass), Lorenzo ‘Zo’ DelVecchio (guitars), Ryche Green (drums) and Tommy Milan (vocals).
Drummer Ryche Green had this to say about the new lineup; “This is the lineup that I’ve been waiting for since the inception of this band. It has taken 3+ years to get to this point and this band is on fire. We are working hard on brand new material and can’t wait for everyone to hear what we got!”
The band is currently in Florida recording new material with Stet Howland (Where Angels Suffer, W.A.S.P.). Look for a new track to be released later this month.
The first announcement about the next album is here for you! Our second CD will be entitled “DARK CHAMBERS OF DÉJA VU”!
Recording in Grapow Studios (SK) will start on 11th February 2013, with our dear friend, ROLAND GRAPOW (MASTERPLAN, EX-HELLOWEEN), as a producer again!!! All lyrics are already written (as well as on the “Tears of White Roses” album) by our friend and a great lyric-writer, Jan Petričko! The cover artwork + all new design is in making right now by Dis-Art Design from Slovakia!
At the end of 2012 our former drummer, Radek Rain, left the band – SEBASTIEN is wishing him all the best in his future life and career… Now we are proud and happy to tell you, that we found a really special guy for our upcoming recording!!! MARTIN “MARTHUS” ŠKAROUPKA (CRADLE OF FILTH, MASTERPLAN, INNER FEAR) will play with us on the album!!! Stay tuned, more interesting updates are coming soon…
For now you can watch our video from the official MASTERS OF ROCK DVD 2012. We performed “Dorian” with three special guests: APOLLO PAPATHANASIO (FIREWIND), ROLAND GRAPOW (MASTERPLAN, EX-HELLOWEEN) and KATIE JOANNE (SIREN’S CRY)…
From January 22nd to January 26th, 2013, Black Rain will perform live in five French venues to promote their debut album “Night Tales”, released via Street Symphonies Records on November 3rd, 2012; the album has been receiving good feedback both from critics and fans: the first press edition of “Night Tales” was sold out and a re-issue was arranged.
On January 31st, 2013, Italian band MIDRYASI will publish its new CD “Black, Blue & Violet” via MYGRAVEYARD PRODUCTIONS
The band, active since 2002, comes back on the music scene with its third full-length, maintaining a heavy sound inspired by doom, psychedelic rock and using improvisation as main source of inspiration. For all the fans of Black Sabbath, Hawkwind and Pentagram: what’s surprising about Midryasi is its capacity to sound like these bands without being identical to them and to mix doom, psychedelic and extreme infuences without losing consistency and personality. To celebrate its ten-year activity, RockWolf Records will release a vinyl edition of the album, 180 gr., 300 numbered copies, splatter, that will be available from February 15th, 2013. A preview of “Diagonal” can be seen below:
RANDY RHOADS & FAMILY BETRAYED WITH UN-AUTHORIZED USE OF MATERIALS
RANDY RHOADS Biography
In late 2012 Randy Rhoads mother, Delores Rhoads, siblings Kathryn Rhoads D’Argenzio and Kelle Rhoads, learned that a coffee table book titled “Randy Rhoads” had been released, co-authored by Andrew Klein and rock writer Steven Rosen with the assistance of Peter Margolis and Denny Anderson. The family obtained a copy of the book. They were both astonished and horrified to see that Klein and Margolis are holding themselves out as “experts” on the life of Randy Rhoads, implying that they had the approval and cooperation of the Rhoads family, which they did not.
On April 1, 2007, Margolis entered into an agreement with the Rhoads family to produce a single documentary film on the life of Randy Rhoads. Margolis assured the family that the film would be completed within three years. From that point on, however, Margolis himself did not own any of the ideas and materials obtained or created in the production of the documentary, or any of the photos, videos or sound recordings collected for use in it, having assigned all of that to Dakota Films, the company financing and producing the documentary. Over the next several years, Margolis, Klein and others, working for Dakota Films, went forward with the project. Although Margolis reportedly claimed, as of early 2012, that the documentary was completed – “in the can”—it has never been released. Individuals who saw portions of it during production have reported that it was “edited poorly and unprofessionally,” and that the quality of the film was “abysmal.” The Rhoads family was frustrated by what they considered the mediocre quality of Margolis’s film, and by the fact that the “official documentary” they had so long hoped for had never come to fruition. This has been especially painful for Randy’s mother, Delores Rhoads, who is now in her nineties, and has spent the last three decades carefully preserving and advancing the legacy of her son.
