For the first time in 74 years, last night was a night not illuminated by the indescribable light that was H.R. Giger.

 

H.R. Giger became our mentor, against all odds, when we, somewhat audaciously, first established contact with him some 30 years ago. At a time when almost everybody ridiculed, ignored, or even obstructed the music the then almost completely unknown Swiss underground band Hellhammer was creating, Giger listened to us, talked to us, and gave us a chance. Not least at a time when he was at one of many peaks of his path.

 

A little more than a year later, his exceptionally stunning art made what might be one of Celtic Frost’s most important albums, To Mega Therion, even more significant. Other links to Giger’s universe also manifested themselves, almost as if it was predestined.

 

Eventually, after many more years, the mentorship became a friendship. It was a friendship and a personal connection I valued infinitely, and it also included his wonderful wife, Carmen, and many other remarkable people that were part of his universe.

When Celtic Frost came to an end so acrimoniously in 2008, H.R. Giger and his wife were among those who witnessed my uncontained despair and stood by me. That Giger subsequently agreed to collaborate with my new group, Triptykon, and thus enabled us to release our first album, Eparistera Daimones, with one of his most dramatic paintings on the cover meant the world to me.

 

It apparently pleased Giger, too. He told me so on several occasions, and he completely stunned me in October 2011 by proposing that we continue the collaboration between him and Triptykon. I would have never asked for such a thing, because I never would have wanted to appear insatiable. He brushed such reservations aside, and it was his mentorship, friendship, and art that enabled us, once again, to release a second album on which music and cover art formed a seamless symbiosis. Only a few weeks ago, he held the result in his hands and loved it.

 

Regardless of anything I may write about H.R. Giger, however, none of these words will ever be able to truly, accurately describe him as a person and as a friend. It is utterly inconceivable to imagine a world without his wit, his perception, his genius, his horizon, his determination, his humour, his friendship, and his immeasurable kindness. And yet, we are now left in exactly such a world.

Arch Enemy has received a lot of publicity lately, following the announcement in March that Angela Gossow will be stepping down as a vocalist. Plus their new album, War Eternal (2014), is on its way out. We are curious to find out more.

Waterghost announces their first single

Capa_Waterghost_singleWaterghost, the new Brazilian Metal Opera project, is coming! It’ll also be composed by a lot of musicians who will be announced soon.

The first single “The Four Elements” will feature vocalist André Ferrari. Currently, Ferrari is vocalist for Mr.Ego and former member from Eyes of Shiva, in which he recorded two albums, released internationally and great repercussion in Heavy Metal scene. In addition, he participated in major projects with renowned musicians, such as Andre Matos, Kiko Loureiro, Fabio Laguna, Edguy, Exodus and Viper.

The guitars for “The Four Elements” was composed and recorded by Vinicius Almeida – multi instrumentalist and producer, participating in the Metal scene for 15 years. The cover art was created by the advertising company Diferencie Comunicação Integrada.

The editor-in-chief of Metal-Rules.Com may get fist fucked because of the Nine Inch Nails gig review, but hey Nine Inch Nails were one of those industrial pioneers opening doors for this type of sonic tormenting assault. Obviously the legendary Woodstock show back in 1994 definitely catapulted the band led by Trent Reznor into another dimension of the success. Of course Downward Spiral is definitely the epitome of all industrial albums in ages and the whole genre as well. Even though NIN have visited Finland a couple of times before, but for some reason the timeline ended mostly around the time of the Downward album for me. Therefore going to witness NIN was definitely more than a welcomed idea.

The Hartwall area with the 12000 seats was half packed by different sorts of people, from metal fans to the alternative crowd and of course mainstream music lovers having attended the NIN gig. On the other hand that amount people in such a huge hall looked truly pathetic. The smaller venue with the same amount fans would have made the gig more intimate as well as a way more brutal by creating the more suitable atmosphere for one hell of a memorable NIN show.

