Jägermeister recently hosted their latest ‘Ice Cold’ Studio Session, where rock bands and icons meet for the first time in a recording studio and ‘break the ice’ by working on a track together.

The ‘Ice Cold’ Studio Session featured British heavy metal band Malefice and football legend Marcus Hahnemann and took place at London’s famous Strongroom Studios.

Marcus Hahnemann, US international goalkeeper who is currently playing for Everton, is a well known heavy metal fan but it was the first time he had ever taken his passion for metal into a recording studio.

Marcus Hahnemann said: “It’s been a great day. I wanted to come down and just see what recording would be like, piecing a track together. I’ve had an awesome time”

Reading band Malefice are one of the leading exponents of modern British heavy metal and released their album ‘Awaken The Tides’ to critical acclaim last year.

 

Vocalist, Dale Butler commented: “Today has gone really well. It’s exceeded expectations. We knew Marcus was going to be good but he was actually better than even he firstly anticipated”

The finished track entitled ‘Omega’ is available to stream exclusively on the Jägermeister UK Facebook page now.

Swiss new wave of folk metal sensations ELUVEITIE have released a short documentary chronically the making of their official video clip for the song “A Rose For Epona”. The song was taken from the bands highly anticipated upcoming release Helvetios. The music video was produced by the Polish company Grupa13 who had worked with the band on the clip for “Thousandfold” from the last album Everything Remains… As It Never Was. The production company has also worked with such bands as BEHEMOTH and AMON AMARTH before. Check out the clip:

Helvetios will be released on February 10 (Europe) and February 28 (North America) 2012 via Nuclear Blast.

Helvetios is a concept album about the gaulish war (58-50 B.C.), the story of the war being told in a chronological timeline. Check out Chrigel explaining the concept behind Helvetios here:

Gothic metallers PARADISE LOST have now revealed the cover artwork for their much anticipated new studio album, Tragic Idol, set to be released on April 23rd in Europe and April 24th in North America via Century Media Records. Named one of Decibel Magazine’s “Top 25 Most Anticipated Albums of 2012″, Tragic Idol features artwork designed by Parisian artist Valnoir (www.metastazis.com), who has not only worked on this band’s release, but also with artists such as MORBID ANGEL, LAIBACH, ULVER, WATAIN, and more than 150 others.

Furthermore, the band will be touring the UK this April, performing tracks from their forthcoming album Tragic Idol. French metallers LONEWOLF have finished the mastering of their brand new studio album titled “Army Of The Damned” at the MP Studio (Sabaton, Mortician) in Poland. The album was produced by Bart Gabriel (Jack Starrs’ Burning Starr, Midnight Priest, Crystal Viper), who previously worked with the band on 2009′s “The Dark Crusade”. One of the new songs features a special guest appearance by ex-Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley. The upcoming new album is set to be released 30 March 2012 via Napalm Records.

LONEWOLF is often described as the “new RUNNING WILD” as they mix classic metal influences of such bands as Running Wild, Accept and Grave Digger with the new attitude of groups like Powerwolf.

Sarcofagus main man, Kimmo Kuusniemi tells:

“Last year I was approached by Australian Brutal Ballet if they could include our music into their upcoming Ballet “Out Of The Darkness”. I was more than happy to have Sarcofagus as part of this production. Sarcofagus has and always will be looking into creating experimental and progressive productions.

As a film maker I had a Classical Ballet dancer in the music video we made for the Polish Death Metal band Vader for song “Dark Age” in 1992. Even back then I thought Classical Ballet goes well with Metal Music.

The track “Black Contract” Brutal Ballet chose from Sarcofagus 1980 “Envoy Of Death” album is a very dark experimental song about what happens when you sell your soul to Lucifer. It is a perfect song for Classical Ballet.

I would urge anybody who wants to experience something different from the norm to go and see the Brutal Ballet “Out Of The Darkness” show at Sello Sali in Espoo, Finland, 7.2.2012.”

Los Angeles based hard rock artists Will Wallner (Guitarist) & Vivien Vain (Vocalist) have released their debut album featuring guest musicians including Carmine Appice, Vinny Appice, Brian Tichy, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Jimmy Bain, Derek Sherinian and Tony Carey. The album is available worldwide via digital download and special edition CD’s can be purchased from their official website.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles throughout 2011 and mixed by Gary Tole in New York. Mastering was completed in September 2011 by Graham Goldman at Masterdisk.

Will Wallner and Vivien Vain came to America from Europe. Upon meeting they discovered they shared similar musical tastes and began writing songs together. The concept for their music was to write hard rock songs that they could be proud of as artists ignoring current trends. After a year of performing in Los Angeles they had a chance meeting with Carmine Appice and Vinny Appice at the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip in 2010. After sending them demo’s of their songs the Appice brothers agreed to perform drums for their debut album. Since that first meeting the project evolved featuring several other guest session musicians with Will Wallner and Vivien Vain performing all guitars and vocals respectively. Their debut features nine original songs written and produced by Wallner/Vain.

The album cover features Wallner/Vain photographed by Glen La Ferman. The video for the song ‘Streets of Rage’ was produced in Hollywood. Wallner/Vain will announce live dates to promote their album release in the next couple of months.
