Legendary rockers, the Scorpions are perhaps Germany’s biggest rock band of all time.
Over the last four decades with their power-packed live shows they have filled arenas with adoring fans, sold over 100 million albums worldwide and influenced countless rock acts, making them one of the most successful bands to ever come out of Continental Europe, but the Scorpions are not done yet. On November 21, the multi-platinum hard rock legends will release Comeblack, a collection of newly recorded versions of classic Scorpions’ hits and cover songs.
During the Scorpions incredibly successful 2010 tour, journalists all over the world repeated asked about a possible comeback. Taking their cue from that question, the Scorpions responded with Comeblack, a tongue-in-cheek thank you to the die-hard fans whose enthusiasm overwhelmed the legendary rockers during these farewell concerts.
The band explains “We can’t exactly remember the day, the month or the hour, but at some point during this tour we were simply overwhelmed by the success of “Sting in the Tail” and our farewell tour. The idea to go back to the studio was born out of pure excitement. Screaming fans wherever we went! It was great to share the studio with Mikael and Martin again, going crazy with ideas for a new “project”!”
Comeblack features completely new productions of some Scorpions hits, including their 1984 anthem “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, the 1990 ballad “Wind of Change,” and “Still Loving You”. Each has been masterly adapted to today’s technical standards with Swedish producers Mikael “Nord” Andersson and Martin Hansen (the team behind THE RASMUS’ “Dead Letters” CD). These songs are bookended with recordings of classics rock songs that have inspired and influenced The Scorpions throughout their career. The Small Faces’ “Tin Soldier”, “Ruby Tuesday” by The Rolling Stones and Marc Almond’s “Tainted Love” are among the featured tracks.
