VoiVod

Canadian progressive metal pioneers VOIVOD have begun work on a video for the title track of their Century Media debut album, Target Earth. The video, created by Italian filmmaker and multimedia artist, Nicola Piovesan, will recreate in 3D Motion Graphics the visions and artwork of VOIVOD drummer, Away (Michel Langevin). The DVD and Blu-ray versions offer fully restored film footage of the complete concert available for the first time. The audio on the 2CD and double LP is fully remastered.

Finding The Sacred Heart – Live In Philly 1986 was recorded at The Spectrum in Philadelphia on June 17, 1986 during the second leg of the “Sacred Heart” tour, which featured new guitarist Craig Goldy. The show was issued in an edited form first on VHS and then DVD. Now for the first time, the full concert is being released as a double LP in the original running order and with remastered sound. It’s an extraordinary live show with a giant animatronic dragon towering over the stage and spectacular laers and pyrotechnics. The line-up for the show is Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Vinny Appice (drums); Jimmy Bain (bass); Craig Goldy (guitar); Claude Schnell (keyboards)

The show features the Dio classics “Holy Diver,” “Don’t Talk To Strangers,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Children,” “Sacred Heart,” “Stand Up And Shout,” “Rainbow In The Dark,” and “We Rock” plus other classic tracks from Ronnie James Dio’s career including “Heaven And Hell,” “Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll,” and “Man On The Silver Mountain”.

Britain’s EVILE will be celebrating this year’s Record Store Day by releasing a split 7″ picture disc vinyl with Swedish death metal legends ENTOMBED.

The limited edition release will feature ENTOMBED’s classic 1990 track, “Drowned”, along with EVILE’s incredible 2012 cover version, available on vinyl for the first time.  The 7″ will be available in independent record stores on Saturday, April 20th in strictly limited quantities.

Local favourites EVILE will also be performing a special show for fans at Crash Records in Leeds, UK on April 20th at 4pm.  Space is limited, but fans who buy the 7″ vinyl from Crash Records on the day will get free entry to the show (space permitting).

Dutch progressive metallers TEXTURES are excited to announce that Joe Tal will replace Jochem Jacobs who left the band earlier this year.

Joe had to say this about joining TEXTURES:

“I am really superexcited about this, it was a lot of fun doing the audition and jamming with the guys. It feels great to say I’m a part of the group now and I can’t wait to actually get started.”

The band’s official comment:

“It was a big setback for us to see Jochem leave TEXTURES. Jochem was a driving force behind the band from the beginning and helped the band get to where we are right now. But Joe gives us more than enough reason to continue our journey with loads of new ideas and riffs. His diversity, personality, musical taste, the background of the band and of course his great technique were the reasons why we chose Joe to become our new guitarist. This makes us want to play shows and write new music even more than we already did!!”

Vreid – Interview with vocalist and guitarist Sture Dingsøyr

It’s not only phoenixes that rise out of ashes, there are some bands that have has a similar birth. Vreid, or Wrath as their name translates, are one such outfit brought to life following a tragic death in former band Windir. After six strongly received albums though it’s clear that Vreid is far more than just a fill-in for what once was, bringing together the black metal’s untempered edge with the groove of rock n roll, and just a touch of Windir’s ambiance. Giving us a wave is vocalist and guitarist Sture Dingsøyr as he talks new release Welcome Farewell, and what’s been happening since it said hello….

Former AC/DC Bassist Mark Evans

Former AC/DC bass player Mark Evans is auctioning off a gold record award for High Voltage in order to raise funds to help the Sydney Secondary College girls soccer team travel from Australia to Hawaii in April 2013 to represent their school in international competition. The award was presented to Mark by Atlantic Records France to signify the sale of 100,000 for the High Voltage album, the Australian band’s first European release.

Bidding began at AU$495.00 and currently stands at AU$2000.00. Mark will personally write a message to the highest bidder on the back of the framed award after bids close on March 26. The auction may be viewed at this location:

AVANTASIA – The Mystery Of Time

On March 22nd the new AVANTASIA single “Sleepwalking” will hit the online stores for downloading. Tobias and AVANTASIA have also shot a video clip for the song. Check out the images below to get an impression of what the Sleepwalking video will look and feel like. The video was shot in a magical forest in Germany on a snowy winter‘s night. Tobias comments: “It was far below freezing. And there we were, standing in the snow storm for hours, walking through a haunted forest. It felt a bit like Sleepy Hollow meets Brothers Grimm, but the pictures that came out were really great and compensated for the torture.”

About the song itself Tobias says: “Sleepwalking is the most enchanting pop song I’ve ever written. Yes, it’s a pop song, and I am the first to admit it. I love stuff like A-Ha, Cutting Crew, Enya and Sarah Brightman. You know, the whole album is a journey, someone said, that “The Mystery Of Time“ is the most adventurous AVANTASIA album to date. What makes AVANTASIA what it is, is its diversity. We have five double bass songs, two big epics, a beautiful flamboyantly orchestrated ballad, and monumental mid tempo groovy stuff with big choirs. AVANTASIA has always been defined by its diversity and mingling of styles. It is an Epic Metal record and there are so many different things to be discovered, you have to give the album at least ten listens to discover half of what’s going on. Sleepwalking are four wonderful minutes out of 60 minutes, but there is not one song on the album that can represent AVANTASIA on its own, it’s the full 60 minutes you have to pay attention to, to grasp the magic of this piece!”

The new album “The Mystery Of Time” will hit the stores on March 29th, “Sleepwalking” will be released on March 22nd.