The gig started with the Pinion intro and was followed by “Copy A”, “100.000.00”. However the setlist had been created to cover a lot of the material from the era of 1989 – 1994. Especially the songs, f:ex “March Of The Pigs”,”Piggy”, “Closer” etc, off from DOWNWARD SPIRAL played the dominating role on the set. Whereas “Head Like A Hole” out of three songs off the debut album PRETTY HATE MACHINE caused the ballistic reaction amongst the audience. In the mid of the gig the venue turned to an ambient sonic catacomb, when beats of songs such as “The Great Destroyer”, “Me, I’m Not” definitely went straight to the heart and head.

The whole show was nothing, but an utter tremendous triumph of lights and visual aspects. Getting the epilepsy stroke resulted by the flashing light was quite near. All the visual aspects created real massive and unique show fitting to the sonic pleasure of NIN from the softer to the head ripping. The separate massive huge gate looking construction showed up between the drums and the rest of the band. As for the band, Ilan Rubin proved to be the real multi-instrumentalist by doing the drums and handling the guitars as well, the guitarist Robin Finck mauled the guitar while taking care of the vocals. To sum up, the whole NIN sounded extremely killer, vicious and above all razor sharp.

The whole visualized show was concluded by the obvious choice “Hurt” of which Johnny Cash made an immortal cover version before passing away. That brought the tranquiled harmonic atmosphere to concluded the gig.

Nine Inch Nails offered a real in your face show with the massive light show and a real deal of the most asskicking songs from the long career. Trent Reznor with the back-up forces were on the strike thru the whole 90 minute set. Even though Reznor is reaching the magical 50 year sooner or later, he still lives up with the passion to the music and the performance. Well maybe he ain’t that wild as 20 years ago at the legendary Woodstock show.

OPETH delay ‘Pale Communion’ album release

The release of OPETH’s hotly anticipated eleventh studio album, ‘Pale Communion’ has been rescheduled for 25th August. The opus was previously set for a mid-June release via Roadrunner Records.

Opeth mainman and visionary, Mikael Åkerfeldt explains; “Many of you have heard the rumours already and we can now confirm that the release of ‘Pale Communion’ has indeed been pushed back to late August. Metal-Rules.com: Hello! It’s Hellias Papadopoulos from Metal-Rules.com First of all, how are you doing? And where are you checking in from today?

I’m doing great, and have been busy doing interviews in support of the new album, “Dawn Of The New Centurion.”  Checking in from the birthplace of thrash metal – the Bay Area here in Northern California.

Metal-Rules.com: Congratulations for the new album DAWN OF THE NEW CENTURION. What’s the new thing on this record in compare with your debut album HEROES OF ORIGIN?

I think “Dawn Of The New Centurion” is a step up in all areas.  The songwriting is more mature, the band is tighter, and I think the record is heavier than “Heroes Of Origin.”  We have been a band for another year, and the guys have grown as players.  There is more experience under our belt now, and that reflects in the music.  These new songs have more dynamics and more complex arrangements.  It’s just a stronger record in all areas.

Metal-Rules.com: Can you tell us some words about the production of the album, and who is involved and responsible for the sound and mixing?

That would be Juan Urteaga at Trident Studios.  He did engineering and production on both Hatriot records, and has worked with a lot of big bands like Machine Head, Testament, and Exodus as well.  Juan is the Bay Area’s secret weapon.  He’s fucking killer!

Metal-Rules.com: How did you come up with the band name?

We chose the name Hatriot because it connects this band to my days in Exodus.  The word is in the lyrics of the Exodus song “Scar Spangled Banner,” and it sounded angry and aggressive, so we went for it.

MetalRules.com: As I have heard you new album, it sounds as a primal thrash metal album, a mix of Exodus and Testament sound. Do you agree on that?

