Today we launch our very own radio station in cooperation with Radio Bandit Sweden. Its something we worked on for quite a while, and we feel really proud of it.
It is a digital radio station which mainly will play Sabaton songs, but also bands who have played or will play at our festival Sabaton Open Air – Rockstad: Falun can be heard there, which ensures that the mix will be just great.
Here you can hear your favourite Sabaton songs 24/7, and also hear us talk about the songs in a way you never heard before. Both historical and fun facts combined with unknown stories from our tours.
We talk Swedish, but you can listen from anywhere in the world.
Tune in and rock!

Blackrat, Visigoth and Gatekrashor; Broken City, Calgary, Alberta, May 6th, 2015
Normally I don’t review too many concerts, let alone local bar shows but this is a bit of an exception. Calgary Metal fan, journalist and local scene supporter Sarah K. recently entered the promotions game and this was her first gig and I wanted to show my support. In addition, I believe, it was the first ever Canadian gig for Metal Blade Recording Artist Visigoth, a historic occasion so I headed down to the bar to check it out and do a quick review. Photos and additional write-up/review courtesy of Jeff B.
Broken City is a small pub in downtown Calgary mostly populated by hipsters, the university crowd and the bar hosts games nights, punk rock bingo and other stuff but on occasion they do host a decent Metal gig. It’s a small venue but fortunately for a Wednesday the place was pretty full. The regulars who showed up play the card game ‘Magic’ ™ looked on with amusement at the small legion of old-school denim and leather crowd who congregated to worship at the altar of steel.
Local favourites hit the stage early, on purpose to let the people who have to work a chance to come out. I wish more promoters/bars did this as going to work at 5:00am (for me) after a late bar show that starts at 11:00pm or later is tough on the system! Local Metal maniac and man-about-town Dan Neild lead his boys ripped through about a 30 minute set of classic, tradtional, old-school (whoever yo want to label it) Metal. Attitude, energy, the band has it all. These guys were born 20 years too late but they embody the spirit of Metal like few others.
As good as they are I had seen both the local bands several times each, for me the real treat was Visigoth from Salt Lake City. These guys have some big buzz and based on some hard work and some very solid demo material they got snapped up by Metal Blade for their full-length debut, THE REVENANT KING, which came out earlier this year. As I said earlier I think this was their first time in Canada and certainly the first time in Calgary. The band played a good chunk of their debut album. Vocalist mentioned he had a cold and actually his speaking voice sounded really rough and scratchy as he chatted between songs but he brought his ‘A’ game and his suffering did not show as he belted out the tunes with power and force. I was pleasantly surprised how many people were singing loan in the audience considering the album has only been out for a few months. The band played (for me) an album highlight ‘Dungeon Master’ which he dedicated to the kids sitting at tables playing ‘Magic’ and they ended off with the one-two punch of the title track and ‘Iron Brotherhood’. The only negative thing I can say was that they sold out of their CD before I could get a copy! They came and conquered and seemed to have a good impression of the hospitality of the local Metal heads.
After a long hiatus of eight or nine months, they returned to the local stage to deliver their Motorhead styled, gritty, blackened metal. They also brought the stage show including a giant upside down cross complete with skull of cow and candles, followed by minimal light and lots of smoke. Great atmosphere and great energy. The crew that was there enjoyed their set a lot there was much head banging. A great way to end the night!
While She Sleeps/Cancer Bats
@ The Forum, London

Co-headline tours always feel like a way for venues/promoters/labels (delete as needed) to hedge their bets – getting two bands that they don’t quite believe have the solo power to shift enough tickets for everyone to afford a sandwich at the end, to team up and hopefully collectively pull in the people.
