The Darkness

Hot Cakes

2012, Wind-Up/EMI

Rating: 4/5

While we haven’t heard from these guys in awhile it is good to know they are still around so to speak. This release doesn’t offer anything new or groundbreaking, but it is an enjoyable listen.

The formula is the same as their first pair of albums which is good. If it works then why change it? The music is simple feel good Rock n Roll with a Glam influence. Lyrically there is no sombre meanings or political statements to be made here just pure fun. Justin’s vocals haven’t changed at all and he still does those incredible falsetto highs which help give them a sound that is all their own.

Nothing new here musically just 11 songs of good time Rock n Roll that you are sure to enjoy.
