Katie Kerkhover

Blister

2009, Independent

Rating: 3.5/5

This independent debut features some vocal similarities to early 80’s era Joan Jett so it would only be fitting that Kerkhover cover her hit “Bad Reputation”. Katie can also be likened to Sheryl Crow with more of an edge. It is the opening track, “Over Me” that sets the tone for the album which is Rock n’ Roll with a bit of an attitude and loud guitars. She carries this throughout the album as no ballads are to be found. The aforementioned cover of Jett’s “Bad Reputation is true to the original just slightly heavier which is needed this day in age as the original is beginning to sound a little dated.

A record label should pick her up immediately as this is what Rock Radio is lacking today.