The family contends that Margolis and Klein have stolen the materials; they have no rights or ownership of, from the failed documentary. They used them in the book, in order to try to exploit Randy and the family for their own profit, while trying to establish themselves as “authorities” on Randy Rhoads. They have falsely implied that they have the Rhoads family’s support and cooperation for the unauthorized book. The family emphasizes that in no way did they authorize or participate in publication of the book, nor have they had anything more to do with either Margolis or Kleinsince the production of the unreleased documentary ended.
Moreover, according to the family’s complaint, the book contained more than fifty instances in which Klein and Margolis had used without permission photos, excerpts from interviews and other personal information that had been provided to them by the Rhoads family solely and exclusively for use in the authorized documentary film and for no other purpose.
The Randy Rhoads Estate and family have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against the filmmakers and now authors Peter Margolis and Andrew Klein, the publishing company Velocity Publishing Group, Inc., and co-author Steven Rosen. The suit arises out of a failed documentary film project on the life of Randy Rhoads, and the defendants’ recent publication of a book arising out of their involvement in that film project. The defendants are alleged tohaving made extensive and, unauthorized use of personal information and photos from that documentary project, and are accused of fraud, breach of contract, invasion of privacy, and misappropriation of rights of publicity.
Randy Rhoads had a relatively short career as a rock guitarist and songwriter, but like James Dean had in the movies, Rhoads blazed like a comet across the music world, particularly in his short time as lead guitarist, first with Quiet Riot and then, most famously, with Ozzy Osbourne in the early Eighties. Rhoads’s guitar work and songwriting are featured on such legendary songs as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley.” While he was alive Rhoads was voted Best New Talent” and “Best Heavy Metal Guitarist” by various music magazines. In March 1982, Rhoads tragically died in a plane crash, at the age of 25, while on tour with Osbourne. Noted for the influence of his classical musical training on his high-speed, heavy metal guitar style, Rhoads reputation and influence has grown exponentially in the years since his death. Rolling Stone and Guitar World list Rhoads high on their lists of Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of all time. “Crazy Train,” which he co-wrote, place Number 51 on Rolling Stone’s list of the Greatest Songs of All Time. Ozzy Osbourne has been quoted as having said ““He was a saint. . . .He was an angel, and too good for this world. His death’s always on my mind. Every year at the anniversary of his birth and death, fans from all over the world gather at his grave site to honor his passing. We will never forget him. His musical legacy lives on in the minds and music of his many fans.”
In continued partnership with Germany’s Cyclone Empire Records, Metal Blade Records will be releasing one of Cyclone’s most recent European releases in North America. Gloria Morti’s Lateral Constraint will be released on February 5th in North America. Fans can pre-order the album, as well as listen to Sleep, Kill, Regress, Follow, at metalblade.com/gloriamorti.
Gloria Morti has emerged as one of the finest up-and-coming melodic death metal acts. The band originated in Finland back in 1999, and has since released five demos, and four full-length albums, including Lateral Constraint. The album was recorded and mixed by the band’s guitarist Juho Räihä and mastered by Svante Försback.
Guitarist Juho Räihä elaborates: “On Lateral Constraint, I made a conscious decision to write without over analyzing or burying the point with anything unnecessary. The lyrics are about mankind’s inability to step aside and think outside the box. Almost all of our problems seem to be a side-product of clinging to old beliefs and institutions. Mankind needs to evolve laterally if we want to survive and elevate ourselves to the next level. We are not civilized as long as we have wars and poverty. Musically, Lateral Constraint was probably the easiest Gloria Morti album to write. We just went to the natural direction of the band and had a really relaxed and emancipated recording experience. All in all I honestly think that Lateral Constraint is by far the best Gloria Morti album to date, and it will be hard to top in the future.”
GLORIA MORTI have been “blessed” with a vast number of exceptional supporting tours. They have had the honor to share the stage with such bands as BEHEMOTH, ZYKLON, MAYHEM, THE CROWN and DISSECTION. Lateral Constraint is an exceptional entry in the field of melodic death metal, more than worthy of mention alongside releases from Septic Flesh, Zyklon, Amon Amarth, etc.
Lateral Constraint track listing:

