Crazy Lixx, Bullet, Kvelertak at Posthusstage
Flogging Molly at Grand Square
Malmofestival, Malmo, Sweden
18-20-21/8 – 2013
Review and live pictures by: Anders Sandvall
The annual version of the Malmo Festivalen took as always place between 16-23/8 in downtown Malmo. It was the 29th time the festival was held and it’s one of the oldest festivals in Sweden. Many festival didn’t make it this year and amongst the ones who didn’t we have Peace And Love festival, Siesta festival and Gatufestivalen, they all went bankrupt. Malmo festival is held in the city, so it isn’t a festival in the sense that it’s possible to camp. It’s a festival with food, theater, music and performances by every possible branches of the cultural tree. There are stages for all kinds of music, like 60’s music, swing, blues as well as dance.
There are also three bigger stages, two located on each square and one located behind the train-station where the bigger artists performs. There are also many food stands that offers food from all around the world. The festival is free to visit so the city area is really crowded during the festival week. The festival haven’t been the best at booking harder metal and rock acts but this year was particularly poor when it came to harder acts. It was said that the festival was going to announce some really great acts, and the ones who came were Crazy Lixx (a local act), Bullet, Kvelertak and Cult Of Luna – not so impressed. The only positive thing was that Flogging Molly was about to perform. But that was also it.
