Alex Jonsson from Days of Anger was kind to do this shorter interview with me and metal-rules.com. The band is a new Swedish thrash metal act that involves members from the bands Scaar and Fatal Smile. Their debut album was released at the beginning of 2011 and down below you can read about what me and Alex talked about.
Hi Alex really nice to talk to you. Are you ready to kick off the interview?
Fuck yeah, I’m ready nice talking to you as well!!!!
Well, the brand new album from Days Of Anger is called DEATH PATH what can you tell us about the album?
Death path is an album made out of rage and frustration!!!
You recorded the album without any back-up from a label why?
We just felt an urge of making an album and didn’t really care about a record deal at that moment….
How many songs did you write for the album? Were there many songs that didn’t made it on to the final edition?
We wrote Eleven songs for the Deathpath session but we have a lot of new stuff for another round,so stay tuned for more vicious songs from D.O.A
What are the lyrics about and who writes the lyrics?
I wrote all the lyrics for the album and me and Alf produced the songs together!!!!!!
Where does the title DEATH PATH come from? Does the title have any special meaning to the band?
We all walking the DEATHPATH everyday so its like a statement of life I guess!!!
How would you like to define what kind of music the band play?
Hard-hitting hardcore metal with killer attitude!!!
Who’s done the cover art-work and what do you think of it?
I fucking love it!!! I came up with the idea and then the good friend of ours, Andre Beckston (Monowasp) made a fucking brilliant job I must say!!!
You put out the song “One Way Ticket Down (To Hell)” on your MySpace site what did the fans think of the song?
So far we have had a lot of great response on that song!!!
Are you happy with the outcome of the album?
Did you a release party for the album? If so when and where did it take place and did the band perform live?
We had a big party in our home town and like 300 people showed up to support us……
Have you read any reviews of DEATH PATH yet? Does the member care about what critics have to say about the band and the album?
Yeah and most of them are good but I mean you cant be loved by everyone!!!!!!!
What does the fans think of the disc?
The fans just fucking love it!!!
Are there any plans on shooting a video to any of the songs?
We recently released a video for the song (One way ticket down to hell)
In which studio took the recording place?
In studio Elias in Eskilstuna!
How long took it to record the album?
A couple of weeks.
Who has produced the album?
We produced the album ourselves!
Isn’t it hard to produce your own work I mean isn’t it hard to stay objective?
I don’t think so. I like to work that way and I’m damn proud of the result!!!!!
Do you think that you’re going to continue producing your own albums in the future?
Yes were gonna continue producing the next albums as well I guess.
Who’s done the mixing and mastering parts?
Pelle Saether at Studio Underground In Västerås Sweden did the mixing and mastering!!!!!!!
How was it to work with Saether?
Pelle is a cool dude and its always nice to work with him!!!!
When did you land a deal with Massacre Records?
We did send the album to a couple of record companies around the world and after a few weeks we had a Deal in our hands…
Were there many labels that showed interest in signing you?
Yeah a couple of them was really interested of the band.
How come you chose to ink a deal with Massacre and are you happy with the work the label have put into the band and album so far?
We decided to go for MR because they had most to offer for the band at that moment
For how many albums are you signed for at MR?
I think they have options for two more CD:s but we will see what happens????
Is the album released world wide yet?
I don’t think its out in the US?????
Are you currently co-operating with any management or booking agency?
Not at the moment but we working on it!!!!
When was the band formed and who is the bandleader?
I’m the bandleader and I formed the band at the beginning of 2010
You have all been parts of the band Scaar before are you friends with the guys in Scaar at the moment?
Fuck yeah, we are still friends!!!!!
How come you chose to make Days Of Anger a trio?
We wanted to be like Motorhead!
Where does the band name come from? Who came up with the name?
I came up with the name after I injured my leg real fucking bad a couple of years ago.
Do you guys still live in Eskilstuna?
Yes we do.
You injured your knee during a gig in Copenhagen pretty bad a while ago, how’s the knee doing now? What happened?
Fuck yeeah,,it was the beginning of an horrible nightmare for me, I have been struggling with that shit ever since that night for almost two years ago. I was hospitalized for 9 fucking weeks and the doctors weren’t sure they could keep my leg but after 7 operations it finally turned out well, or ok, I can walk right now but that’s it and I still suffering and have a lot of pain…
Is Days Of Anger a project or a band?
It’s a band!!!!!!
What do you prefer the most, singing or playing bass?
I prefer to do both just like Lemmy!
Has the band done many shows so far?
No we haven’t
Are you going to both sing and play bass live or are you going to take in a bass player?
I think I’m going to focus on the vocals…
You did a show in Finland in the beginning of May how was that?
That show was postponed!!!!
Do you see any problem with that some of you are involved in other acts besides Days Of Anger (you in Fatal Smile and Johansson in Scaar)?
I don’t really see any problem in anything these days.
When can we find the next album from Days Of Anger available in stores?
Pretty soon I hope we have just entered the studio again and a second album can be expected real soon!!!!!
How come you don’t have a website?
We hate computers!
What are the plans for Days of Anger for the rest of 2011?
Writing killer songs!!!!!!
