Peter Frampton
FCA35 Tour: An Evening With  (Blu-Ray)
2012, Eagle Vision
Rating: 4.5/5

As you’d expect Peter is on top of his game and shows no sign of slowing down. While he doesn’t look like he did some 30 odd years ago when he released his infamous live album FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE. That double live LP made Peter a household name as just about every family owned a copy.

Here we are a few decades later and Peter performs the entire album and then some. Just watching this concert makes you appreciate what a fantastic musician he is and he comes off a real genuine nice guy with zero ego. For those of us that own the original album this show is like a flashback or the visual experience we never had. Frampton still has the chops both vocally and guitar-wise. The sound he gets from his guitar is the near perfect mix of clarity and distortion. It fits the songs with perfection and gives them that edge. He even has a go at Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun”. For a couple of tunes he brings his son Julian out to handle the vocals. He does an admirable job but he is no seasoned pro. He really does good on the old Humble Pie number “I Don’t Need No Doctor”. This was his shining moment of the show.

This Blu-Ray is a definite for anyone that owned or still owns and enjoys that classic LP. It adds that missing visual. While it may not be as iconic as FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE it is quite an enjoyable experience.
