In 2011, the rock world lost an incredibly gifted singer and songwriter, a man whose voice reverberated around the world on such blockbuster hits as “Cherry Pie,” “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries,” “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” and the unforgettable ballad “Heaven.” Jani Lane joined Warrant in 1985, and together the band lit up the L.A. club circuit, becoming an international sensation with multi-platinum albums and an adoring fanbase. Always a music lover at heart, after Lane left Warrant in 2004, he continued to write and record, often paying homage to some of his musical heroes by participating in tribute projects to Cheap Trick, Judas Priest and others. Now a new CD compilation collects some of these superb solo performances in one convenient package and for the first time ever on vinyl! Catch A Falling Star, which includes Lane’s takes on UFO’s “Doctor, Doctor,” Def Leppard’s “Photograph,” and Bon Jovi’s epic “Lay Your Hands On Me, will be released February 26 on Deadline Music.
In addition to guest appearances by two of Lane’s bandmates, guitarist Erik Turner & bassist Jerry Dixon, Catch A Falling Star includes liner notes by former Warrant drummer Bobby Borg who shares his personal recollections of Lane. There is “no better tribute to Lane than a collection of covers,” Borg writes, “Those who saw Warrant perform live know that Lane loved to mix cover songs into the show…songs by The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Queen, and other artists throughout our live sets. (I loved that about the band.).” Speaking of Lane’s distinctive vocal style, Borg writes “Lane was able to convey the subject matter of a song emotionally—whether soft and heartfelt or loud and aggressive—while always maintaining a certain charm as if he were grinning warmly.” This collection is the perfect way to remember both the man and immense musical gifts, and is sure to leave a warm grin on the face of his fans everywhere.

