This year the Summer Rock Festival turns 30, congratulations to the organizers on the birthday. At the end of last year’s festival the first round of tickets to the event were released. Then in January 2017, a multi-band competition was held with the first prize being awarded a performance at the festival. As if that weren’t enough, and at the end of February the first bands were announced. Europe was one of the announced head liners and since the festival’s motto is that it offers something for everyone, local acts and kids acts are always included in the program. A bunch of local sponsors made the festival possible and as in previous years, the organizers worked together with the Young Cancer foundation. A lot of the biggest bands/artists in Sweden were booked this year like Europe, Magnus Carlson, Magnus Uggla, and former ESC winner Måns Zelmerlöw.

A bunch of local cover bands were also added to the list and over all, the program seemed to have something for everyone which made the festival stay true to their motto. The festival doesn’t have a camping site and since the majority of visitors comes from the small town of Svedala or towns around, everyone went home when the festival closed each day. In 2015 the organizers made the decision to only feature two stages instead of the usual three and also narrow down the area a bit. With the thought of the festival turned 30 year this year, maybe the festival could have done more to mark this event. But then again there were a lot of big Swedish names on the bill this year as well. If you’d like to read more about the festival previous years then check out the archives.
