Some Girls Live In Texas ’78 (Blu-Ray)

Released: 2011, Eagle Vision

Rating: 4.5/5

SOME GIRLS is one of my Top Stones albums of all-time. Many fans rank this one low but I love it. When Eagle announced that this concert was coming out on Blu-Ray I was instantly psyched. I loved the LADIES AND GENTLEMEN title so my expectations were set high for this one.

The Stones were still flying high at this point and nobody could touch them in many ways. Mick and Keith are full of energy and performing at the top of their game. There is no going through the motions here as they are really into it. Keith is just tearing it especially on “Jumping Jack Flash”.  Another highlight is earlier in the show when they perform “Star Star”. Woody is given a bit more spotlight for this one. They keep the momentum up for nearly the whole show and rarely slow it down at all much to the delight of the crowd.

The only flaw to this release is that it looks dated but you’d expect that a bit with footage that is over 30 years old. Too bad they couldn’t have cleaned it up a bit more but it does add to the feel of it. A small price to pay to finally get this show on video that you can watch and crank up at anytime you please.