That description doesn’t seem to ring so true though in the case of Cancer Bats and While She Sleeps. Sheffield metalcore five-aside team While She Sleeps are only on their second full-length album, but seem to have mopped up plenty of support, hype and accolades. Meanwhile Canada’s Cancer Bats have been in this game for ten years and five records, and have proved themselves many times more. Co-headlining just got more interesting…
The BULLETBOYS are back and ready to tear the house down with their new MASSIVE release ELEFANTE on Cleopatra/Deadline Records, June 9th 2015. This long awaited album shows that the BULLETBOYS are unstoppable with their grinding hard rock. Singer Marq Torien’s vocals hit every note with the power that is his trademark. “Can’t wait for our fans to hear this album. I put my heart and soul into this music,” exclaims lead singer Marq Torien. “This album has sick peaks and valleys … it is NOT a linear album. A straight out labor of love that I’ve dedicated to my amazing father, all of our Families and our unfaltering BULLETBOYS fans and friends.”
The band consists of founding member Marq Torien (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Nick Rozz (Guitar), Chad MacDonald (Bass) and Shawn Duncan (Drums). All members pouring their heart and soul into the group’s first album of original material since 2009. ELEFANTE was produced by Matt Thorne (Trapt/Disturbed), Marq Torien and engineered by Ryan Greene (Alice Cooper/Lita Ford/Cheap Trick/Usher). The great Anthony Focx (Miley Cyrus/Aerosmith/Santana/Buckcherry) mastered this new work of art. “Working with the Bulletboys was an amazing experience,” explains Ryan Greene. “Most singers, from back in the 80’s, were pretty good but I will tell you Marq knocked it out of the park on this record. His power and passion was second to none and he can sing in tune! No auto-tune needed, he’s the real freak’n deal. If you think for a second this is going to be some rehashed 80’s record you are completely wrong!”
4. The Villain
5. Kin Folk
6. Saving You From Me
7. As Dumb As
8. Superhuman Girl
9. Drop Your Weapon
10. Bitch Is Back
The BULLETBOYS are best known for their self-titled album BULLETBOYS in 1988 on Warner Bros. Records, releasing two major hits “Smooth Up In Ya” and a remake of the O’Jays “For The Love Of Money” followed by their next album FREAKSHOW with “Hang On St. Christopher (Tom Waits cover), THC Groove and more – both albums produced by Ted Templeman .
The BULLETBOYS will be embarking as the headlining act on a 3 month summer tour which is soon to be announced. “Feel like I’m gonna jump out my Skin .. Can’t wait to take this on the Road with the Fellas!! All year!!! He’ll Yeah!!! Let’s do This!” Marq Torien.
Riki Rachtman’s World Famous Cathouse will return to Southern California for one night of debauchery with Cathouse Live At Irvine Meadows, Saturday, August 15 at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater (recently known as Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre) in Irvine, CA. Riki Rachtman created the original rock dance club that dominated the Hollywood scene from 1986-1993. Now, along with Live Nation and Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE), he’s bringing Cathouse Live to a much larger audience with this decadent music and lifestyle festival.
The initial music lineup for Cathouse Live features some of the defining rock artists of the ‘80s and ‘90s, including an All-Star Jam, Extreme, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Sebastian Bach, Dokken, Faster Pussycat, Stephen Pearcy (the voice of RATT), Saigon Kick, Gilby Clarke, Dangerous Toys, L.A. Guns, Junkyard, Trixter, Autograph, Black ‘N Blue, Tracii Guns, Enuff Z’ Nuff, BulletBoys, Bang Tango, Jetboy, Pretty Boy Floyd, Tuff and Little Caesar.
Cathouse Live will feature band performances on two stages, VIP Meet and Greets, a vendor village, a chopper motorcycle show, tattoo shops, go-go dancers, and more.
“I recently started a Cathouse Hollywood Facebook page and everyone was asking ‘Why don’t you do another Cathouse?’ I loved the idea and mentioned it on Twitter. So many bands told me that they wanted to be a part of it, that I knew that I had to bring it back on a much larger scale. It was too big for a club, so we decided to do a festival,” Rachtman explains. “The music scene isn’t what it was like back then–that type of decadence. We’re going to bring the debauchery of the Cathouse back to Southern California! SoCal needs this kind of rock festival so people will have the chance to go out, have fun and enjoy a great rock show in all its excess. Cathouse was a very successful weekly nightclub for six years, so we’re trying to pack all those years of Cathouse into one night for Cathouse Live. All I want is for those who go to have a good time and say, ‘That was the BEST ROCK FESTIVAL EVER.’”
