Talking Heads

Chronology (DVD)

2011, Eagle Vision

Rating: 3/5

Being vastly unfamiliar with the Talking Heads music this was quite an interesting release to watch. Beginning with footage from 1975 and going right up to 2002 this should give old and new fans a nice overall live sampling of the band.

As with any compilation the quality will vary and this is no exception. For the most part the audio is fairly consistent with the biggest differences being in the video. None of it is unlistenable or unwatchable by any means. The performances are interesting to say the least with singer David Byrne’s spastic-like stage movements at times. These performances like the US Festival and the Old Grey Whistle Test should be a welcomed treat for fans.

This collection of performances seems to be aimed more toward the hardcore fan rather than a casual fan or an introduction to them. It is good for what it is and does it well.
