Rating: 4.5/5

After 37 years this McCartney & Wings show finally gets a proper release. Filmed in 1975 and ’76, premiered in 1980 and then saw a home release on Betamax and laserdisc. This is the first time the full length concert has ever been released and fully restored from the original film at that. Sweet!!

Beautifully restored concert that retains the film look. There is nearly 30 songs on here and it is a good mixture of solo and Beatle tracks. Something for everyone. Surprisingly the highlight of the concert is during the sit down portion when they perform “I’ve Just Seen A Face”. This short but upbeat little tune was enjoyable to watch and listen to. Guitarist Denny Laine looked to be really enjoying himself on stage. It wasn’t until I watched this concert that I came to realize how good a guitarist and all around musician  Denny really is. He really shines during this show playing guitar, bass and piano at different places throughout. A real talent.

Yes this is pretty much your typical Rock concert film but it is one has some historical importance in the Rock world. It showcases Paul McCartney & Wings at the height of their popularity during the ‘Wings Around The World’ Tour. ROCKSHOW is an excellent documentation of pure Rock n’ Roll.
