Peter Gabriel

New Blood: Live In London (Blu-Ray)

Released: 2011, Eagle Vision

Rating: 3/5

Eagle Rock Entertainment is known for their exceptional High Quality video releases and this one is no different. This is one of the clearest looking concerts I have ever seen and the sound is just amazing. With that said you may be wondering why not a perfect rating?

Despite the stunning picture and beautiful sound it is Gabriel himself that lacks in this release. With a massive back catalog to choose from he omits such Classics as “Sledgehammer”, “Games Without Frontiers” and “Shock The Monkey” just to name a few. At least he performs “Biko” and “Solsbury Hill”. The auditorium in which he is performing in is the perfect choice for this type of performance. With an orchestra backing him this would be out of place in an arena. It is a very mellow and boring performance to view. Gabriel just stands in front of the mic stand and sings with little to no movement.

Again another concert release flawed by the performers lack of energy or stage presence to give it a bit of life and character. It is the perfect release for that night when it is cold outside and you want to relax and spend a quiet evening with that special someone to keep warm.
