Bay Area thrash titans EXODUS are pleased to announce that their brand new album, Blood In, Blood Out, has charted at #38 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 charts in its first week! This comes in at a staggering 76 charting spots higher and nearly double the sales above the band’s last release in 2010. This concretes Blood In, Blood Out’s status as the band’s highest-charting album to date! The new album also is charting at #2 on the Hard Rock/Metal charts and #6 on the Independent charts.

Blood In, Blood Out has also debuted at #29 in Germany, #30 in Finland, #30 in Switzerland, #38 in Austria, #38 in the Czech Republic, #72 in the UK, #75 in France, #85 in the Netherlands, and #101 overall, #86 on Top Current Albums,  and #6 on Hard Music charts in Canada. This includes some territories that EXODUS has never charted in before!

These numbers come as no surprise, as Blood In, Blood Out has been praised by critics and fans alike as one of the best EXODUS albums of all time! In fact, Yahoo Music calls Blood In, Blood Out, “one of the most anticipated heavy metal records of the year”, and Rolling Stone calls the band “among the first and best” of thrash metal and touts the album as “recommended”.

EXODUS lead vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza states, “I’m very stoked and excited to see that EXODUS has charted at #38. This band being around over 30 years and being on our 10th album, this is truly amazing. I’m excited for our management, I’m excited for our record label, I’m excited for our booking agency, and I’m excited for everyone else in the staff. I’m mostly excited for all of our fans who have supported us over the years through thick and thin – I’m glad you’re all still here. We’re all very proud to have you as our fans, and when you come out to see us live, we will not disappoint you. You are truly our inspiration and we will keep doing this for as long as we can bang out heads. Thanks everyone.”

“EXODUS could not be any more excited about the awesome chart positions Blood In, Blood Out has achieved,” adds EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt. “This is in many ways a milestone record for us, and for it to be so embraced by the metal world is quite simply amazing! We worked our asses off and people have responded in a way we only dreamed of! Thanks to all our fans for making this happen!”

EXODUS co-manager Maria Ferrero of Breaking Bands LLC and Adrenaline PR states,  “Breaking records… breaking barriers… on  behalf of  Breaking Bands LLC  I am proud to  see EXODUS,  my  long-time  friends of  31 years  get  the  recognition that they deserve. To finally see Kirk Hammett record with his first band is just the icing on the cake. The team kicked ass. The reviews have been amazing and the fans stepping up to take action with their unwavering support speaks volumes. The fans don’t lie! This is a great day for thrash metal. It is my honor to protect, promote and support such an iconic band.”

EXODUS co-manager at Breaking Bands LLC and Testament vocalist Chuck Billy adds, “The Breaking Bands LLC team is very proud to be a part of the success of the new EXODUS album Blood In, Blood Out. The band has worked very hard to deliver a monster of a record that is shaking up the metal community. We would like to congratulate the band and wish them continued success on their world domination. They should be very proud of their accomplishment for kicking the door down in a declining music industry. Great job, boys. Let the EXODUS Attack begin.”

Check out what other critics have to say about Blood In, Blood Out!

“Pared down to a simple sentence, this album is fucking sick,” chimed the first web review for the record, penned by Blabbermouth’s Ray Van Horn, Jr. Shortly after, Decibel Magazine’s Kevin Stewart Panko gave great praise to both returning vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza and guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, saying tracks on the record feature, “Sousa spitting forth from a venomous thesaurus and some of the most adventurous lead work that Holt and Altus have ever recorded.” The EXODUS rhythm section receives equal praise from About.com Heavy Metal’s Dave Schalek, who states, “[Tom] Hunting shows no signs of slowing down and bassist Jack Gibson anchors down the album’s bottom heavy sound.”

“EXODUS deliver the definite lesson in violence,” adds Rue Morgue’s Aaron Lupton, while Outburn Magazine offered positive remarks in both review and feature form. “A vintage thrash metal voice placed on top of an EXODUS sound again harnessed to perfection by Andy Sneap has resulted in an album that batters the eardrums as effectively as it boils the blood,” remarks Scott Alisoglu. The most recent stellar-rating review comes from New Noise Magazine, in which Brandon Ringo states, “Once again, EXODUS has proven exactly why they have attained such a legendary stature over the years and are considered one of the greatest bands in thrash metal even 30 years later!”

OZZY OSBOURNE ‘Memoirs Of A Madman’ Enters Charts At #1

October 24th, 2014
by Celtic Bob

OZZYmoam

OZZY OSBOURNE can add a few more #1’s to his career.  His MEMOIRS OF A MADMAN DVD (Epic Records/Legacy Recordings), released October 14, entered the Nielsen Soundscan charts at #1 in the U.S, while also landing at the top of the charts in Sweden, Finland, and Canada.  The DVD offers fans of the multi-platinum recording artist, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and three-time Grammy® winning singer and songwriter hours of entertainment from OZZY’s distinguished solo career.

The MEMOIRS OF A MADMAN DVD set includes classic music videos, along with unreleased and out-of-print live performances, plus interviews from his solo career.  The two disc set is the definitive visual compilation of the rock icon’s career:

DVD One features more than two dozen of OZZY’s classic and unforgettable music videos from across his discography, including a bonus alternate version of “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and making-of footage from the videos “Let Me Hear You Scream” and “Life Won’t Wait.”

