ZZ Top

Double Down Live

2009, Eagle Vision

Rating: 4.5/5

Disc 1: Definitely Then

An excellent piece of early era ZZ Top. This Rockpalast footage showcases the band on the DEGUELLO tour which to some fans was ZZ in their prime. Just about every early song is performed here, from “Cheap Sunglasses” to “Heard It On The X”. Just getting the opportunity to see a young, energetic band on stage is worth the price of the DVD alone. The band is tight, energetic and full of energy. This is the selling point of the set easily.

Disc 2: Almost Now

Slightly newer footage than was on last years LIVE FROM TEXAS release. This time the camera angles and filming is allot better. The songs and stage are pretty much the same but the way it is presented makes it allot more enjoyable to watch (and LIVE FROM TEXAS was this reviewers DVD of the year for 2008).

The little ‘ol band from Texas can do no wrong in a live setting. They are one of the best out there today. Catch ‘em while you can and if you can’t this is the next best thing to being there.