2. The First Act
3. Our God Is War

Heaven and Hell Records will be releasing all the North Carolina False Prophet material on CD early in 2013. As one of the next releases in the Lost Relics collection, finally this awesome thrash/death metal will see a proper release all remastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios in Winston Salem.
False Prophet came to be in 1988 and first proselytized in 1989 with the self released ‘Sign of the Cross’ 4 song demo. In 1991 the band self released the now underground classic ‘The Second Death’ full-length. The band toured up and down the Eastcoast sharing the stage with such acts as; Danzing, Death Angel, Forbidden, Wrathchild America, Confessor, Dark Angel, and many more of the aggressive acts crossing the country. As they spread their gospel, the buzz grew and caught the attention of Belgian label Mausoleum Records. The band was signed to label unfortunately an album would never be released. Soon after the band changed their name to Infernal Heirarchy in 193. That same year the band released a two song 7″ and then disbanded.
Since False Prophets name has become sort of legendary in certain circles both in North Carolina and abroad. The band was destined for something more hot on the tails of Florida acts like Morbid Angel and Nocturnus.
Well, finally this classic material will see a CD release including all three recordings re-mastered by Jamie King, all new artwork, photo gallery, and whatever other extras we may dig up. Watch for updates and a few possible surprises.
Heaven and Hell Records will be releasing Connecticut power metal band ESP ‘Future is Now’ in early 2013. This will be the first time that the album has ever official been released on CD. The release will include the full ‘The Future is Now’ album and bonus unreleased demo tracks of non-album songs all re-mastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios in Winston Salem, N.C.
ESP formed in New Haven, Connecticut in 1985 and issued their first 5 song demo in 1986. The demo landed them a deal with Metal Blade records that lead to their inclusion on the compilation Metal Massacre Vol. 8 with the track “Take ‘em Alive”. The Following year Dream Records release the bands one and only full-length ‘The Future is Now’. They would gain momentum throughout the Northeast playing shows with such bands as Fates Warning, Obsession, Leige Lord, and Wrathchild America. The band continued to demo material but eventually parted ways.
The Future is Now again and it is time to bring this album back out for the metal hungry masses.
In continued partnership with Germany’s Cyclone Empire Records, Metal Blade Records will be releasing one of Cyclone’s most recent European releases in North America. Zombified’s Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released on February 5th via Metal Blade Records in North America. The Sweden-based death/grind act unleashed the album at the end of 2012 in Europe. The title track, as well as album pre-orders, can be found at metalblade.com/zombified.
Zombified was started as a two man project by guitarists P. Myrén and P. Fransson in the winter of 2006. After some beers, and a three song demo, they decided to assemble a full band and record an album.
They got in contact with the session members “Von Pest” and M.Askinen and with them they gave birth to the first album ‘Zombified Slaughtermachine’. After the release, M.Fiebig and R.Karlsson joined the band on drums and vocals and Zombified didn’t waste any time and created a new album called “Carnage Slaughter And Death”. Shortly thereafter, M. Fiebig decided to leave the band and a new drummer was found in J. Johansson.
Zombified Slaughtermachine led to the band signing with Cyclone Empire. Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released in February 2013 by Metal Blade Records in North America. Carnage Slaughter and Death was recorded at “Shotgun Studios”, which is owned and operated by the band. Additionally, the band is wasting no time and has already begun assembling material for a third album.

Swedish melodic rock legends Treat are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2013 and announce some mouthwatering news for all their fans. Treat will release a special 30th anniversary edition package, contains a best of-album with two brand new songs and two previously unreleased songs, and their latest album “Coup de Grace”, regarded as a ” masterpiece ” by Classic Rock Magazine and voted “Melodic rock album of the year 2010” with an extra track.
Treat also plans a big tour, that will kick off with some major festival gigs in the summer, and will see them rockin´on the road in to the autumn. Then it´s over. For good.
”We have a saying in Sweden: You should always leave the party when you have the most fun”, says guitarist and songwriter Anders Wikström who formed the band back in 1983 together with singer Robert Ernlund. Say what? Treat is breaking up! Treat has never been a more tight knit rock’n’roll unit than now, and the band is brimming with creativity and excitement. That´s why the band now chooses to call it a day; they want to, as they put it, ”end on a high note”.
”We´re doin’ it out of love and respect for our fans”, Anders Wikström says. ”We quit before they ask us to get the hell out. We want Treat´s legacy to be pure rock´n´roll happiness!”
The decision to close down operation is most amicable, and kind of grew upon the five in the band, but when the decision was made, the band almost immediately started making plans for the farewell party next year.
”We´re going out with a bang and will give our fans a ride they didn´t even knew they wanted.”, says Anders Wikström.
Treat, who released their classic debut album ”Scratch and Bite” back in 1985, now also introduces the new bass player Fredrik Thomander, who’s for years been close to The Band Of Brothers that Treat are: Fredrik has been co-writing songs with the band, mixed ”Coup de Grace” and has already done some gigs as a Treat Brother.
Anders Wikström (guitar and vocals), Robert Ernlund (lead vocals), Jamie Borger (drums), Patrick Appelgren (keyboards and vocals) and Fredrik Thomander (bass and vocals) take Sweden on a turbo charged rock´n´roll journey in 2013. There’s many ways to say goodbye.
”We wanna party with our fans”, says Robert Ernlund and adds: “The Treat´s on us”!

MD has obtained rare audio of late great guitarist Dimebag Darrell (PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN) jamming at Z-rock radio station on Nov 1, 1990 in
Dallas, Texas. By request Dimebag cranks out some Slayer riffs and does not disappoint. You will also hear brother Dime take his stab at ZZ TOP

New York Death Metal masters Suffocation (Suffo) are still skinning and incinerating audiences alive some 24 years after their formation! While putting the finishing touches on their new slab of brutality PINNACLE OF BEDLAM, which will be out in February 2013, Suffo decided to give the hardcore fans in Stamford, Connecticut a special intimate VIP show at Fiddler’s Green. For $30 a ticket, in addition to a killer show in a tiny venue, fans could hang out with the band before and after the show! How cool is that?!? Even though I live 3 hours from Connecticut, when I saw this advertised on Facebook I knew right away it was a must see! Tonight would be my 5th Suffo show and I was pumped!
