Day 1: Kick Off Party
The Ship and Anchor is not the usual stomping ground for metal heads, nor does it feature metal shows too often. However, the venue has been known to host some metal acts on the occasional Wednesdays when they offer free shows. Unfortunately on this night the heaviest band on the bill and arguably the only real metal band, Wake, had to drop off due to scheduling conflicts with an upcoming tour. The rest of the lineup was well chosen for the venue though. The majority of the crowd was not made up of metalheads that night as the more rock oriented bands brought their own following and didn’t seem to chase out the regulars still at the back of the bar or on the patio. Open Air, Million Dollar fix, and Alkatine were on the rock side of the spectrum, but Million Dollar Fix did get the first mosh pit going. Throne of Vengeance was the most metal band on the bill with some power metal type shredding and solos mixed in to their rock and roll sound. Chron Goblin ended the night with a stoner rock set and the venue was still packed to the very end. The kickoff party was a successful one and CMF got a lot of exposure to a crowd that normally may not have looked into the event.
