COVAN WAKE THE FUCK UP is a series of benefit concerts featuring the legendary polish band Decapitated who reformed after their tragic road accident, due to negligence during a post accident operation; Adrian "Covan" Kowanek went into a cardiac arrest and cerebral hypoxia.
But now there’s hope for Covan to regain some quality of life with a ground breaking new surgery utilising stem cells transplantation at a clinic in Koln, Germany.
For this to take place, the aim of tonight’s gig is to raise as much money as possible for his cause.
Tidal Concerts and Camden Underworld have teamed up with Hybridmusic to promote a fund raising event featuring Decapitated plus special guests Ted Maul.
Born from the underground are London’s (UK/Gibraltar) most prolific band Ted Maul, here they have created ultimate dark music combining extreme hardcore metal and jungle drum and bass hardstep.
Ted Maul have battled their way in the music scene since 2002 with a few line up changes creating ultimate destruction, chaos, madness and infiltrating fear in every venue they have ever roamed.
Ted Maul hold nothing back, the depth of their expression is matched by that of their musical prowess and originality, this tornado is guided and fellow musicians, critics, friends and fans know that Ted Maul are deadly serious about their art and that their music is a religion.
In December 2011 Ted Maul introduced a full new line up including Electrifying DJ Hum on Decks, Keys and Sampler and Matt Wilcock guitar (ex guitarist from bands Ackercocke – Berzerker). On vocals and charismatic leader is Solomon J.Lucifer Christ,on Bass and backing vocals is Nick Hassan,on guitar Dan Ropeman Knight and Perry Mason on Drums who has been fighting cancer.
Ted Maul gives a jaw dropping performance tonight, as always!
They are heavy, aggressive and they own the stage and the crowd is very responsive and frontman Solomon has an impressive growl, the kind to wake up the dead with!
Solomon and Matt on guitars give strong and agressive riffs and they definitely have their hardcore followers tonight, giving a brilliant atmosphere to the aggressiveness present in the venue.
As always it is never a long enough set!
We are told about their new video out very soon, I strongly advise you to check it out.
Decapitated is a death metal band that formed in Krosno, Poland in 1996. The group comprises guitarist, founder and composerWacÅ‚aw "Vogg" KieÅ‚tyka, vocalist RafaÅ‚ Piotrowski and Austrian drummer Kerim "Krimh" Lechner. Decapitated have gained recognition as one of the genre’s most widely respected bands and one of the finest exponents of technical death metal. The band earned an international fan base in the underground music community and became an innovating act in the modern death metal genre.
I have never seen them live but heard a lot about them and their music and last is to say I was not disappointed.
In late 2007, the band was involved in an automobile accident. Vitek died at the age of 23 on November 2, 2007 of the injuries he suffered from the accident and Covan survived, but he slipped into a coma as a result. After a period of disbandment, Vogg decided to continue the band and reformed Decapitated with Piotrowski, Krimh and embarked on a tour in Europe, Australia and North America.
In 2009, the Austrian drummer Kerim "Krimh" Lechner of Thorns of Ivy joined Decapitated. The new line-up was completed with the vocalist Rafał Piotrowski of the band Ketha and bassist Filip "Heinrich" Hałucha of Vesania and Masachist.
Decapitated’s music is composed by the "mastermind" of the band, Vogg, who co-worked with Vitek while writing prior to his death.
Decapitated became known for its songwriting and technical instrumental approach at an extraordinarily young age and earned an international fan base in the underground music community, and watching them perform tonight at the Underworld confirms everything you knew about them;what a band!
Rafal is strong, with a immense stage presenceand the set goes very fast, mainly due to the fact that they are creating another dimension at the Underworld.
It’s dark, it’s hot and there are people moshing and yelling everywhere, as the riffs are playing heavy and brutal!
What an amazing gig!
We wish Covan all the best and it was a privilege to be present here tonight.
Hopefully the Next Decapitated gig will include him too.