It is definitely an old school thrash metal record, but there are hints of moderns sounds in there.  An thrash riff with my vocals over it is going to have a remote similarity to Exodus, just because of my signature vocal snarl, but in my opinion this record has a lot more early Testament influence in there, especially in the melodies and song structures.  If you took the Exodus album “Tempo Of The Damned” and crossed it with the first Testament album you would get a sound similar to what Hatriot is doing these days.  It will definitely make the old school thrashers proud.

 Metal-Rules.com: Can you tell me a little more about the lyrics, did anything particular inspire you?

 

I’m inspired by this fucked up world we all live in.  The more violent the world becomes, the more violent and aggressive the music becomes.  It all goes hand in hand.  I write about dark subjects, and no topic is off limits for me.  This record has songs about cabin in the woods killers, pedophile Catholic priests, corrupt world leaders, the end of the world, and a whole lot more.

 

Metal-Rules.com: How did you get into playing music?

The same way any kid does really.  I grew up around heavy rock and all my buddies were aspiring musicians.  My brother played bass and had a few bands.  The defining moment was when I saw AC/DC play a festival show in 1979, and right then I knew I wanted to be a singer.  The first band I formed was called Metal Warrior, with Phil Demmel, who went on to be in Machine Head and Vio-lence.  After that Legacy was formed, and the rest is history…

STEVE SOUZA- THE DAYS OF LEGACY BAND 

Metal-Rules.com: What’s your opinion on other kinds of music?

I like most anything that is in the rock genre.  It can be hard rock, classic rock, or whatever – as long as it rocks!  I hate rap music and despise country music.  I can recognize a good song, and there are good songs in other genres of music, but I’m a fucking rocker.  I like my music hard and heavy!

 

Metal-Rules.com:  Is there any Greek metal bands that you really like or want to share the stage? Suicidal Angels, Rotting Christ, Septicflesh, Firewind and Gus G. to name a few.

That is really a question for my guitar player, Kosta Varvatakis.  He is full blooded Greek!  As for these bands, I am definitely familiar with Firewind and Rotting Christ.  Maybe not their music, but I have seen their names in magazines and that kind of thing.  I would love to share a stage with any of them!

Metal-Rules.com: What are the plans for you in the near future?

We have a full plate this year.  Right now we are doing a lot of press promoting “Dawn Of The New Centurion,” and writing new songs as well.  In July we are going to Europe for a tour with Artillery and Onslaught.  We come home in August and do a local show with DRI (w.n.: they are gods!!!) that is being filmed for a Hatriot DVD.  After that we head to South America for some dates, and then get back into the studio for record number three!  This band is working hard and we are kicking ass!

Metal-Rules.com: How important is it to you that people pay attention to your lyrics apart from listening to your music?

I think it’s very important.  The riff and the groove of the music is generally what catches people’s attention in the beginning, but after that there needs to be a real meaning to the words.  That’s my opinion anyway, but I view myself as having something to say lyrically.

Metal-Rules.com: What do you think of today’s music industry in general?

I think it is in the shitter.  I think the internet has made music less important to people.  Gone are the days of really getting into a band, and listening to a record over and over, while reading the lyrics and really absorbing it.  Now people just quickly browse the internet, and maybe stream a song and see if they like it, and then they are on to the next thing.  It’s just quick and disposable.  There are too many bands out now, because it’s so easy to record and distribute a record.  All we can do is roll with the changes and try to adapt the best that we can.

Metal-Rules.com: Is technology part of your life or are you still a “romantic”?

Technology is definitely a part of my life, but not to the degree of some people.  My sons run my social media pages.  I don’t live on a computer like a lot of people do.  I check email from my phone, and that’s about the extent of it really.

Metal-Rules.com: Will be released something new with Dublin Death Patrol?

