Two Great New Releases from UDR Music Out Now: SAXON’s “St. George’s Day Sacrifice – Live In Manchester” & ANNIHILATOR’s Limited Edition Version of “Feast” with Bonus Live DVD
Yesterday marked the highly-anticipated release of two very special releases from UDR Music artists – ANNIHILATOR’s limited edition version of Feast with bonus live DVD and SAXON’s St. George’s Day Sacrifice – Live in Manchester.
St. George’s Day Sacrifice – Live in Manchester was recorded at last year’s performance on that special day, specifically at The Ritz in Manchester, England during the band’s ‘Sacrifice World Tour’. The album is mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap and produced by SAXON vocalist Biff Byford. This 2 CD set (also available in digital format) finds a blistering performance covering a collection of SAXON’s finest work from 1979 up to 2013. A very special rendition of ‘Broken Heroes’ goes straight to the heart and is dedicated to The British Armed Forces. This is SAXON at their best – a real treasure rejoicing every fan. ANNIHILATOR‘s latest masterpiece Feast is let loose again as Limited Edition No. 2 – with re-recorded ANNIHILATOR classics on CD and the full Wacken Festival show on DVD, all in a special Ecolbook version with a new 3D cover! This edition contains the new album Feast in a CD-sized book with extra pages in the booklet, the 15-song bonus CD Re-Kill with newly recorded ANNIHILATOR classics, plus a never-seen-before live DVD filmed at last year‘s Wacken Open Air, when the band opened the festival relentlessly regardless of the blistering heat! Not to mention a brand new 3D cover taking over where the original Feast cover left us, which means: More zombies, and they are coming closer! That‘s 35 songs-worth of the finest Canadian thrash metal. Pretty cool package, eh? ANNIHILATOR’s 14th studio album Feast was released in August 2013 to critical acclaim and reached the charts in several countries, among them Germany (#20), Finland (#17), Switzerland (#36) and France (#76). Metal All Stars show @Arena Riga, Latvia
Interview by Anna Dumpe
Interview photos by Aiga Leitholde
Few hours before Metal All Stars show kicks off in Riga, Latvia on Saturday 5th of April, 2014, Metal-Rules.UK team had a chance to sit down with the ultimate thrash metal legend Joey Belladonna and talk about all things Anthrax, being on the road with Metal All Stars and music in general.
When Metal All Stars tour was first announced, many people had doubts about the quality and legitimacy about this specific project simply because of how impressive the line-up was. In the very beginning Metal All Stars was a tour that would take many musicians, like Zakk Wylde, Tom Araya, Vince Neil, Cronos, Phil Anselmo and many more on a tour across Eastern and Northern Europe, but after few artists cancelling or denying their appearances on Metal All Stars tour, it was questioned by even more people.
The truth is, until the actual day of the show, many heavy metals fans of Latvia really had no clue if the performance is actually going to happen due to lack of advertisement and news about artists, like Vince Neil, Phil Anselmo, Cronos, etc cancelling their appearances just days before the tour kicks off. However the show DID happen and we were there to see it all for ourselves. Read the rest of this entry »
GEOFF TATE TO EMBARK ON FAREWELL QUEENSRYCHE TOUR BEGINNING IN JULY
AFTER FRONTING IMMENSELY POPULAR BAND FOR MORE THAN THREE DECADES
QUEENSRYCHE CO-FOUNDER AND ORIGINAL VOCALIST HEARD ON ALL THE HITS
OF THE PAST TO CARRY ON INTO THE FUTURE WITH THE MUSIC HE HELPED
MAKE FAMOUS ALONG WITH OTHER CREATIVE ENDEAVORS
More than thirty years after setting forth on the musical journey that would become known as Queensryche, singer GEOFF TATE — one of rock’s quintessential front men and the lead vocalist heard on all Queensryche hits — will be performing his farewell tour as “Queensryche” beginning in late July (see below for full itinerary).
The announcement of the tour, Queensryche Starring Geoff Tate – The Farewell Tour, comes hot on the heels of the recent amicable settlement with his former band mates Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield, who will be continuing with the band name.
With Geoff at the helm of Queensryche, the band experienced incredible success, garnering four Grammy nominations, performing in 46 different countries and selling over 20 million albums worldwide.
“One thing that’s really important for fans to know is that this never went to court,” comments Geoff Tate, who will be continuing as Geoff Tate: The Voice of Queensryche once the summer farewell tour is complete.
As part of the agreement between the original members, Geoff will have the exclusive right to perform the concept albums Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II as unique performances.
For the past several months, Geoff and his version of Queensryche (comprised of bassist Rudy Sarzo, guitarist Robert Sarzo, guitarist Kelly Gray, drummer Simon Wright and keyboardist Randy Gane) have been performing the fan favorite on their 25th Anniversary Mindcrime Tour (with special guest Sass Jordan as “Sister Mary”) in front of sold out audiences everywhere.
“It’s sort of similar to the Pink Floyd situation where Roger Waters retained The Wall,” comments Geoff. “Mindcrime was my thing and my story, so it’s only appropriate that I keep that… The others will be touring as Queensryche and I’ll be continuing on as me.”
The popularity of the theatrical back-to-back presentation of the Operation: Mindcrime saga (I & II) was exemplified when the performance was captured for the 2007 double DVD/CD set, Mindcrime at the Moore, that hit #1 on Billboard’s Top Music DVD Chart and eventually reached gold status.
For the forthcoming tour, Geoff’s version of Queensryche will be performing all the hits along with some rarities to celebrate the music he’s enjoyed making over the past thirty years.
Although the name will change, the line-up of stellar musicians performing with Geoff after this “farewell” tour is expected to remain the same.
Tickets go on sale for the majority of shows this Friday, May 2nd and this Saturday, May 3rd.
“So, here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over… or has it just begun?”

