Having been a Beatlefan since the early 90’s this release came with mixed feelings. Never was a big Macca fan so another release was not high on my list of releases to get. This one is different. What sparked my interest is that it features my favorite piano player; Diana Krall. While I have not heard the latest McCartney album which features her playing this release was of great interest.

This Blu-Ray is well packaged in a nice hardbound book form with about a 40 page booklet. Really beautifully done. As soon as I began to watch the disc we are treated to some amazing shots of the Capitol Tower which is an icon in itself. The video quickly switches to Black & White which suits the music perfectly. The music is old standards so it will not be for everyone. It is extremely mellow and relaxing and a far cry from his solo or Beatles releases. It is not too far out of the realm for Krall though. The combination of the the two of them is a perfect match. Never would you have dreamt that they could sound so perfectly together. The combination of Paul’s voice and her interpretation of the songs on piano is perfect. The big surprise for me was seeing Joe Walsh play guitar on a couple of songs. Joe is an amazing guitarist and this demonstrates that he is not only a fantastic Rock guitarist but an excellent Classical player as well.

This may not be for everyone but it is extremely well done and worth looking into if you like McCartney or just want to pour up a glass of red with that special someone on a cold winter’s night and relax.