I think Dublin Death Patrol is over, at least for now.  There’s just not enough time to devote to that thing.  Chuck is busier than ever with Testament, and I want to focus all my energy on Hatriot.  DDP was never meant to be a real full time band.  It’s a fun project that we do with our friends.  We don’t tour or try to make it a big band.  That defeats the purpose.  We created DDP as a fun thing to get away from the bullshit that comes with being in our ‘real’ bands.  Right now there’s just not enough time to mess with it.

Metal-Rules.com: If Rob Dukes will announce that he will leave from Exodus, would you be consider yourself as a perfect candidate for the vocal post as you know it very well?

Definitely not!  That chapter in my life has been closed, and I have put way too much into building Hatriot at this point.  I would be letting the rest of my band down, and it just wouldn’t make sense.  If I went back to Exodus we would just be a retro act.  I am building Hatriot at a nice pace, and we are putting out an album every year to a year and a half.  It’s been four years since the last Exodus disc.  I can’t work like that.  I’m very happy where I’m at right now with Hatriot.

Metal-Rules.com: I have beholden that heavy metal changes through the decades. Heavy and Thrash metal dominated over in 80’s, Death, Black and Power metal in 90’s and Metalcore and Nu Metal in the 00’s in general. 2010 was the beginning sign of the new decade. What do you see for the future?

I think the only way it can go is heavier and more extreme.  Like I said earlier, as the world gets more violent, the music will get more violent as well.  I believe extreme music is the future.

Metal-Rules.com: One of the last trends in music business is iTunes. More and more metal bands sell albums through this way. What’s your opinion on that?

Personally, I like a physical product.  It can be CD, vinyl, or even cassette.  I just like a tangible product.  I like opening the shrink wrap, holding the cover, and reading the liner notes.  However, iTunes is the new medium that everyone is going to.  We just have to roll with the changes.  It’s not my thing really, but I have accepted it.  It’s not going away, so you might as well accept it and find a way to make it work.

 Metal-Rules.com: If you could pick only one musician to work with, who would that be and why?

Living or dead?

Metal-Rules.com: Pick one being still alive and one from the dead.

If he is alive I’d say Jimmy Page.  Why?  Because he’s Jimmy fucking Page, that’s why!  If we are talking dead musicians I’d have to say Bon Scott.  Why?  He’s my ultimate hero and the reason I sing.

Metal-Rules.com:Which big metal loss affected you the most?

It would definitely be losing Ronnie James Dio.  That was devastating to me.  Exodus toured with Black Sabbath in 1992, and I became good friends with Ronnie.  We stayed in touch in the years following that tour, and I’m honored to be able to call him a friend.  He will forever be an icon in heavy metal, and will forever be missed.

The “Silent Scr3am” is a dreamlike and out of this world debut for Elysion and the first time I heard it I wanted to know much about this band. From this interview with frontwoman, Christianna, two distinct impressions came out; the first includes all that you will read below, and have to do with the album, the band is interested and several around it. The second one isn’t reflected here. It is what one obtains, speaking with such a cultured, smart and energetic person who is the leading lady of dark and gothic/symphonic scene of Greece!

Metal-Rules.com: Hello! This is Hellias Papadopoulos from Metal-Rules.com, I am very happy and glad for this interview! First of all, how are you doing? And where are you checking in from today?

Big hello to you too from all Elysion,let us hail all dear readers!I am very excited about chating with you too, we are all doing great and enjoying another beautiful sunny afternoon in Athens:)

Metal-Rules.com: How did Elysion get started and how did you come up with the band name?

Things began back in 2006, when Johnny Zero started the band with the rest of us joining him onboard gradually throughout the years, speaking of our current lineup. As for the name, well it has a mythological reference to the ancient Greek ”elysian fields”, an imaginary island of rest for the souls of brave soldiers after their death, like an ancient Paradise. We thought that this overall sense of hope and romanticism behind this term suits Elysion’s identity perfectly and as it turned out it really fits us like a glove!

Metal-Rules.com: More and more female fronted band join the metal scene every year. What’s the thing that puts Elysion apart from the others?

