X Japan has been nominated for Best International Band at the fourth annual Golden Gods Awards. The band has been nominated alongside Rammstein (Germany), Lacuna Coil (Italy), Sepultura (Brazil), Behemoth (Poland), and Meshuggah (Sweden). X Japan is the first band from Asia to ever be nominated for a Golden Gods Award, and the band’s Yoshiki will be in attendance when the winners are announced. The Revolver Golden Gods Award show will take place on Wednesday, April 11th at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.

As America’s only hard rock and heavy metal awards show, this year’s event will include special performances by Marilyn Manson, Evanescence, Korn, Slash, and more.

The event will also coincide with the launch of a special Metal Exhibition at the Grammy Museum, located next to Club Nokia. The Golden Gods Award Black Carpet and Show presented by Epiphone® will be broadcasted live on X Box Live at 6pm PT. The show begins at 8pm PT. The 2012 Golden Gods Awards will also air on VH1 later in the year.

X JAPAN

X Japan is one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history, having sold more than 30-million albums, singles and videos, and filled the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record 18 times. The popularity of the band in Japan has made them a cultural phenomenon in music, fashion and business. X Japan made its North American debut at the 2010 Lollapalooza festival, and sold out their New York City debut at the famed Roseland Ballroom as part of their first American tour in 2010. In 2011, they kicked off the European portion of their tour by selling out Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London within 30 minutes. They continued their sold-out tour by performing in Latin America and Southeast Asia. X Japan plans to release their first English language album and is currently scheduling their next world tour.

THE GOLDEN GODS AWARDS

The Golden Gods Awards was created in 2009 by Revolver, one of music’s most influential magazines. Each year, the show features performances and appearances from the world’s biggest rock and metal stars, including Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, and more. It is considered America’s biggest hard rock and heavy metal awards show, and it airs on VH1 Classic every year.