MERCYFUL FATE guitarist Hank Shermann’s new band, SHERMANN TANK – described as metal with crushing brutality, relentless guitar attacks and vocals from the depths of hell… dark and melodically captivating – have released a video for the track ‘The Bloodbath Begins’.
“This is what Shermann Tank is all about; classic metal with all the layers of guitars that I love to play”, says Hank. “We’re still in song writing mode and it really shapes up like you wont believe! Final lineup for the album recordings will be announced shortly!”
Explaining Shermann Tank, Hank previously stated: “After touring with VOLBEAT for all of 2012, I decided it was time for me to start working on my first solo output. Things developed really fast and I joined forces with my good friend Marc Grabowski to handle vocals and bass! I’ve known Marc since the mid-90s and was already impressed with his potential back then. Now it’s full circle. Songwriting is full steam ahead and it really kicks hard, very hard! This is going to be my dream guitar album! I’m putting all my 35 years of guitar experience into this album.”

Sacramento rock band TESLA have announced an all new LP titled SIMPLICITY due out June 10th, 2014 via Tesla Electric Company Recording’s arrangement with Entertainment One Music and Distribution.
SIMPLICITY will be the band’s seventh studio full length LP and fifteenth release overall. The new effort will be the followup to FOREVER MORE, which was released in October 2008 and featured the single “I Wanna Live.”
TESLA locked themselves away for weeks writing the new material that would become SIMPLICITY with long time A&R man Tom Zutaut. Fourteen solid tracks later the band sank their teeth in while recording began at bassist Brian Wheat’s very own J Street Recorders. Legendary engineer Michael Wagener (Metallica, Skid Row, Motley Crue) was then tapped to put the final touches in place.
Fresh off the MONSTERS OF ROCK CRUISE, the band has quite the itinerary of tour dates throughout the rest of 2014. Click here for all tour dates.
Formed in 1981, TESLA have firmly carved out their own space in rock and roll history. The band saw great success with their own rendition of the 1971 classic “Signs” and their own hit single “Love Song” from the The Great Radio Controversy, released in 1989.
TESLA is: Frank Hannon – Brian Wheat – Jeff Keith – Troy Luccketta – Dave Rude

After recently launching a video for their new album’s title track (which has already surpassed 2 million views on YouTube), metal icons ARCH ENEMY are now ready to unleash the second single from their upcoming ninth full-length, War Eternal, due out worldwide via Century Media Records (Trooper Entertainment in Japan) on June 9th in Europe and June 10th in North America. Watch the new lyric video for ‘As The Pages Burn’ below.
Chief song-writer and band leader Michael Amott comments: “‘As The Pages Burn’ almost goes back to the style of writing that I had in the late 90’s. It’s very old school Arch Enemy with an almost SLAYER-vibe in the intro/verse and a huge melodic chorus. A bit like ‘The Immortal’ and other AE classics of that time. The middle section is very classical music inspired – a twin guitar part that is a lot fun to play. Alissa wrote the lyrics for the song. This song is an example of what I love about collaborating – in the songwriting, I’m giving her the instrumental, and she comes from a different background, and the two different approaches merge together to form a very interesting result that blew my mind. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album.”
Front-woman Alissa White-Gluz adds: “‘As The Pages Burn’ is also one of my favorite songs. I think it’s going to be a very fun song to perform live. I really like fast-paced, energetic songs. A lot of the lyrics on the album are coming straight from my brain during sleepless nights. I often wake up in the middle of the night from horrible nightmares and just start writing songs. For whatever reason, I like the lyrics that I get that way, they feel real and uncensored. This song is one that I wrote at 4am in the dark, half asleep. In the morning I woke up and thought, ‘This is cool, I’m going to use this, and I know just the music to put it to’. The musical dynamics in the song are very satisfying to sing to as well. I hope you like it!”
War Eternal can now be pre-ordered digitally in Europe at iTunes and AmazonMP3 with the tracks ‘War Eternal’ and ‘As The Pages Burn’ available as instant downloads upon purchase (a third track, ‘You Will Know My Name’, will be instantly downloaded on May 26th).