Heaven and Hell Records releases Denial ‘No Comment’
In the late 80s and early 1990s thrash metal was at an all time high in the United States. A musical assault as if a response to all the fluffy hairballs out there rocking for the cock and masquerading as heavy metal. These bands of disenfranchised youth popped up all over the country bring with them speed, aggression, and a message, DEATH TO POSERS!
North Carolina’s response to this metallic blitzkrieg was a foursome from Charlotte who went by the name of DENIAL.
Lead by vocalist/guitar Jeff Triece, along with guitarist Keith Earnhardt, and rhythm section John Lawton on bass, and drummer Kelly Rodgers. The band delivered a fine blend of crossover thrash metal akin to their peers such as Sacred Reich, D.R.I., and Evildead. Their political based lyrical themes were common in the sub-genre, however helped to set them apart from other bands where they were from.
In 1990 DENIAL would release a self-release 6 song EP entitled ‘No Comment’. This release would lead to their signing to New Renaissance Records and the release of the Antichrist President album the following year in 1991. But even though the Ed Repka cover was creative it failed to catch many people’s attention due to poor promotion and bad timing. This would send DENIAL on a descent into cult underground status.
Doing what Heaven and Hell Records do DENIAL shall be heard again in early 2016 with the re-issue of No Comment on CD. The release titled Still No Comment will include the full EP, bonus studio tracks, and additional live tracks. Re-mastering provided by Jamie King, and new artwork by Steve Cobb. This release will be a limited edit of 500.
More details as they come available.
Brazilian band Almah lead by ex-Angra singer Edu Falaschi keep working at their 5th studio album, as yet untitled. The first part of Studio reports is available now on the official Youtube channel of the band. It is dedicated to pre-production sessions and composing of new songs.
The 5th Almah album is planned to be released in 2016. Furher details will be revealed soon.
ALMAH was established in 2006 by Edu Falaschi who was ANGRA’s frontman at that time and released 4 studio albums. The latest studio effort ‘Unfold’ was released at the end of 2013 via Scarlet Records. Unfold World Tour started at Rock In Rio 2013 festival, passed through various countries in South America and Europe and was finalized in September 2015 at ProgPower Festival in USA.
When two German power metal legends join forces to tour, it is always a positive thing, at least for the fans. Helloween is one of the most popular bands in their genre, and the band released its 16’th studio album MY GOD GIVEN RIGHT in May of 2015. The band is a familiar visitor to Finland, and they have played here almost every year for the past 10 years. Rage, in turn, has undergone major changes in recent times. The band’s previous visit to Finland was in 2006, ten years ago, so this was set to be an interesting event for fans of both bands.
First North American Shows In Support of His Latest Solo Album Brand New Revolution
World renowned, Greek guitar phenomenon, GUS G (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind), will embark on a mini North American headlining tour from April 15th to April 24th. Be sure to either see below or head over to http://www.gusgofficial.com for all tour dates and any additional information and daily updates. (see attached ad-mat)
GUS G states: “I’m very excited to play my first US and Canada shows in support of my new album Brand New Revolution! I purposely decided to do select, VERY exclusive and intimate shows for my die-hard followers. I know it’s been long overdue and I hope to see you all there for some loud, hot and sweaty rocking nights.
“I will be playing mainly material from my two solo albums, but there will be some classic Firewind, Ozzy and Black Sabbath songs sprinkled into the set as well. These shows are not to be missed.”
Brand New Revolution was recorded with Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax, Steel Panther, etc.) and mixed by Mike Fraser (Metallica, AC/DC, Van Halen, Aerosmith, etc.). Just as on “I Am The Fire”, the core of GUS G.’s recording group consisted of Jo Nunez (Firewind) on drums and Marty O’ Brien (Lita Ford band) on bass.
The album’s ripping, all-instrumental lead-off track, “The Quest,” can also now be streamed exclusively at the link below.
Interview with Scott Reigel, Lead Vocals for Brutality
February 6, 2016
Interview by InfamousButhcer
Brutality has been part of the Florida Death Metal scene for nearly 30 years. Although not as well-known as their peers Obituary and Deicide, their albums SCREAMS OF ANGUISH and WHEN THE SKY TURNS BLACK are revered as Death Metal classics. Last month they released SEA OF IGNORANCE, their first full length album in 20 years. Response to the album has been very positive from fans and critics alike. I was lucky enough to catch up with their vocalist Scott Reigel to discuss the new album and some Brutality history.
Judas Priest’s tour in support of their 17th studio album overall, Redeemer of Souls, was one of the most extensive of the group’s entire career – consisting of 130 shows in 33 countries, and offering a setlist that touched upon selections from nearly all of their classic albums. And now, fans can relive the live Priest experience once more, with the release of the new CD/DVD/Blu-ray, Battle Cry, on March 25th, 2016, via Epic Records (preview available for viewing here http://smarturl.it/JudasPriestDVD
Recorded live on August 1st, 2015 at Germany’s Wacken Festival in front of an audience of 85,000, Battle Cry is available on a 15-track CD, with the entire show on Blu-ray and DVD (running over 94 minutes), as well as digital audio and video formats. The DVD and Blu-ray also contains 3 bonus tracks shot in Poland on December 10th, 2015 at The Ergo Arena, Gdansk, Poland.
What makes the show’s track listing so appealing is it balances new classics (“Dragonaut,” “Halls of Valhalla,” “Redeemer of Souls”) along with headbanging classics (“Metal Gods,” “Electric Eye,” “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming”), as well as key album tracks from yesteryear (“Devil’s Child,” “Beyond the Realms of Death,” “Jawbreaker”).
Originally formed during the early ’70s in Birmingham, England, Priest is responsible for offering metal fans worldwide some of the genre’s most influential and landmark albums (1980’s ‘British Steel,’ 1982’s ‘Screaming for Vengeance,’ 1990’s ‘Painkiller,’ etc.), while helping spread metal music to audiences not normally associated with the genre (Live Aid in 1985, and a surprise appearance on American Idol in 2011), and helping popularize the now instantly recognizable “denim and leather” look.
For decades, Judas Priest has been one of the greatest live bands in the entire heavy metal genre. And as evidenced by Battle Cry, Priest rock harder and more ferociously than ever.

HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, the supergroup featuring international film star and musician Johnny Depp alongside Alice Cooper and AEROSMITH’s Joe Perry, paid tribute to late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister by performing the MOTÖRHEAD classic “Ace Of Spades” last night (Monday, February 15) at the Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dave Grohl introduced the VAMPIRES’ appearance by saying:
“Many of us play rock and roll, but very few of us are rock and roll. Lemmy Kilmister was rock and roll. He was a rebel and an outsider, one of a kind and a way of life. He was MOTÖRHEAD. He was a legend and I was proud to call him my friend. I have an ‘Ace Of Spades’ tattoo, but the truth is Lemmy and MOTÖRHEAD left their mark on me a long time ago, just as they did for everybody who’s ever loved rock and roll. As Lemmy taught us in ‘Ace Of Spades’, the pleasure is to play. So tonight, I wanna thank Lemmy and the late Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor for their music and everything it meant.”

Legendary singer MICHAEL MONROE and Ultimate Classic Rock have teamed up to premiere the video for “Goin’ Down With the Ship” from MONROE’s 2015-released album Blackout States. The video arrives just as MONROE and his band hit U.S. shores for a two-week tour.
“The song is not necessarily about sailing or seamanship as such,” MONROE explained. “It’s basically about us getting on the tour bus and hitting the road with our band. Ville Juurikkala, who shot the videos for ‘Ballad of the Lower East Side,’ ‘Stained Glass Heart,’ and ‘Old King’s Road’ has done this new one, too. It was pretty easy to make and includes some footage shot by the band while we were on tour.
“I think the video has a good vibe and we’re all happy with the way it turned out. Hope you enjoy it!”
