Quiet Riot To Release “Road Rage” August 4th

June 2nd, 2017
by Celtic Bob

Quiet Riot continues their historic journey in 2017 with their new album, “Road Rage”. Led by drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by veteran bassist Chuck Wright (who has been in and out of the band since 1982), guitarist Alex Grossi (who has been in the band since 2004), and new vocalist James Durbin, the band continues to be an unstoppable force in the rock ‘n roll world.

“The recordings for the new “Road Rage” record have been an incredible musical journey in the storied history of Quiet Riot. I asked vocalist James Durbin to fill the very large shoes of the late great Kevin DuBrowbecause Iknew he could. While no one can ever replace Kevin DuBrow, he has the same spirit and drive that Kevin had. James is an amazing live performer with insane vocal range, but he is also a very gifted songwriter and brought to the “Road Rage” record totally uniqueoriginal lyrics and melodies.  Not only do they fit perfectly to the music we wrote, but took the songs to a completely new level. All the work that we have put into this record has been well worth the wait! I am extremely proud of guitarist Alex Grossi, bassist Chuck Wright and especially James Durbin for the work we have created on this record. Quiet Riot continues to tour relentlessly and will be on the road throughout the year.  Expect to hear your Quiet Riot favorites as well as new songs from “Road Rage” at our shows!” exclaims Frankie Banali.

New frontman James Durbin comments on joining the band and his work on “Road Rage”.

“The crown-jewel, on top of joining one of your favorite bands, has to be writing, recording & releasing a new album. No matter what, you are now a part of that band’s history & I’m honored to have had the opportunity to do that with Quiet Riot. I spent just over 3 weeks marathon song-writing brand new lyrics and melodies for every song & recording vocals. I’m extremely proud of the “Road Rage” record, not only that I had the band’s support & trust to deliver, or how great of a personal accomplishment & blessing it’s been, but that we can keep the Quiet Riot freak flag flying & have the chance to inspire a new generation of fans!”

“Road Rage” was originally scheduled for release in the spring of 2017, but with the injection of newfound energy for the band with the addition of American Idol alumni James Durbin in the vocalist slot, the band decided to scrap the original sessions and record a new version of the album with the new and improved line-up. The results are everything Quiet Riot fans could have hoped for! “Road Rage” is set for release August 4, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Quiet Riot is a rock & roll phenomenon. Famously known as the first heavy metal band to top the pop charts, the Los Angeles quartet became a global sensation thanks to their monstrous smash hit album, 1983’s “Metal Health”. That album topped the Billboard album charts for several months and the follow up album; “Condition Critical” went double platinum. The band has continued to record and tour throughout the decades following.

Frankie Banali’s history with QUIET RIOT spans over 34 years and he has the distinction of being the only member of QUIET RIOT to have recorded on every single QUIET RIOT release since the release of their now classic album, “Metal Health”. After nearly ten years since the loss of his friend and bandmate Kevin DuBrow, and with careful consideration, soul searching, and the blessings and support of Kevin DuBrow’s family, Frankie has moved forward with the band to bring the fans “Road Rage”!

Musically, “Road Rage” offers exactly what you would expect from Quiet Riot. Arena ready hard rock with strong hooks and infectious riffs, along with maturity in the songwriting that only a band with such a history and pedigree can offer.

Quiet Riot has come back stronger than ever, in perfect METAL HEALTH with the new album, “Road Rage”! Catch them on the road this summer!

HammerFall “extensive Glory To The Brave session” planned for album’s 20th anniversary

June 2nd, 2017
by EvilG
Hammerfall - Glory To The Brave

Hammerfall – Glory To The Brave

Since this is the 20th anniversary of HammerFall’s debut album Glory To The Brave, the band has decided to do something very special to celebrate this milestone. At Bang Your Head Festival in Germany and Sabaton Open Air Festival in Sweden, they members will be joined on stage by Swedish Grammy nominees Draupner (featuring 3-time key-fiddle world champion Magnus Holmström) for an extensive Glory To The Brave session that you won’t see anywhere else.

Singer Joacim Cans exclaims: “I have worked with these wizards of folk music before, and what they are capable of doing on their instruments is almost impossible. If Yngwie Malmsteen played key-fiddle his name would be Magnus Holmström. This will truly be an epic and unforgettable addition to the live set!”