DVD Two features live performances and interview clips spanning OZZY’s solo journey, much of which makes its debut on DVD. Some selections have appeared on long out-of-print VHS releases; others will be seen here for the first time, making this an essential package for fans old and new. OZZY’s union of music and visuals could not be more perfect, and the Memoirs Of A Madman DVD showcases that to brilliant effect.

OSBOURNE’s ongoing solo career spans four decades–as both a successful solo artist and as the lead singer of Black Sabbath–and his music is as relevant today as ever; it still resonates daily on TV, in movies, on radio and at stadium sports events. OZZY’s latest solo release–his tenth studio album, 2010’s Scream–debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard charts, featuring the No. 1 Mainstream Rock smash “Let Me Hear You Scream.”

From the first notes of OZZY’s 1980’s solo debut Blizzard Of Ozz and follow-up Diary Of A Madman to classic albums No More Tears and Scream, no hard rock solo artist has had quite the same reach as OZZY; his distinctive vocal delivery and larger than life onstage persona quickly endeared him to millions of rockers.  OZZY immediately had the attention of fans of heavy music with rock staples “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley” and “Flying High Again.”  With the 1991 release No More Tears, OZZY continued his radio success with acclaimed and hugely successful singles “No More Tears” and the smash hit “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

INTERVIEW AND PICTURES BY MARKO SYRJALA AND ARTO LEHTINEN

The Rods used to dominate back in the early and mid 80’s by releasing six albums in a row. After the intensive years of banging their heads and rocking hard, The Rods went on a hiatus for a long time. David “Rock” Feinstein did a few one/off shows by playing material from The Rods. It wasn’t until 2011 that The Rods officially got back together to release the long waited comeback album title VENGEANCE. The legendary trio arrived at Swedenrock and therefore sitting down with the whole band after the gig was obviously a great idea. THE RODS, here we go…

Finnish metallers LESS THAN THREE releases a new EP

October 21st, 2014
by EvilG

Finnish metal band LESS THAN THREE releases their new EP “The Black Box”. Also, watch a studio video of their cover version of Meshuggah’s “Future Breed Machine”.
LESS THAN THREE started as the bedroom project of Jesse Soiletsalo (ex-Medicated) in 2010. After composing a dozen songs Jesse wanted to record the tracks properly with a real drummer, so Samuli Mikkonen (PROFANE OMEN) was chosen to help with the job. The songs began to fill out but they still needed some lead vocals. After trying out a couple of singers the perfect match was found with Tommy Tuovinen (MYGRAIN). The band became whole after Pyry Hanski (ex-BEFORE THE DAWN, MÖRBID VOMIT) and Ari-Pekka Repo (ex-MURDERSHOCK) joined as bassist and second guitarist respectively.

The Crinn Return With A New Track, Reveal Artwork for Forthcoming Album ‘Shadowbreather’

October 21st, 2014
by EvilG

Minnesota’s extreme metal experimentalists, THE CRINN, have returned with a face melting new track entitled Silent Betrayer!! Little has been heard from the band since the release of their debut full length album, Dreaming Saturn, via Nuclear Blast Records back in 2010. Aside from a few one off live performances and few and far between social media updates, THE CRINN have been excessively quiet over the last few years.

All that changes with the release of Silent Betrayer, which is taken from their forthcoming album Shadowbreather. Silent Betrayer is now streaming via THE CRINN‘s Bandcamp page, as well as their Official YouTube Channel. The artwork forShadowbreather has also been revealed and can be seen (attached).

CANNIBAL CORPSE addresses Russian tour issues

October 20th, 2014
by EvilG

CANNIBAL CORPSE recently completed their tour of Russia, a place they have played previously played many times with no issues. Unfortunately, as many Russian fans are already aware, this tour did not go as planned. CANNIBAL CORPSE has released a statement, which can be read below.

A message to our Russian fans:
As you all are certainly aware by now, our concerts in Ufa, Moscow, and St. Petersburg were cancelled. We were present in these cities and ready to perform each of these shows but were not permitted to. In Ufa the power was turned off shortly before the show (we were told because the venue was late on rent), and in Moscow and St. Petersburg we were told that we did not have the correct visas and that if we attempted to perform the concert would be stopped by police and we would be detained and deported (prior to the tour we had been told that we did have the correct visas and that all of our paperwork was in order).

Our show in Nizhny Novgorod also had problems. In that city we performed half of our set before being stopped by police. We were told the police needed to search the venue for drugs and that the show had to be terminated.

These are the reasons for the cancellations as far as we have been told.

On the brighter side, we had a fantastic time performing in Krasnodar, Samara, Chelyabinsk, and Yekaterinburg. We were able to play our full set in all four of those cities.

We came to Russia excited and prepared to play all of the scheduled concerts, and we apologize that we were not able to do so. It was beyond our control. We are extremely disappointed. We have played in Russia many times and we love our Russian fans. Hopefully someday the situation for us in Russia will be different and we will be able to return.