Tickets for Cathouse Live At Irvine Meadows go on sale Friday, May 15 at 10:00 AM PT at www.CathouseLive.com and start at just $15 plus fees.
Aptly named NOTHIN’ BUT A GOOD TIME, YOUTH GONE WILD, NOBODY RIDES FOR FREE, and RIKI’S BIG PACKAGE, the Cathouse is coming out of the gate with a handful of exclusive experiences and VIP opportunities to get a front row ticket, have a meet and greet and photo with the bands, be backstage in the dressing rooms, watch the show while standing on the main stage, and drink the night away in the Cathouse VIP lounge. All packages and experiences are available at www.CathouseLive.com while they last!
Stephen Pearcy of RATT recalls, “I remember the Cathouse very well…used to go there when off the road with the RATT tours in the ‘80s. Anything and everything went down there. Great jams, good stories in my book about that place. Everybody was somebody or thought they were, and trashed. You knew you had a good time there when you couldn’t remember what you did there the next day! Myself, Riki, Fred Coury, Tracii Guns, Taime and a couple others created a jam band called P.I.G. (Partners In Grime). We only did a few shows, got a bus, went out and had a great time. Places like the Cathouse will never happen again. Those were the dayz.”
The original Hollywood Cathouse was known for its edgy, underground, dirty rock ‘n’ roll vibe that was rooted in punk. It reeked of raunch and pure decadence. Patrons would freely indulge. The DJ played rock ‘n’ roll between unannounced performances from bands like Guns N’ Roses (Cathouse regulars who performed live at the club in 1986 just before their debut record was released), Sebastian Bach, Stephen Pearcy of RATT, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Junkyard, Jetboy, Bang Tango, Saigon Kick, Black ‘N Blue, Little Caesar, and many more. Guns N’ Roses’ video for “It’s So Easy” was shot at the Cathouse, Alice Cooper played one Halloween, and when Ice-T was banned from every Los Angeles club, Riki invited his band Body Count to play Cathouse. “It wouldn’t be uncommon to see Guns N’ Roses one week and Alice In Chains the next–so many bands played before they were huge. It was also the kind of place where you’d find Robert Downey Jr. rubbing elbows with Aerosmith’s Stephen Tyler,” says Rachtman.
Cathouse was the place to discover the best rock ‘n’ roll. Ask anyone who ever went to Cathouse…they’ll try to piece together what they remember about how legendary it was. With Cathouse Live At Irvine Meadows, the Cathouse is returning for those who lived the legend as it happened and those who are ready to experience this piece of rock ‘n’ roll history for the first time.
“Riki Rachtman is a great ambassador for a whole generation of hard rock,” says Live Nation Executive Vice President Rich Best. “We’re excited to partner with his iconic Cathouse brand to bring some of the biggest rock bands of the ‘80s and ‘90s together for this event. With over 20 bands that helped define an era with millions of records sold and dozens of hit songs, Cathouse Live at Irvine Meadows is a great value for fans.”
Two lucky unsigned bands will have the chance to play at Cathouse Live at Irvine Meadows via the Cathouse Live Battle of the Bands, held Tuesday, July 14 at the infamous Whisky A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, CA. The grand prize winner will open the main stage and the runner up–as chosen by celebrity rock judges–will open the second stage at Cathouse Live. Bands can apply for a chance to play the Cathouse Live Battle of the Bands by emailing email@example.com between May 12 and July 1.
Los Angeles Times writer Kastle Waserman described Cathouse in her August 23, 2001 feature, noting: “On any given night, high-heeled, platinum blonds vied for attention on the dance floor. Aspiring rock musicians with impossibly teased hair crowded the bar and offered their standard pickup line: ‘Come see my band play.’ In VIP corners, rock notables mixed easily with Hollywood scenesters…Within weeks of its opening in the late 1980s, the Cathouse became ‘world-famous,’ L.A.’s place to be for rock ‘n’ roll kicks. A six-year run saw it evolve from a lightning-strike success into a legendary landmark…”
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to re-live the Cathouse experience August 15, 2015 at Cathouse Live At Irvine Meadows.