Draupner represents the timeless Swedish folk music tradition and will put their very unique stamp on some of the HammerFall classics. Expect something very much out of the ordinary for this segment, as no other band on this level has incorporated the Swedish folk music and made the tradition come alive in a heavy metal setting. This will be reserved for the headline slot of these two festivals and nowhere else.

Catch HammerFall live this year:

June 2 Rock Fest Plzen, Czech Republic
June 23 Rock am Härtzfeldsee Dischingen, Germany

GRUMPYNATORS Premiere New Video For “Then We Cried”

June 2nd, 2017
by Celtic Bob

”Then we Cried” is the 2nd single from Grumpynators new album, “City Of Sin”. “The song is about a anti-hero, who is also described on “Walked Away” from “Wonderland”, who has some problems which basically origins from his own personality. A lot of people can probably relate to the clown in the video, who tries his best, but still just fails to succeed. The video has been recorded and produced by Emil Vinther Sørensen, who have also made the videos to “The Stalker” and “Burning In The Snow”.

More Grumpynators info:

Grumpynators release their second album supported by Jacob Hansen and Rob Caggiano (Volbeat, ex. Anthrax).

The 24th of March Danish rock/metal act Grumpynators will release their second album entitled “City of Sin”.

“It is the difficult second album” says guitarist, Christian Noergaard and continues: ”It has been vital for us to make this record a lot stronger than the debut. This is one of the reasons why we choose Jacob Hansen to produce and mix it”. Michael H. Andersen, Mighty Music follows up: “I think Grumpynators is entering a whole new league on this album, both in terms of songwriting, vocal performance and overall expression”.

The 12 track album is a product of a joint work process between the 4 musicians in the band. In addition, they have Rob Caggiano as guest guitarist on “Far Away”, a song where he is playing solos, fills and themes.

The band recorded drums and guitars together with Jakob Gundel (Black Book Lodge/Invocator) and vocal recording, mix and mastering was done by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, and Pretty Maids).

Artwork for “City Of Sin” is created by Karsten Sand (Volbeat, Mike Tramp).

Since the debut album from 2015, “Wonderland”, Grumpynators have played a lot in Denmark and Germany. Highlights of 2016 was when they were selected for a “Gaffa-price” as Danish Hard Rock Release of the year, when they were nominated for a High Voltage Award as Danish Alternative Release Of The Year and when they performed at Copenhell.

Steelfest 2017

June 1st, 2017
by Arto Lehtinen

Steelfest is known for the sonic pleasure of the most obscure and brutal bands sharing two stages. The festival once again had an extremely strong line-up offering killer bands from the front lines of the death/black metal genre from below and above the underground. Even though the festival is kind of small, it has an intimate feel. All those ones attending the fest definitely know what  to expect to witness during these two days.  The normal weekend metal maniacs are more or less rare to be seen at the festival. Steelfest is hailed as one of the greatest festivals with all extreme bands on the bill. It was a huge pleasure to see the crowd from abroad at the fest. The Metal-Rules.com team spent the whole weekend at Steelfest, witnessing killer bands… All Hail \,,/

Groundbreaking Iranian Alt-Metal Band TARANTIST Releases New Album “Not A Crime” Today

June 1st, 2017
by EvilG

Available Today via iTunes and More Digital Retailers

Listen to a New Track, “Rain, Pour Down”, Here:

Formed in 2000 by a group of young underground metal heads, TARANTIST originated in the basement alternative rock and heavy metal scenes in their native Tehran, Iran. Having to perform secretly-but-loudly often proved to be difficult, but after sparking a following via word of mouth in the underground, the band soon began to garner international recognition. Within just a few years, international media correspondents inspired by their story (including BBC, SKY, CNN, NPR, Metal Hammer and Kerrang) started visiting Tehran to meet and talk with TARANTIST. These news reports and articles aided TARANTIST in cultivating a worldwide following – motivating the band to relocate to the United States Los Angeles in 2008.

