Deadline To Release WAR & PEACE – The Flesh And Blood Sessions On April 23
Deadline Records (a division of Cleopatra Records) will release a special edition of THE FLESH AND BLOOD SESSIONS from War & Peace. The collection includes an unreleased track and liner notes from Jeff Pilson.
War & Peace is the all-star line-up of Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Dio, Foreigner) on lead vocals and guitar, Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Kill Devil Hill) on drums, Michael Diamond (Legs Diamond) on bass, and Randy Hansen on lead guitar.
THE FLESH AND BLOOD SESSIONS contains the original 1988 studio sessions recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios by Angelo Arcuri (Black Sabbath, Dio, Hellion) and mixed by Neil Kernon (Dokken, Queensryche, Kansas), as well as five tracks chiefly put together by Jeff Pilson in the mid 1990s.
Re-mastered by Wyn Davis (Dokken, Dio), THE FLESH AND BLOOD SESSIONS re-issue comes with all new artwork, liner notes by Jeff Pilson, and includes an exclusive bonus track, “Heaven Knows”, featuring guitarist Darren Housholder (Love/Hate), not found on the original 1999 release. Making a guest appearance on “What I Hid Behind” is Robin McAuley, with whom Jeff was working in MSG.
Jeff Pilson is a prolific musician, a multi-instrumentalist who has been in internationally-recognized bands almost his entire career. As evidenced by the musical fire power in War & Peace, Pilson’s collaborations lead to material that holds up in today’s heavy music environment. “To this day I’m frequently asked about this period of the band and thought that putting out this CD could answer many questions,” said Jeff.
THE FLESH & BLOOD SESSIONS Track List:
Kill For The Love Of God
Snake Eyes
If I Put My Love In You
I Don’t Want To Be Lonely
Nailed To The Cross
Idle Worship
Bringing It On
Raising Cain
What I Hide Behind
Heaven Knows

Guitarists Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi) and Howard Leese (Heart, Paul Rodgers), singer and bassist Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion), bassist Steve Priest (Sweet) and drummer Camine Appice (Jeff Beck Group/Vanilla Fudge/Rod Stewart), among others, have each contributed their extraordinary talents to HEAVEN & EARTH’s first two albums: Heaven & Earth Featuring Stuart Smith (1994) and Windows to the World (2000). HEAVEN & EARTH’s groundbreaking debut album, Heaven & Earth Featuring Stuart Smith, is considered a cult classic and brought Smith to the forefront of the guitar elite being compared in the press to Deep Purple’s Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page and garnering Smith the award for “Best Guitarist” and “Best New CD” for three years running at the Los Angeles All Access Music Awards. In the summer of 2012, the guitarist set out to mold HEAVEN & EARTH into a world-class recording and touring band which led to the recording of their new album Dig and now the future has never looked brighter for the band.

SKINEATER Release Video For “Dismantling”
Swedish death metal supergroup SKINEATER, who just released their debut Dermal Harvest last month on Pulversied Records, have premiered a video for the song “Dismantled.”
Produced by Uppsala-based digital production company Oddville, the video has been posted by the band at this location.
De-skinned to perfection, Dermal Harvest showcases some of the most resilient veterans in the Swedish Extreme scene, with past and present members from Wombbath, In Thy Dreams, Dark Funeral, Carnal Forge, Defleshed, etc. The end result is an unstoppable skin-butcher unit literally flaying everything in its path! Never has Death Metal extremity been so well brewed with melodic darkness in a long time.
Recorded at various locations, mixed and mastered at Sweden’s Studio Underground (Carnal Forge, Steel Attack, Fleshcrawl, Necrodeath, etc), and with the striking album artwork designed and conceptualised by Mathias Björkbacka, “Dermal Harvest” is without doubt a world-class audioviolence with sick torturous intent.

MASTERMIND OF THE RETICENT BEGINS BLACK METAL SIDE PROJECT
Chris Hathcock of Reticent acclaim has returned to the realm of extreme music in the form of black metal project, Zeromus. In the vein of bands such as Gorgoroth and Dark Funeral, Zeromus is a straight forward and grim expression of aggression. “I just needed to do something different. The Reticent offers me a lot of emotional release but sometimes you need to just be outright hostile. Rather than sing you just want to scream with as much hatred as you can muster. I love bands like Gorgoroth for their intensity, aggression, and disregard. This is just my diversion to create and release that hostility and have some fun.” Hathcock said he plans to release an album with Zeromus. An EP titled “The Four Fiends” is in the works but release may be delayed due to his work with The Reticent. Two demo tracks have been posted on Reverbnation of the band and can be found at reverbnation.com/zeromus