Could there ever be anything apart from a band’s personality that sets it apart from the rest…?We don’t like to feel piece of a whole bunch of female fronted bands, even the term ”female fronted” hardly gives any real information of what a band sounds like. Our atmosphere and music forms Elysion’s identity, be it embraced or disliked by someone, this is it.

Metal-Rules.com: Can you tell us some words about the songwriting and recording sessions?

Elysion work as a team, especially now that our lineup has been completely stable for many years it feels great to get inspired by one another and know exactly what we are about. I like the fact that we never stop composing, regardless of whether it’s time to focus on a new album. So by the time we hit the studio for the recordings we are pretty much fully organized, with our pre-production already sounding very close to what we wish the final outcome to be.

Metal-Rules.com: Who is responsible for your albums as producer?

We have been working with Mark Adrian for many years now, so he’s more like the sixth member of Elysion and we consider him family by now. In SOMEPLACE BETTER album, we ourselves were very much involved in the entire production process which was a very illuminating experience. And, of course, Dan Certa and Dave Collins’ perspective over the album’s mixing and mastering influenced the final sound a lot.

Metal-Rules.com: Is a new Elysion release in the works? If yes, what new things would it bear on it in compare with the previous ones?

I think it’s quite early to talk about details of a new release since Someplace Better was only released a couple of months ago.We do have new material under construction that we never stop working on, but for now our priority is to play live as much as we can and enjoy this new album in as many gigs as possible. We are looking forward to travelling along with our music and fill the Elysion ”diary” with many exciting new entries, that will become inspiration for future use.

Metal-Rules.com: There are several female fronted metal bands out there that try to increase their hype and noise around their name by showing the woman’s beauty and sex appeal or they are on the ‘hottest chicks’ list. There are a few of them that have already done a topless photo shooting to promote their band. Is this right for you? Did Elysion have the same proposal by a promoter? If you have this proposal tomorrow, how would you react?

I ‘d rather not place all bands in one bag as I only like to comment on someone individually, every case should be very different. Also,I highly respect everyone’s right to choose their way of trying to succeed, not all same things work for different people and I hate to place ethical judgements in general. I can only speak for Elysion so the answer is no, as far as I know we never had any proposal of this sort. To lighten things up a bit, I’m sure my four fellow bandmates would not object to themselves appearing topless :P. I’m kidding. I don’t think anyone would believe Elysion’s atmosphere could be enhanced by some sexy photo shoot that would be a very bad marketing idea.

 

Metal-Rules.com: You are a Greek band. So, I’d like to ask you some questions about it. A lot of bands are more respected in other countries than their homeland. How is Elysion received in Greece? I’m just asking as Greece is not a country where symphonic/gothic metal grew up.

It might be so but Greece has always had a very dynamic and devoted metal fan base .We would be the last ones to complain about the way our homeland has treated us ,as this would be enormously ungrateful. I know Elysion always meant to treat our Greek crowd with respect and it was obvious, from our very first steps, that we were awarded with equal respect from this crowd. I don’t believe in behaving snobbishly with any type of audience, it just shows a band’s inability to win someone over. If what you have to offer is true, that will be acknowledged sooner or later.

Metal-Rules.com: Is there any other Greek metal band that you would like to share the stage or do collaboration in a record?

Sure, there are many. As a matter of fact, in SOMEPLACE BETTER we had the honor of collaborating with the amazing Fotis Benardo (Septicflesh,Sixfornine) who plays drums in ”Our Fate”. There are truly many Greek musicians we admire so it would be a thrill to join forces with them, be it in an album or on stage.

Metal-Rules.com: A compatriot band, Suicidal Angels have recently moved to Germany to keep their thrash metal flag up. Another compatriot band, Septicflesh have taken a more symphonic approach to their death/goth metal and that was a success story for them. What steps or approach would be taken by Elysion if they would like to get bigger than they are?