Third Annual “Ride For Ronnie” Motorcycle Rally and Concert Raises $40,000 for Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund

June 1st, 2017
by Celtic Bob

“Steven Adler and Friends” All-Star Jam and Performances by Lynch Mob, Dio Disciples, Eddie Money, Rough Cutt, The Loveless, Sonia Harley and No Small Children Highlight Afternoon Concert in Los Encinos Park

Despite the continuous threat of rain, the third annual RIDE FOR RONNIE Motorcycle Rally and Concert, held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, attracted motorcycle enthusiasts and rock music fans alike and raised $40,000 for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.  Dio Cancer Fund co-founder and president Wendy Dio led the procession of some 200 motorcycle riders for the morning RIDE from Harley-Davidson of Glendale to Los Encinos Park in Encino.  She was joined by Sons of Anarchy actors Emilio Rivera (and also star of the forthcoming Mayans MC series), Sean McNabb (who also performed with Lynch Mob at the concert) and Star Fields, as well as actors Al Coronel (The Last Ship) and Chris Bruno (The Dead Zone) and musicians Lita Ford, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, who claimed to be on the oldest bike in the RIDE and Xavier Muriel (Buckcherry), plus Dio Cancer Fund Medical Director Dr. Sandy Kapoor and KLOS Radio “Horns Up” show personality Stew Herrera.

The afternoon of live music following the RIDE, hostedby radio and television personality Eddie Trunk, was kicked off by the trio of rockin’ schoolteachers known as No Small Children.  Performances by Sonia Harley, The Loveless, Eddie Money and Rough Cutt followed. Rough Cutt concluded its set with a performance of “Stars,” the song released in 1986 by Hear ‘N Aid, an organization spearheaded by the original Dio band to raise money for famine relief in Africa.  Rough Cutt members Paul Shortino, Dave Alford, Amir Derakh, Chris Hager, and Matt Thorne were joined on stage by Lita Ford, Ronnie James Dio’s cousin David “Rock” Feinstein (Elf, The Rods), Brittany Denaro (Vixen), Patrick Stone (Budderside), Sean McNabb (Lynch Mob), Joe Retta, Bjorn Englen and Scott Warren of Dio Disciples, Ace Von Johnson (Faster Pussycat) and legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads’ brother Kelle Rhoads for the song.

Next up, Steven Adler and Friends took to the stage for an all-star jam featuring the Guns N’ Roses drummer along with Mike Devin (Whitesnake), Lita Ford, Robert Sarzo (Hurricane), Alex Grossi (Quiet Riot), Patrick Stone (Budderside) and Jeff Pilson (Foreigner and former Dio guitarist), playing three Guns N’ Roses hits.

Rousing sets by Dio Disciples and headliners Lynch Mob rounded out the afternoon of music.  The threatening skies finally let loose during Lynch Mob’s last song, drenching the audience as they headed out of the park.

A silent auction, raffle and live auction, which included Eddie Money’s stage-worn full-length leather trenchcoat from his 2000 “Millennium Tour” and a Great White acoustic guitar signed by the band members brought in additional donations during the event.

Wendy Dio and Dr. Sandy Kapoor presented a check for $25,000 to Dr. David Wong of the UCLA School of Dentistry to further his team’s research into the development of a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer.  Dr. Wong told the crowd that the recognized support from the Dio Cancer Fund has already brought his project additional funding.

The family of Randy Rhoads-his sister Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio and brother Kelle Rhoads-joined Wendy Dio on stage to show their support for the work of the Dio Cancer Fund, presenting the organization with a donation in memory of their late brother.

Additionally, 95.5 KLOS, Los Angeles’ premier rock radio station, came on board this year as an event sponsor and was out in force, bringing its Frosty, Heidi & Frank RV to Harley Davidson in Glendale for the start of the RIDE.  KLOS radio personalities Melissa Maxx and Stew Herrera helped out with the hosting duties at the concert.  Other event sponsors included Ninkasi Brewing Company, Graffiti Wine, Solar Rain Water, Harley-Davidson of Glendale, Law Tigers and Bigg Time Entertainment.  Slammin Sliders, G’s Taco Spot, Hungry Nomad and Archie’s Ice Cream food trucks were on hand at the park.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund (www.diocancerfund.org) was formed in memory of the legendary rock singer Ronnie James Dio, who lost his life to gastric cancer in 2010.   A privately funded 501(c)(3) public charity, the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has already raised nearly $2 million since its inception.  Monies raised have been committed to the cancer research work of the T. J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research, the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life, and other cancer research projects. Most recently, the Dio Cancer Fund has committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund’s mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

About VENOM INC:
In 2015, a chance encounter brought an offer to Tony Dolan (vocals, bass) to reform the line-up of Venom that had recorded the classic Prime Evil album and solid follow-up albums. These classics kept the band very much alive during the onslaught of Grunge and Brit Pop that destroyed all but the most-hardy in the early 90’s. Dolan seized the opportunity to continue the Venom legacy that had begun when current bandmates Jeff Dunn (aka Mantas on guitar), along with Tony Bray (Abaddon, drums), formed the original band in 1979 and brought the world extreme metal in the form of the Welcome To Hell and Black Metal albums. Topped off in the beginning by the voice of Clive “Jesus Christ” Archer (and later by Cronos and “The Demolition Man” Tony Dolan), Venom was – and still is – a force of nature.

