It may say The Forum above the door, but tonight this is the church of Clutch. Say hallelujah and enter all ye with the luck to have a ticket; it’s promised that you will leave changed. If they call rock a religion then Clutch are surely some offshoot branch that’s not always widely acknowledged but really touch something inside the attracted masses. They say God has a plan – well Clutch must feature in there somewhere.
Thanks to Tom Hack for setting up the interview.
Thanks to Massacre Records for providing the promo pictures.
Denmark’s deadliest thrash metal weapon Hatesphere released their 8th album last year called MURDERLUST. I had the amazing opportunity to talk to the only remaining original member guitarist/band leader Pepe and together we handled subjects like the new album, the co-operation with legendary producer Tue Madsen and the line-ups that have come and gone amongst other things. Enjoy!

The Gamma Ray / Rhapsody of Fire package tour was certainly one of the most anticipated power metal gigs in the spring in Finland. Gamma Ray just released their album EMPIRE OF THE UNDEAD which is their strongest album in ages and Rhapsody of Fire now finally played in Helsinki for the first time since 2001, so it wasn’t surprising that the show in club Tavastia sold out a long time ago. It left in the air the question of whether the bands should have played more than one gig in Finland this time.
The legendary BODY COUNT (featuring Ice-T on vocals) triumphantly returns with their much anticipated, new full-length album, Manslaughter, which is set for a June 10th release.
BODY COUNT will be performing a special, one-off record release headlining show at The Gramercy in NYC on June 12th with Madball as direct support (admat attached) If you want to attend the show please let me know asap

Just few days before Swedish metallers Katatonia roll into the city of London to play their acoustic show at The Union Chapel as a part of their Unplugged & Reworked tour, Metal-Rules.com UK team had a wonderful opportunity to catch up with Anders Nyström (guitar) and talk through their latest and critically acclaimed release Dethroned and Uncrowned and the acoustic tour itself.
For the first time in 74 years, last night was a night not illuminated by the indescribable light that was H.R. Giger.
H.R. Giger became our mentor, against all odds, when we, somewhat audaciously, first established contact with him some 30 years ago. At a time when almost everybody ridiculed, ignored, or even obstructed the music the then almost completely unknown Swiss underground band Hellhammer was creating, Giger listened to us, talked to us, and gave us a chance. Not least at a time when he was at one of many peaks of his path.
A little more than a year later, his exceptionally stunning art made what might be one of Celtic Frost’s most important albums, To Mega Therion, even more significant. Other links to Giger’s universe also manifested themselves, almost as if it was predestined.
Eventually, after many more years, the mentorship became a friendship. It was a friendship and a personal connection I valued infinitely, and it also included his wonderful wife, Carmen, and many other remarkable people that were part of his universe.
When Celtic Frost came to an end so acrimoniously in 2008, H.R. Giger and his wife were among those who witnessed my uncontained despair and stood by me. That Giger subsequently agreed to collaborate with my new group, Triptykon, and thus enabled us to release our first album, Eparistera Daimones, with one of his most dramatic paintings on the cover meant the world to me.
It apparently pleased Giger, too. He told me so on several occasions, and he completely stunned me in October 2011 by proposing that we continue the collaboration between him and Triptykon. I would have never asked for such a thing, because I never would have wanted to appear insatiable. He brushed such reservations aside, and it was his mentorship, friendship, and art that enabled us, once again, to release a second album on which music and cover art formed a seamless symbiosis. Only a few weeks ago, he held the result in his hands and loved it.
Regardless of anything I may write about H.R. Giger, however, none of these words will ever be able to truly, accurately describe him as a person and as a friend. It is utterly inconceivable to imagine a world without his wit, his perception, his genius, his horizon, his determination, his humour, his friendship, and his immeasurable kindness. And yet, we are now left in exactly such a world.
We join Alissa White-Gluz and Micheal Amott in the Century Media Records offices in Camden Town, right by the Camden Lock in London, UK, and just a bridge away from arguably the most frequented metal bar in the area. The setting is pleasantly metal on a tranquil spring afternoon.
Arch Enemy has received a lot of publicity lately, following the announcement in March that Angela Gossow will be stepping down as a vocalist. Plus their new album, War Eternal (2014), is on its way out. We are curious to find out more.

A founding member of Greek brutal metallers, In Utero Cannibalism, Miltos has providing guidance for many fundamental bands in the scene and now hangs his hat with IUC, a band with a mortal guttural obsessionand he gave us a piece of their collective and individual minds.
