The 23rd Of April 2013
Nosturi Helsinki Finland

The legendary German metal vixen Doro enjoys a true as steel following amongst die hard hard rock and metal fans around the world. Doro Pesch has visited Finland a couple of times before, therefore her recent visit to Finland pulled hundreds of people to the Nosturi venue. Mostly the middle aged audience crowded the venue and afew younger fans truly welcomed Doro with the intense and passionate response and cheers.

The Swedish hard rock group, Dirty Passion, had been chosen to open the night up. When the four piece got on the stage, the audience was still on the way to the venue or headed to pick up beer while waiting for Doro’s show. Dirty Passion offered a good deal of the traditional Swedish sleaze hard rock. The band definitely sounded extremely professional and well-trained and well experienced, but unfortunately the lack of interest and above all the lack of knowledge of the band’s material didn’t bring the audience to the front line to cheer them. Instead, the Finnish crowd politely followed the gig with the suitable distance from the stage and having a beer in the hand. Hopefully Dirty Passion will be having more chances and especially some kind of background forces behind pushing them hard as these kinds of sleaze hard rockers are needed for sure.

The drums were taken away from the stage and prepared for Doro’s show. The set was kicked the off with the classic Warlock tunes “I Rule The Ruins”, “Burning The Witches” and were followed by dozens of other Warlock tunes. The Metal Queen unleashed a pure energetic gig with the full force and intensive passion in her performance. Even though Doro has been rocking for 30 years by now, not having given up any inch in the show. The lady appeared to be truly thrilled and truly blown away by the responds of the Finnish people. It ain’t any wonder the venue was nearly packed as 500 people had crawled there. The 500 went entirely berserk when several fast played Warlock tunes were unleashed, whereas slower more ballad ones “Fur Immer” calmed the audience down. Instead, the Wacken theme song was kind of needless and could have been replaced by some other tune and the same thing about the Judas Priest cover song “Breaking The Law”.

When “All We Are” had literally blasted the audience out, the people didn’t leave the venue instead started demanding more. Doro remained being on the stage  wondering the massive cheering and asked the audience to name any song whatever the people wanted to hear.  Several names popped up, after all Doro picked up “Metal Tango” and was followed by a couple of songs from Doro’s catalogues and of course the Warlock tune.

The gig was awesome from the beginning to the end. The whole band sounded absolutely fabulous and tight and especially the sounds have been managed to sound tight and crystal clear. As stated above Doro itself was extremely thrilled and turned out to a more down to earth type of hard rocker. Even though she screwed up some lines, but didn’t hide that mistake. Even though Doro has done a few shows on her own and once with Warlock as an opening band for Judas Priest back in 1986 in Finland, but she pulls these excellent shows in front of the real enthusiastic audience. Willkommen Doro !!!
