X Japan made its U.S. concert debut at Lollapalooza this past Sunday, and an ABC “World News with Diana Sawyer” crew was there to record the historic event.  The Chicago Sun-Times called the band’s performance “a spectacular, almost operatic performance of big ballads and speed metal.”  Time Out Chicago’s review thanked Lollapalooza’s co-founder Perry Farrell for booking “the coup of the festival,” and USA Today wrote, “The metal-pop-punk was fast and furious,” describing the drumming of band leader Yoshiki as “Keith Moon on Red Bull.”

X Japan, one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history, has its sights set on America, with its first U.S. tour and English-lyrics album coming this Fall.  ABC-TV’s Dan Harris sat down with X Japan’s Yoshiki in Chicago, to talk about that, and more.
