Stone Temple Pilots

Alive In The Windy City (DVD)

2012, Eagle Rock Ent.

Rating: 3.5/5

Stone Temple Pilots reform and release their first ever live DVD. Filmed back in 2010 in Chicago, IL the band perform all their classic hits. Apart from the 18 song setlist the viewer is treated to Bonus Interviews making for one worthwhile release for any STP fan.

Filmed in HD in front f a Sold Out crowd with multi cameras and DTS-HD Master Audio, the essence of the live concert experience is captured the best as it can be. All the STP songs you know and love are performed very close to the original versions with very little variation. As you’d expect the quality is fantastic. The picture is not perfectly sharp as with some concerts but it isn’t the worst by no stretch of the imagination. They did a better job with the quality of the sound. The DTS mix is great, especially cranked up. Musically the band is in great form, even Scott who at times appears to be a bit out of it but that may just be his stage act. He does deliver an excellent performances and really gets into the music.

A concert for old and new STP fans and for those curious as to what all the hype was back in the day. ALIVE IN THE WINDY CITY is a fine addition to every Rock fans concert DVD collection.