We only wish to be as big as our music can makes us. No less, no more. We wouldn’t deliberately stray from our musical identity to pursue a more fruitful passage, even if there was such a thing as a resipe to success. Since you mentioned Septicflesh, I think their amazing talent and character made them who they are. It’s being unique that made them, not being followers, and suggesting that their majestically overwhelming contribution to the scene was a result of practical thinking is inaccurate. You can’t write music on purpose and hope to make a carrier out of it, or everyone would have figured how to succeed by now. I don’t know what could make Elysion bigger and what exactly bigger means. I wish for us to evolve and write more beautiful songs, be better at what we do.

Metal-Rules.com: Many new female fronted bands have taken a progressive, heavier, or more complicated approach to their music. Your band, however, keeps it more simple and straightforward. What inspired you to go in this direction?

We never decided to go for one direction rather than for another…I don’t know what other bands do and why they choose to sound the way they do, I only know that in Elysion we don’t have any recipes, this is just what comes out of us. So far it has been straight forward, like you said, and let me say it could be more difficult this way because staying simple is quite hard. You have to only choose what’s most important. Still, who knows what will happen in future..?If we get to have a different inspiration, we won’t hesitate to surprise ourselves!

Metal-Rules.com: What music label would be the most suitable for Elysion’s music? Symphonic metal, gothic metal or?

oh, but you can’t rely on a label to tell you what you can only hear and feel with your heart.

Metal-Rules.com: What’s the main influences on you and Elysion as a band?

Elysion have very wide musical backgrounds and we differ with each other but somehow this makes a fine blend. I have been listening to all extremely wide platform of rock /alternative heavy metal/atmospheric different clans of music since I was ten years old, that covers a lot of differentially:)If I had to only name one band, although the influence in Elysion cannot be noticeable, this band could only be Iron Maiden because if it had not been for them none of us would be doing what we do today.

Metal-Rules.com: Can you share the best billing for a female fronted Fest?

Well I’d like to enjoy different oriented bands in the same gig, so apart from Elysion, if I could add us to the billing, I’d love some differentiallity, like maybe Halestorm, Within Temptation and Arch Enemy. I’m a huge fan of them all!

Favorite female-fronted band:Halestorm

Nightwish: changed my life something like 15 years ago, can’t listen to the older albums without crying over this dive into memories.

Greece:a sacred land abused without mercy for hundreds of years mostly by its own children

Politics: the art of commiting the most savage crimes against humanity and getting away with it.

Favorite TV series: oh so many!I’ll stick to the ”Big Bang Theory” ,can’t get over my love for nerds since I’ve been, and still am, proudly, the queen of Nerds!

Favorite comic character: Moorcock’s Elric of Melnibone

Best video game ever: hmmmm,could be God Of War.

On April 29, 2014 the Metal Alliance Tour rolled into Calgary Alta. for a very early show. The venue at the University of Calgary, MacEwan Hall, had a very early curfew for the show and so doors were opened at 5pm with the first band on at 5:45pm. The early start time unfortunately reduced the number of attendees, as did the lack of Inquisition on bill who were unable to cross the border. The three more well-known acts on the bill, Goatwhore, 1349 and Behemoth have played packed venues in Calgary previously. Due to the size of the hall and the division between the beer gardens at the back of the room and the all age’s section in front of the stage, the crowd looked a little thin.

It was a slow start when Black Crown Initiate came on stage. There were very few people in the venue and no line up outside because of the early start time. A few more people trickled in over the course of the set but it was a very noticeably small crowd. Their technical death metal infused with progressive influences was enjoyed by the audience, and a sizable amount of people moved up towards the stage to show their appreciation of the music. The songs flowed seamlessly from an instrumental introspective intro into their heavier catalogue.