NORTH CAROLINA THRASH LEGENDS DENIAL ‘No Comment’ EP To Be Re-Issued
Heaven and Hell Records plan to re-issue North Carolina thrash legends Denial ‘No Comment’ EP later in 2013.
Recorded at locally famed Reflection Studios and originally released in 1990 with the line-up of John Lawther (bass), Kelly Rodgers (drums), Joe Walsh (guitar), and Jeff Triece (vocals/guitar). The self-released six songs EP quickly caught on in the thrash metal underground and soon after its release it landed the band a deal with Colossal Records who released the band’s only full length offering ‘Antichrist President’. The band seemed to disappear not long after leaving behind their small mark in the world of thrash metal. Years later with the resurgence of all that is thrash and collector demand Denial’s name would begin to surface once more but with a new generation of headbangers.
Heaven and Hell Records plan to re-issue the classic ‘No Comment…’ EP later this year, re-mastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios, with new artwork by TJ Barber. The release will also include a live soundboard recording that included tracks that were never released.

EUGENIC DEATH PARTS WAYS WITH DRUMMER
Recently Eugenic Death drummer Ian Pasquini has quit the band due to outside personal obligations.
“There were no tensions in the band and no hard feelings, Ian simply had obligations that require his fullest attention. ” -Jonathan McCanless
Coincidentally Pasquini’s departure comes about as Eugenic Death guitarist McCanless joins Indiana’s Steel Aggressor as their new drummer.
The remaining three members of Eugenic Death; Jonathan McCanless, Keith Davis, and Shane Lucas are currently working on the follow up to the 2012 debut ‘Crimes Against Humanity’ entitled ‘Under the Knife’ due for release sometime in 2013.

HEAVEN AND HELL RECORDS TO RELEASE ALL FALSE PROPHET MATERIAL
Heaven and Hell Records will be releasing all the North Carolina False Prophet material on CD early in 2013. As one of the next releases in the Lost Relics collection.
Formed in the late 1980s False Prophet would quickly become one of North Carolina’s leading metal bands and one of the East coast’s most fierce thrash/death metal acts of the early 1990s. Their first self-titled demo released in 1989 gained them promising attention in the underground. But it wasn’t until the release of their full-length ‘Second Death’ in 1991 that the band began to gain mass critical praise from critics and peers. Many of whom saw False Prophet as the next Morbid Angel. Read the rest of this entry »

THE RETICENT ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERS, A FREE EP, AND THE NEXT FULL-LENGTH
A lot is brewing in the world of The Reticent. New members added to the live show, a free EP, and the next full-length.
Recently, The Reticent recruited former Oracle guitarist Robert Kerns as the new resident lead guitarist. This has allowed The Reticent to again return to the stage and begin playing some select live dates.
Fans of the band were quite excited to hear from mastermind Chris Hathcock that there are not one but two albums in the works this year.
The first is an EP of unique interpretations of some yet to be disclosed cover songs. The EP will be titled “Artifice” and will be made available for free (!) via download through Heaven & Hell Records’ website for a limited time. Said Hathcock, “I wanted to do something where I could explore some lesser known songs I enjoy and take some more well known songs and rearrange them. I’m not at all interested in covering bands that The Reticent is already compared to nor covering anything that is already in the ‘progressive’ sphere.
It’s far more interesting to step away from expectation and explore, in my opinion. I think a lot of people will be surprised by some of the tracks on the album and hopefully they won’t be too awful to listen to.”
“Artifice” will be recorded this Spring with a late Spring or early Summer release. Read the rest of this entry »

LEPROUS completes work on new album; reveals title and release dates
After finishing off a very eventful past year of promotions for their previous album release, Bilateral, acclaimed Norwegian progsters LEPROUS entered the studio to start recording their next album after wrapping up their “European Progressive Assault” headlining tour in September/October 2012.
This new album is entitled Coal, and it will be released on May 20th in Europe and on May 28th in North America via InsideOut Music.
LEPROUS singer/synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the release:
“With our upcoming album ‘Coal,’ I feel we are one step closer to a personal expression. Heidi Solberg Tveitan and Vegard Tveitan of Mnemosyne were the producers of this album, together with LEPROUS. They helped us a lot with reaching the full potential of the songs, and the album would not be equally good without their expertise.
Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren @ Fascination Street Studios mixed the material and have made this album shine like nobody else could.
I see less interest in defining music than in creating music, but I will give a short overview on what to expect…
‘Coal’ is a more melancholic and darker album than the more playful ‘Bilateral’. By darker I don’t mean more aggressive, but more severe. There is still a big range in the dynamics, but no jumping between different moods within a song. We cannot wait to show this album to the world!”
Check out a studio-video from the drum recording sessions for Coal here.

PASSION tells the story of tropical birds: they fly free in the skies, but feel a deep unease about their future; they´re afraid that one day they might end up confined in a cage just to satisfy humans desire to have total control over everything around them.