VENOM INC upholds the true intention of Venom that began in 1979, and vows to rekindle the original spirit that was lost over the years. For every single Legionnaire from Venom’s Legions and new fans alike, VENOM INC will continue to grow and perform the classics with heart, soul and true meaning.

Frontiers Music Srl To Release Third Album From World Trade, “Unify”, on August 4th!

June 1st, 2017
by Celtic Bob

Composed of some of L.A.’s most recognized studio and songwriting talents, Billy Sherwood, Guy Allison, and Bruce Gowdy, World Trade will release their third album, “Unify” on August 4, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Lead vocalist and main songwriter, Billy Sherwood has been a fixture of the L.A. studio and recording scene since the mid-80’s. Billy’s talents range from producing a Grammy nominated album for Paul Rodgers to being the current bass player of YES, handpicked by Chris Squire to replace him before his untimely death. He also recently joined up with Asia as a replacement for John Wetton after his passing for the band’s current US tour with Journey.

“World Trade was always a very special band, with a unique sound. It’s amazing all these years later to be able to make another record and have it feel just as special as the first,” says Sherwood.

Guy Allison and Bruce Gowdy, a pair of musicians also known for being behind the awesome melodic rock band Unruly Child, and drummer Mark T. Williams (son of famed composer John Williams and brother of Toto singer Joseph) round out the line-up.

“World Trade was always one of my favorite bands that I had the pleasure to be involved in. We are a real bunch of creative souls. Our debut record had such a great vibe and our new CD ‘Unity’ does as well!  To our fans, we hope we can come out and play for you soon,” says Bruce Gowdy.

“If I had heard World Trade back when I was an impressionable young man (one who fell in love with the band U.K. on the very first listen), they would have made a lifelong impression on me. I’m very proud to have been a part of that musical journey with some of my very best friends,” adds Guy Alliison.

No doubt that World Trade is a world-class band in every sense. “Unify” is a mature sounding recording reflective of the years of experience within the band. With great songwriting, excellent vocals, and immense production values, this album will appeal to fans of Toto ‘s most recent releases and 90125/Big Generator-era Yes, as well as fans of other progressive rock bands who value musicianship and songwriting craft.

“Unify” Track Listing:
1.The New Norm
2. Where We’re Going
3. Pandora’s Box
4. On Target On Time
5. Gone All The Way
6. Unify
7. For The Fallen
8. Lifeforce
9. Same Old Song
10. Again

WORLD TRADE Line Up

Songs like “Six Feet Below,” “Gomorrah,” “Inhuman” and “Upside Down” are infectious rockers. The first single “Reload” is a frenetic composition that showcases the musicianship of these accomplished performers. Alter Bridge/Tremonti songwriter Mark Tremonti co-wrote “Rectify” and “Call Me The Devil” and Sevendust’s Morgan Rose co-wrote “Concede” with the band. A teaser video for the release can be seen at: https://youtu.be/di_ceQJSoVU.

On the subject of Projected’s new record, John Connolly comments, “There are four very strong personalities in this band. Everyone has been in the business doing various things, from Alter Bridge to Creed to Sevendust to Tremonti and it took all those elements and sounds to make this album what it is!”

Scott Phillips adds, “We’re all part of other bands that we’ve put our heart and soul and life into and this was just a chance to extend that into somewhat of a different direction.”

Guitarist Eric “E-Rock” Friedman comments, “When I think Projected, the first words that come to my mind is a very raw and honest band.  Things aren’t overthought. It’s very organic.”

Says bassist Vinnie Hornsby, “We’ve been playing so long together, you know it’s kinda’ like a marriage to a certain degree, it really warms my heart to be able to play with my friends and these great musicians.”

The track listing for Ignite My Insanity is:

Projected formed in 2012 when longtime friends John Connolly (Sevendust), Vinnie Horsnby (Sevendust), Scott Phillips (Alter Bridge/Creed) and Eric “E-Rock” Friedman (Tremonti) decided to create some music together. While all members are successful in their mainstay bands, Projected afforded the members a chance to explore some different ideas musically. In September 2012, the band self-released their debut album Human and is currently looking for breaks in their respective schedules to bring the music to their fans in a live setting.