Louisiana’s Goatwhore always gets a good response in Calgary, filling larger bar sized venues with raucous fans. Although there were considerably more people for Goatwhore’s set, it still looked like small crowd due to the room size. Frontman Ben Falgoust demands the audience’s response with his intense stage presence as he prowls around the stage striking epic poses and headbanging in between ferocious vocals.  Sammy Duet shredded through driving riffs and razor sharp solos. Bassist James Harvey was an indomitable presence as he delivered tight bass lines and Zack Simmons was menacing behind his drum kit. The set sampled from the bands previous albums with songs like “The All Destroying”, “When Steel and Bone Meet”, along with a new tune from the upcoming album Constricting Rage of the Merciless [Metal Blade Records, 2014] called “Baring Teeth For Revolt”. The set finished with favorites that really got the crowd moving “Alchemy of the Black Sun Cult” and “Apocalyptic Havok”.

Norway’s 1349 brought a more malicious atmosphere to the line-up. The stage was awash in red as the band took the stage. Vocalist Ravn was an intimidating force, holding up gauntleted fists to crowd to emphasize his venomous vocals.  Jon Rice (ex-Job For A Cowboy) was filling in once again on drum for Frost and did an excellent job with the relentless drum beats. “Sculptor of Flesh” started off the set and after a few songs the band gave the crowd a taste of upcoming album with “Slaves” which seemed well liked by the crowd.  They finished off with “When I was Flesh” and “Atomic Chapel”.

Behemoth never fails at putting a performance that shows thought put into every detail. From costumes and backdrops and sets, to stage presence and character, it all holds the audience enthralled. Whether or not you are a fan of their newest offering the Satanist [Nuclear Blast, 2014], which was heavily featured in the set list, the performance delivered entertained and engaged. The band strode on stage with Nergal following last, ceremoniously walking out with fire torches held in both hands. Nergal stood with his back to the audience, torches crossed, and the anticipation was built up until they launched into “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”. Orion was towering and ominous with his bass. Inferno pounded into his drums, though was mostly hidden behind his kit for the majority of the set. Seth shredded on his guitar with Nergal and stalked around the stage.  Behemoth gave fans some older favorites like “Conquer All”, “Christians to the Lions”, and “Chant for Eschaton 2000” mixed in with the new, including the title track from The Satanist. Their excellently executed set ended with “O Father, O Satan, O Sun” and the band donned horned masks to finish with a very evil atmosphere.

BELPHEGOR: “Conjuring the Dead”

Diabolical Death/ Black Metal giants, BELPHEGOR, have just revealed the cover design of their forthcoming album Conjuring the Dead. The artwork was created by Greek artist, Seth Siro Anton who also painted the cover of Pestapokalypse VI in 2006. “The spectacular cover, the offensive lyrical content, the Death Musick. BELPHEGOR´s nine new sound collages are a new dimension of intensity and dynamics,” states the band’s imposing vocalist/guitarist Helmuth. ”Once you can customize the basic principles of Renaissance painting and deriving energy/data from chaotic reservoir of unconscious,…you get BELPHEGOR´s Conjuring the Deadcover art,” adds bassist and longtime partner in slime, Seth.

Conjuring the Dead was recorded at Mana Studios in Florida under the direction of Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSEGOATWHORE,HATE ETERNAL). Three and a half years have passed since the highly praised album Blood Magick Necromance was released. BELPHEGOR are back to conquer; possessed, on fire and stronger than ever!

Sage release their fourth video and single “Blacksmith’s tale”

We present to you the forth video single Blacksmith’s tale, of a Croatian metal band called Sage. The song was recorded at J.M. studio under the watchful eye of Fedor Boid and Franjo Valentid, and was mixed in the Morrisound studios on Florida by Jim Morris. Jim worked with great bands like Sepulture, Iced Eartha, Savatage. By Jim’s side is also their producent Casey Grillo also known as the drummer of a progressive/melodic power metal band called Kamelot. Blacksmith’s tale is the fourth song out of twelve that creates the conceptual album „Anno Domini 1573“.
